17.1.1.A.0.438 Certified for Z2 - Xperia Z2 General

New firmware version 17.1.1.A.0.438 certified yesterday for d6503-Z2 looks like only minor change/bugfix... According to 402-438 or maybe an operator release/update?

Anyone knows how to check HW version? I save A, B in HW version columm.
In most Asia Country, we didn't have 402 update.

Bell Canada is also like 3 updates behind i dont have anything passed .55.
If Bell is going to screw over its customers as always with a locked bootloader the least they can do is be on point with the god damn updates.

Sell it and buy one with unlockable bootloader. All branded phones that rely on updates from providers will only get major updates and support stops almost always way earlier then the support from sony.

Why should he sell device?!
You can flash any Xperia device with flashtool.
He just need to download latest flashtool (v.16) and latest firmware (German or UK generic).
Install flashtool and flash new firmware...
There's no need to unlock bootloader just to have latest firmware...

Could it be 4.4.3 by any chance? The S5 is getting it soon so it would be nice if Sony beat them to it

I doubt so, 4.4.3 builds should have a different build number, unrelated to 4.4.2. I rather Sony takes their time to make their firmware right instead of rushing out crappy updates to beat the other manufacturers. I feel thats whats been happening to samsung lately. Theres just no consistency in the reliability of their updates anymore.

Interestingly, the 14.1.G.2.257 firmware (which has been released) was only certified yesterday.
Already seen on some devices from two german carriers.
Hope sony will release a roll out note with improvements includet in the update.

Anyways, it seems that the UK unlocked LTE models have still not got the .257 update and good luck to getting the .259 ones soon... I know for sure that the French ones have started receiving the .257 update and an ftf must be somewhere in the General section ftf thread... Have a look there...

I assume we will have to flash back to a 6606 ROM to get this OTA when it rolls out?

Eh. 4.3 won't see much change as far as the average user on XDA is concerned. If you want real up to date i'd be waiting for kitkat, til then im sticking with miui, which ironically is based on the sony 4.2.2 firmware atm.

Unable to Install
My US Tmo Xperia Z is failing to install it. It boots to recovery, starts the update, and then reboots. My only changes is root and a few removed bloatware.
Can this be rooted? Also I know that there is sometimes an issue with ota updates of you change any of the system apps, I didn't remove any bloatware for this reason, only froze the apps in TB. Will I be able to install the update fine if I just unfreeze the apps?

All I wanted 4.2 was native group chat in the stock messaging program. But I'm actually a bit pissed. Sony is releasing 4.3 soon and now T-Mobile decides the 4.2 software is read to release. Crock of **** this is. Wonder how long they will hold off updating the phone 4.3.

Thats why ill be pleased to just slap the 6603 kit kat firmware on mine when it comes out, and keep my tmobile baseband handy. I hated the phone the way it came from tmobile, it ran far better immediately after switching to generic unbranded.

I was not able to update -> i just changed Customization Version/Revision to lookup. As far as i know there isn't an older vodafone.de branded .ftf file available which is rootable so it's impossible for me to check if root will be kept on OTA.

Why do you "all" think there won't be OTA update.
I'm reading threads and posts and can't believe what people can say without any evidence or proof..
There will be OTA and it'll be here soon.
Don't have link but that's the common sense and android police already talked about that...
I'm 100% sure, if you have rooted 257 and update to 290 via OTA - you'll preserve root on 4.3..

I can confirm. It is a small update and still 6.0.1 with 1 August security patch.

How disappointing

It wouldn't have been anything major with a build number like that
I have installed the software for E6853. The phone won a good fluency. Nothing else has changed.
no for z5 dual
whyyyy
Just downloaded and installed via Flashtool. Haven't noticed any changes. Patiently waiting for more news on the Nouget update!

I suspect they work on it for most devices, as we keep getting side updates and notifications from some Xperia apps about 7.1 compatibility. Today was from Sony Play Memories...
At least I hope

At the moment Just released for the following:
Z5(6653)
Z5C(5823)
Z5P(6853)
Maybe released in the following days for other items...
Has anyone else noticed double tap to wake is working correctly in this update? After testing it out this weekend, I haven't had the screen accidentally turn on while it has been in my pocket.
I have just updated and i can say that phone is smoother and there is no more lag when you try to view picture that you have taken inside camera app it shows it almost immediately also launching camera app is faster for me and photos are taken faster and with less noise in night.
Thats the things that i noticed from my view on my z5p a guess it the same things for z5.
Also mobile data icon is now separate from signal icon
I'm gonna sound stupid , but I need to ask any way. Where can I get the FTF file ? I just got mine today , it's a carrier bloated version I need to install the stock one. Thank you in advance.

Your carrier one is still stock. So what you mean you want a cleaner stock ftf, which will change the carrier or even the region.
Here is a list of latest ftfs, assuming you have Z5.

Or download XperiFirm.

Thank you!
Yesterday the update notification disappeared, now it says I'm up to date. I didn't install this update, still at .305.
Anyone else?
