phone is not deleting pictures, pictures will re-appear on their own - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried to delete 4 pictures, I select them then delete them.... well, later when I open gallery again, pictures are back! no matter how many times I delete them, they always come back. Does anyone have this problem and how to fix it? thanks

It could be Picasa/Dropbox pictures, then it gets synced automatically. If so, de,ete them and change your sync settings for google/picasa/Dropbox....

No piccasa, no drop box active on my S5 :/

Those pictures would be in your memory card . . . It happened with me too, with solid explorer, when i was deleting some stuff in memory card, it was showing that it has been deleted, but after some times, it reappeared . . . Whatever you want to delete, use My Files ( stock file manager from samsung ). It will clear the issue for you . . . I hope it will help, and another thing, the root of this problem is kit kat, Google has restricted the SD Card permissions to write . . .

I just tried that and it works... I can say kitkat sucks!!! this is one of the few issues I'm experiencing! another issue I'm having is, I use google voice and stock app to send texts, I want my phone to ask me which app I want to use everytime I want to send a text so I cleared the defaults for stock app.... but after I restart the phone, stock app selects itself as default!

Good lad. You're learning!
I am having the same problem with removing an old gmail account from the previous owner of the phone. After you deleted the data file, how did you get your internet/3g working again? I'm afraid to delete it before I know what to do afterward to make sure everything works when running android. I think I have the nexus one version on my hd2. Thank you.

If you had sd card and it was going bad, then I could imagine apps that install partially to sd card get corrupted and stop working. There should be
LOST DIR folder, if anything is there, those are lost and later recovered file fragments. You would need at least reformat the card, possibly replace it. If that's not the case then I have no idea.
Yes my external sd is corrupt. Cant add or delete anything from it. I contacted sandisk and they will replace it in a weeks time. So that must be the problem then?

photos/videos don't show in gallery app or backup

Hi guys
I've just moved on to lollipop and have noticed an issue with photos and videos after they have been taken .
Basically what happens is the phone wont -
Show you the picture from the preview button
Show in the gallery but can be viewed via a file manager
They also do not get backed up to one drive or Google drive
Anything I can do short of re flashing the rom ?

Backup all your internal data and factory reset your device
Sounds like an issue with Mediaserver or Indexing.
Is there .nomedia file in the main directory or the image directory?

No way to resolve it without a re flash ?
Try downloading an app from playstore like rescanmedia or similar.

Crashes as soon as I open it .
It's looking more and more like a re flash right ?
tried a reflash and it still has the same issue.
Got this working I cleared the cache and data of the media storage process and all seems to be good.
Thanks for responding guys.

go to settings>apps then look for anything that might have been related to the app, maybe addons or something left over that needs to be uninstalled, if it doesn't work maybe download a cleaning app like cleanmaster or something to clean apps leftovers
