[GUIDE] Comprehensive "Rooted Android 2.3.4 with unlocked bootloader" instructions
This is a guide on how to go from Froyo to rooted Gingerbread. Also, I'm on AT&T. Others beware. I take no responsibility if you hard or soft brick your phone.
I went from a rooted install running Gingerblur v4.5, but this will likely work regardless of what you have installed, since fastboot overwrites everything.
I didn't actually discover or develop any of this, but I figured someone might like to have a comprehensive guide, instead of searching through 500 different threads like I did.Known/potential issues:
- Fingerprint scanner not functional False alarm
- Avoid using RSDLite for *anything* if you installed the OTA 2.3.4 build
- Battery reading is sometimes inaccurate
- If you have a limited RAM issue, read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409Step 0 - BACK UP EVERYTHING. Use Titanium backup, or just copy everything off your phone, whatever. This will leave you with an unlocked, rooted, but otherwise stock Motorola phone. Once this is done, set your USB mode to "None"
Step 1 - Install moto drivers

For x32, http://www.multiupload.com/QNFILE4F07 (I havent tested these, I run Win7 x64)
Step 2 - Unlock your bootloader Note: some have hard bricked using RSDLite to install 1.8.3 over 4.5.91. Read warning here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160408
Download latest moto-fastboot from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092 *the win32 version worked for me, and I run 64bit windows 7*

Step 3 - Flash stock Gingerbread image (you can do this without restarting your phone from the unlock bootloader step)

Note: I used my phone's USB Mass Storage mode to put the .zip on my external SD card. To get to recovery mode, shut down the phone. Then hold the power and volume up buttons until you see "fastboot." Use the volume down key to cycle through until you see "Android Recovery" then press volume up again. This will get you into the CWM environment, where you can navigate the menus to install the root .zip.
Step 6 - Restore your stuff
Now you should have a factory fresh Gingerbread / MotoBlur installation (didn't you miss the bloat?), with the addition of the superuser app. For tethering, I use Barnacle (requires root). I used Titanium Backup to uninstall any apps I don't want (anything beginning with AT&T, Blockbuster, Y!, etc.) and to reinstall all of my apps.

Does this include the official 4.5.91? So many warnings about hard bricking since people flashed it.
From what I can tell, hard bricking only occurs when you use RSDLite to flash an older motorola SBF once you've gone to gingerbread. But someone else should chime in on that one - I never got a notice for an OTA update.

I didn't either. I downloaded a .zip and installed via stock recovery from a thread in the General Atrix forum.

Nope, this one is the completely safe one.

Ah you have the deadly firmware
You simply cannot use RSD to flash down to 1.83 or 1.26 etc.
Or you will brick.
Clarify in Q&A, make your own thread with your question.

Fruit cakes basically dont touch your bootloader, they're basically modified sbf files that only contain the needed files to flash stuff. There's a 1.8.3 fruitcake in there as well as a 2.3.4 fruitcake.
An HKTW fruitcake is in development.
Fruitcake is the .sbf equivalent file that is flashable via CWM.
The big question is this - can you RSDflash the unlocked bootloader SBF by itself once you have the firmware of death? Once you have the bootloader unlocked, everything is gravy.

From my understanding, if you flashed the official firmware of death you CANNOT use RSD in any way. All of your flashing has to be done via CWM and fruitcakes. Full .sbfs will brick your phone. Hard brick. As in #@$% ME hard brick.

Weren't there some reports of issues restoring via TB after flashing Ken's beta 4.5? I'd have to search through his thread, but I thought it presented an issue or two.
So I guess no sweet Roms for me. Still haven't found a good thread to root my phone. I'm not sure if the FOD would mess with the rooting part of it.

I chose the batch "Restore missing apps with data" option from Ti Backup and it worked flawlessly.

Perhaps it was settings then and not apps. Appreciate the information. I'll be doing that tonight
after i unlocked the bootloader
i flashed CWM
then i use CWM to flash 2.3.4 GB beta 4 zip from kenn
i like it better my way
if you are still on 1.8.3 stock, you can get a copy of 4.5.91.sbf file by using Motorola Software Update, handy if you need to flash a clean version of 4.5.91 on 4.5.40 or 4.5.91(OTA upgraded).
by default, the sbf file is saved to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Motorola\Software Update\firmwares\1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf.gz
copy it to somewhere else before Motorola Software Update finishes flashing or it will get deleted automatically.

Have you flashed it yet? I sent Kennithpenn a pm about this and he asked me not to release it. He also told me it is not safe to flash via rsd!!

at first, I used Motorola Software Update tool to flash, it flashed successfully - as expected
then I tried to flash it using RSD Lite v5.0, also flashed successfully, it actually did not erase user & data partition, retaining all apps & settings.

the phone was BL unlocked before, I flashed from 4.5.40 back to 1.8.3 sbf, then " fastboot oem lock" ( not sure if it locks the phone back), then Motorola Software Update tool & RSD.

Ok, well 4.5.40 was never released so thats probably why you where able to downgrade to 1.83. Im not sure if it is a good idea to flash this after 4.5.91 though. probably not a good idea to release unless someone has the ball's to flash it from 4.5.91 bl unlock.
edit: well you flashed it via rsd after you used Motorola Software Update. So it might be all good..
edit: **** it, i've got insurance, im going to give a go... I was bl unlocked and flashed leaked ota
edit: confirmed, 1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf is safe via rsd 5.3.1 after ota bl unlocked 4.5.91!

What do you mean he told you not to release it. The upgrade file is freely available from Motorola now. You can download direct to your PC from the software updater.
Would this work for me if after pulling the OTA I am stuck at the Motorola M with Dual Core? Could I flash this SBF and get my phone back up and running? I tried using the Motorola Software Update software but not sure what mode to connect my phone for it to recognize it.. Connected via Fastboot the software says:
"Motorola Software Update is unable to identify you device at this time. Please Try again"

Question: So if I do the OTA update, then I MOD the hell out of it. I can use this SBF file and RSD to go back to stock and my phone will be like nothing ever changed...???
you shouldn't install this directly, but it is very handy to have (in order to extract images)
my method is to download it through the program but disconnect the phone as soon as it starts to download. when it finishes, you should have the file there, copy/move it whatever and exit the program.

Yes, but just like the ota, after you flash this, you can never flash firmware lower than 4.5.91 again or you will get a hard brick. Also depending on what ROM you are on before you flash this you may have to manually wipe data because this sbf does not.

Hi guys! Maybe the tittle is getting you confused, but it's so, now you're gonna unbrick and revive your Droid pro and also install de last update ( 4.7.3.XT610.Verizon.en.US) for your phone. "IT MEANS IT'S ONLY FOR VERIZON MODEL". Just follow the next instructions and you'll get it .
I know like me, many of you have gotten a brick in your phone or have your phone bricked for the time being. The first step that we'll do is unbricking the phone.
First:

Extract both archives, install one of the two installers of RSD, once RSD is installed, search for the DROIDPRO_2.26.20.sbf file that extracted.
Third:
Let's get your droid pro into bootloader mode,for this keep volume up and volume down keys + power button at the same time for 5 seconds, if do it right you'll get onto a screen like this,

For update your for to the last version just go> Settings>About phone>check update after first update and reboot, phone will show a pop up message with a new update, download and install all necessary times.

Very useful post, since noone before mentioned the bootloader mode, only fastboot that didn't work in my case. I need to try this when I get my phone back from a magician who is trying to fix it....
Regarding the post itself, you should clearly declare that the SBF is from American (VERIZON) model, since it will brick European ones even more than they already are

That the Pre-final update for "Verizon" motorola droid pro, android 2.3.3. And yes, If Your phone is the Verizon droid pro, you can flash this firmware. Don't worry, ask all what you need

Why don't you work on developing CM9 and CM10..???
EDIT: Can't I use ADB commands on Droid Pro..?? I tried entering "adb devices" into Command Prompt to list attached devices but it showed nothing in the list.. Phone was connected with the PC in Charge Only mode..

I am using the Stock GB 2.3.4, and yes USB Debugging is enabled.. I have the drivers installed..

I don't know but, maybe ADB is not supported in stock. Now, i'm going to flash stock firmware in my phone, i'll let you if ADB works for me.
I bricked my phone, flashed the SBF using RSD Lite but still getting bootloop, Droid logo in red color coming again and again..
Please help..
EDIT: I got it working now, after flashing the SBF, I went into recovery (R+M then Volume up and down keys) and performed "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition", and now it is working..

Every time you flash the firmware over a custom rom, you must do a factory reset from recovery.

Press both volume buttons when you see the exclamation mark, and you will get the menu.
I did an OTA update, and SMS stopped working and also my screen wouldn't shut off automatically (nor when I hit the button).
So I tried flashing back to the 4.4.2 version from sbf.droid-developers but I got an error.
No valid PIV block in SP for system
piv validation failed (system)
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure
Now I'm stuck in AP Fastboot. It says Battery Low, but I can get it to say Battery OK by plugging it into the wall and then rebooting it or something weird like that. It's hard to get it to do it but it's possible.
Anyway, it doesn't matter what version I try to flash now, boot and system give me errors when trying to flash.
Partition (boot) Security Version Downgraded
It seems like I need to be unlocked in order to downgrade, but to unlock I have to get out of fastboot. Am I perma bricked?
Not sure how I fixed it to be honest, but I'll try to recall some things that might help others.
At the end of a long road of reinstalling drivers, fighting with the low battery, trying various versions of the firmwares, and trying multiple scripts/tools, I got it to work.
I ended up using (not sure how much of this is relevant);
Motorola Drivers from the Motorola Device Manager
RSD lite, v6.1.4
The newest 4.4.2 firmware

The only part of that which would be relevant is if you did in fact use the newest 4.4.2 firmware. This would be 18X.46.15. The reasons that is relevant is because (1) you titled your original post that you were attempting to un-do the most recent update (which you have now successfully installed again) and (2) If you are on the .15 firmware and not .10, you will not be able to unlock your bootloader now. You may or may not be aware of that already. Otherwise, you did exactly what was needed to make your phone operable. :good:

I used the newest 4.4.2 on that site (which is .10). I was getting errors before and the only glaring difference is the version of RSD lite. I dunno why it worked then and not before.

Well, now that you mention is, I suppose an older version of RSD Lite might generate that error. .10 is the money version of 4.4.2 - if you have .10, you can still unlock your BL by following the tutorials for KitKat to do so. .15 is the -newest- version, but primarily, it's an update to fix the exploits that allow .10 to be unlocked and rooted, so don't do it before you unlock. Once you are unlocked, .15 is fine - you will still be able to install a custom recovery, root, etc. I would install the recovery before you update as well, personally. Good luck!

I'm still having most of the issues that made me try to un-do the update anyway.
Texts take ~20 mins to send out. Phone calls seem okay. Google Play Store freezes non-stop (downloading/installing new apps takes forever, usually gets stuck downloading around 75% regardless of the size of the app). If I go to Developer Options, the Settings app locks up until I close it (I wanted to see if I could switch to/from ART). Battery might be draining faster too.
I'm afraid to get stuck back at the fastboot. What should I do?
What can I do with this? I installed the update and I wasn't able to root my xt907.
As stupid as I could be, I went inmediately to RSD with the same ROM I flashed just a couple of hours ago (want don't have the most recent update, I think).

I had a similar issue, and now i believe i need the 46.15 firmware to get back up and running. But it doesn't seem to be something i can find online.

i try motofail2go.. that script run in and all is faild failed and then i was stuck on moto M logo... i serch on that so i try razr M utility 1.10 and it fix my startup logo probelm.. and my phone good back again and im happy with this.. and i was scard so i didnt touch anything more and i love to use my razr in 4.4.2 but when i restore my fastboot via utiluty 1.10 i guess its showing 4.4.2 in about phone.. but then the room i have is 4.4.1 i guess but anyway my phone was working last night .. i was using phone and then it goes off and then i restart then again it stuck on moto M logo.. i try to do that utility again.. but its not work this time.. and my phone is now stuck on logo M.. and my device status is locked Code 0 and phone is stuck on moto M logo.. didnt start up.. and my systm was in SRD light dedecting but now system didnt show my device and i notice when i plug in after runing utilty 1.10 it install drives something like "" Qualcomm"" and one more .. i try to uninstall driver.. but in recovery mode my system detect Xt907 and in AP mode.. it detect "Qualcomm" i dont know what to do where to start
how to fix this **** can you pls guiede me becos i try utility 1.20 also. and one more thing i try is to unlock my bootloader from moto site.. and they said you device is not unlock :/ plz help me and do replay im waiting for you kind replay plz

If it is turning on to fastboot, plug it in and follow these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2873081
If you were on a system firmware ending in .10, get that version from motofirmware.com and flash it the exact same way as the link above.
It sounds like you attempted to downgrade a locked device, you cannot do it. If you go to the .10 firmware you can root with TowelRoot and unlock with Motopocalypse.

You will download stock 4.4.2, 4.4.1 does not exist on our device. Since you are on .10 firmware follow this: http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php?/topic/45495-[FXZ]-4.4.2-183.46.10
The software used is a DroidRZR exclusive, you're going to have to make an account on that site to download it - its a great community to be a part of for any Droid owner.
The RSD Flasher can be used on any bootloader, regardless of if it is locked or unlocked. If you are locked, you must either flash the same system version you are on (.10 in this case) or a NEWER firmware (.15, not unlockable). You cannot install a lower version.

i follow all step and downloadn the stock firmwear end with .10 and with the same bassband ver with but still when i run that script and start flashing
with SRD its says
i try but still no luck.. i am geting in SRD light error is failed flashing processes. 1/15 flash sbl1 "sbl1.mbn" -> phone returned FAIL. and also get massage on phone in AP fast boot screen that failed to read signature for partition aboot ..
can you tell me what should i have to try now ?
also i notice that when i connnect my phone in SRD showing under the model section is my device name is "fastboot SMQ S"

Are you positive that you were on .10 firmware and not .15? Try using House of Moto instead of RSD Flasher. Make sure you have the latest Motorola drivers installed, you are using a cable that is Motorola branded (it matters!) And are in a USB2.0 slot and not 3.0.

i nned help. i cant figure out how to install qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 onto windows vista. I can find places to download the file but dont know how to install it. can someone please help me?
