[Q] G2 recovery cant mount cahce or run adb - bricked? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, the other night i went to be and my phone woke us up making a ticking noise. i looked at the screen to find it suddenly asking for a password/pin to decrypt. i have NEVER encrypted or even looked at the menu to encrypt my phone. the phone is also completely stock from verizon, although as i understand the vzw variant claims to be rooted. i do not have a pass or pin to unlock. it also says i have 0/10 attempts left to enter my pass/pin. if i enter one at random, the attempts remaining changesto 1/10. this seems backwards to me. if i enter any more false passwords the number does no go up or down anymore. i can access the hard factory reset screen by using the vol down +power key combo but when i confirm the device to wipe i get e cannot mount cahce and e cannot open cahce log. it also says unknown error 150. if i try to wipe cache it says the same thing. i tried to use the sideload from adb option and my computer recognizes an adb connection but it only allows me to run the adb sideload command, which fails due to the mounting errors as well. if i try to run any other adb commands it immediately says "closed" in my command prompt. i cannot load any images from sd card either since the phone has no sd card slot and i cannot access the internal storage in any way ive tried. i went to use the lg flash tool to try and just flash a new image and everything goes fine until the 15 or 16 second mark and then it tells me it fails because the erase command is unsuccessful.
im getting ready to send it in to lg or verizon but i just hate being beaten by such a mysterious problem. can it not mount or give me access to overwrite with the flash tool because of encryption? or is it "encrypted" due to a faulty chip causing an issue? its weird that it can still boot to this pass/pin screen, it has the standard soft keys on bottom of the screen, so it looks like th UI is actually still being recognized. also, i am/was connected to a corporate exchange server but we have never had a policy in place to require encryption and there is another android user in our office who has not had this happen. i am the tech guy and i have verified this. can anyone help me at least understand what the problem might be? i just hate not knowing, even if i still have to send it in. is it truly hardware? or is it just software gone crazy?

[Q] Accessing phone via ADB

First I'm using a MAC...
Sooo... I dropped my phone (STOCK SGS4GE, No root, Locked bootloader) while putting some things in my car and ran it over. Screen is destroyed, so i can't see anything.
I would like to get all my pics and stuff off the phone, and do a factory reset before sending it back to the insurance company.
Doing the reset isn't that big of a deal as I can mirror the buttons pressed blind on the phone as I have access to another.
I have my SIM locked upon boot... not sure if this matters.
(im pretty sure my phone is in debug mode... also wondering if I put in an unlocked SIM, if i will be able to connect.?)
When I plug my phone into my computer, Android File Transfer (AFT) loads, and then an error pops saying no device is connected.
doing an ./adb devices returns nothing.
Putting the phone into download mode, ./adb devices returns nothing.
If boot into recovery mode, and select 'load update via adb'
./adb devices returns
List of devices attached
cb4cxxx8 sideload
So far this is the only way I can get ADB to recognize the device, but as some of you may know... it appears what I can do is limited; I am unable to shell into the phone etc.
Anything I am missing/Any ideas for me getting my crap off the phone?
Help?

Trying to recover photos on soft-bricked phone

Hi all,
This is my first post here, I'll try to include everything but please let me know if I am missing any info. I'm using Windows 10, my phone is using Stock ROM 6.0.1, carrier unlocked from Telus to Rogers but bootloader shows device is Locked.
TLDR: I'm trying to recover the photos from my soft-bricked phone before doing a factory reset. I've tried to manually flash the firmware with fastboot by following the steps in service.xml, but the commands all appear to return OKAY without errors but there's no change in the phone's behaviour.
More Info: I've spent the last 2 days reading up on here and elsewhere online to learn as much as I can. I am honestly not sure what caused it the soft-brick. I was using my phone normally yesterday morning when it froze while browsing Facebook, so I tried to power it down, but I got caught in a bootloop and it wouldn't go past the logo screen. It's part of my morning routine to run updates, and I often (though not yesterday) transfer files to/from the phone through a USB cable, so could it be an internal memory problem? Other possibilities, while I was careful ultimately I did download an apk for Pokemon Go before it was released in my country, and I did also download a battery saving app, so there's risks from both of those but the timing seems wrong...
I can get into bootloader and recovery mode, but not factory mode. Wiping the cache partition did not help. The only way to power the phone down is from bootloader, otherwise the phone goes straight to the logo screen.
I've installed ADB/Fastboot using the 15 Second ADB Installer here, and believe I have all of the correct drivers from the WinDroid install. However I did not enable USB Debugging before this happened, so the only way I can get ADB to see the devices is to go to "Apply update from ADB" in recovery mode, but running "adb devices" brings the phone up as sideload. If I'm in bootloader, "fastboot devices" sees it, "adb devices" comes back empty.
I used the file XT1563_LUX_RETCA-ROGERS_6.0.1_MPD24.107-52_cid14_subsidy-RGRCA_CFC.xml.zip from the File Factory folder, and it looks right according to the software version in the .xml files, but I'm still new to this and I'm not sure if my best guess is educated enough.
In general I'm not too squeamish about voiding the warranty and don't care about losing my apps, it's the photos that I really do not want to lose (shame on me for not backing those up!). I'm wondering if there's a way to get my photos back before unlocking or doing a factory reset, but if there's a reliable recovery software I can use after the fact I may have to bite the bullet.
TIA for any help.
An update. I chose to wipe user data (NOT including personalized content), the phone rebooted but is looking different from before. Which in and of itself is alright, but makes me wonder if I flashed the correct firmware...?
During the setup process, I was given the option to restore data from 3 days ago, which was when the soft-brick occurred. I chose to recover most of my apps, however I can't see any photos. I tried Recuva but it could not see anything, I'll be trying trying the Wondershare Dr. Fone Android Recovery program and hope it finds the photos.

[help request] unable to access UI / recovery, no USB debugging, only fastboot

I have an issue I'm hoping someone can help me with. I'll try to keep it brief.
I rooted my phone, successfully, but in the process the phone app mysteriously disappeared, not sure why. I download the stock apk's from 'theandroidsoul.com/download-lg-v20-stock-apps/, and dropped the phone app into the system app directory, set the permissions, and rebooted. Yes, I know that was probably pretty stupid to try.
Anyway, I can't access the UI as the constant, endless crash caused by com.android.phone. Phone OS is done, so I attempted to get into recovery, re-flash, no big deal.
In previous LG phones, to access recovery via the hardware buttons, you had to go through a menu that made it appear your phone would be factory reset, but wouldn't, and bring you to TWRP after selecting 'yes'. Except with the V20, it actually does reset your phone. USB debugging, disabled now!!
So I can't find out how the hell to access recovery from the hardware, USB debugging is disabled so I can't adb push recovery files, can't access UI, and every fastboot command I run returns 'remote:unknown command', probably due to the USB debugging authorization being revoked.
I know I got myself into this mess, I tinkered too much, and I realize it was an amateur move.
My question is, how can I get out of this? Can't use LG flashtool as I don't have relevant .dll. Can't access recovery (so far; I've tried 50x). Can anyone help? Do I just need to wait for LG to release TOT / KDZ files?
One clarification - when I select the option to factory reset via the hardware button menu - TWRP actually performs the wipe. So its on there. It just resets it and reboots. I can't get into TWRP!
Im having the same problem. "encryption unsuccessful" on white screen. dont know what to do or where to go from here.
All we need is the .dll file for the V20 so we can flash the TOT with the LGUP tool. Until then I think we're out of luck.
Bricked stuck on white encryption error corruption
Messed up. Bricked lg v20 h18. Hopefully someone can help us.

Recover data from broken screen and digitizer, adb not detecting phone in recovery

I realize there are many other threads on this, bear with me please, I was not able to find a solution that works.
-display is broken, shows light but nothing else
-digitizer is 99%? broken, back and menu buttons work, there is some heptic feedback in upper part of the screen
-phone does not have a lock pattern or password, just swipe to unlock
-voice commands work
-phone was rooted a long time ago, I don't recall the mehod, I think the current OS is likely 4.4 but i'm not sure (is there a way to check)?
-I had a custom recovery on it which i think was CWM, again, not sure how to check this now
-I can install apps via web appstore
-At some point I installed a clockroot app (never worked) it's probably still on the phone
-I don't have OTG, ordered one
-I don't want to order a new digitizer
Here are somethings that kind of work and some that don't
-dr.fone shows a USB debug promt with instructions on how to accept the RSA key. I'm guessing USB debugging mode is on but it's not the same computer
-if I have the device in download mode, it is "sometimes" recognized by dr.fone, just says its in download mode and asks to reboot
-if I have the device in recovery mode (i think), it's not recognized at all, does not even show up in device manager
-when phone is just on, it's recognized by the computer, I can browse and backup files (i need to backup google auth app)
-with phone on, its recognized by windows and adb, adb says the device is not authorized.
-however adb does not recognize it if I boot into recovery
I think my best best to just to push the rsa key to the phone in recovery but I'm stuck because the phone is not recognized. I will try re-installing drivers next but I doubt this will help.
Lastly, I wasn't sure if I really do have CWM installed or its stock recovery. So I tried to flash CWM using Odin, with phone in download mode, recognized by Odin, the flash fails with an auth error, i'm reading that might mean the phone is not rooted which is 100% not the case here, maybe the rootclock app is doing something to it.
Any advice?
I'm starting to recall the rooting process a bit and I'm fairly sure I used safestrap method, as I was on 4.4.2-4 NJ something kitcat at the time. So I may not have CWM installed after all.
little bit of progress to report. I'm fairly certain i have safestrap recovery on this phone. So booting into recovery must have been bringing me to the safestrap screen that needs a screen tap to recovery or continue. If I hit power it reboots, if its only 2 options recovery or continue to normal boot, volume down move me to the other option, + power....now adb detects the phone! in sideload mode, lets see if I can do something with this, fingers crossed.
no luck, sideloading seems useless. How can i get myself into recovery!?
I think if I can push the adb rsa key I would be set to use one of the screen mirroring apps. How can I sideload it in?

Galaxy A3 2016 - SM-A310F ... a lot of problems ;)

Hi guys,
the phone is from my sister and it got hit by some tool from her (ex-) husband. The screen has been hit on the left side with destroying the battery too. So I have NO display, NO Touch. Latest Android (I think 7.0.1) is installed. The phone has never been tampered with and all is stock.
Because of all the photos from kids and cat she asked me to rescue the photos from it - and then the fun began.
Of course I bought a used A3 2016, but the display showed just static crap. A new display spare part did the same ...
The mainboard seems to be working ok - I am with Apple Phones only because my employer tells me to
It is for almost a year now, and I cant get to the photos.
So far I've read that I should root the device so I could access the filesystem to just simply save the jpgs. Of course no USB-debugging enabled the phone is locked with a patternlock ...
Problems so far: I cant get the phone into Download-Mode - it seems to bee booting through and after 30-40 secs my PC recognizes the device as it should, but the file folder is empty.
I can get into recovey-mode, and there I'm stuck. I can use "get update by adb" and adb shows me, that the phone is in sideload-mode but any upload ends with an error at 0% ...
Total factory reset could be an option, because I think I can recover most of the files from internal storage, right?
So I decided to ask the PROs and ask for help and/or ideas here ...
Thanks for reading !
How would you recover the files if you factory-reset the device? Are they not saved in standard locations? If yes, a factory reset will remove all normal user-files.
Are you able to get into an ADB shell from recovery mode? ("adb shell" command)
If you can get a shell, you could navigate to the directories and download ("adb pull <file>") the files to your PC.
I believe you could get a shell from TWRP. If you can flash the recovery with TWRP and boot into it directly via console (unfortunately I don't have a command handy), then you might be able to access the shell, too. (Take this with a grain of salt, but it's better to try it before doing a factory reset.)
Do you know if the storage has been encrypted? If so, then forget everything I wrote.
