Benefits of A2SD?

Does apps to SD allow you to keep apps and transfer them to different rom's so u don't have to redownload everything again? What's the difference between using the app and partitioning the SD card?

Mainly A2SD helps with phone memory. You still need an app to backup your Apps if you install a new ROM, such as App Monster or Titanium Backup. Some apps don't function when saved to the SD, so check that before you think the app doesn't work.

[Q] APPS2SD How to disable for widgets application.

Hi all,
I am having some problems with widgets not loading in Elelinux 7.1.4 RC2 and i supouse they are related to integrated apps2sd. I have moved using adb theese applications to internal storage and I think they are working fine (at least in a couple of hours). Is there any other way to move apps from /sd-ext to /system or adb is just the way to not use apps2sd....
Many Thanks to all and sorry about my bad english..

I had this problem a while back when using a CM based rom. I think the best way to use apps2sd is to use the method where you partition your sd card. I think the rom your using has the ability to select the default location of installed apps somewhere in the settings. Dont let it force any apps to sd, choose what apps to move on your own. Hope this helps lol ive always used the partition sd card method
Doesn't work...
If you choose internal storage... it uses /data/app which a link to /sd-ext/app so it doesn't work ... If you choose SDcard I think it will use sdcard Froyo method...
Perdita2000
I always move apps to internal with root explorer. I have an ext partition so I move apps from data app to system app and this works fine for me. Don't forget to mount rw and it should work fine : )

Of course, this is true. Just not as easy as with root explorer for notices : )

It's true, what I want ti know is if there is any settings for this??? Un fact I don't think so, but could be wrong...I hope

There's no settings for this. With ext partition all apps go to SD. It does feel like a conflict to me between froyo apps2SD and the ext method as the phone settings I always leave alone as I think they assume you have the froyo ( Google ) apps2SD. I may be wrong but my guess is a dev like elelinux could do a script but he is so busy producing great work : )

How can i move my files?

Can u be a little more specific?
Titanium backup works awesome for backups if you have root,if not then you will have to do a directory crawl with a pc and back up that way.

i upgraded my rom (paranoid android) and it has android 4.2 on it. but with multiuser support, the sd card contents got redirected somewhere else, but it didnt take my files with it. so now none of my apps see my files. i need to know how to get them into a readable place.
You should have done a backup with titanium before installing the new rom, then you could have reinstalled titanium and restored appa and data. The multiuser file system is a pita, install your apps from playstore and then find the directories they hold their data and transfer it manually.Time consuming but unless you have a nandroid of you 4.1 that you could install to do a titanium backup on thats the way to go.

I made a nandroid already. My apps aren't the problem. I only need to get to my old sd card contents. That has my app backups from rom toolbox.
So you need to move your rom toolbox backup from your old sd to your new backup location so it can restore?
You will have to use a file manager or pc to copy paste from old location to the new one ,finding the new one might be a pain but I believe the old one should be sdcard/romtoolbox folder.

I figured out where everything was. My old sd card stuff was under "mnt/shell/emulated" while the new sd card was under "/sdcard". kind of a pain trying to find it.
Good to know.
Cheers

you have to download an app called SDFix so you can write files to the external SD card. by default KitKat blocked writing to SD card so this will override it. once you run the app then just rerun titanium folder location and it should work.

[Q] Titanium Backup and External SD card issues

I have the 7" Tab 4 and am running rooted stock ROM. Have Titanium Backup pro, but there's no option to "move to SD" for any application, even ones I know can be moved to SD. Also, using the regular Android interface to move apps, sometimes they fail with an unhelpful error of "Unable to move app to SD".
Also, I tried to move my Titanium Backup folder from internal storage to the external storage. Moved it using ES File explorer to /storage/extSDCard/TitaniumBackup but TB doesn't detect it, and if I browse to it and set it as the folder, it tells me the folder is not writeable.
Have you applied the kitkat sd patch/fix and reformatted your sd? I cant remember what you need to format sd to as mine worked striaght out of its package on my tab s.

Applying the patch fixed part of the problem - TB can now write to the SD card. I didn't reformat - SD card was working otherwise and worked straight out of the box too.
Still no "move to SD" option (or the reverse) though.
Try folder mount from the play store
http://www.devasque.com/foldermount/index.html
That's has the download and has the [How to] and tips
You can use an app like rom toolbox or link2sd and it should let you move the majority to your sd card. Now some apps do not allow this period. Its how the dev had coded their app to work but if you try these it may help a bunch. I myself use the rom toolbox lite and have no problems at all!
