My Glass Stuck in "GLASS"...and then ,i found some interesting things. - Glass General

My Glass Stuck in "GLASS"...and then ,i found some interesting things.
I tried the Hard Reset at the first, but it was useless.
then I tried to flash rom at the fastboot mode. I found something interesting as follows:
when i flashed the rom XE16 to XE17.1, it still stuck in "GLASS"...
i tried the XE11 rom, and it has some different. it passed the "GLASS", but the screen was not work...
wait about 4-5 minutes, i heard the "click" sound, i guessed it's the first screen(teach you how to use the glass), then i tried to complete the teaching and entry the "bluetooth pair" mode, it successfully finished pairing with my phone.
the rest was easy, join a wifi, close the bluetooth on the phone, waiting the glass autoupdate.
about 10 minutes, the glass fully recovered, all modules are working well.
thank god!
to sum, maybe my glass is a special case, but it means some glass can not repair for directly flashing the lastest rom, then it could try to flash the old rom and autoupdate it.
PS:my English is not good, so maybe i could not correctly using some word..
new issue:when i flashed the XE12, my glass was working well. but if i flashed the XE16-XE17.1, it will stuck in a white screen before the logo "GLASS" or "System updating", even it auto updated to XE12.1, it often displayed "system has no response".
does somebody have the same issue? or somebody can help me.

You can't update glass to XE16 or XE17 with only flashing the rom. These updates also give a kernel upgrade. If you let Glass install XE16 or XE17 itself, it will also update the kernel. When the kernel is updated, it isn't possible to go back to firmwares before XE16.
I suggest to contact Google, since they will probably assist you further with your issue.

This is very unfortunate for you, I actually had two defective glasses (company gave us gifts) one with a crack inside the lens and one is having battery issue (only last 15 minutes).
I dealt with them for almost a month and had to contact the one who bought it to get all the shipping and contact info in order to get the glasses replaced...
My eyes hurt when I use it, so mine is sitting in my drawer for almost two months now...

i think google will replace them whit no problem

Urgent help required (touch screen problem)

i have a mda vario 2 ( hermes) i've been installed a rom called hermes_wwe_3.62 Malina2d now phone boots up fine but the touch screen dose not work at all ! can anyone help ? .
To get pass the alignment screen i had to create a file on storage card " welcome.not" and that got me pass alignment screen.
now i am a newbie so please all the help would be appreciated i did have a look for file called touch.dll to replace it but could find one. ( as i read somewhere that might be the problem.
my ipl -1.04 & spl-2.10.01ipro
i really don't know what to do i have tried to re flash the rom no luck there.
all the hardware buttons work fine.
Not sure about that one. Why not post the question in the thread from where you got the rom? That name doesn't ring a bell.
If not try flashing the stock shipped rom, or the at&t stripped to see if the issue goes away. If it does go away, then don't use that rom.
cant really remember where i got the rom from as i the phone is my little sisters. do you have a link for the rom you suggested
My sig has the stripped rom, and the shipped at&t roms. You can also find some programs and my roms there too.
And to be safe make sure that hardspl is installed.
If that doesn't fix it, there might be a hardware issue.
cheers for your help. i am going to download one of your roms and pray that might resolve the issue . what the latest hardspl ? i thought 2.10 was the latest ? how do i tell what is the on i have installed on the phone ? Hardspl and spl are they the same thing ?
If you flash one of mine, flash the at&t rom first, that will straighten out any issues with the memory.
if you have 2.10olipro, your all set! spl (or hardspl) is the bootloader.
no luck still having issue with the touch screen wont wont work.
the touch screen used to work fine before. all this it just became very laggy so i decided to upgrade the rom , i went to thru a few roms.
any other idea ?
i must say i do love your rom everything is set out all nice and neatly shame the touch isn't working.
Thanks for the compliment on the rom!
Sounds like it has some kind of hardware issue. If your inclined to take it apart carefully (I haven't taken mine apart yet), you might be able to check all of the connections, and for dirt or anything that might be the issue.
I believe there are disassemble instructions on the wiki.
Maybe someone with more experience in taking the phone apart can chime in.
touchscreen issue
i m having the stupid touchscreen issue i have tried everything ( including disassembly and removing gasket but it still does not calibrate
starting to hate that phone
Sounds like Digitizer could be dead.... Need to replace the LCD and Digitizer if thats the case.
The trouble with this is there are a few different things that could be causing this and just replacing the LCD might not fix it.
Sounds like it could be though. If you are having trouble, DON'T do a hard reset until you have installed an app called "remote screen alignment", freeware off the net. It copies the alignment info to the PC so you can do a quick alignment using the PC instead of the buggered screen. Otherwise you'll be going in circles for ever without being able to get into the today screen.
Cheers...
actually i have hard reset the device
the trick is to put a file called welcome.not on memory card to skip first time alignment
i'll change screen and see if it fixes itself later
i ll use the phone as it is till then
new lcd
i changed the lcd it worked flawlessly for 3 weeks then bang! the bottom half of the lcd stop to work
i think that the ribbon on the lcd got damaged when i installed it on the hermes the fact that it needs to be turned 360 degrees during assembly cause the problem any thoughts from you guys????

[Q] Help with screen turning ON

My Desire HD with both, froyo and gingerbread has the same problem, all with oficial roms: When I turn the screen off the phone just turns on back again. I sent to the SAT about 4 times now and the only thing they do is "Software update", is it a hardware problem? Can I change it for a new one? How can I do so? Im so desperate about all this problems because I am not able to use it because battery runs out in half a day. Please! SOS! Thank you every1.

This happens, without failure, every single time you turn off the screen? If that's the case, i can't see how the technicians at the service center haven't been able to reproduce the problem after a full wipe/update..
I'd say this has to be a hardware fault unless the service people haven't done anything at all. If this keeps happening regardless of factory resets/software updates, I can't see how this is a soft problem.
I'd ask you to try a few different roms and such, but I assume you are unrooted and uninterested in all that? If so, there's not really much you'll be able to fix for yourself. I would try to send this in as a hardware issue and try to get it repaired/replaced, makeing sure to explain that this "software update" **** they're doing isn't working.
Tried everything
I write here cos ive tried everything. Tried all roms and now back on vodafone oficial rom. Problems on all. I sent it with faulty hardware on the repair sheet and wrote:
GPS module.
Light sensor module.
Screen ok?
Radio OK?
And many more things, they just "Software updated"

That sucks. I've worked at shops that sell mobiles, and I've seen this many times: The technicians get an error report and end up just doing a "software update" (eg nothing) and ship it back.
I think the problem for the main part is that they recieve so many inane error reports (poor battery or something stupid like that) from customers who have no business handling any piece of electronics that they just have to go the easy way and not really do anything.
In this case I'd say it's a gross oversight on their part if this problem happens every time you turn off the screen. If there's any way for you to underline the fact that you are fairly competent with these things and feel that it is a hardware fault, and that their goddamn "software updates" don't work, you should do that.
sry I don`t have a solution about your problem but the thread title describes also my problem.
how can I turn the screen ON from the other buttons also? (not only from power)

Help with Unresponsive/Somtimes Crazy Touchscreen - Might need to unroot....

Hi everyone! Unfortunately, my run with my T-Mobile G2 appears to be nearing it's end.. I've had this phone since November of last year, so fortunately for me, I'm still within the 1-yr warranty. I couldn't find a legit answer on the forum so far so hopefully someone will have the information I need to know now.
Lately, my phone has been getting crazy. Sometimes it would start pressing random things by itself. Apps would start by itself, things would type by itself, etc, etc. Then, at times certain areas of my screen wouldn't work at all, most noticeably the "y," "b," and "h" on my keyboards. And this doesn't matter whether I'm using the stock Gingerbread keyboard or Swype.
To answer any questions, yes I am rooted and I have been running CM 7.0.2. I tried to flash 7.0.3 to see if that would correct my issue but it didn't. I also tried to reset the phone via Privacy within the Android UI and via Recovery, both with no avail.
My question to y'all is how can I fix this if at all? If this problem is not fixable, can someone provide me with the MOST SIMPLE guide as to how to unroot and restore my original T-Mobile stock ROM if necessary for me to send it to claim warranty.. Finally, if I resorted to claiming warranty, does anyone know if T-Mobile will be sending me a refurb G2 or a new one or a completely different one?? Thanks ... This is EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE.
it happens to me plenty. keep the scroll pad on the side from changing angles in direct light or it goes nuts. if theres any water on the screen at all touch commands work funny. its errors in the optical touchpad and cpacitive screen technology, not the;phone itself.
edit: im stock if youre wondering
It happens even in the dark though. I think its problem with the screen.
Any word on this? the same thing is happening to my phone.
Hui,
I was also having this problem for some time and was reallythinking of replacing the phone until I finally got rid of this last week. To start with I think this is a software issue but I'm still not sure what sw is causing this. n order to fix it I had to install the rom again from scratch and did not restore anything from google. Because independent from whatever ROM I installed the issue appeared soon after I set up the phone. So if you wnt to give it try, do a clean ROM install or factory reset to your phone and then while setting up your device uncheck the option to backup and restore settings to your google account. I know that setting up everything manually does not sound great but it's better than the crazy touch screen.
Digitizer issues
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Digitizer issues, T-Mobile just replaced my original release date G2 because of it.
They will send you a refurbished model and you have to send yours back in within 7 days or they bill you $400 I believe.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I had serious digitizer issues last month and thought for sure that my G2 was finished. Come to find out I had gotten some oil on my phone, probably from answering a text or phone call while eating at work. I took it out of its case and completely cleaned it with a cloth dampened with peroxide...not soaked just damp, and now my phone is back to normal. Give that a try and rule that out first before you replace the digitizer or phone. Make sure you clean the inside and outside of the case/skin if you have one too.
I finally figured mine out. I guess the digitizer is really really sensitive to moisture. I usually take my phone into the bathroom with me when I shower in the morning, once I stopped doing that and gave the phone some time to dry out (in a dessicant container, but rice would work just as well) my screen is back to normal. I guess the steam from the shower was enough to bring up some bugs.

Lines across screen/ Hardware problem

My Asus TF300T has been starting to act up lately. When I access the settings menu faint grey lines start to appear which run across the screen. When I change to portrait the lines disappear for a split-second and then reappear black. When accessing Google Play I see the same thing. The power menu and other menus appear to have a pixelated background and are 'blocky'. It also happens in the ASUS File Manager on the white background (faint lines).
I am confused as to what's causing them. It appears to me to be a graphics-related issue as I have taken screenshots and viewed them on my computer and they appear pixelated on the TF300T but not on my computer. I have cold booted and performed a full factory reset. I have also switched to Safe Mode with no change (lines still appearing). I am using the Jelly Bean 4.2 launcher and am stock. The tablet hasn't been dropped and has been protected. It's only 4 months old and I bought it from Argos in the UK.
It's a shame because I like this tablet
Thanks.

If it were mine I would use App Backup. Be sure to check apps and data and when presented check copy to external sdcard.
Download stock firmware 4.2(10.6.1.8), unzip once and place on internal sdcard. If you don't receive the update notice in three minutes reboot tablet and wait another three. When you get the update notice accept and wait for completion as usual.
Good Luck!
Note: This should help decide whether it is hardware or software.

You can rename it US_epad-user-10.4.4.20 or what ever that previous version of firmware was pretty sure it was that. When update comes up it will say if want to downgrade and accept but it will just reinstall you're current version. Now not sure if your unlocked as when i did this for a random reboot issue i was unlocked but worked for me and acts just like an update everything else should be the same but do backups just to be safe.
Correction thats US_epad-epad-user-10.4.2.20 and us as doesnt have to be that if WW then use that or etc. Hope that works
And as for unlocking may not want to do that as it will void warranty if need to send it in but sure everyone know that.

Exactly what are you trying to do. All you have to do is raname the latest update zip after download and unzipping once from the 10.6.1.8.zip or cant remember exactly but what ever it is to WW_epad-user-10.4.2.20.zip
That the way most use and seems to work. No need to replace the blob file or etc just renaming the latest update zip to that should work and after maybe sometime either rebooting or waiting couple mins for it to show up in notfication bar. Replaceing the file inside the update zip its self may affect the signature or etc and may not work even if option does come up. Another way after placing on root of sdcard or internal storage which is what i do is just remove and replace the sdcard should pop up right away.
Yea just placing the blob file into a zip folder and naming it that wouldnt work as it checks for signatures atleast unless unlocked but not totally sure on that. Try what i had stated if your trying to downgrade take the 4.1.1 update file and name it WW_epad-user-10.4.2.20.zip or just rename the latest update zip to that works every time for me.
Tell you the truth it does sound more like a hardware problem just reflashing the update is a way to be sure. I'd more in the way of thinking of sending it in for service in your case atleast if you still have warranty i would. I've been through 2 seperat device still get random reboot with this new update tried reflashing couple times etc fixes temporarly but seems to come back almost considering sending to asus my self at this point since have warranty. Usually the best bet.

Ok if flashing doesnt work then yes i'd just do a replacement what i did with my original that had problems and only has 30 days but got lucky. Good luck it's worth a try there are some other threads on here on how to do it if can't figure it out but i've used i method i stated couple times and it work for flashing atleast but fix my problem temporarily. If anything else don't be affraid to ask just don't unlock or would most def mess up your chancefor rma atleast if not exchange too.

Good luck also hope it works like said method should just not sure if would fix the problem could be something with your nvidia chip that process' your video sort of what it sounds like to me or something atleast is affecting your video. Like said i posted a link for you with people experiencing these types of problems just give it a read through most replace there lcds and mainboard or digitizers depending on what it is because they have no warranty but they probably would know what the problem is if you asked. As you said you can exchange it i'd just go for that my self.

Well like said atleast you know now sucks i didn't fix it but didn't sound like it would. Was worth a try. Hope the new one turns up no problems should i was ok after.
Just before I return it to the store tomorrow I am still questioning the cause of the problem. The strange thing is that it doesn't appear on everything. Just on some gradients and backgrounds. Also, Google Now force closes and so does Email. I downgraded but my data was left intact, so I reset the device but the problem still persists.
Just a last final try before it goes back

Tell you the truth I'm not totally sure what the issue can be. It could be a number of thing but in the case of my old tf300 before i exchanged I had what looked like a finger print under the screen. Just sort of a smudge about the size of an eraser head. On black screens where screen was on like as when it starts up or loading an app it would show but since it was light colored It wouldn't show on most others. Not sure if that's the case for you but when I sent it back to Newegg they determined it was a problem with the lcd screen, maybe dead pixels they said.
In your case if you have option to just go to store I'd just do that and save your self the trouble. If other wise bought it online then maybe worth trying to figure out because also in my case Newegg took about a week of testing it before approving the exchange also I should mention there couple other problems with it. Not sure what else you can try if you had already downgraded which in most cases erases everything not sure whynit didn't for you I'm not sure what else to do. One other thing is to try ,aybe holding down the reset butoon on left side of tablet in the hole under the volume buttons. I posted a link earlier on lcd and pcb problem thread maybe you can try to ask some one there, they probably would know more most of them are fermiliar with hardware issues so might be able to tell you if it is or not but as i said might just he easier returning it and start fresh. Good luck and sorry I can't help more.
Just in case theres the harware issues thread again.

Thanks again
I tried the reset hole but the paper clip just goes straight in?
I've just downgraded to 4.1 and the lines disappeared. I then downloaded an OTA for Android 4.2 for the lines to then reappear.
I am about to downgrade again the then download the 4.2 firmware file instead of downloading the update OTA (in case the update file is corrupted).

Thanks.

You might try hitting it with some circuit cooler (with the cover removed of course) to see if its heat related - an upside down can of liquid air would do it. Problem is, if it is heat related, you need to provide better heat sinking, which likely means ripping your warranty sticker to get access to the IC's underneath the copper heat sink in attempt to provide better heat dissipation with thermal compound or something.
Reseating the video connector to see if its a bad connection is another viable option without creating evidence of tampering and potentially voiding warranty.
Hope this helps.

Bricked OP2, various methods attempted (including customer support), details within

So according to my buddy (whom I've given this phone), while he was showering the phone turned off and he couldn't turn it back on.
So I flashed TWRP and reinstalled OOS 3.0.2 and even tried 3.1.0, but when booting the phone will immediately go to recovery without attempting to boot into the OS. I've tried just about every unbrick method I can find for OP2, with no success. I always end up only booting into the recovery by default. I even had my buddy set up a remote session with OP support and they apparently couldn't get it to boot either and claim it needs to be sent in for repairs, without any specific technical details given.
So I guess my question would be is there anything that could be physically or otherwise wrong that would allow writing of the ROM through recovery (can even use the file explorer), but not booting? I'm game to try just about any method I haven't tried already, or maybe those I have already tried, but I don't want my friend to send OP the phone and something like $150 to fix a software issue that can be resolved with a bit of work.
If you have any questions about specifics on the device in question, feel free to ask and I'll provide what I can. Thanks in advance!
Maybe there is some water damage causing that volume-down button is "pushed"? Try to put the phone in a bag of rice for day or two, it absorbs all the humidity and can make things work again (it fixed my water-damaged fingerprint sensor).

Hadn't thought of that, though yeah I'll have him rice it just in case. Would be one hell of a funny solution after all the reflashing etc. Thanks for the reply!
You're welcome! Let me know when you pull it out of the rice, I'm quite interested whether it worked or not.

Hey! Sorry for the super late response, I've been really busy during finals at school. Anyway, the rice didn't solve the problem unfortunately. I'll be visiting him soon and trying everything I can in person (previously over teamviewer with his help), so we'll see.
