After kit kat update battery life worst anyone - Galaxy Note II General

My battery life has gone worst after kit kat.... same use in jelly bean used to get around 5 hours of screen time... now hardly 3 hours...I am on custom Rom
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2

Well I have just upgraded to stock Kitkat - PK Version. I haven't faced any issue regarding drainage of my battery. I can safely say that battery consumption on newer version of my Note II is better than the previous one (or atleast it isn't worst than older 4.1.1). Have you tried stock 4.4.2 ?

installed a custom rom battery was pretty good

First calibrate your battery & than use opg pro battery saver app from play store or you can calibrate your battery in opg pro app's setting okay.........:good:

Im using a Stock Rom Kit Kit. I don't have problem with my Battery.

Some people complain about that. Try @wanam s suggestions and go to wi fi then advanced tab disable always search option. Otherwise wi fi stays open at low consumption mode to use a gps function

For me it took several charging cycles to reach 23 hrs of power. I use DU Battery to monitor and to safe charge the device.

I think this is agreat recomendation and I have notice the battery drains a lot lees than have it turned it ON all the time.
The Xtream ROM has the UltraPower Saving mode and you can tur it on when need it.

Maybe it's aging problem ?

No it´s not just you.
I had the same problem, but it was gone after flashing this firmware.

But my 2nd problem was that my battery was broken now, after i bought a new one, my galaxy s lasts up to 3-4 days with normal use.
Try it, it just can become better.

probably your battery is broken. If you have a friend with the same phone change batteries for 2 or 3 days to see what happens. If not try the paul.b97 suggestion

Battery broken or just one hungry program. lol
Try to install one stock Rom with Odin, analise the programs that u install.
That could be the problem...
Flash another FW or maybe it works after Calibrating your Battery.
Gesendet mit meinem SGS mit Tapatalk.
There is also 3500 mAh battery selling try to ubtain it, i have one and what should i can tell you it's great ( 4 days with huge working system)
To be honest i think it's the firmware problem...last time after i updated to stock 2.3.3 i have the same problem as you..
I have to charge the battery about 2 to 3 times a day when i don't even play games and the use of wifi was minimum (less than 30 minutes)...
Try flashing another stock firmware (my suggestion is 2.3.5 or 2.3.6), it works for me, the battery use was back to normal after that (Custom ROMs are even better )
I "upgraded" my galaxy s with an battery of the galaxy s+ , 150maH more and 4-5 hours more in standby =)

try to use anther ROM. usually it is a problem of modem.bin.
what is your verision?
wipe battery stats bro
Did you flash new firmware anytime?
I once hat the same problem after a Kies-update that was done with less than 100% battery. Wiping battstats is a solution to this.
The reason why your phone drains that much is another thing. I guess there is something active, unnecessary syncing or sth. Check what apps are permitted to run processes in the background, search for updates or news or whatever. Probably that is all you need to do.
battery live are depending by the rom , more exactly by the optimization of the firmware or rom, by how these use the procesor and ram , and of corse by how you use the phone , exemple I use now ICS RC3.1 , and with normal use (2 hour of screen on , 1 hour i speak at phone , and some web browsing) my battery discharged in 2 days and 16 hours

on stock 2.3.6 jvz , 4 hour of gaming and 30 minutes speaking on phone in 2 days , after that battery empty on hard use , on normal use more than 2 days, but i must say on ics if i play games the battery is empty more faster , in 30 minutes 25-35% of battery gone , and in that 3 days on ics i never played games , i used phone only to speak , thats why my phone was worked 2 days and 16 hours on ics

s2 in jb 4.1.2 battery life

hi. I am o supernexus build 5 wth siyah kernel. I got round 7 hiurs if heavy usage on gs2. I've done facebook, viber, internet using stock browser and downloading around 200mb zip file. what can you say about this battery life. its my first time to use gs2 and I am using 2000mah. the battery life seems pretty bad in my opinion. oh really that means I should be getting better because I am on 2000mah but it seems not. Im not sure what's the problem if its the battery or the kernel. I also used an ICS firmware from Samsung I9100TDULP4. I don't know if that affects the battery life

right now I am using the original 1650 mah stock battery of s2. I've been doing a lot of file transfers as of this moment via e.s. file explorer and currently I am transferring almost 13gb of data via wifi from my laptop. its been awake for 4 hours now with screen time of 1 hour and 30min. e.s. file explorer is keeping the system awake for 3 hours. I did some facebook and viber chats. screen at 35% brightness.. do you think this is the expected life of the stock battery? I am fairly new to samsung and I found the battery life to be disappointing even with the stock jelly bean rom from samsung. I will post some pics of the battery stats and cpu stats from cpu spy. another thing though. is there a good app from the market where I can test my two batteries and compare them? thank you

To callibrate battery..first completely drain the battery to about 5%, then charge the phone non stop without disturbing it till 100% and immediately remove the charger..again fully drain the battery and follow the above steps and u will get better battery life after a few cycles!
About roms..battery life does differ from rom to rom...i suggest u could check the custom kernels packed with zzmoove governor, ithat particular governor definitely improves the battery backup!
And in the above post es file explorer is eating ur battery..for that u should download greenify and hibernate apps continuously running in background!
great. I will follow your steps. one more thing. how can I know if the battery is still good or if its still holding the proper charge its suppose to have? thanks

best I can get is about 3 days standby in jb stock.
I use the 2000mAh battery is primary battery.. no big surprise to expect here, capacity is just 21% more by construction...
With wifi on, JB burns in my case about 3% in IDLE.. stock kernel.. and about 5% in 3G mode, IDLE.. then battery drains more or less fast depending on screen on, phone calls etc. I use the phone extensively for work (email sync & replies, phone calls, sms and voip) and i have to topup the battery twice or trice a day!
Have tried various custom kernels with all sort of magic to reduce battery drain.. more or less effectively.. sometimes with less stability.
Right now trying out latest dorimanx 8.27.. seems thatn IDLE with WIFI on drains around 2% per hour.. better than stock.. still not quite awesome
I miss the GB battery life.. but JB is so beautiful in comparison, I cannot go back!

Does Jb stock for you has better life or does custom rom have more? I really like the custom roms but as per observation stock rom offers more battery time. Right now I just reverted to stock rom i9100xwlss. Touchwiz really sucks. Supernexus is really beautiful but offers less battery (but I will have to try yet their latest build). Also one of the reasons for going back to stock is the camera shot quality. Custom roms really have poor camera quality. I guess when it comes to lowlight shots the stock roms are best. So much for that. Does stock rom offer more battry for you or custom rom does?

Below is a reply in some other forum by Samsung offcials regarding a specific method to Hard-Reboot your phone after a Firmware update: This method particularly helped me improve the battery life on SGS2 after 4.1.2 update.
"1. I’m sorry you are having issues with your device after upgrading the firmware. I can understand your frustration about this.
Old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating. If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.
We would advise on doing the following, which is designed to reset the settings on your device. Please back up your device using Samsung KIES before you do this.
1) Remove the battery for at least 40 minutes, put the battery back in and allow it to fully discharge. Afterwards, perform a full battery charge with the device turned off. Do not interrupt the charging process.
2) After the battery is fully charged, we would like you to perform a full factory reset, which can be done via Settings > Backup > Reset.
This process will reset your device, remove old system files that are no longer needed and enable your device to operate normally again.
Please let us know if your device continues to experience problems after the reset so we can investigate further.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Stewart

Actually I only use stock JB.. and trying to get it last longer with some custom kernels.. recently trying snapdragon rom, which is stock JB as well but with some S4 apk made compatible with S2... tried some time back omega, vanila rootbox and some other android builds for s2.. but was facing few stability issues / bugs and also missed some features that i was getting from stock rom.. so i gave up with these... now just aiming at stability and if possible battery endurance.. but not at the cost of stability.

regardless of kernel(since one person might get great battery life on a kernel and another terrible battery life on the same kernel), what most affects your battery is your personal setup of your device and how you personally use your device. also, your data/phone signal plays a big part in battery life.
I tried it and I swear it just drained the battery slightly faster. I was 100% stock, not rooted.

Did you ever reset the battery and slow charge it(up to 5 or even 6 hours on usb)?
Yes at first battery life sucked for me, after I change the kernel I only got 1 hour more, then I started slow charging and saw the difference, the reason I said to change top a good kernel is the deep sleep, franco drains almost nothing during it

ive got not battery issues, im very happy with battery life on my phone. i get anywhere from 5-7.5 hours screen on time(depending how i use my device that battery cycle), but i dont use franciscos kernel(although he is a friend of mine). i do use a custom kernel though. but, as any custom kernel, there will people that say they get the best battery life, and yet there will be people that complain about battery. yes, even with franco kernel. as i said, battery life will mostly depend on your setup, your use, and your data/phone signal.
I have already a good battery setup with ak kernel and Greenify... I turn Off some with tasker just want to know if someone has a good e.xperience with battery guru

On my Nexus battery life is acceptable so I don't use it, but on my HTC Rezound I have been using this for a week or so, it seems to have no real effect that is noticable... Take that for what it is worth I guess, in my opinion it really does nothing and unless I see some kind of benefit to it within another week I will be removing it.
Even i am not sure about the performance. If ur a stock rom user try resetting the phone.

Battery life on the early 4.4 builds

So lots of people were complaining that the new features would take a hit on the battery life on 4.4...
So, I decided to test it, it was phenomenal.... Google now activated all the time with Google reporting on too.
My battery last for a period of 12 hours with a sot of 5+ hours.....Google now is a very handy feature to me and this update just rocked it.....the idle battery time is good too as I was able to get 24 hours of battery with 4 hours sot.
I am thoroughly impressed.

Overall 4.3 has been reported worse battery life for a majority of HTC One users (there was a poll) and overall among all phones. Its because they did not properly execute some of the background applications. 4.4 fixes that.
my htc one dev converted to google edition has been great as well on 4.3
I also have a nexus 5 and was easily getting 5 hours SOT for the whole day of use. Same battery too. I cant wait for 4.4 GE for the one though. I hope it comes with ART as it was really good on the nexus 5. Not holding my breath tho as the nexus 4 / 7 dont have it.

You're one out of hundreds of thousands of users. I don't get why you're so adamant in refusing to believe anything that's different from what you have experienced. I could get amazing battery life from 4.3 too, if i turned off every single damn thing and used it as if it was a dumb phone. Battery life for me has been ****tier compared to 4.2.2 as well.

because i can and because i normally pulls 16-20 hours on a charge with 4.3 with everything turned off and normal use and others do the same thing
99% of the time if a user is getting crappy battery life its dude to wake locks that is normally caused by the user that installed an app that is not playing well and wanting to sleep ..
hey all im saying is the majority of the people i know have GREAT battery life with 4.3

Lol 4.3 IS wakelock city, as much as you refuse to believe so. With the exact same apps, on 4.2.2 i use to get about 2% usage overnight. Now? I'm lucky if I wake up with 85% down from 100%. So while yes I can pull 16 - 20 hours with 4.3, its a far cry from what I use to get on 4.2.2.
It really depends on what you define as "great" battery life. I'd consider 2 days + of usage and 4 hours SOT to be great. 16 - 20 hours is just ok.
I agree about 4.3 + sense 5.5 being bad for battery , altough i do get better deep sleep with 4.3 the overall screen time usage is worse !
Here examples from my experience:
4.2.2 = Average 6/7 screen time no matter what i do ( no gaming ) , 4.2.2 gaming from 100 to 10% a8 = 3:30 / 3:50 average
4.3 + sense 5 = average 6-7:20 hrs screen time + much much better deep sleep + better temperatures . average gaming 3:50 / 4:20 A8
4.3 + sense 5.5 = average 5:30 / 6hrs TOPS screen time , temperatures MUCH worse , gaming = 3:15 / 3:30 TOPS a8 , deep sleep worse then 4.3 + sense 5.
I think what reduced our battery life a bit is sense 5.5 not 4.3 as much as sense , i've tried MANY roms , MANY kernels and the stats i wrote above are from STOCK kernel + custom roms.
I deffinetely in overall 4.3 + sense 5.5 has reduced our battery for about 20% then it was.
Too bad sense 5.5 is so much better then sense 5 i just can't go back to 4.3 + sense 5 which was without doubt king of battery life. Hopefully we will gain back our lost 20% and even better perhaps GAIN some battery with 4.4.
On the other hand GPE 4.3 deffinetely is better then 4.2.2 gpe. Tho i can't give up from sense so worthless to me.
@CheesyNutz
I lose average 0/1% in deep sleep of 10hrs , but the deep sleep / wakelocks aren't issue , actuall usage consumes more then before.
If you guys need proof about my stats i could post screen shoots.
Edit , here screenshots see for yourself :
1st 7 pics are from 4.2.2 (1/7 pics )
2nd 7 pics are from 4.3 + sense 5.0 (7/14 pics)
Last 6 pics are from 4.3 + sense 5.5 ( 14/20 pics )
Imagine my frustration i've lost from 1 up to 1:30 hrs screen time, you can clearly see i've always had insane deep sleep so it's not that.
There is no sign of Android System or Google Services. I'm happy.
Any further infos guys?
Like what firmware/baseband you using?
Because i really think about to flash 4.4 as my daily driver (currently stucking with 4.3 GPE rom).

What type of battery life are you guys getting?

my htc one dev converted to google edition has been great as well on 4.3
I also have a nexus 5 and was easily getting 5 hours SOT for the whole day of use. Same battery too. I cant wait for 4.4 GE for the one though. I hope it comes with ART as it was really good on the nexus 5. Not holding my breath tho as the nexus 4 / 7 dont have it.

I don't understand. I'm on ART on the Nexus 4.

[Q] 4.4.2 Bluetooth drains battery. Can't turn it off.

I can't seem to turn off the bluetooth and stopping from draining the battery. Help!
It seems that a bug in all G2 4.4.2 version. You have to live with it. However I dont see it affects much in battery consumption.

I've seen BT go nuts and actually drain my battery (25% battery drain per hour), but rebooting fixed it. Beginning to think that maybe JB is more stable right now.
I also get several random reboots everyday if I try to do to much at once.
Lol so LG has let out an update that basically ruins using earphones due to a hissing sound and this bluetooth bug which actually could also be a security concern. Nice work on their part... At least they mad the status bar icons white

It's a known bug on G2 4.4.2. They are supposedly working on a patch. I can attest that 4.2.2 is more stable. Being that one of the best things about our device is the awesome battery life, the fact that kitkat drains the battery is inexcusable. If the ROM wasn't done baking they shouldn't have released it. Some say it's false reporting. In my case it isn't. I went back to 4.2.2 and have zero issues.

Same here I have d801 and it says 6% is being used but its off
my phone is draining the same way
Even though I see Bluetooth listed, battery drain is actually better from 4.2.2, without doing a clean install of KK.
Factory reset fixed this for me.
I noticed this today, I never use bluetooth but have 5% battery drain. I can't say that battery life has got worse in KitKat, I still get the best part of 2 days use out of it. I'll try a factory reset, if that doesn't solve it I'll patiently wait for a fix.
The battery is the same if anything slightly better for me on kk

And i don't really hear a hissing noise in my headphones. So I'm having no bugs in kk. I love it, just can't wait for root

just a thought, to all those with draining, did you have apps disabled\services disabled whilst updating?
just guessing.

Correct - the 4-6% Bluetooth "usage" (it isn't draining the battery!) is a service called BlueSleep. It is merely being (poorly) reported in a manner that worries the masses. Expect an AOSP reporting fix sometime.
Lots of misguided hysteria around this...
(The 25% "drain" issue is poor wipe/flash regime.)
Hey guys, I also had a problem with huge battery drain with bluetooth. When I connected my phone per Bluetooth with speakers while charging, the battery needed for 50 % charging 9 hours.
I solved this issue by doing a factory reset in twrp.
