4.4.3 OTA canned; we're getting 4.4.4 - Droid Ultra General

Source: https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z121c3jzhkvfs302m23sflcbqxb4xvm5a04
TL;DR: We're not getting 4.4.3, we're getting 4.4.4. The version bump to .4 is basically only a security vulnerability fix, so don't get excited about any new features or bug fixes except for what was already due to land with 4.4.3.
The worst part is that this will significantly add to the wait time until we see the next OTA for our device. The expected wait is 3 to 5 weeks after the week ending June 27, then there will be a soak, delaying it another week. With Verizon dragging their feet as is typical, I would expect this update to roll out for general availability no sooner than the second week of August.
Another two months of bluetooth dropouts. Thanks a lot, Verizon.

Yeah all BS. Can't believe we get screwed longer as usual. Thank God for developers like TopSnake who are able to provide what multi million dollar company's can't #customerservice and we aren't even his customers. I will shut up now..

Just read that. Oh well, I still have a rockin EVO till release date. They gonna blame this on Bush too?
I know this is crap. I got a call from Best Buy this morning telling me it was delayed with no ETA. WTF. Ive been up for a upgrade since November and Ive been patiently waiting. This is my first time in 12 years with Sprint that I actually waited after being eligible for an upgrade. I normally get one within a month of my eligibility date.

does this mean it will be RELEASED that day, or the release date will be announced that day?
Since they are not announcing it till the evening I would think the earliest it would be on sale would be the next day. They may just say the dates it will be available with each carrier.
I highly doubt (unfortunately) that it will be released the day of or after. Think the GS3, the announcement was quite a ways, if memory serves, more than a month prior to the release on my carrier, Verizon. I think we may be waiting quite a while after the announcement. Here's hoping I am wrong.
October 24th? I was hoping it would be released by that time :/
my upgrade is up on monday. so do i cave in and get a GS3 (my current phone is 3 years old and barely usable), or wait it out for the note 2?
I know they want to make this a huge deal, but I'm thinking just giving us the dates would be way more hype than a party could create.

+1 well until they said midnovember. We basically already know when its coming out.

If I remember correctly TMO got the GS3 about a week before everybody else got it, so it could mean a possible Halloween release for the Note 2 on TMO based on a Nov 11th date. Would be nice since they released, then canceled the original note all the sudden. Seems like that would be a nice way for TMO to make-up for the mistake of a release of the Note1. Would make for a nice treat, but of course this is just speculation.
dang just release the thing already

Apple just doesn't tell you anything until its time to release, haha.
It works for them though because nothing else uses iOS so you won't buy another device because there were no details about the next phone. I'm already eligible for my upgrade. Had Note 2 details not have leaked I'd have the GS3 by now. Besides if Samsung launched within two weeks of an announcement I'm sure apple would sue for stealing the idea.
Hopefully they'll give some dates when they launch it on the 24th. Should be sooner, but at least now we have a date.
Better if the dates leak earlier. Also if it is our phone and not a new tablet announcement.
US Cellular states that they will have it ship out at the end of Oct, for pre-orders.

***Verizon Nexus 6 Announcement***

As new leak has been released
Verizon Nexus 6 coming Feb 26th
ARE YOU READY!!!!!

Source please?
Thanks, but I don't think it's really an announcement, so much as a well-spread rumor on the Internet.
I've seen supposed screen shots of Verizon internal website timelines that show the Nexus 6 offering for 02/26/2015, read lots of reports on various IT and Android sites, etc. I guess this has been bantered about for 1-2 weeks or so.
Speaking with Reps recently, they told me that they are getting more questions about the Nexus 6, but that they have no official date to rely upon and that they - the folks on the front lines with Customers - typically don't get told about official availability for a new device until the day before it happens.

[THEORY] Android 5.1 released with MVNO on March 12?

There is a lot of talk about VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling coming to the Nexus 6.
T-Mobile has talked about Wi-Fi calling for months, and now on Phandroid the are saying Android 5.1 is shipping with VoLTE on the Verizon Nexus 6 on March 12. http://phandroid.com/2015/02/26/exclusive-verizon-nexus-6-march-12-android-5-1-volte-support/
At MWC, Google talked about a MVNO that didn't compete with the Big 4, yet it just pushed boundaries. There was talk of VoLTE and calls automatically reconnecting when they are dropped.
What if Google is planning on pushing 5.1 and their MVNO on March 12, starting with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling support for the Nexus 6? Just an idea.

Wifi calling and volte will suffice until they can get band12 active
This is the stuff I come up with while I'm waiting for my ROM to compile
For verizon to launch on the 12th with 5.1, google is going to have to drop 5.1 into ASOP earlier than that. They can do an OTA on the 12th but they are going to need to release the code before hand so the verizon phones will have the update. I wonder if there are any verizon people that can get there hands on display units early and see if it has 5.1.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I'm tempted to go to my local Verizon store and play stupid to see if they have any in the back you'd be shocked at what you can pull at the local Verizon stores... I used to be on the Big Red when I first started developing, I hard bricked my phone twice, both times they replaced it free of charge because I played stupid
T-Mo local stores typically know what they are doing, actually. I go there about once a month and the workers and I talk all about Android news and stuff we see on XDA and other developing stuff when there's no other customers in the store hahaha
That would be amazing!! We can hope right?

I have thought about this for the last month. Verizon is not going to Sale N6 until its capable taking advantage of the best there network has to offer. So Verizon, Motorola and Google are working together to fine tune 5.1. And we will see it with in a few days of Verizon release. Just an old guys theory

if anything, VZW is probably responsible for the delay in releasing 5.1
5.1 could drop as soon as this week.

Yes, The Rumors and speculation spread faster than a virus. No one has any real insider information, it's all just speculation based on each publishers preference. Kind of like how people interpret the bible.

June Security Update?

Is it me or does it seem like T-Mobile/Samsung is taking along time in getting June's update to us? I hope its not the start of us being out of date for months and months. I'm assuming its T-Mobile as Samsung has been sending out the updates and even most of the flagships on Verizon have gotten it. Just curious if any one feels like this too.
I was thinking the same the past days
We got the June security update last month. Remember?

Yeah I hope they do being that it's the 26th. Anyway he said the chance is high because he was reading AT&T got the update. From what I've seen they are usually the last to update phones. So fingers crossed we'll have it.

Haha probably so, I've been thinking that it may be part of it. It's really nice they offer rewards to their customers, but you think they would have been more prepared for alot of people using the app I mean it's free stuff lol.
If they follow their pattern of the previous updates, the update will most likely be the July security patch(and more hopefully ).

It's not out yet. I will call today and see what they say. After months of security updates and nothing this month. Maybe they are getting us the camera update that we never got. I hope so. I do not like this, i should have gotten one unlocked.
Their other phones aren't faring well either. I think the HTC 10 is still on March update. ?

It seems more likely we will go right to July by now I'm sure it's already been given to samsung and to carriers for testing. Just think how hard it's gonna be waiting for Android "N" Come the end of this year, start of next year.
I just called. There is no update planned for June or July. Or August. So I guess hope for Android N early.

Tmobile reps would never know that. Stop relying on them they go off the same info we use. They won't know until the day it goes live just like us. The approval process is handled by tmobile and samsungs servers send it out for download once someone okays it, but I assure you it isn't Rick in customer service that knows when that happens. Lol
