I know many of us are quite frustrated with the xposed module installation on the rooted htc phones. The main culprit for it is the busy box application. This application contains all the terminal commands necessary to break the security of the stock mobile system. It is not a virus application though but install those commands and provide you the functionality to execute the framework changes needed for some important apks like Titanium backup, adfree, xposed module, etc etc..
On HTC devices with Kitkat 4.4.2 specifically, due to the (S-ON) security feature, the busybox app will not get installed easily as apk even on the rooted custom roms. It must be installed separately along with the cwm recovery after updating the supersu. That is why many busybox installers lying on the play store are not working/effective anymore.
It could also be due to the busybox files getting installed either in the incorrect path/location (due to change in the internal sd card path in 4.4.2 kitkat versions) or the S-ON feature must be stopping from installing at the right place. Whatever may be the reasons for not working, there is fix for this issue and the steps are outlined below.
DISCLAIMER: Please don't blame me if you corrupt your device by following the below process. I am pretty sure that the below process works flawlessly, but the reason for failing or corrupting your device could be a combination of several existing issues in your phone. So I take no responsibility for your bricked devices.
Now the coolest part:
1. Your HTC desire 816 must be rooted and should have working clockworkmod recovery. Otherwise this trick doesnt work at all.
2. First lets fix the busy box app - Go to playstore and download Busybox on Rails free apk from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.timos.busyboxonrails
3. Open the Busybox on Rails app, select the Operation option as "Cleanup & Install" and method as Recovery (and not "normal"). This will reboot your device into recovery and install the busy box application.
4. Reboot the system. Vola Busy box should have installed correctly now. To confirm that reopen the same Busybox on Rails app and see if the System Status shows up as OK. If it does, your busybox is successfully installed. If not by any chance, try repeating the steps 2, 3 and 4 again. It should work.
Some people install the terminal apk from play store and execute some su commands to verify if the busybox is installed properly. But that is for people having much knowledge on software scripting side of things.
5. Now lets install the xposed module - search for the xposed module apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/framework-xposed-rom-modding-modifying-t1574401 and install it. Remember to download the xposed disabler apk zip as well, just in case if your mobile gets corrupted, you can flash that to bring back your original settings.
6. Install the xposed module and open Framework within the apk
7. Before hitting the Install/update option, change the Installation mode from defaulted Classical (Write to /system directly) mode to the middle one Recovery (flash zip automatically) mode. Dont change anything else in the settings.
8. Now hit Install/update
9. Phone will reboot the system into recovery mode, install the xposed module.
10. Reboot the phone and Volaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy the xposed framework in your mobile, which opens the endless opportunities to tweak your mobile.

The only advantage of installing busybox and xposed installer is to open up endless opportunities of tweaking your mobile to look and behave the way you want (in most cases). Also some finest apps like titanium backup, and others etc use these busy box services too.
The link2sd app may or may not work and in my view it is totally unrelated. I havent tried that much, so cannot comment much on that I am afraid.

Lnk2Sd is somehow useful for users with partition, very useful for low internal memory devices. Though a high quality SD card is necessary. Thanks to this tutorial. CONFIRMED WORKING for Xposed Framework.

I haven't rooted my device nor did I do any trick with it , but now my device is showing TAMPERED on hboot menu .. is this means my warranty is void .. how that can happen with even connecting my phone to pc.. can I suggest any way of removing it or unlocking my bootloader other than HTC Dev site, or any way to s off it . .. warranty issues

It is very unusual to see that happen without you connecting to pc and trying to unlock the bootloader from HTC dev site. This was first time hearing that this can happen without trying to root or alter the mobiles internal system.
Anyways, to unlock bootloader, you have to go via HTC site and there is no other alternative as of now. The moment you unlock your bootloader, you will see that TAMPERED message in the hboot. If you are also receiving the red text while booting HTC that "This device has been tampered/altered and is development purposes only.... blah blah blah message", then definitely it has been unlocked bootloader.
May be your phone is a unlocked version, which requires the vendor to unlock the bootloader first and then have to unlock the service carrier. In this case you would get that message for sure, without you having to do anything. This way you will not have manufacture warranty, but will have the vendor warranty. Check with the place where you bought that piece.
Btw, if you find out that it has already been unlocked, then you might as well can root it as it makes your piece worth buying. All the best.

This is for stock ROM's.
Yeah I know. I've only ever used stock and cm11. Never had a problem besides some of the status bar icons not all changing colors. Install always went fine.

Yeah some HTC 816 devices have the problem with busy box installation and that is why xposed framework doesn't work immediately after rooting.

Mine too, in the first try there is warning in CWM about losing root etc. (sorry for my goldfish memory), the second try is ok but Busybox stills show "missing applets". However, you can continue to install Exposed Framework.

Hey Guys,
I recently bought a Nexus 7 from ebay. The guy I bought it from had put Paranoid Android 3 on it. I am cimplete noob and do not know how to root or flash.
I just did something which I dont know how to correct.
GooManager kept telling me there was an update which when tapped on, would bring me to the .zip file i was supposed to dl.
I recently went into GooManager and denied permissions and then quickly re enabled them in supersu but now when ever I get the update prompt it brings me to the GooManager home screen with a message that says "GooManager has been granted super user permissions for an inactive shell"
What did I do wrong and do you have any idea how I can:
1. Fix this error
2. Go about updating the Nexus 7 to the newest version of paranoid
3. Can Someone link me to the full instructions on how to get the newest paranoid 3 on my nexus 4?

2. launch goomanager, hit check for updates, when it alerts you, let it down load and flash

but in the past when I would click on the update notification it brought me straight to the download file. now it just brings me to the goomanager main screen.
reboot the device and try again. or you can go in and clear out all data and cache for goomanager in your settings/apps/goomanager page
I did a reboot and then cleared data and cashe and the notification just vanishes when tapped. Not sure how this happened. Can anyone link me to the latest PA 3 link to dl. ill just do it manually and maybe it will correct itself in the future.

I have an associated question: does GooManager require the separate SuperSU app to be installed?
My device (a Motorola Xoom) is supposedly rooted, but SuperSU fails to install and GooManager can't get root permission. It's frustratingly difficult to tell (on this device at least) if there's proper root access - one checker app tells me the tablet is rooted, others say it isn't.

Well, I've never used GooManager myself... but the apps description on PlayStore certainly suggests you do need to be rooted to be use it.
You're a long way from the Motorola Xoom forums (wherever they may be)... but try, from PlayStore, running some app that requires root... like Titanium backup, or perhaps better, Android Terminal emulator (by Jack Palevich)... run it, and type...

One last thought that's just occurred to me.... you may actually already BE rooted (ie., have the SU binary installed in /system/bin or /system/xbin or wherever)... but you may be just missing the SuperSU app itself (and which 'manages' the apps you grant root to). But you can download it from PlayStore, here...

If you have some root SU binary installed, then Chainfire's SuperSU app should detect it... and either replace it, or update it.
Anyway... just some thoughts.
I really have no idea what other technical issues/problems there might be rooting a Motorola Xoom. And so you should hunt out the XDA forum for your specific device for more information... I'd be very surprised if there wasn't one.

Thanks for the reply. You imply that the SuperSU app *is* needed but that's the one that I've tried, and failed, to install. It just keeps telling me that the binary needs to be updated then, when I accept that, a pause and "Installing" followed by "Installation failed". I've tried the terminal program you suggest

If you can install a Custom Recovery like TWRP or CWM on your device, then it **SHOULD** (theoretically) just be a case of flashing Chainfire's UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94, via that Custom Recovery.
On Nexus devices, you use FASTBOOT to flash a Custom Recovery.... on Samsung Devices, you need something called Odin to do likewise.
Once you have a Custom Recovery installed, rooting should be a piece of cake.
Problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to get such a Custom Recovery installed on a Xoom.
Do a bit of research... XDA is a vast repository of considerably more knowledgeable people than myself... and somebody is likely to know something.

i have honestly not heard about this device and its looks pretty cool! i cant wait to see what development we might get for it.
I'm also very interested in the Yotaphone
As of now, it is available in Germany.
I really want to get one, I'm just waiting for the first user reviews an especially wheter the phone can be rooted and the reading app FBReader will be re-configured to work with the eink screen.
Hopefully, Framaroot will be able to root the phone and from a comment on FRReader's Facebook page, it seems that the Devs are collaborating with the Yota team to make FBReader compatible.

According to a Russian Board, the Yotaphone can indeed be rooted throug Framaroot (by using the Gandalf exploit intendet for Qualcomm SoCs)

Lets just hope that the bootloader is unlocked and we can access Fastboot or something similar.
IMO we don't even need full ROMs as the Yotaphone is running vanilla Android that could easily be tweaked throug the Xposed Framework and something like GravityBox

Ok, guys! I've just rooted my Yotaphone. android 4.2.2.
I need big favour now. I can choose only MTP and PTP connection. So far I couldn't found any good soft to mass storage connections.
Can I install any additional soft? For Example: "USB Mass Storage Enabler" was really close to connect "Mass storage mode" but after I choose "Mass storage mode" I don't see MTP connection on computer screen and nothing more.
Disable (uncheck) 'USB debug mode' that might bring mtp back.
Alternatively, freeze the enabler app and see if that brings mtp back.

I was able to root the yotaphone with Kingo root. Activated Xposed installer and Gravitybox. No problems were encountered during that but after trying for system upgrade, it failed and now phone keeps restarting. Going for factory reset now.

Reboot was because of lazyswipe. As soon as i installed after formatting, it again started rebooting. Uninstalling solved it later on.

i have asked Yota Devices for GPL'd kernel sources and their intention to support Custom ROM development in general, but so far I have not heard a real answer from them, just a link to the developer section on their website. That contains info for app-developers, not ROM development (at least at this moment). Maybe if more people ask, they will release sources, which will help development.
Bootloop after Chainfire 3d driver install

I have successfully rooted my Yotaphone c9660 using Kingo Root. I installed the driver in Chainfire 3d application. After that my phone restarted and entered a bootloop . After reading over forums and got to know that the bootloop happened because of the driver. The solution is to remove the library files using adb on the pc. But that requires a recovery like CWM. I have no CWM because I used Kingo. I dont think the phone also has a default recovery. Can anyone suggest how to fic the issue.

Is it possible to access the bootloader / download mode in this model? If so then you could attempt to unlock the bootloader, then look around and see if someone made a custom recovery like cwm or twrp. If someone has then you can flash that and attempt what you need to do.

I do have root, so I can report. I just installed it and am going through the rebooting process now. Notes:
* My custom boot animation did not change. This looks promising so far.
* "Android is upgrading..." message. Now to sit and wait as 139 apps get optimized.
* None of my XPosed modules kicked in, nor did DashClock load as my lockscreen widget. Hmm. That's less promising.
* SuperSU launches. Auto-start items are triggering Toast for being enabled with elevated permissions. This looks better.
* Checking XPosed. Says inactive. Updating and rebooting.
* Everything looks good. All my XPosed modules trigger. Root still active.
I can't find anything immediately apparent as present in the update, but the fact that it doesn't break root is good enough for me right now.

I had a similar experience, except that Xposed is still not active. It constantly says "The latest version of Xposed is currently not active." I have completely uninstalled/reinstalled to no avail.
Everything else requiring root is working, however.

I had that happen recently; after SuperSU updated it wasn't properly prompting for XPosed to gain access. I had to change SuperSU settings to allow the prompt to generate and be on top of any window and clear out the XPosed settings within. On the next open, all the prompts generated and I was able to grant access again.

I just did all that and got SuperSU to re-prompt. Xposed still says it is not active.
I just noticed something else weird; as mentioned before, any other apps that require root are working, but in Root Explorer, if I hit Mount R/W, nothing happens. I don't get an error, but it also doesn't re-mount.
I suspect these errors may be related, because in Xposed I can no longer install by writing directly to /system, I have to use the recovery method. So su is working, but enabling read/write on /system is not.
anyway to decompile this update to see what files are there?

It is broken, on latest minor ota through pc companion update, not restore, and trying to root with easy root but it isn't working

I just used my cousin's phone as a tester, it breaks root, haven't tested with supersu pro yet with survival mode
i swear, its like these companies dont want us to use the devices the way we want. A simple thing like root and they make it so hard, even impossible on some models. These companies should know by now that there is a niche which desires freedom like rooting.
if i wanted a frggin phone that didnt have root or a locked os or bootloader id get a dam iphone.
im seriously NOT buying another phone from a store.
ill make sure i get something i can work with the way i want. its already stupid expensive as it is just out the box all locked up and full of bloat wear.
it takes a stupid amount of time and effort just to make these devices do what we want.

Please just use the search feature, you can easily find the root method. The root method is even on the first page of this topic.
For reference (since my root access remained post update) here's what I have enabled in SuperSU settings:
* Enable SuperUser
* Show Notifications
* Auto-refresh apps and logs tab
* Enable su during boot
* Mount namespace separation
* Trust system user
* Enable permission warning
* Enable Pro
As I mentioned in a previous thread, root was obtained using towelroot on 4.4.4. I haven't run into any issues with root-check invalidating any installs since. The OTA installed without any error messages. I can inject audio into /system/media/notifications and I can create new folders on the root directory that remain after reboot. Maybe I got lucky? I hope by sharing this that other people can duplicate my findings and we can find a way for everybody to maintain a working root solution after this update.

I've been doing some digging and discovered I'm missing a file. Following the original directions for rooting, I created a script and have Script Manager executing it at startup.
The first command is:

This fails because that file does not exist on my phone. Anyway to get that back?
I had a huge problem with this yesterday and long story short, you cannot use the easy root method if this update is applied. I had to use the flash tool to get the last ftf files and start over from scratch. Avoid this if you can.
I don't really care to update but is there anyway to get the notification of the failed verification off my notification tab? I'm OCD about keeping my notification list clear...

only way to get the notification off is to go into settins then look for apps then look for update center. click on it and click on the clear cache. only problem now is. you will need an app like sd maid or something that stops that app from starting automatically when the phone turns on. this is what i do.. it works... you wont get anymore notifications unless you manually make it check.... i use sd maid...

Today, while doing my daily reading blogs, I found an article by El Android Libre (in spanish) of an app for rooting Android devices quickly, so I decided to try it on my own and effectively, the application success to root my Fire HD 6!. His name is KingRoot. I'm very excited, it worked, and so far I have not noticed errors in the operation of my tablet (at least, today). I could say that this is the ultimate solution to root the Fire HD 6.

This process is not yet totally safe and we have very little information. Indeed, it is possible to root the Fire HD 6/7, but there's a very high risk of the device is unable to boot.
Unroot instructions:
Open the KingUser app
Press the Settings button (upper right corner)
Then press the "Remove Permission Root" option
Confirm and wait a few minutes.
Reboot

The SU binary will be saved in the /system/bin folder after rooting the Fire HD 6, so I think that while this binary is not deleted you can use any other app for root management like SuperSu.

I restarted my Fire several times throughout the day and still root.
What is the app you've uninstalled?

Well, I try sideload SuperSu directly on my Fire but when I open it, the app ask me to update the su binaries, and a few seconds later shows me an error...
Any suggestions?

It seems you need to install an advanced recovery. The recovery that is built into our Fire does not allow flash apps, only allows to make a factory rese ...
The problem is that if you installed a wrong recovery, can bricking the system. Not sure if CWM Recovery works here.

I'm wondering how similar this Kindle is to the previous version software wise. Maybe some of the older methods will work now we have root?
This is the situation right now:
It is now possible to root the Fire HD 6 (and 7, as I'm reading)
The root is persistent while you don't uninstall the KingRoot app.
For now, you can not install the SuperSU app (throws an error)
Installing System Tuner Pro gives you the ability to uninstall system applications, review the logs of the kernel, modify the file build.prop, among other things (Other apps can also be used for do this...).
It is not possible (for now) install Gapps until to find an advanced recovery that it works with this tablet. Despite this, you can install some Google apps like YouTube, Google, and Google Search taking an alternative way. Read this thread for more information:

Hello everyone,
I've noticed that there hasn't been any threads about rooting the Xperia Z2 Tablet on lollipop. Most threads have discussed how to root the device on 4.4.4 and to create an update image to maintain your root whilst updating to 5.0+.
I've scoured the interwebs and found nothing so I'll make it easy for those whom don't know how to achieve root or don't want to do much work without creating images and such.
First off I'm not responsible for any inconvenience that may come with rooting your device and losing your warranty. I can and will be willing to help out in restoring or answering questions that you may have.
This method uses Kingroot... For those who have a problem with kingroot, it is only used to achieve root and this guide will also be showing you how to remove kingroot and install Supersu with ease. Using the link below download the necessary files: Kingroot V4, Supersume, XZDualRecovery 2.8.26. Place all these files on the root of your devices internal storage/SD card excluding Xdualrecovery as that needs a PC. (If you want to Xposed working I will also supply the files needed for that as well). https://www.mediafire.com/download/wrsajbgw2jr6czt
*Make sure you have unknown sources enabled under Settings>Security>Device administrators as well as Developer Options available and USB debugging enabled. (To enable Developer Options go to Settings>About Tablet>Build Number and click it 10 times).
1. Install NewKingroot.apk and run the application. It will notify you that a root method was found and to try it. It may take up to 2 minutes to achieve root. (If all you wanted was root and are content with kinguser then you're done! :good: if you want Supersu and/or a custom recovery then continue on to step 2!
2. Connect your Tablet to your PC via microUSB. On your PC open and extract the contents of TabZ-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26-RELEASE.combined.zip to your desktop. Now double click install.bat a screen will pop up providing you with options to install xdualrecovery. Choose option 2. Installation on ROM rooted with SuperUser by pressing 2 and enter. The script will run its course and tell you to grant permission on your tablet. Open up your tablet and a kinguser prompt will show asking you to grant or deny permission to ADB (Grant it!!!) afterwards your tablet will reboot on it's own to TWRP. (I advise you to either make a backup of the tablet now or after you install Supersu as insurance in case of any mishaps). Click reboot System.
3.Install Supersume, open the application and run it. It will of course ask to grant it permission (Grant it!!!) it will check the environment (making sure that there isn't any Pokemon nearby that you don't need... Sorry Pokemon Go reference) and it will begin removing kingroot and install Supersu. If you didn't have Supersu installed already great! It'll open up Supersu automatically. Supersu may ask you to update binaries (DO NOT click TWRP as it will reboot and you have to start the process over from step one!!! :crying: Just click Normal and once it says successful you're done! :victory: The next step is optional if you Want Xposed.
*Optional 4. Install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk. Open your app drawer and open NDR Utils. It will ask for permission (Grant it!!!) now here you may choose your preferred recovery... Philz Touch Recovery,TWRP or Clockwork Mod Recovery. Click Reboot to Primary Recovery (fourth option) once it's rebooted you want to click install>SD>xposed-v85.1-sdk22-arm-by-romracer-20160620.zip and swipe to install. You should get a success when it's finished. Now simply reboot and your apps will be upgrading. Congratulations you now have root with SuperSU and xposed! :victory:
**if you wish to uninstall Xposed simply reboot to recovery and click install>SD>xposed-uninstaller-20151218-arm.zip uninstall the application once it's rebooted and you're good to go!
***if you have a problem with Supersume not working, reinstall Newkingroot.apk and run it again to get root. Then run supersume again (Grant permission!!!) and let it run its magic.
If anyone has issues, has questions or needs help PM and I will do my best to help and answer all your questions. Please don't be discouraged because I'm new here! I will be soon adding a link to a video tutorial on how all these steps can be done!

Hi there, I also have SGP561 as well for Verizon. Verizon didn't release Marshmallowfor the device yet unfortunately. ???? still waiting and more then willing to confirm when it does

That's great news to hear! I picked one up and wanted to root and I did on KitKat but when I upgraded to lollipop I lost root and rooted it the long way... Needed something simpler and couldn't find anything on here. So I wanted to make sure a guide was available to all. Enjoy and let me know how it went

If you're talking about your google drive, there is no kingoapp.apk in there
All there is:
- supersume.apk
- tabz-lockeddualrecovery
- xposed uninstaller
- xposed v85.1
- xposed installer
I downloaded the most recent kingroot, which worked on my Verizon sgp561, and then I used your superuser file to change over to su. Seems to work just fine.. I'm on 5.1.1.
I tried the most recent kingroot and it fails.
An old version gave me an error code of 0x162982
