however, i have a lot of apps saved on the current micro sd card.
Is there any way to backup sd card and switch it with a new one without losing data?
2) do you recommend buying exteme pro sd card?
there is a huge different between this one to the regular 64gb or not?

- plug old sd card into your pc using a card reader
- copy contents to your pc
- plug new sd card into your pc using a card reader
- copy contents to new card
BOOM! job done!

android folder on sdcard is not readable.
data folder on sdcard is not readable.
lol.

should be visable if you use a card reader as opposed to just plugging the phone in via usb?and make sure that folder options in windows is set to view hidden files and folders?
I've just tried with mine and I can see the Android folder and the .android_secure folder.
I think DATA is on the phone itself not on the ext-sd?

not sure, but usually the difference between sd cards is due to read/write speeds. best thing to do is read reviews from wherever you're buying the card and see if there are any from people using the card you've chosen with your device (or similar, like another mobile phone at least). if there are lots of reviews saying that it fails after a while, or that it is slow on their phone etc, then look for another one?
I have a Samsung branded 64gb class 10 micro sd xc (with the same "I" and "1" symbols as the one you've linked to, expect mine is plain black and samsung instead of sandisk. never had any problems, except for when i chose a custom rom that was not compatible with 64gb cards. but on stock rom it works perfectly, and even on other roms it will work fine if it's formatted on pc first with fat32 formatter.

[Q] Upgrading SD card

I picked up an 8GB SD micro to upgrade the stock 2GB. What's the easiest/best way to upgrade it without messing up the various applications that are using it? Can I just drag-and-drop from the phone over USB to the new card in a reader, then swap? Or are there partitions, etc to worry about. I'm not using apps2sd or anything special currently.
there shouldn't be any partitions. i believe if you just copy/paste everything over, it should be fine.
Thanks, seems to work well.
I decided to first format the card in the Aria, then drag over the files and swap:
Menu->SD card->Unmount
Remove original card, insert new one
Menu->SD card->Format
Remove new card, insert original one
Attach USB, go into disk mode
New card in PC
Drag and drop all but .android_secure and LOST.DIR (which were created by format)
Eject, unmount, etc
Swap cards
Good to go!
well done.
I am receiving my Aria this week and want to immediately swap out the 2gig card for a 16gig card I own. Can I do this before I even power up the phone for the first time? Is there anything on the 2gig card that the first boot needs?

Will this work if the SD Card has partitions? I want to upgrade to a larger card. I want to make sure all apps move and work properly.

[Q] Strange problem with 32 gb card

Ok, so I'm going crazy now, but I just can't figure out what's wrong with my card.
I bought a new 32 gb card. I know, I know, you're gonna say it's a fake card, but it's not. I tested it with H2testw and it fill up the card with 32GB of random data.
So, here's what's happening.
1. The card came formatted, I just swapped it with the old card and the Tab recognized it without problems.
2. I took it out and copied backed up files from the old card onto it.
3. When I put back the card into the tab, only a few folders were visible and other data that was copied and visible via the card reader was no where to be seen on the tab.
4. Then I took it out and tried repeating the process - same thing.
5. I tried quick formatting the card through the PC, and tried everything once again. Now the results were different, but again not all folders were copied.
6. I tried formatting through the Tab. The format went fine. Then I tried copying files through the USB cable (mass storage option). That also went ok, but a few of the files could not be opened. Scanned it with disk check and automatic fix error option.
7. Back to PC, did a full format with a Panasonic sd card formatter. Ran H2testw. No problems. Put the card back, re-rooted the tab (since I started suspecting it could be somehow related to this).
8. The card is back in the Tab, but it's still showing some strange behavior, such as folders dissapearing or files not being readable.
Anyone have any idea what to do? I would also like to note that the card works fine when in my reader, I can copy files to it, open them directly from the card etc. No problems at all. But as soon as I put it in the tab it goes crazy.
P.s. The tab is rooted, firmware is out-of-the-box. I have app2sd, but I didn't put any of the apps on the old card, and all apps work normally with or without the sdcard.
I dunno. Bad card? Or maybe just incompatible with the Tab?
just wait android 2.3 to fix this program

the card is fake,
i had this a while ago, i could copy files over fine and the files showed in the file structure in windows explorer. BUT if i restarted the computer loads of the files went missing, i then found out the 32gb card was in actual fact an 8gb card but some trickery makes it look as if you have copied 32gb over. the best way to test it is to copy over say 25 films at 1gb each, see it copy over, restart your computer and then see how many are left after the restart, you will then see how big your card actually is!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i hope you can send your card back and get a full refund.
I have tried a genuine 32gb card from expansys which works correctly in my galaxy tab (JM6 firmware) and my x10i.
AFAIK only Sandisk and Kingston make 32GB microSD cards now.
I got my Kingston 32GB card from Newegg and it works great in my Tab.
Where did you buy your card?
I would not dare to buy SD card from eBay or from a store that has no good return policy.

[Q] Swapping to a new Micro SD Card

Currently got an old 8gb micro sd card in my tab and have now got a new 16gb one that I want to use.
I currently have some apps, games and file on the 8gb card. Is there an easy way to transfer everything onto the new card so that the games etc still work.
Can I just drag and drop everything across??
Thanks
should be able to although you may wish to remove your apps from the sd card before copying the files (i think the files are encrypted or hidden)

New SD card help.

I am getting a new 16 gig class 6 SD card for my dhd and wanted to know the best way to move my flies over from my current one with out losesing any thing?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Google the program SyncBack Free. Its excellent at moving large directories and files.
Easiest way.
Connect to computer, copy everything off sd card, copy everything to new sd. easy as.
Yep, connect to a pc, copy all from old SD card to pc, then from pc to new SD card. Worked for me all the time.
I use simple backup to keep a regular backup of my SD Card by mounting USB to my ubuntu box, so install your new card in the DHD then restore Simple backup

Need help with 64gb sd card

hello...here's my problem:
I just purchased a 64gb sandisk sd card and it doesn't not work...
more specifically:
1) whenever i re-insert the sd card, it shows "blank sd card, need format" (ONLY if i formatted the sd using my pc before i insert it back)
2) i tried to format to exFat and FAT32 through my pc, it works..but when i insert it back, it's gonna show either "blank" or not able to read any files that i copied to it.
3) when i connect it (inserted to the phone), i cant move a large number of files, it's either gonna disconnect or some errors.
4) i notice whenever i managed to copy all my files to sd, after reboot, it's gonna show "blank sd" again.
5) i also try copying the files to the phone first and then move them later using phone's application, but when i wanna use those files, it's not usable.
6) i think sometimes it deletes all the files that i moved from phone to sd card.
Please help! any suggestion will do...ihv been looking for answers in this forum for like 3 hours.
(English is not my first language so bear with me)
do not use sandisk 64g, mine got file not found at random, using 32g is fine
As mentioned sandisk has gone downhill...Ive had issues with them also. That said it sounds like your card is no good. Return It if you can
Sent from my SM-N900W8 using xda premium
If you can return it--recommend the Samsung 64gb Class 10 on Amazon
ZERO issues and pretty fast
Did you try to format it with your phone ? not PC.
Because i also have Sandisk 64GB micro sdcard i had it since Galaxy S3 and now use it with Galaxy S4 , and have zero problem with it , it works just fine. I keep it almoust always full and even encrypted it.
