How to disable OTA - Droid Ultra General

I want to block OTA how can this be accomplished?

Well, If you are rooted and have Titanium Backup Pro installed you can freeze MotorolaOTA and Updater 1.0. Freezing those will block it for sure.

what are the actual apk names of those two apps? (and where are they, system/app folder or somewhere else)
Edit: found the OTA apk in priv-app folder - 3c_ota.apk (and .odex)

By doing this wont we lose the ability to receive future OTA's or manually update without jumping through a thousand hoops? .... like when Paul's app modified the system folders to remove goggles?

It doesn't matter too much now. Just wait and we will get all kinds of custom ROMs and you can flash whatever you want. After OTAs come out, usually you can get a custom deodexed version within hours. At least that's how it was on my N1. I'm pretty sure there are more G2s in peoples hands now than N1s, hence more interest? Just guessing...

Back then, we didn't have S-OFF so putting the app back after it was deleted was impossible. Now we do have S-OFF so we're all good, as long as you backed-up the apps prior to removing them.
do i have to delete the the original .apk and .odex files from the system/app after moving the originals to the sdcard/backup? or do i just move it, and leave the original stuff in the system app. and reboot. and then install the CM apk's?
dam legit!

If you move them from one place to another, then they are only in the place where you moved the to, and are no longer in the place where you moved them from. Hence move not copy.

Removed System Apps Preventing Update - App List and Downloads

So it seems that those of us unfortunate enough to of removed any system apps from the original ROM will not be able to update. Can anyone upload the non-licensed apps here so everyone can easily revert to stock so we can update?
I can see that there are requests popping up and it would be a good idea to have a central thread with all stock apps available. With 3.1 update on the horizon and the absence of recovery solutions, it would be handy for everyone to have easy access to all of these APKs.
PLEASE DO NOT POST LINKS TO ANY FULL GAMES!!!!

Anyone have any more to list here?
We need a complete list of all the apks and odex files from a untampered source. I can't remember all I changed.
I have edited the original post to include list of APKS - see above
As long as I know, the .apk's are different for different kernel version.
You can try search /system dumps (system.img) in this forum, and extract those .apk's using ext2explore. I did fix my Email.apk using this way.

i found that you can download these apps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086887
Hi, my Iconia offered me an update. Ofcourse because of the missing apps
it was unsucessfull of instaling it. So I downloaded this package from the following link:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8KHWBF7E
link that I found on this forum and copyed the missing apps from it
in the system/app, with root explorer. Beware to mount the system/app
folder as Mount R/W in root explorer to allow write in it.
Then the update went fine.
Thanks to this forum for helping me and all the other members.
can't seem to update the email or any other apk with a matching odex. What am I doing wrong?
Here;s a complete folder untouched from a system dump. It has the apk and odex files. hope this helps anyone.

Thanks a lot for this file. I copied all files in app folder with root explorer and now it says that my tablet is up to date without me upgrading. I guess you zipped the files after the upgrade?
No, that's was from the system dump over at SDX, I think dc13 posted it >>> http://forum.sdx-developers.com/acer-a500-development/system-dump-14235/ . But you are still welcome anything to help out a fellow member

Reset back to stock and still cant update.
Ive only had my a500 for a week. I have not removed/deleted/renamed any of the stock apps. I installed gingerbreak (to root) and thats about it. oh i changed the resolution with LCD density changer. I cant update.
So i reset back to stock and still no luck. Any ideas?
I used Root explorer to copy the original factory APKs to the system/app folder. In the middle of copying, Root explorer force closed and the tablet restarted ittself. Now it is stuck in a loop on the ANDROID boot screen
How do I fix that?
Thanks to everyone who helped to provide files for the update. I'm finally updated!

[Q] help with disabling OTA update

I'm with T-Mobile if that helps or changes anything, running 4.2.2. Now, I've gotten my phone to stop bugging me to install the OTA update. But the problem is the OTA update is still downloading in the background, it's just that I'm not being bugged by my phone to update it (i.e. there's no icon showing up in the notification bar). It becomes a sort of "silent update." So why is this a problem for me?
Because I'm on T-Mobile's cheapest plan which is the 500mb data plan. Each time the OTA downloads it eats up 155mb. And twice already this billing cycle it's done it, so that's 310mb of data wasted.
There are posts saying to use Titanium Backup Pro and freezing an app called Software Update MUC, and another post referring to the file as Software Update 2.3.0.5, but on my phone (using TB Pro) there's no file starting with "Software" anything.
So how do I stop my phone from downloading the OTA all together? Please help. Thanks.
Just install the update, that will make it stop for good
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
Sorry, forgot to mention doing that won't work. For some reason my phone doesn't properly install OTA updates. I don't mind being stuck on 4.2.2. I just want the OTA downloads to stop in the first place.
Give this a try...
If rooted, use a file manager like Root Explorer, go to System/Etc/Security, (mount R/W) and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.bak
Reboot phone.

I've done that already. I renamed the file to otacerts.zip.back (instead of .bak). I assume that doesn't make any difference. I believe renaming the file is what is causing my phone to not show the OTA icon in the notification bar. But as I said, the issue for me is that my phone is still downloading the update itself.
Any other ideas?

On my phone, the file listed that comes before where lgfota.apk/odex should appear is LGEIME_THEME_BLACK.odex, and the file after that file is LGGallery.apk.

I don't have a system/priv-app folder, either. I'm on stock rom, but I removed as much bloat as I can, including certain apps I find no use for (e.g. double-tap, voice command, etc). Maybe this will help: I used Root Explorer's search feature and searched for "fota", and here's what I think are the most "relevant" results:
/lgdms.fota.rc
/lgdms.fota_update.rc
/etc/fota
/etc/permissions/com.lge.fota.xml
/system/framework/com.lge.fota.jar
/system/framework/com.lge.fota.odex
Does this help? Anyone?

[Q] Paid apps?

I am trying to find the directory that contains all of the paid app apk files and in previous phones they were found in the data/app-private folder but there isn't anything in that folder and I do have a lot of paid apps installed. They're not in the data/app folder either.
Can anyone help me and tell me where I can look to find these? I am rooted and have access to all directories.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I thought they'd be in /data/app too but I have apps installed that are not in that folder and all of the apps missing seem to be paid apps. They are not in the system/app folder either. The directory /data/app-private is empty even though that is where paid full version apps were stored in previous phones I've owned. I have looked through the folder /data/app and all of my free apps are located there and some of the paid apps are too but there are many paid apps missing from that folder even though they are installed on the phone.

All your paid apps are in the root directory mnt/asec inside you will see folders titled the app name. Inside the folder you will see pkg.apk. copy the pkg.apk to your backup location and rename it to the app name so you know what it is. Rinse and repeat for all paid apps.

[APK request] latest OnePlus 5 OxygenOS 9.0.9 screenshot app (com.oneplus.screenshot)

Hi XDA family.
Happy Holidays to all of you.
After unexpectedly resurrecting my OP5 from the dead this week, I made it slight mistake afterwards.
When going through the files in my download folder, I found an old com.oneplus.screenshot apk and felt the need to install it.
Unfortunately, that was an older version (the most recent version will show a small thumbnail in the top right, my older shows it in the bottom right corner) and I'd like to revert back to the more recent version.
I have tried apkmirror already but they don't seem to have the latest version.
tl;dr
I have installed an older version of com.oneplus.screenshot and need the latest apk to update.
Your help is much appreciated

You are right, in the folders mentioned, I also could not find the apk.
But in /data/app I do see it, please check my attached screenshot.
The base.apk should be all I need.
If you could grab and upload it, I'd wanna give it a try.
Thanks in advance

hello!..
I used skit app to extract the apk from my phone, I'm on latest ota 9.0.9.. screenshot app version is 1.1.0
I hope it helps u..
The app exists as /system/app/OPLongshot/OPLongshot.apk on OxygenOS 9.0.9.
Simply deleting the newly installed apk's folder from /data/app/ is sufficient in most cases to "restore" the app version when a system app has been "updated" with a non-system "update" such as tapping an apk file while in a file manager.
It should also be stated that this particular application uses a dedicated library folder containing the following two symlinks:
Code:
ln -s /system/lib64/libencryptjni.so /system/app/OPLongshot/lib/arm64/libencryptjni.so
Code:
ln -s /system/lib64/op_encrypt.so /system/app/OPLongshot/lib/arm64/op_encrypt.so
in case a system app installation for this apk needs to be restored.
