[Poll] Who is getting LG G3 ? - G3 General

Hi fellow Xda'ians.
Starting a poll to see how many of you will be buying the new phone.
I am and cant wait to see some development happening for this phone.

Really hoping the G3 satisfies my needs to qualify an upgrade, basic needs in order are :-
* 3GB ram to make it future proof
* Great camera
* SD Card
* Removable battery
* Good sound (stereo speakers would be great)
If it has these, I'm buying it and can't wait to buy it, else I'll have to look at the oppo find 7

I am. Cause I know LG is going to deliver.
Here is what I think the phone specs are going to be.
* 5.5 inch QHD display
* Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC
* 3400 mah non removable battery
* 16 mp camera with OIS
* 2mp front facing camera

I will be picking one up for sure...havent bought a new device since my note 3 and ive been waiting awhile for this bad boy.

I will more than likely. I mean, don't get me wrong, really liking my g flex, but honestly, it's just a tad bit to big and for whatever reason don't play nice with Netflix. The voice will be a hair off and is Uber annoying! So if I can trim some size down and streams that better, I'll be using my jump program a lot sooner than anticipated.

I am for sure. Hoping Verizon won't be like the last one on the list.. Hope they sell it first like the m8

I'm considering it... if there is indeed no new Nexus phone this year, I'll probably get myself a G3.

Oh man if the gflex had sd card support or more int storage I would have picked one up immediately. Such a cool device just small storage. ..which is the only issue I also have with my g2..thankfully LG has fixed that shortcoming on the G3!
Sent from my Note 3, G2, S4 or Note 2

I certainly hope so otherwise I'm going drive myself around the bend!
My Vivid is way past it's upgrade date.
I waited for the Nexus 5, but decide against it thinking the S5 would be a better choice, then saw that the M8 was imminent.
I have been on the fence with both of these phones.
I was really disappointed with the build quality/QC on the M8, widely reported and as I have seen first hand on a number of in store units. Add in screen polarizing issues, camera and reduced usable screen area made me think twice.
The S5 appears to have a lot of lag issues and this coupled with the fiddly charging port cover made me wonder if could sit out another 2 years with this phone.
I then saw the G3 on the horizon and figured that it looks like the phone for me, unless of course there's something else coming soon!
Hopefully the announcement in 10 days time will be followed by product in store to put me out of my misery!

What to buy: LG, HTC X+, Note II

First I could not buy a G3 because the rounded corners was something I could not live with. The corners on the Note 2 are NOT rounded as much, and with a Otterbox case will be not as noticeable. The specs on the note 2 are almost perfect. The PPI is a bit lower but what I've been reading not that noticible.
The LG Optimus G has a PPI of 440 and I am sure the screen will appear much finer and crisper. The negative aspects of the Optimus G however could be a bit scarry...bad support, and a bad reputation for not supporting their phones.
The HTC One X+ specs are not very clear at this point, so it is an unknown at this point. The One X was inviting to me style wise, but the phone does NOT multitask, add in a non removeable battery and no card slot, and you have to run the other way. The update to Jelly Bean may fix the multitasking issue, but that remains to be seen.
One the Note's plus side, we also have a removeable battery, and a 64gb SD card slot, a notification LED,and NON PENTILE amoled display, 2 gigs of RAM, quadcore processor, all of which makes it quite inviting. I really cant think of any negative aspects to the phone at this point.
I've been on my Atrix 4G since March of 2011 and it has served me well. I got the Nexus 7 and that has satisfied my tablet craving for sure. The Nexus 7 has a LAG ISSUE which I assume google will address and fix at some point.
Switching between my Atrix with its 4" screen, and the Nexus' 7" screen is interesting. My Atrix actually runs smoother and so upgrading the phone to something a little bigger, faster, and better is very critical to me.
We may not know exactly what the negative aspects of the Note 2 are until it is released. I learned a hard lesson with the Nexus 7. With all the hype and great reviews of it, NOONE mentioned the lag issues and other quirks. If the Note performs and feels as good as I think it will, I may sell the Nexus 7 if the wife doesnt want it .
So really the main point here is I wouldnt preorder ANYTHING anymore until it is relased to the public and vetted because everyone, the companies, the reviewers, the magazines, all want to hype everything to death, even before it is released, AND there has only been ONE main report on the serious NEXUS LAG ISSUE even months after it has been released and well known. What I can say for sure is that I'll never buy an Iphone.
Depends what you are after and use your phone for, but all 3 seems they will be very nice on their own way.
I always get all new phones and normally use 2 phones at a time, one for daily use and one play phone. In the end i always end up using phones i thought I should use last.
Like now after a good while on s3 i did go back to my HoX as I just like that screen and feeling of the phone..
But the device i really want is Lumia 920 tho, but till that comes I for sure gonna give note2 and ip5 and other nice devices a shot..
Skickat från min HTC One X via Tapatalk 2
I was all for the Optimus G initially. The "poor support" thing did concern me but I figured the devs on xda would more than cover that. I could even just about tolerate the non removable battery.. But the lack of an SD card slot just killed it. I bought a 64GB Micro SD not long ago and I wouldn't have any use for it.
The HOX+ looked interesting too but just like the LGOG, the lack of expandable memory is a deal breaker for me.
That left the GNote2.. Big screen, RBG as opposed to pentile, user-replaceable battery (I have an extended battery in my GS2 now), more than ample internals for what I plan to use it for, it's a Sammy flagship (good support), and of course, expandable memory.
Imho, the GNote2 is the way to go, but of course, that's just me

I'm getting the Note II...soon. The LG Optimus G has amazing specs. That processor may be faster than the Exynos 5250 when it comes out. It will undoubtedly the fastest processor until then. We'll just have to wait and see. But after much research, there are so many people saying they'll never buy LG phones again and they regret buying it. 2 years is a long time to live with buyer's remorse. Phone looks great, but the warning screams are too loud to ignore.
The HTC One X+, I thought for a long time that people who used the HTC One X absolutely loved their phones, and I think this is still true. However, I have followed some users who have the privilege of owning both HTC One X and Galaxy S3 who have given equal face time with both phones, and the it is clear the HTC One X has flaws with how their multitasking is implemented that it unnecessarily wares on your patience, time, and battery power. If you don't own both devices, you probably don't know what you are missing.

Yes stay away from LG, i have the G2x and yes while on paper its a great device the lack support from LG and 0 support from nvidia has left the first dual core phone in the states still running gingerbread unless you want to run ICS with no video drivers.

It would be interesting to see a poll on how many people are coming from S2's or S3's since these are basically customers Samsung have lost.
Currently have an S3 and debating this also. I'm excited about the sound performance and low light photos but worried about overall camera sharpness and lack of SD slot. Battery is not a biggie but would have been nice (every once in a while I swap them as it's more convenient to have pre-charged).

Yes, I came from S3 to Droid DNA, and LOVE the screen and overall performance! hTC one must have at least equally great screen and even faster performance.
The only thing I didn't used to when switching from S3 to Droid DNA was that I liked the wifi toggle in notification of S3. But after I installed an app called "notification toggle" from google play, everything works great! Didn't miss much about S3 except for the beautiful covers!

From what I have seen, many are going from the S3 to the HTC One. Maybe it was coincidence.
I am also going from a S3 to the One. Still haven't got it though.

I've actually got both the S3 and HTC One and have an S4 prototype to use at work and out of the three of them i have to say that the HTC is my favourite, it's really grown on me as a device, i was ready to ditch it the other day and get my money back but theres a problem with that which is in the process of being resolved but in the mean time i'm loving using the phone, everything just works at the drop of a hat. Having used the S4 today and saw some benchmarks in front of me the HTC One actually won on every one ? Which was weird as i'd read that it's supposed to be the other way around.
Saying that it is a prototype and not the actual S4 but the hardware is there, maybe not the finished software though so that probably played a part and it's not my phone so i have no idea what was installed.
I'm guessing that when the S4 is released it's going to be a beast, but as i said i still found myself going back to the One, it's build quality and those speakers are just incredible, the screen is like a mini cinema.
My only gripes (and they're not major) CRT probably won't be on the Sense roms, Bluetooth support for apps like sixaxis doesn't work (hopefully it will in the future but it actually doesn't work at the moment and will probably need a stock android rom like CM to get it to work)
Camera isn't as good as i'd have hoped for.
And lastly for me, battery life has been poor and the phone has been hot when gaming (rooted or not, it has got hot at times, but then again, it's so slim so i suppose that's to be expected)
At the moment i would say either the S4 or the HTC One is a worthwhile upgrade from the S3 seeing as both of them were able to smash quadrant into pieces and score 12500 (ish) and the s3, from my experience has only been able to manage 6500, this is seen throughout both phones and they both perform so well it's unreal.
This year should be a good one for development, difficult decision to make between the two of them, but a no brainer coming from the S3.

The pictures i've taken have been either roughly the same or superior on the S3, low light might be there but in terms of a quality pic, then no the S3 is the better camera, apertature aside, it is only a 4MP camera at the end of the day and definition has suffered because of that.
Best damn 4MP camera i've ever used though, but i wouldn't say it's better than the S3, we got a few and blew them up and yea, s3.
Makes more sense come from an S3 for a ONE (premium design, different UI and screen) than someone from an S3 to an S4, because it's almost the same thing.

G2 Or HTC one and need a backup app

Going to be leaving sprint due to its horrible coverage and will be going to t-mobile. I currently have the LG Optimus G and I love this phone. screen size Is perfect, battery life is good. Getting 8-10 hours on heavy to medium use with no charge throughout the day. I wanna get your opinion on this and also I need a backup app so I can get my contacts, text, call logs and, SD card saved.

once you pick up the phone the back button in my opinion is better than the side buttons. the only annoyance you can't access the buttons when the phone is laying down.

Had the One for a week before I picked up this phone. Fyi search for my thread. We discussed some of your questions @ length last month.
In all honestly, it took me half a day playing around with it. The tmobile and AT&T versions have bigger volume buttons so it's easier grasp vs the Verizon version
The G2 is a faster and fluid One with a better screen. It doesn't have boom sound. The audio hacks do help if you're really stuck on having the louder speaker from the One
Can u link me the thread if you don't mind. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the G2 since currently t-mobile has is offer for the G2 that makes it no down payment upfront

I am torn between these two phones. as well as the the rumored Nexus 5.
I was checking out the LG G2 and HTC one in my local AT&T store and found the G2 very easy to handle. buttons on the back didn't bother me at all. I actually thought they were well thought out.
I tested out the cameras and found the G2 had sharper images with more detail.
Forgot to bring my earphones with me so I couldn't test out the sound from audio jack. But speaker was fine on the G2. Obviously, HTC One has better external speakers, but I found the speakers for the G2 to be quite adequate for phone calls etc.
The screen is gorgeous. Very bright and sharp. I thought it looked just as good or better than the Galaxy Note 3.
I was impressed with LG's UI. Not a ton of crap like Samsung's touchwiz. Very minimal, like stock android.
My only wish is that LG released the G2 in a 64GB model. I would have bought it right there in the store.
Anyone hear any rumors about LG releasing a higher capacity G2 in the future? 32GB's will barely be enough for me. I like taking a lot of photos with my phone and carrying some music playlists and movies. 64GB would be perfect. I might have to go with the HTC One developer Edition if the LG G2 doesn't come out with higher capacity storage. Would have been ideal if they just released the korean version with the removable back cover and microsd slot.

As for removable back, the Korean model has this along with microsd built in. All of this @ the expense of a slightly smaller battery

HTC One may not have had too much detail but night pictures were clean, quick and never had any trouble.
I have yet to take a single good picture at night in the house whereas I had 1000's of pics on HTC One.
Kids move a lot and HTC One was quick and wide angle lens was a plus.
I am ready to go back to Best Buy and return this and pick up HTC One but there is little bit hope that the blurriness and fakeness at night can be fixed. I tried custom rom and camera modded but they improve one thing but not the other.
HTC One, IMHO of course, has the best night time camera as far as responsiveness, less blurry and just as a consumer. I am no expert by any chance but I see my pictures on my 22" monitor and I can tell HTC One pics were not that good quality but it was closer to real life than LG G2. Heck, I took a shot from G2 last night when kids were watching a movie and it looked like they had masks on, so much processing.
For the first time, my wife's iPhone 5 took better pics just because I didn't have my HTC One.

Had this dilemma today and once I held each device in hand it was a no brainer, G2 all the way. better battery, better screen, better pics, but a different interface that will take a bit of tweaking but that's half the fun of a new device. Add to that that the G2 is a close cousin to what will be the N5 and we should get some AOSP LOVIN!

As for removable back, the Korean model has this along with microsd built in. All of this @ the expense of a slightly smaller battery

Bump. Only thing stopping me from getting G2 today is that the developers for custom rom is very slow. And I hate using LG cuter interface. At least with the HTC One. There are plenty of custom rooms already made

The LG ui isn't all that bad. With the knock on you also have the knock off with stock launcher and/or knock off in the status bar. So no need to touch the power button unless you want to actually turn it off. And why you would want to do that when it's so awesome I don't know

I turned in my One yesterday for the G2 after owning it only 10 days. Downfalls of the One are:
tiny screen
battery life sucks
kind of a pain in the ass to return to stock
things I liked about the One:
- awesome speakers
- Blinkfeed
Before the One I owned for 10 days I had the S4 for a few months. Not a whole lot of complaints about it but the deving for it seemed to had died down and I got bored with the phone.
I really love the screen and speed of this this phone, and knock knock is awesome. Also the huge battery is a great bonus. I will be keeping this phone for more than 10 days
So I got the G2, is it able to root? I have GCLOUD and Im able to backup my contacts, but i dont see any sms,mms backup.. I have MyBackup as well but how do i transfer it to the G2 without paying for the pro version.

Mybackup root used to let you do this. Search for an older apk of the app. Once you have it, do the migrate option to transfer your contacts etc

[Q] Any LG G2 users going to try the LG G Flex?

Just wondering if any other LG G2 users might try the LG G Flex? T-Mobile is releasing the LG G Flex Feb 5th and you might be able to get Netflix free for 6 months. I still like my G2 and development is good but I'm kind of wanting to try the Flex. I prefer the G2 size but did have a Note 2 for awhile.

I def like the form factor to it...Every one has an issue with the screen resolution but my view on that is that can you honestly tell the difference as in wow this screen is bad? Nope....
Im also eager to try a larger phone as well.As far as specs well, that dont really matter much in example the moto X which is a well put together phone as in hardware/software I would of chose if it was the same size as the lg g2

Is it that much difference? I probably wouldn't even notice. The 3500mAh Flex battery makes it function a little linger then the G2. He he

The GPU is suppose to be far superior in the 805.

Haha. I have read the 720p display of the flex is top notch dispite the number. I definitely am interested in the size. Would like to wait and see if the G Pro 2 comes to T-Mobile. I would jump that in a heartbeat. If not I''ll be all over the flex. Downside of the flex to me is the "Lower" camera MP.

I went from the G2 to the G flex. First of all, i love both of these phones. But i prefer the G flex honestly. Why? Well first because of the size. I always like big phones and the G flex has plenty of screen real estate.
Second, the curve. It is SO F***ING beautiful man, so stylish and it stands out. I cant tell ya'll how many time i left the phone alone on a table then came back and looked at the curve with a smile on my face. It really is stylish. When i left my phone at work i could see ppl whispering talking about the form factor of the phone, all dumbfounded hAHahH. This phone attracts a lot of people like " Is that curved???" " Can i see it??/" Seriously the curve is so sick, its not a gimmick. It makes the 6 inch display more manageable, its very comfortable to hold in hand and in phone calls and makes watching vids and playing games a bit more immersive.
3rdly, the battery life. Im talking about consistently 8 hours of on screen time with HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY usage. Dont believe me? Check my stats here
: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553239&page=3
4th, the performance. The phone is simply zippy. Its super fast and fluid in everything.
But there are a couple of downsides in my opinion. First, the G flex that i had didnt support LTE so i was limited to 3g. Not that big of a deal since im most on the time on wifi but still, i want LTE. Second, the development is almost non existent and that KILLS me. I need Roms and kernels.
Neutral, the display. Yes it is only 720 p and it is definitely not as good as the G2 but it is more than enough and after a couple of days you get used to it and unless you put it side by side with a 1080 p phone youll be plenty satisfy. Its sharp enough, viewing angles are INCREDIBLE, colors are rich and vivid, blacks are blacks and whites are white......if you keep the brightness at 50% and up. Otherwise it becomes greyish but its not a big deal at all.
Im gonna pick up the G flex when it comes to AT&T later, it is such a great phone in my opinion. I loved having a device that no one had but i sold it for lack of LTE and development. The curve is totally worth it in my opinion, its something you can never get tired of. You will get so many praises.

I sold the flex and ill pick up the AT&T version later next month. All variants are the same ( korean models) but i seems that the K version gets the most attention in terms of "development" ( it has one rom for it and CWM ). Anyways if you're in the US better wait for the AT&T, sprint or T-mobile versions. Im sure those will get some love from developers. But otherwise i love the phone, one of my favorite devices ever.
I'm sticking to my G2 and flashing a flex rom

does it still worth it?

With all those new phone's came out lately.
I'm confused, S7 looks like a beast, and he is far more beautiful than the 6P.
Although he is also much more expensive and not to mention the crappy touchwiz.
Same thing with Note 5.
The one that caught me is the HTC 10.
But also much more expensive.
Anoter area that I'm curious about is the brightness level, how's the 6P handle?
Thanks!

Really bad battery life? My G4 SOT is around 2-2.5h depends on usage (gaming or not)
But this isn't bothering me because i have another battery with me.
But this isn't the case with the 6P that's why it's important for me.
Ya i thought the brightness isn't special from all what i heard, but i guess it is better that the G4, right?

If you're not concerned of losing the stock android interface and monthly updates, go for either of them. Just be careful, apparently the maximum brightness on the HTC is low too.
Nexus 6P is a good device but brightness is quite subpar* ; same goes with battery life, considering the beefy battery it has got!
* all stock

I'm not sure why anyone is complaining about battery life on this device, it performs really well for me. It mostly comes down to individual setup anyway, it's like installing a turbo on your car and then complaining that the car has terrible fuel efficiency.
As for whether it's still worth it, probably not. I certainly wouldn't be opting for Samsung though, and the HTC is nice but you'll be waiting several months for any updates. The next Nexus is only a few months away probably, I'd be waiting for that.

The only device i would give up pure android for is HTC. Sense is my second favorite if not par with stock android.
After been with HTC One M8 for a year and a half, than switching for LG G4.
I know how good HTC devices is, only problem is that here in ny country HTC ain't popular, most people's buy iPhone or Samsung and lately LG. Which cost me when i sold my M8, after bought it for 700$ and sold for only 250$ in new condition.
I guess the brightness on the Nexus 6P is higher than HTC 10 and my LG G4.

What i like about Samsung devices
(S7 edge and note 5)
Is the amazing display and brightness.
All other thing's including software is awful, at least for me.
S7 edge is a really beauty device, but way too expensive.
If I'll buy the HTC 10 i could live with the several month's update because it has sense which is the closets one to pure android. But also there, too expensive..
What do you mean by few month's away?
I guess also when it'll come out it'll be expensive, and till than my G4 will loss another 200$.
I'll wait for more answers, What bothering me mostly on the Nexus 6P is SD810, as G4 has SD808 which is not that different..

There are rumours that the new Nexus lineup will be released in American summer, but probably in October/November like usual.

You won't be waiting "several months" for any updates. The software on the 10 is similar to the A9 and is actually closer to stock than the A9 which got updates roughly 15 days after Nexus devices. Definitely not several months.

I am coming from the M9. The 6P blows it away in every category you mentioned. I can't even get cell reception in my basement on the M9 and the 6P has 2-3 bars. Since nobody really has the 10 other than reviewers you can't really definitely make that statement.
I will say I already miss Sense somewhat. I like having screenshot in the drop down quick settings. Where is the battery percentage? I have the system tuner version but it is useless once you get into the 50-60's percentage. Why no option to restart instead of just turning off? Gmail is terrible for exchange. I tried it again in hopes that the update this week would address some problems but it sucks. The camera app on the 10 will be much better than the 6P. HTC Mail is way better and I can't get hacked versions of HTC apps to work that is on XDA. HTC does some really good things to compliment Android without being overbearing like Touchwiz which keeps it running smooth years later, unlike Samsung. They are subtle but when you don't have them you start to notice.
That said, I was not about to pay $300 more for the 10. If it was the same price. I would have bought it. No phone is worth $1,000.

Coming from the M9 it is way better. I guess it all depends on your frame of reference and if you had a S6 S7 Samsung screen before. I can also see what people talk about with this display vs a LCD one on HTC. The images just are more vivid and punchy. If you like the flat look you can change that on the 6P as well. I like the saturation though for a change. The 10's screen is better than the M8 and M9 but not as good as the 6P. At least not $300 better. That's for sure.

The display used in nexus 6p is made by Samsung... I don't think brightness should be an issue... Also you could use ultra brightness mode in elementalx kernel... Regarding camera it's good.... Haven't used g4 so can't exactly compare them... Pm me your email. I will send you photos captured by 6p..
Note: sd810 doesn't support 10bit hevc hardware decoding whereas s7 exynos supports it... So sd820 may support it too... Shouldn't bother you if you don't watch 10bit videos on phone.
Samsung = Knox.
If you want to tether on an UDP (Verizon) you must have root for WiFi tether.
So if I were to buy a phone today, unless I could unlock the bootloader, the device is not on my shopping list.
So for me on Verizon, Nexus or HTC. With HTC you can at least usually pay someone for S-Off.
I have an M9 from day one last year. Really liked it but got the 6P last November because of the improved camera. Also because the monthly updates it receives.

Really on the fence atm as well.. The 32gb is about $650 CAD and the 64gb is about $700 CAD on Newegg.. Ive been running through reviews and comparison videos all week and I am so close to purchasing it, but the price still kind of hurts. It has everything I need, but battery life seems to vary among everyone. The camera also seems to have some issues and lag time between users. The most recent update was suppose to fix it, but some users are still experiencing slow-downs. The phone is almost 7 months old, but since its by Google, updates will always be rolling out.
Love stock android as I had the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 5, but moved away to the Asus Zenfone 2, which is already experiencing slow downs and my camera is all wonky. I would never purchase a phone over $600, but the Nexus 6P is looking amazing. Right now, I am just looking for a way to justify buying it
