[Q] USB Peripherals not recognized by Tab 4 7.0 - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having this issue? My Tab 4 7.0 does not recognize any peripheral plugged into it using the OTG cable. I've tried a mouse, keyboard and both a powered external HDD and unpowered usb thumb drive. These peripherals do work with my Note 2 so I know it's not the cable.

Kernel limitation
Hi, I have a SM-T230 and I tried to plug flash drives and HD and nothing works. I think this is a kernel limitation and flash a new kernel will resolve this problem, but I dont know which kernel is compatible.

I think a custom kernel on the 7.0 is impossible, it has what is suspected a combination recovery/kernel, as found by chainfire

[Q] [Ques] USB peripheral accessories on OTG enabled N4 (with external power supply)

I recently flashed hellscore b45 kk and @justvarshney's kernel patch for enabling OTG host. I can now successfully connect pendrive to N4
Then I tried connecting Keyboard and mouse to the phone. Ideally it should start up, or I should be able to use keyboard in textboxes. but Nothing happens.
I would appreciate any help in connecting and using USB accessories like keyboard, mouse etc to OTG enabled Nexus 4

I can't guess roots of problem. But I personally have tried keyboards mouses joystick with very same justvarshney kernel. They worked great even through à hub connected simultaneously with a flash drive. Might be try a clean ROM and check...

Installed the Samsung drivers? Updated your BIOS? Do other USB3 devices work?

Yes drivers are installed. Tried kies and nothing. Then I tried reinstalling drivers and still nothing. Mtp works fine. But any time I touch the usb 3.0 option on my phone it disconnects and switches back to mtp. I get a notice saying unable to connect devices via usb 3.0. I dont have any other usb 3.0 devices to test with.

Samsung Drivers are installed with proper CDC . Never tried updating BIOS . Other USB 3.0 devices like My WD HDD works just fine. I just now installed Win 7 64x Professional . Same problem . Also i tried to format the same Win 8.1 i had before. No solution yet.
Note 3 connect to pc only as mtp.

[Q] What wouls cause USB OTG to suddenly stop working?

I'm not really sure what happened but ever since KitKat, my usb otg wires wouldn't work as consistently as before. I chalked it up to having a cheap wire so I didn't mind it. Then I saw the app called OTG Troubleshooter and it tells me the problem is "No USB Device Detected in Linux". How did that happen when I assume all custom kernels and roms support usb otg.
I'm on Carbon ROM with F2FS and mkernel btw...

[Q] TWRP with broken digitizer / USB OTG

My Nexus 4's digitizer is broken and part of the screen is not responsive. Now I want to install TWRP custom recovery, but apparently it's only available as a touch version. I've heard that you can control it with a mouse, through a USB OTG cable, but apparently, the Nexus 4 does not support USB OTG? Is it at all possible for me to install TWRP?
Nobody?
Well, I know that using a USB OTG y-adapter + modified kernel, you can enable OTG in your ROM. However you would need to flash a kernel if you did not have one already. The easiest way to install is probably just flashing using ADB. Any reason that you can't?

(Q) Nexus 4 OTG

Good day everyone, I would like to ask why my phone does not support OTG. I need your suggestions.
First my nexus 4 runs on Paranoid Android Rom v5.1 with quanta kernel v18. I also made my own otg y cable by connecting the red and black wires. I tried to use otg but my phone does not connect to my flash drive. When I connect it, the phone charges and the flash drive blinks its led light so it means that my wiring is Ok. What could be the problem?
You need to use Stickmount.
