[Q] Google+ auto backup & Whatsapp - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to find a solution to an annoying problem.
For some reason all images sent to me via whatsapp are being automatically backed to Google+.
I have unchecked the setting to auto backup local folders in the Google+ app, so I would assume that only my Camera photos should be backed up.
How can I ensure that only my camera photos are auto backed up to Google+????
Thanks in advance.

Google+ considers all sent photos as similar to ones sent by the camera. I think the only way around this is to delete the photos on Google+ itself.

Thanks for the reply!
That makes sense, I just assumed that having the local whatsapp folder unchecked in settings would stop these photos from being uploaded.
Cheers!

[How to] set gallery to show photo only from phone

Just got this phone. Would like to seek advice from experienced members here.
How do I set the gallery to show only photos from phone by default? By default the setting is all, which includes picassa and Dropbox, which makes opening gallery rather slow as it loads photos from there. Every time I have to set it to view photo from phone only.
Can it be done? Using stock stock rom but rooted.

the main reason i want to do this is because it takes a minute or so to load my photos due to the fact it is searching for photos on my picassa account.
however, i found a way to disable that.
settings->google (under "accounts")->[your email, under "accounts"]->untick "sync picasa web albums"
done! i also unticked sync chrome, currents, google+, instant upload, internet... i left contacts, gmail and calander as i use them.
thanks everyone for trying to help me. i really appreciate that

Couple little things that are irritating I've found

1. When the quick setting profile is clicked it'll say " the contact doesn't exist"
2.If you got picasa photos in you gallery you'll have to un sync/delete photos in your Google account somehow

My quick setting profile works fine. I think you just need to log into the google+ app if it isn't working now.

How do I get rid of unwanted photos??

Seems as if my Hangouts pictures that I send to friends are appearing in my gallery... How do I take em off? It won't let me delete them and there's a bunch of different folders but I don't know how to get rid of em. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sure. Uncheck photo upload in the google account sync section. Then clear the data from the gallery app.
When you reopen the gallery app, your pictures should be gone.

I already had the photo upload unchecked which is what was confusing me... didn't know all I had to do was clear data from the gallery app. Thanks man, it worked flawlessly!!

[Q] Contact photos missing?

Today while I was on a foreign wifi access point, my contact photos all decided that they were too cool for me. Google contacts still shows all the contact photos, but the phone either has blank ones, or defaults to google+/skype profile photos. I can't sync contacts to make them reappear on the phone either. Anyone know what this might be?
Bump. Mine did this yesterday and I have no idea why. I'm running stock rooted 4.2.3 or whatever. I noticed that "People Details" is stuck trying to sync and hasn't sync'd since 6/25/2013.

Hey man. Just wipe you contacts and contacts storage data in settings -> apps. It worked for me.
EDIT:
For all future readers, you'd only need to delete the data for contacts storage.

No problem man, I'm glad I could help.
I found out something very curious. When I have skype installed on my phone, and it's set to sync contacts, it makes all the contact photos blank, and defaults to either google plus' photos, or skype's photos. Anyone else have this problem?
My contacts pictures disappeared the moment i updated to latest android.. But then i put then again.

I really need your help... lost

Hey guys,
So I've been using my Nexus 6P for about a week now and I had to do a reset because I was having some issues with mms and for some reason my new apn wouldn't take no matter what I did. So after that reset, my mms works fine but now I have another issue I just can't figure out. So here it is...
When I go to messenger to send a mms, like a photo lets say. I attempt to attached a photo from my media (Google Photos) but it doesn't see any of the photos I have in google photos, it only shows me a photo I took about 5 minutes ago when I was doing a test. I'm sure that before this reset I was able to attach any photo I had in Google Photos to a message in messenger, not I can't. What's going on? Ive checked permissions and all is good, all approved. Kinda silly that I can't go to messenger, check the box next to photos within the app, choose photos , and not see anything .
When I go to Google Photos they are all there, but when I check it through messenger, nada... Please help.

If I had to guess... Before you reset, all of the pictures in Google Photos were still on your device. Now that you have reset, you're only seeing pictures that are on your device when you try to send an mms, but you see the old pictures that were backed up before you reset when you go to the Photos app. Does that make sense?

Thats the thing. I'm not seeing any old photos that have been in Google Photos for months, I'm only seeing new photos that Ive taken after the reset
Yea it makes sense, but I had access to all the photos in Google Photos before, now I only have access to photos that you would say are in my camera roll (iPhone term, photos taken with this device). Once again this is only for attachment. If I go to Google Photos , I see everything. Just not from messenger.
If I start in Google Photos , I can send a photo via Messenger. But If I start in messenger, then go to attach a photo, it only shows photos that I've taken with the Nexus (Post Reset), no option to see all my photos from Google Photos.
Try resetting the data in messenger just back up your texts before you do

Make sure you are actually going to google photos. When you click the paperclip in messenger to add, you are in the 'recents' area.
You'll need to click the pic icon panel (should be first one listed), that will take you to the 'recents' picture picker. On that screen click the hamburger menu in the top left, then in the pane that appears, select google photos.
If the above doesnt work, open settings > apps > messenger > permissions and be sure it has access to the appropriate areas.
Yup, I'm clicking photos. And I've checked my permissions
Can someone give me the download link to download xposed installer for lollipop
I'm tapping photos in the menu too... But photos are only showing recents not all photos
Tried clearing app data too , reset permissions. Still no go
Even uninstalled photos and reinstalled
Same issue
