How to achieve deeper blacks on your Tab 8.4 Pro - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 General

The super lcd screen on the Tab 8.4 Pro is gorgeous with one small exception. Blacks are a bit muted.
A good way to improve this is with the following:
Download Screen Adjuster Free from the Market.
Use the following settings:
Brightness 100
Contrast 0
Red 10
Blue 10
Green 10
Make sure you click the button to activate it. You can pull up the menu by long pressing the apps button and choosing the option to run at startup.
You will notice black text now appears a little blacker.

Does it always stay on the same settings after a reboot? Effect on battery?

In for battery info.

One other option would be to flash the CM ROM. I find it does blacks better without any help.

screen adjuster free, has a lot of bad reviews about misplaced ads outside the app itself.

Decrease brightness

Especially at night the screen of the phone is to bright for my opinion.
Is there any app to decrease the brightness of the screen?
Screenfilter
On market + free = Awesome
What a brilliant little app. That is exactly what I've, been looking for...
Superb!
The only remaining thing I'd like would be a way to turn the screen negative too, so that I can flip bright white web pages to being black background instead. Happy to have the distorted photo colours this would induce.
Although thinking laterally, the better way to solve this in the browser itself might be with local css style sheet over-ride, (if it was possible?).
The negative screen mode would still be useful to flip other bright white apps though. Of course ideally, the screen would be negative inverted as well as having this screen filter available too, so that you could convert background to black and still also reduce brightness of text.
Anyone know if such a feature exists, or could be created easily?
Thanks
Mike

had to remove the battery to reboot the phone
SIlly mistake
You don't need an app, just run your finger left/right on the notification bar to increase/decrease brightness.

the minimum brightnes is still too strong in dark, therefore is screenfilter needed
Lowest you can get from the notification bar is down to 8%.
With a few different brightness widgets you can get down to 0%, which is still blindingly bright and not much darker than 8% to be honest... especially at night in a dark room!
This "screen filter" software lets you make the screen much darker than 0% by adding a grey lens over the whole screen for when you want it darker. It works really well.

Wow i didn know screenfilter exist. *Rushing to check it out*. Finally no more blinding light when in my bedroom.

Screen colour problem, please help

I was looking at Google Map when I noticed the colours changing. It was as if the contrast was suddenly being reduced making the colours look washed out. When I went to my Home screen my windmill live wallpaper is also looking washed out because the grass no longer looks very green. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I attach some screen captured to show what it looks like.

Go to settings>display>screen mode you have changed the color management. And see if you have enabled auto adjust screen power. Maybe on of those are responsible.

Do you use Custom Power saving?
Could be your battery running out, so its reducing your display to save power.

I'm not using power management and I have the phone on charge.
I've discovered why there's a difference in my Google Maps screens. It seems that sometimes the map is overlaid with a white circle which makes it look washed out. I attach a screen shot so you can see what it looks like. I think the circle is highlighting an area around my satnv location.
But I'm still not happy with my windmill which still looks washed out.
The colours on my windmill home screen have mysteriously returned to normal

wow man there is a huge difference.... no way my gnote is not doing this for sure... try to upgrade to 2.3.6 and see if that fixes it
you're sure it's not a 'feature' of the windmill LIVE wallpaper?
On the second image you have good weather, the sun is shining. On the first image however, it seems as if you have bad weather, no sun, only clouds, thus the gray layer.
So maybe it's nothing the Note is responsible for, but the weather dependend Live Wallpaper.
I know is not the same problem but maybe related,my device have some brightness change in the display, many times i'm reading and see the screen do some dimming the screen lower down the brightness and go back after like 30 seconds to the normal bright,I have enable the Auto screen power but i try desable and the result are the same.

I think you are probably right for nothing has changed except the weather.

[Q] Screen changes hue automatically? How can I turn it off?

Okay, so as the title says, the screen on my VZW GS4 seems to be changing the hue depending on what colors are being shown on different parts of the screen. For example, when I get a text and the little green icon pops up in my notification bar, the whites on the screen darken, and as soon as the icon is gone, they go back to normal.
The same thing happens in the youtube app. When playing full screen videos colors get lighter (and more unrealistic) and then when I click on the screen and the pause button and other menu buttons shows up, the colors darken and become more realistic.
I've turned Adapt Display off and this happens whether it in Dynamic, Standard, or any other of the display modes. This strange behavior is very familiar when the phone is set to the lowest brightness.
Anyone know why this might be happening or know a possible solution?

Just tried that and it still seems to be doing it. It'd quite annoying especially when in apps with dark backgrounds or night themes. Anyone have any other suggestions?

[Q] Screen Mode: Standard VS Professional Photo?

I've been trying out Professional Photo mode for awhile now but it just seems yellow-ish.
Standard seems to be okay.
Does anyone else have similar issues?
I was told that Professional Photo mode is more color-accurate

That mode has a larger colour space meant for certain professional photo apps. For movies, and everyday normal life use Movie mode. If you like exaggerated colours go for one of the other options.

Where are you seeing this? Mine look super (compared to the Note 2, which had notoriously bad colour handling).

Adapt Display Yes.
Auto-brightness No.
I use a Black Background on my Homescreen with White Text (DashClock) and it looks yellowish in either Pro Photo Mode or Movie Mode
I have tried professional photo as well, but somehow went back to standard mode. But for reading books, professional mode is nice as the screen looks warmer.

Weird, I use Ocean HD (beautiful live wallpaper) mostly since I got mine on a charger 90% of the time and discharge it fully every 2-4 weeks. Maybe I forgot to mention a setting or it is a defect of some kind (software or hardware).
Worst case you could reset your phone to default and immediately set it to Movie mode to see if your clean phone already has these problems. Hope you get this resolved soon, and by simple means.

maybe it is something wrong with my eyes. Standard is definitely more blue whereas Pro Photo and Movie are more warm in color.
there's a switch when I reboot my phone from Blue hue to warm.

Yes, after a reboot it starts at a default screen mode setting and after a couple of seconds it checks your settings and then changes it. I noticed this an hour or so ago on my Note 3.

The default is Adapt Display, which on your homescreen exaggerates colours, so my blue underwater Ocean HD screen looks even more blue. It switches to 'normal' blue.
I just checked some more settings, but are you by any chance using Power saving mode or any of those other fancy settings? Having owned 7 Samsung Galaxy devices by now I always immediately make a round through all settings and switch off everything that is useless (to me). I hate stuff like auto-brightness, which may be great in a car if you use the phone hands free.

hmm I use power savings mode but only Limit CPU and Disable Haptic Feedback. I unchecked Auto Adjust Screen Tone too (it supposedly saves power)
Do you use Lux to adjust brightness?
hmm. mine is a black background with just DashClock in White Text. it gets a little yellowish.
In Standard. it is like mint white.

I would disable Power savings etc. for now to see if it helps. I remember some option with "Lux" in it, but really I just disabled Auto-brightness and adjust the brightness level in the notification panel.

I gave it a try before but it still looks kinda warm/yellow. it is not like there is a yellow tint/screen but the screen just looks warmer.
I've actually never seen an Amoled with Perfect white color.. always a bit to the warm side..
I tried both Movie and professional mode, don't like them at all more yellowish/greenish on the white
especially when comparing it to an IPS LCD screen... then the NOTE 3 is very warm and a tiny bit greenish on white (standard mode) only really visible when side by side with example LG G2...
But then on the LG G2 skin tones looks a bit pale, and with to blueish/cold
so it comes down to what you prefer
I'm a bit torn between them... but when it comes down to choosing I think i prefer the Note 3 screen...

[Q] Adjusting Screen Color Temperature

Is there a way to adjust the color temperature of the screen to a more natural white? I have tried the few screen modes in the settings but the Cinema one is still not very natural to me.
Is there an xposed framework mod or Rom that can do this?
Thanks.
I'm looking for it too. Tried some screen adjusters apps but the result wasn't really good as they just apply a filter layer above. I was used to my Note 2 color temperature wich is pretty higher than the 6500k reference resulting in a colder white. The Note 4 display in fact is more acurate, but I found it too warm for me. Whites seem a little pink to my taste. Wish I could raise the value, but I guess we must wait for a custom kernel with this capability.
One quick tip that might help.
Go into accessibility visual settings. Do the thing with the color adjustment and intentionally get them wrong. then move the slider almost all the way to the left.
You will no longer get to modify the adapt dispaly photo mode settings... but it will give a color temp somewhere in between.
you can alwyas set a triple click to shortcut to accessibility to disable it.
Oh thanks! Still not perfect but quite better this way. And without need of dirty kernel tricks.
I think the note 4 screen is too warm.
Is there any solution to make it cooler?

Just compare it to screen of Note 3, and you will not want it anymore :cyclops: It is much more warmer!
