Firmware 17.1.1.A.0.402 is out for Wifi tablet in Germany - Xperia Z2 Tablet General

Today I was notified that version 17.1.1.A.0.402 is available for update (through PC companion and Sony update app).
I am currently updating and hope for major improvements (eg. touchscreen response).
I am coming from 36 and this is the first update offered to me.
Has anyone found a changelog or similar?

I also just received it for LTE in the UK. Its updated and I think the touch response could actually be better. For example I usually need a few tries to get the unlock pattern to work but now it works first time. Still I need more time to test before I can say its fixed.

I cant see anything else new yet. A change log would certainly be nice. Great that Sony are active with updates though! This is the happiest Ive been with any Android device.

Can confirm LTE update here in Switzerland also poped up on my device, will wait till i read up on stuff like if root is still possible, if i can downgrade if not etc.:good:

i get it to in germany for the gp512

Germany, LTE model, findings so far:
- Far better touch response, waking up the Z2 via double-tap (using fingers, not firearms) now clearly better working
- Larger "hit zone" of Android symbols
- Less touchscreen problems in general, but needs some long-term experience
BUT ("but" seems to be an integral part of Sony devices nowadays):
- Waking up via double-tap does not always work, sometimes the Z2 reacts on tapping at special zones (center and above), only
- Hit zones of Android symbols sometimes shrink again to the former state; restart cures that for a while
- Short audio interruption when changing screen orientation a bit better, but still present
- SD card still read-only (I know, it's caused by Google - but not solving that problem is caused by Sony)
- Z2 still bent
Strange: I've got Z2 tablets. One of them had extreme touchscreen issues, the other one showed almost no issues at all.
Now I've got the feeling that the "worse" Z2 (bare naked) works better than the previously "good" Z2 (enclosed by a protective case). But I am not real sure, yet.

can someone upload the ftf file please
i had root the last firmware and now i can`t install it because the verification
thx

I also just got the update ad download it now... I'm coming from Austria

In the Netherlands the update arrived also today.
I don't see any big differance in this short period of time.

Someone post the build.prop please.

Sony Media apps finally got updated! *WiFi US model*

I'm wondering if it's possible to downgrade again in case a root exploit is found that is only available in the original firmware. Any thoughts on that?

Anyone have the FTF.

I have not noticed any changes yet. The response of the touchscreen has definitely not improved on my tablet. I was so much hoping on this... Why is there no change log anywhere? I sooooo much would like to know the improvements of this firmware... Any ideas anyone?

1. Uploading FTF now...
2. On my device, the touchscreen problems are now gone.

Any news mate

The most recent firmware for the LTE version (.55) has this as a changelog, so I assume we can expect these fixes in the latest release amongst others.
Improved camera performance & function with faster start time and better auto focus
Improved FM radio function
Graphics improvements with smoother scrolling and image movement
Improved stability with the latest bug fixes and enhancements
---------- Post added at 11:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 PM ----------
First things I've noticed is vibration now works with the keyboard. Google Keep is now installed as a system app, presumably to make up for no 'notes' and touch responsiveness is an improvement. The keyboard font size is also larger.
All on the WiFi model.

Touch screen issue is still there but not as worst as before.
Just down load multi touch tester, you can notice the problem is still there

Good news and bad news...
Good news first: .402 made the touchscreen response of a previously bad behaving device far better !
Bad news: .402 made the touchscreen response of a previously well behaving device far worse !
First, I had a Z2 with a BAD touchscreen and BAD creaking issues, and a Z2 with a GOOD touchscreen and NO creaking issues.
Now, I've got a Z2 with a GOOD touchscreen and BAD creaking issues, and a Z2 with a BAD touchscreen and NO creaking issues.
Both devices still have severe issues with multitouch - it's just same as with the Nexus 7 2013.
So again, Sony failed big time. :/
I start wondering if they ever manage to do just ANYTHING right.

I used the device heavily last night and the touch is without doubt better. It used to be barely usable when laying on its back or in the cradle, now its ok.
But I am having a little problems with bluetooth. My keyboard drops out and sometimes the mouse pointer stutters. It used to be perfect so that's a bit annoying.

Something I noticed: the display brightness when set to auto, now takes the brightness slider position into effect, so you can choose how much the screen will dim or brighten relative to environment light. Before, the brightness slider had no effect in auto brightness mode.

TPT ICS Feedback

OK for all the lucky people who have suceeded in updating their tpts to ICS, would you mind sharing feedback. I'm currently on the CM9 port which is stable enough for my use and I don't want to upgrade to ICS and lose CWM unless it's worth it:
1. Do both front and back cameras work?
2. Does Sound work properly?
3. Is there still the "pen wonk" problem where the pen develops a mind of its own and just stops working?
4. Is the tpt any faster than before (i.e boot times, application launch, etc)
5. Any noticeable lag during usage?
6. On honeycomb, the tpt is unresponsive to touch immediately its woken up from sleep for like a second. Is that problem still on ICS?
Feel free to share any other issues encountered. Thanks
Hey,
1. Both Cams are working
2. Sound is still a bit quiet, but it works
3. after the update i hadn't any problems with the pen
4. In my opinion it is much faster then before and there hasn't been any crash since the update
5. I don't see a lag
6. This problem is still there, but not as much as before.
Thanks @folkommen, I'm sure this info will be much useful for me and others
Can anyone else confirm that the pen doesn't suddenly stop working during usage? Please make sure you're using the pen for a decent amount of time as this issue seems to occur randomly but usually 10-20 minutes of writing.
Did the ICS update fix the GPS (or make it better)?
Focus?

Some have reported it fixed but Lenovo is actively working on the issue now and has an idea onmthe hardware side what may be wrong.
AT 05/25/2012 is the WE Version released, with the same problem as UK: some G3 Providers are missing the connection for internet, Bad supply recharging, busybox problems disabled upgrade.
My Upgrade was succsessfully. No problems, not before and not after the update. G3 works fine. GPS fixed within 10 s 6 Satellits.

[SM-G730A] ATT Galaxy SIII Mini (KitKat/Touchscreen Issue)

I am not sure how many owners of the SM-G730A are mobile gamers at all, but maybe some of you have noticed this...
Since the update to Android KitKat 4.4.2 the touchscreen behaves erratically in certain games, primarily FPS shooters. I know it is not an issue with my particular device, goto Google Play and look up Dead Trigger 2. View the reviews for this device model only, you will see numerous complaints beginning after the date the OTA was released (8/27/14) complaining about the touchscreen controls.
I have downloaded the kernel source code from Samsung for both 4.2.2 and 4.4.2. Upon examining the kernel source, the Atmel touchscreen driver has been updated in 4.4.2. I believe this to be what is causing the problem. I am not sure if it is configured incorrectly or if it is just a poor driver. The Jelly Bean driver gave NO issues what so ever. I would revert back to 4.2.2 Jelly Bean if I could. I also compiled a kernel for KitKat which includes the Jelly Bean Atmel driver, however due to the locked bootloader, it does me no good.
What happens is this, you will have two fingers on the screen. Suddenly it is as though you lifted one, even if you are still touching the screen. Touches are erratic for a few seconds after this happens, then touch returns to normal temporarily until it happens again (usually only a few seconds later). This makes using the device for gaming extremely annoying, and difficult. This issue does not occur in normal use, only gaming, where there is rapidly changing multitouch inputs.
If any of you have noticed this, maybe you can contact Samsung/ATT complaining of the issue, if we're lucky maybe a patch will be released. Or it will be fixed in a future firmware update. I already wrote to both, ATT says they will forward the complaint to their management, Samsung has yet to reply.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/contact / [email protected]
Also, this is a video I created demonstrating the problem. The video includes annotations describing the issue that can only be viewed from PC YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3FMEPB51Y-4
Thanks for reading.
Has anybody with this device tried a multi-touch test? I'm starting to wonder if it's related to my screen protector. The issue only started after the KitKat update though, immediately after. I do a good amount of mobile gaming or I'd never have noticed it still to this day. Never presents itself outside of fps games.
Best way to check (within multi-touch test app):
Touch screen with two fingers.
Keep one stationary and rapidly slide the other around for a few seconds then stop and lift that finger only.
The stationary touch will act as though you lifted even though you didn't.
Sometimes touches will be erratic for a while if the test is repeated several times.
If anyone tries this please let me know if you have a screen protector or not and how it behaved. Thanks.
Nobody with this device on KitKat is willing to do a multitouch test for me?
All you have to do is turn the phone sideways so the app is in landscape mode, touch with two fingers, one on each side of the screen.
Keep one still, move the other rapidly for a little while then stop, but keep touching the screen.
Does the app show that you lifted the other finger even though you didn't?
I'd appreciate it, trying to narrow it down to a kernel driver issue, or screen protector issue.

Thanks for verifying. It's not the screen itself from what I can tell. I tried this on Jelly Bean with no issues. I did go through the kernel source for KitKat and believe it is the KitKat kernel touch driver. I am hoping for ATT/Samsung to release a kernel patch. The multitouch was perfect in JB.

Dead sensors? [not any more!]

All of a sudden yesterday, my trusty old Nexus 10 stopped auto-rotating. Apps that have a fixed orientation will work and rotate the screen, but then the screen stays in that orientation until an app with a different fixed orientation is launched. I downloaded a couple sensor checking apps, and it seems the gyroscope/compass/acceleremeter are just dead. It doesn't register anything at all on the apps. I'm guessing it's just the result of age (no "trauma" to the device such as a drop or anything). Any similar experiences, or thoughts on repairing? I doubt I'll replace the tablet anytime soon, it's really just a media consumption device at this point, though a couple of the games I played used the gryo/accel. My initial thought is it's just time to let it go, use it for what I can, then provide a proper burial when it totally dies.

probably your sensor is dead(could you try to install some app that display all sensors informations? you should find that easily on the play store).
could you also tell us what is your ROM ?

Hm indeed your issue should not happen( I think) with lollipop.
MM had some issues with sensors but since you are on lollipop ...
Hehe, well then you should flash a rom with a QS tile to rotate hehe.
LOL, probably not going to mess with flashing a new ROM. Like I said, I only use it for media consumption and some light gaming...nothing that "needs" the gyro, so I'll just live with it until it totally dies
Huh, son a gun. Just flashed the Feb Nexus update via fastboot, and low and behold, it lives again! Looks like it was software related after all.

Elephone S7 touch problem - Pixel skipping

Hello together,
my Elephone S7 arrived yesterday and iam very happy with it except the touch behavior. As many Elephones before my S7 has also the pixel-skipping problem. The touchscreen is very inaccurate and when you scroll slowly there will be continuously micro stuttering and pixel-skipping.
My Phoneversion: Black / 4Gb / 64Gb - Firmware: Elephone_S7_97_20161123
The Elephone P6000 had the same kind of touch behavoir problem. It could be solved with a software-fix. (TP-Fix)
Link to the guy who fixed it: http://bbs.elephone.hk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2377#.WD6BWYVFyUn
May somebody is able to locate the problem on S7 and write a similar fix. I hope there is no hardware limitation.
so far.
I have the same S7 model & firmware, but have not noticed the issue you mention.
Seems fairly usable and could not see noticable stuttering..
I have removed the screen protector though, maybe its a factor ?
If you have a look at the following post I think this issue has/is being addressed in a future firmware update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69783518&postcount=30
I dont say that the device is unusable but the stuttering on slow and short scrolling is still there. Especially when you adjust an slider or anything Else.
As reported in the opening post Iam on the lastet firmware 20161123.

No problem i will contact elephone directly with detailed failure description.
I reply a report when i get some infos from the vendor.

My model also black 64gb 4gb .
Other than that it is crazy value for money ..
Today my S7 updated to new version:
S7_97_20161203
Some changes are good but no touch behavior optimization...
Actual no feedback from Elephone-Support. Send a mail with problem description a few days ago.
Thanks for the update
What kind of improvements had you noticed with the new update?
Version number: Elephone_S7_97_20161203
Version size: 960.61 MB
Release date: 2016-12-5
1. Enhanced the camera effect
2. Improved Fingerprint algorithm
3. Enhanced the system performance, improved the fluency of the system
4. Solved the restart problem occuring when CPU is under load.
5.Add real-time internet speed on status bar
Me also updated today
Thanks for the info Lars
Good to see Elephone are constantly working on improving things, hope this continues until things are perfect.
I recall reading that Elephone will keep providing firmware updates for 1 year after the devices release date, let's hope they keep this promise. Also looking forward to Android 7.X although probably won't be for a while yet.

Hi
Yeah they have a super service Elephone ,just press icon on homescreen and write a suggestion or quistion or use link to official forum that contains official rom's and users own custom rom .. Pretty cool ..
By the way ,runs like a charm with latest update.
Very fast and so good it's camera..
Bricked it yesterday when rooting it this 6.0 is tricky but im pretty stubborn ...
Well now i has a new kernel update .. Looking forward to next update so i can have my smooth running phone back ..
Hey guys. I received my s7 yesterday. Out of the box I immediately did an update to 1212 Firmware via OTA. For me the pixel skipping bug is still here and for me this is pretty annoying!
Checking with MTK Engineering mode you can see that your finger movement is only recognised every 15-25 pixels.-no matter if you move in x direction or in y direction.
Do you think this can be really fixed by a Software Update? If this is hardware related I will immediately send back this thing!
It's not the only bug. Touch seems laggy in general. There seem to be a lot more. e.g. GPS, SIM 1 deactivation while connecting to car stereo via Bluetooth and so on.
I"m pretty disappointed by the s7 right now....
elephone s7 touch problem

Yes same problem !
It's a shame. I did have the same problem on my Nook color tablet, a touch driver firmware fixed the thing.

I hope Elephon is on the verge to fix this.
Hi everyone !
I did receive a new update firmware, a small one (83 MB) from the 01/09 and it fixed the laggy screentouch problem ! It's now perfectly smooth, at pixel scale ! Great news !!
Hi MO5.COM, thanks for the good news. I cant wait to update to newest version. Still waiting for it because the buildtin OTA update agent actual offers me no update.
Gesendet von meinem S7 mit Tapatalk
If someone knows where it downloads the new firmware (i tried to find it, no success) i can download it here !
Something strange, i needed to format the smartphone as new with the 20161219 firmware and not log into Google to apply this new small one. A bit strange.

[Discussion] What are your problems with the 5T?

I have had this phone for more than 4 months now, and I have 2 problems with it (both software), which OnePlus failed to fix over several updates, even though they are aware of these problems.
My first problem is the panorama mode. This phone makes just the worst panoramas. My hands are a little shaky, and the pictures that come out are completely unacceptable (even though it doesn't have ois) for a "flagship killer". I had a Nexus 5X before, which made almost always perfect panoramas with a much worse camera. I feel like the devs put the panorama mode in the camera just so that it has the feature, but didn't spend any time on the algorithm.
My second problem, which is the bigger one is about bluetooth. First of all, the phone had/has a weird bug where if you turn on the bluetooth then go to the bluetooth menu to choose which device you want to connect to (either by long pressing the bt icon in the notification bar or from the settings app), the ui would freeze and you have to wait a half-a-minute or so, for the ui manager to restart (in older versions of oos, the phone itself restarted). Now in 5.1.1 it doesn't do this as often as it used to, but it still happens. The second issue with bluetooth is connectivity. Sometimes when I have my headset turned on and I turn on bluetooth on the phone it connects right away (like it should) and I am happy.
Other times (most of the time actually) I have to manually select which device I want to connect to (bringing us back to freezing), and even then it still takes a couple tries for the phone to succesfully connect.
So these are my 2 issues with this phone, I hope they will get fixed soon. I feel like the dev team is always working on the next phone after release, and they don't spend anywhere near enough man-hours on released device support.
Other than these, I'm loving this device, it's fast, has great battery life and does everything well.
Do you have these bugs, do they bother you or do you have any other problems with the phone you would like to share?

Yes, I have, I clean installed 5.1.0. I read about both problems on the OnePlus forums, so I guess it's not just me. But I can try when I have some time to reinstall the phone. Btw, I am running oos 5.1.1 rooted, nothing else, so I don't think that is the problem.

Things I am not comfortable with are
1). Notification dropdown works even on lock-screen.
2). you can power off the device from Lock-screen.
Both are security concerns as someone can turn wi-fi and data off or power down the device if found or stolen.
