L720T back to stock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I rooted my phone and now can't get the ota for the Wi-Fi calling. I do not really use any root features, so I figured I would just go back to stock.
I did not find any guides for the l720t so. If you could hint me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2748262
Does it matter that I have a different modem L720TVPUBNAF? I bought my phone on craigslist, so I have no warrenty or anything. If i risk my wifi not working Id rather live without wifi calling.

[Q] New S4, Tried to Root, Bricked, Have New 1

I'm looking for re-inforcement here:
After MUCH reading, searching here and the net, I tried Motochopper, which failed, then went to CF-Root, these very shaky old hands instead of clicking on the file for the L720, clicked on the file for 900.
Bricked it.
Sprint gave me a new one (didn't even have it a day), reinstalled FoxFi and can tether USB/Bluetooth, but not WiFi which I need for the Tablet.
Now I'm gun shy.
It would seem that there are 10-15 methods, but CF-Root seems the best and NOW I have the file for the L720.
I've an S4,
Software: L720VPUAMF9
Build: JD939.L720VPAMDL
S/W Boot Status: Samsung
Kernel: 2.4.0-529760 - Dated 4.27.2013
Can someone reinforce which method is the least prone to problems? I'm not that interested in flashing ROM's, just want the WiFi Tether.
Thanks in advance and for those who feel the need to tell me search/been discussed/look etc.,I have A LOT.

Didn't see it the sticky, probably bleary.
So CF-Root (with the PROPER files seems to be the way to go.
Thanks for the reply, it's a bit different then a pad, if you screw up the pad, your not out your only phone - just a pad (BUT not to downplay the cost).

I'd just Odin a rooted rom... it's way easier than using a root method, and as a bonus, you'll get familiar with the most powerful recovery method for your phone! It'll even fix most bricks!

I thought about that, but I'm relatively contented with the stock software/firmware. If there were a simple ROM, I might do it. I like the idea of - maybe- TWRP - but really only need/want to tether WiFi and add a firewall.
What'dya think?
AND why would it be easier?

It is an MDL but I didn't see a different file for the 720, just the 900 if it's a MDL or MF9 (foreign, I believe)?

Not sure if you have ventured out to try it again, but if not you'll find all your answers here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257101
Just do the OTA updates on your phone. Should be two of them at this point, one to MDL, then when it is done to MF9. After you see MF9, do CF autoroot. Then install TWRP as your recovery, followed by the HotSpot. Just do what the videos show and you'll be fine.
I think I did exactly what you did. I got my new phone and tried to install the HotSpot while on MDC (whatever original version was), after doing CF autoroot. Failed to read the part about HotSpot being specifically for MF9. Used Odin to reverse back to stock Rom and Recovery and ten followed steps I outlined from there. Phone is working awesome and WiFi is best I've seen. Barely uses battery.
I used the qbking77 videos from youtubes and was rooted with twrp recovery in 5 minutes tops it's the best way to do anything. To see it get done step by step is the best way for me.
For wifi tether several roms got it built in already.

The New I337UCUEMJ6 Seems Fine

Since my S4 is bricked and I have no MF3 Odin to save it, I put on the Beta I337UCUEMJ6. It works fine. Now my phone is alive. I'm going to keep this one at stock.
I've not noticed any big difference vs. the MF3.
The official MJ6 should come soon.
As if this morning there are mf3 files for Odin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46943588

[Q] Reverting from CyanogenMOD back to stock touchwiz?

So, not TOO long ago I used the CyanogenMOD installer app to put CyanogenMOD on my Galaxy S4(Sprint).
I've searched all over the place, perhaps I'm just not looking in the right direction.. Now I'm turning to you guys.
While I like CyanogenMOD I really don't feel as if all of the features you give up with stock TouchWIZ is worth it.
I would love to be pointed in the direction on how to revert back to pure stock.
You flash a tw ROM. It really can't get any easier than that.

How do you do that if the phone isn't recognized by ODIN? I installed CM using their auto-installer and now Odin doesn't see it.
My phone wont boot now and I am trying to re-flash stock but I can't find anything but .tar files for ODIN.
Try reinstalling the drivers. There isn't suppose to be anything but tar files for Odin. Like there aren't suppose to be anything but zip files for recoveries.

Would I be able to do this in Clockwork Recovery? Flashing with ODIN always leaves me with a FAILED since I moved over to Cyanogenmod.

Yes, I did OTA the 4.3 update, and yes I was trying to use a 4.2 ROM. If I'm understanding what you're trying to convey correctly.
Right now I'm downloading this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567353

It only has a custom debloated ROM in that thread. To get the full stock unroooted MK2 you need the file from this thread.

I would run the MK2 or NAE tar file from the development section. It will restore your phone to factory setup. However it will install the Knox bootloader. It's likely the easiest path.

And the NAE TAR 4.4

As long as the device has a clean ESN with Sprint the buyer shouldn't have any problem activating service. This is the case whether it's rooted or not.

I should probably mention the one thing I did do was I kind of used kingo to unroot it thinking it was going to factory reset it afterwards or at least give me the chance to, but all it did was say root was removed. I was still on the leaked NC2 build though so that's when I started trying Odin and the firmware zips. Idk if this could be reason why? Like I said I am in download mode but my info reads as follows now...
