Galaxy grand 2 camera problem - Galaxy Grand 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have recently bought my new galaxy grand 2 on 1st june 2014, but when first time i opened my camera it was too blurry, its camera display even the pictures and video was so blurry and still is.. I did removed the plastic cover from camera lens and flash. will it come in warranty? cause it looks like its a manufacturing fault. I had read in samsung warranty that it does not cover normal wear and tear of camera lens, but it got bad camera since the day i purchased it, it does not look like 8mp camera at all.

Check your settings in camera settings.. make sure focus is infinite and not set to macro...
Make sure you touch on screen to focus on that part

make sure that you have removed transparent cover on your camera's lens..

I could not find macro in camera settings, there was no such option.
yes i had removed the plastic cover from camera lens but no use. Still that blurry display n pictures n videos .. will it be under warranty or not? cause samsung's warranty does not cover normal wear and tear of camera lens. but this is not a wear and tear. The camera is blurry since the day i opened my phone from the box.

YES, it will be covered under warranty. An often overlooked issue other than settinh=gs is finger prints on the camera glass, leading to fuzzy pics. please check that as well.

Galaxy Vibrant camera black dots

Hi,
Yesterday I noticed that that camera as a problem with black dots in all photos and videos. Now there are no spots on the back camera glass or anything.
I am attaching photos for your viewing pleasure
Can somebody please identify the problem with it. Is the camera lens it self damaged or some particles got underneath the glass cover that I can't see or is it a software problem. Also is there a way to take off the glass cover without opening the phone so I can clean the camera lens?
Please help me out guys, this is really very disappointing.
anyone ?. .
Send it to service center.. I had this issue once and it is not dirt cause i tried too clean it out too by opening it..
I got this from abroad its warranty isn't valid where I am now. Any other solutions ?
somebody please help, This is really annoying.
I have the same problem too, mine has 2 big blurry dots It is annoying when I take pictures in high lighted places, in the low light environment it doesn't show up.
Is there any way to open the lens to clean it?
same problem here, seems like some kind of dust got in the lens part, im going to watch some videos of ffc mods to see if it is possible to clean the camera lens.
Edit:
Found the solution, seems like the lens is scratched or something, doing a ffc mod will fix it as the ffc is attached to the 5mp camera, just buy a i9k camera from ebay and mod it.
@AkiraRyu good luck and let us know what happens, Also do see if its possible to lift the glass without opening the phone. Some pictures would greatly help.
I made small dots on the the camera glass to see if they gave the same result but any thing on the glass comes up very blurry on the picture. This definitely is something on the lens it self but its also highly unlikely that its a scratch maybe dust or maybe somethings wrong with the camera. If only there was a way to lift the glass without opening the mobile phone.
I have dust in my I9000 front camera...is there a way to open the phone and clean it?

yes, its quiet easy , i opened to try to clean it yesterday( i think vibrants and galaxy s interational are the same in the back).
First watch some front facing camera mods videos in youtube (ffc vibrant mod) to see how to open it up, you only need to get the 7 screws out and take out the plastic plate , REMEMBER to pull off the microsd card and the gsm/3g chip!.
if cleaning the lens doesn't work (like my case) you will have to buy a camera replacement, i recommend the i9000 camera so you also get a ffc. it costs in ebay 24USD (dont know the shiping to US as i live in another country) it comes with a plastic thing to remove the plastic plate easy and 2 screw drivers.

Good and bad news:
Opening is really easy, used my fingernails to open the plastic plate, after you get the plastic plate(not the back cober) the plastic protecting the lens also comes off, i cleaned it (A LOT) and the violet dot thing was still there.
there are 2 solutions... 3, first do nothing and keep the camera as it is(no way!) , second buy a vibrant camera replacement , or third (and best) buy a i9000 camera replacement.
In the third case you also get a front facing camera because the 5mpx camera and the ffc are connected, the look petty much like this:
androidsfinest .com /wp-content/uploads/2010/09/i9000s-camera-close-up-150x150.jpg
in the vibrant the ffc camera is cut off the 5mp camera and the place where the ffc goes is painted in black. the cameras are the same, lot of users on xda have moded their vibrants, search on youtube for guides on how to do it
i recommend : FIRST make sure to pull off the gsm chip and the microsd card (if you use one), use a ordered and clean place to do it, get something where to put the screws( lost one because i chose a bad place to put them).
Still waiting for a solution :s. I don't wanna open my new phone takes away all its glory.

[Q] Front facing camera not centered on Galaxy Note 4

Hello. The camera lens inside the hole (behind gorilla glass) is not centered.
It is much higher and very noticible.
Also my note 4 box (from Bell) came without a seal.
Please advise.
Anyone ? 46 views and 0 replies.....
Can ANYONE with a Note 4 PLEASE check to see if their front facing camera is centered ?
Mine fine.
Sent from the TermiNOTEr 4!
Happened a lot on the S5 too, , the camera not centered. Is no big deal
Mine isn't perfectly centered, but then I've never had a phone that is other than the iPhone and the HTC One M8. Even the rear camera is slightly off center. At the end of the day though, it isn't a huge deal. It won't effect the quality of the camera, it just looks a little annoying.
Trust me, if you want to see a REALLY bad front facing camera, take a look at the Sony M2.

I guess you are right.
I went to the bell store and they took out 2 new Note 4s. Both had front cameras off center.
It doesnt affect the camera quality I think so whatever.

My problem is with the alignment of the rear camera. It is pushed off to the right in the glass window. Also the adhesive trim sticker that is under the rear camera glass is failing, both around the circumference of the camera hole and the upper and lower edges. I went to Best Buy to look at their display Note 4s and they all had perfect camera placement, both front and rear.
Sure it takes pictures fine, but when you pay this much for a phone you want some level of quality control.
Has any one else taken their back? I am going to try and exchange mine later today.
Mine is off centered also sitting higher than the center point of the screen hole. Doesn't bother me too much but yes this is an indication of imperfect build quality.

My front cam is ever so slightly off center, but only by maybe 1/4 of a milimeter. If your camera works right I wouldn't worry about it.

Yikes, I would definitely exchange that. Some allowances must be made since these things are assembled by human hands, but that is not acceptable at all.

Camera moves...

Hey all, when i pick my phone up and turn it round quickly part of the camera moves, i cant see which part is actually moving but i was wondering if this is a fault or not ?
Sure sounds like a fault, don't see anything moving in the camera on mine.
Are you just hearing it move? I don't see anything move, but you can hear "clicks" sometimes when you move the phone quickly. This is due to the optical image stabilization.

Possibly due to the optical image stabilisation. This works by moving the lens when you move the camera, like a drinks holder moves on an aircraft to keep the drink upright, the lens moves in a similar way to keep the image stable.
Yeah i can hear it if i shake my phone and you have to pick up the phone and spin it round quickly and you can just about see it, at first i thought it was my eyes but i kept doing it and managed to see it again. Its either the lens moving or the grey/black bit around the lens.
My problem is that the rear camera looks off-center, it is pushed off to the right and slightly up. Also that the adhesive trim that goes around the camera looks like it has air bubbles forming at the top and bottom of the camera glass, also around the circumference of the lens hole.
Could it be that it is off-center on purpose and moves due to the image stabilization feature?
Are you hearing the camera lens move when you are on video and turning the phone over, or anytime you quickly flip the phone over. I hear nothing and see no movement when quickly flipping the phone over. I have attempted to bump the lens back to center and it doesn't move. I haven't noticed any bad shots yet but I just got the phone.
Anyone else have a misaligned rear camera? Air bubbles forming in the sticker trim around the camera?

I thought the Note 4 has software optical image stabilization so the hardware doesn't move it's the software?

Optical Image Stabilization specifically means that the image is stabilized before it is digitized, so it needs to be implemented in the lens/sensor. Old Samsung phones had digital image stabilization, like what you're talking about in software.
Edit: Just to clarify, the Note 4 still includes Samsung's old digital image stabilization, but also includes a true optical image stabilization lens. They call the combination "Smart OIS."
mine looks slightly off centre but will have to look under better light

i cant say i have seen any air bubbles but it looks like the glass over the flash is about to fall out
should the lens be moving then? because if it isnt supposed to then i need to take it back
I can hear something in my camera sensor moving when I shake it just as I could with a Nexus 5... that much is the OIS. Don't know about physically seeing it move though.
hmm its weird, if i turn my phone over slowly the grey bit around the lens looks like its right up against the glass and black bit around the edge and when i shake it it moves back, just done it a few times and seen it move as i turned the phone over again
Nah my camera doesn't move nor do I hear anything move when I pick it up. Something is not right with that

I swear I had picked at the edge to see if there was "another" layer of protection before, but I did it again and you are correct I peeled off a square donut shaped plastic film. That "fixed" my problem of the bubbling as I was convinced it was under the glass. The camera may still be off center, but now I can't tell since the protective film was my reference. Now it is so well blacked out I don't think I could argue with a store clerk to justify a return. So thank you. While it may still be off-center, now that it is out of sight, it is out of my mind.
Hey all, phoned o2 yesterday and they shipped me a new phone today and it seems a lot better however i did see it happen once so i duno... Only problem with this one is the silver frame around the camera is wonky lol. It looks like it needs taking off, twisting a bit and sticking back on (im assuming its the glass covering the camera so i hope it doesnt fall out)
I cant the button to quote lol but in reply to Shady_ saying "Are you hearing the camera lens move when you are on video and turning the phone over, or anytime you quickly flip the phone over. I hear nothing and see no movement when quickly flipping the phone over. I have attempted to bump the lens back to center and it doesn't move. Its when i flip the phone over quickly you could see the lens fall back. You could shake to the phone to get it to move towards the glass then flip it over to see it fall back. Ive seen the new one do it once but dont wanna go shaking it to try and get the lens to touch the glass incase its causes the same problem.
I too have a moving camera module when I lay the phone down its touching the glass (well almost) then if I turn it over quickly it retracts is this normal due to the ois as the camera doesn't seems to be affected

Note 4 Camera Problems?

Hello friends,
So I have been using my note 4 for almost 10 days now and ever since day 1 I noticed that the camera is so distorted, even with good lighting conditions, Also the focus circle keeps coming and going on it's own...is there a focus problem?? Also there are so many camera settings that are missing like Landscape mode, Night mode...etc etc.
My note 4 is the SM-9I0C Model.
Thanks in advance.
did you remove the 2 plastic sheets on the lens ? scratch it with your fingernail.
if they are gone then replace the note. bad camera probably.

Landscape mode and night mode I believe come on automatically depending on the conditions when you take the picture.
As for focus circle, that's probably continuous auto focus.
TWO plastic protection films on the camera lens ?
Sure ?
I found just one; the one with the circular hole in the middle.
Shall I try scraping off the lens glass ?

two. one flat plastic covering the whole lens and one plastic with a hole in the middle.

Feel free to call the Samsung customer help center, they may help you bring it in for repair by describing them your problem :fingers-crossed:

if there are two of them how can i get the second one off?! I tried to peel of something that looks like it's plastic protector with my nail but only my nail peeled off
In the camera app, next to the shutter button, there is a button for modes. In the modes list, you can download sport mode from the play store. That mode reduces the auto focus.

i peeled the hole one off by putting my finger in the middle and scraping outwards. peeled the non hole one off with my fingernail at the edge of the lens peeling upward.
Hi, I wonder if someone could help me... I wanted to download additional mode for the camera, Sports Shot, however it requires signing into Samsung account and that seems to be a problem. Maybe because I'm rooted? I have tried defrosting all apps related to Knox but it did not help. I have even tried to reset my Samsung account password and still receiving "processing failed" error when signing into the account. Does anyone know what to do to be able to download it? Or perhaps, does anybody have the app/mode itself?
Edit: all sorted - if you have a same problem, try the following:
go to https://account.samsung.com and complete all of your details, log out and all should work again, did for me
Hmmm...
It FEELS like there's something more you can peel off. But I'm not sure if that's a) possible to peel off, and b) if it's meant to be peeled off. Maybe a kind of glass protection.
Wouldn't make too much sense stacking two protective foils at once on the lens.
As my photos taken with the Note 4 turn out to real great, I don't wish to change anything.
But of course I am tempted to trying to peel off that additional layer, if it's possible at all. - But we know how it is: Once removed, you just cannot undo it 100 %.
replace your phone while you can if your camera focus is not working. ( if that what you mean ). because I have the same issue and if you surfed the internet you will find some guys suffering from this issue,,

nope!if there is something to peel off it just doesn't want to be peeled off i only was able to peel off the hole one..i don't know maybe it was a second one non hole only on your note or in some variants or just i don't know
had the same issue, had to have the device replaced.
no matter what I did it wouldnt focus on anything more than 3-4 ft away and focus was slow.

Weird camera flash problem

I have noticed a weird problem with my camera. It's an H872 purchased new in box about 2 months ago. It's rooted but running stock Oreo - only a couple Magisk mods (Systemless Hosts & Viper4Android).
Anyway, when I take a close-up picture with the flash, it looks good. When I take a distance photo with flash, there is a blue and/or hazy look to it. It makes no sense. It happens with any camera app I've tried. I've attached samples for reference.
Any thoughts? Thanks!
Do you use a glass / plastic protector on the lens?
No. I hoped maybe that one came on from the factory (that I could remove) but it doesn't appear to have anything on it.
Sometimes it's happened because of protective case which is too close to the camera lens and it scatters the light, sometimes it's happened because of dust inside the lens or sometimes only few scratches on the lens can make distortion like this. Check photos without protective case or check lens if it's scratched or there is dust underneath. You can try to boot in safe mode and check but I'd say it's a hardware problem.
Happens with or without the case. It may be a hardware problem, but then I would think the close up flash pictures would suck too. All other functions are working correctly. Also, using GCam with Night Sight works great too.
