S5 International Boot Animation - Sprint Galaxy S 5 General

This will replace the carrier provided files with the international ones. It includes the startup and shutdown animations and sounds from the International S5. This should work on any version of the S4 and S5. It should also work on the S3 and Note but I couldn't test those.
This wipes cache and dalvik for you so no need to do that separately.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
As with everything I release, you are welcome to use this any way you need. Just remember where it came from:good:

Confirmed working on the S3 with ND8 4.4
Have a great day!

It didnt work for my s3, still shows the google boot animation
i tried to do it manually, change the old media folder to a diff name, and it wouldnt let me change it. or do anything to it
nevermid, it got it just had to change the write permissions

Installing this didn't change my animations at all. They are still the same as after Odin flashed stock Sprint ROM.

Any errors on flashing? Which recovery did you use? Has anyone with the 5 successfully installed this? I don't have the 5 but I don't see why it wouldn't have worked. I know it works on the s3 and s4. Unless your partition names have changed, which I doubt.

The international boot zip contains ALL bootanimations, including the Stock Sprint. The international bootanimation is installed already on Stock Samsung S5 for Sprint, thus you are seeing the Sprint animations as well. The device, recognizing itself as sprint, launches the SPR-bootanimation ogg files thus no apparent difference from stock. To fully get the samsung only boot (ie, look like its truly intentional version without sprint animation) you need to remove the SPR bootanimation files for them not to show.

While this is true under normal circumstances it doesn't apply to this zip. This zip replaces all of the carrier files with the international ones. So basically all of the SPR_, and other carrier files, are just copies of the international versions. So that if you flash this on any carrier, ATT, Sprint, VMU and so on it should work. I have personally tested on two Sprint S4's and have confirmations on two Sprint Galaxy S3's. I don't have or know of anyone with an S5 to do any testing. Which is why I am looking for confirmation of it working for someone on the S5 or failing for everyone on the S5. Just from basic thinking I don't see any reason as to why it would't work on the S5 like it did on the S3 and S4. It doesn't use a static system partition mount so that would not be it. It does mount by name so if that name has changed on the S5 that could be the issue. Not sure off the top of my head. Need some testers willing to test and report back if it worked or not. And if not did you receive any errors during flash?

No Flash errors and the contents of the .zip seems to be the same as the contents of the directory on the stock ROM.

OK, I see the issue. My phone never displays the SPR bootanimation, only the Samsung version so your modified SPR never executes on my phone.

OK So you already have the colorful samsung logo on boot and not the Sprint version right? Like the example in the OP.
Edit: And if that's true can you just confirm for me that your SPR_ files match those in my zip. If they match then we can say that the zip works and this was an unrelated occurrence.

Yes, the SPR file is the same size as the Samsung file. Your zip does work.
Any idea where I need to specify SPR in order to get my SPR bootanimation back?

Going just from memory, if you are already running the default samsung logo that means the Sprint package never got installed on your phone. This usually happens right after activation of the phone or after a factory reset. You will see some popup with the Sprint logo and it installs all of the Sprint specific apps and settings. So, without being able to dig into the files, you would want to try activating your phone again or doing a factory reset. Now I am sure there is another way of just editing files on your phone to point the CSC back to sprint. But you would need to restore the SPR boot files to get back to the default boot animation also. I don't think the sprint package installs them. It just sets up the CSC so it knows where to pull them from.
Edit: I put up an uninstaller that you can use to restore the files to your phone but you will still need to get the Sprint package installed or find the CSC setting to point it to SPR before it will pull the files.

OK I put up an uninstaller to the OP. This will restore the boot animations and sounds back to factory defaults. This is only for the S5 unless you want the stock S5 animations on your phone.

OK let me get a little more detail from you. So you had the Sprint boot animation and flashed the international zip. Then you flashed the uninstaller and still had the Samsung boot animation right? If so, did you receive any errors while flashing? And the obvious question, you do have the Sprint S5 right?

Yes I have the Sprint galaxy S5 Model # SM-G900P. I was on RDDT ND2 rom, but I switched back to ND2 stock rom from Sammobile, I flashed it with ODIN. Before I had flashed anything on my phone, when I was on Stock ND2 I had samsung logo + sprint logo in boot animation..then after flashing RDDT and then back to stock, now I only have Samsung logo. Even after I flashed the uninstall script you posted, I only get Samsung logo..no errors on flashing with TWRP. I even did a factory reset from the rom and still only get samsung logo..and after activating the phone and I get all sprint apps but no boot animation.

Then you would have something else going on. I would have thought it would be the lack of the Sprint installer running but since you said that ran I don't have any idea. Once you did the Odin to ND2 you already had the stock boot animation. So the Sprint boot should have shown after it installed the Sprint package. The uninstaller only reverts back to stock, which you had already done, so that explains why it didn't do anything. I really don't know what the cause would be. I would have recommended a factory reset to force the Sprint package to install but since that was already done I don't know. I would post a thread in QA about your specific case and see if anyone else might have an answer.

Mystery Frankenstien S4 Multiple Errors and Inconsistencies

I've got a strange S4 on my hands. Its stock 4.4.2 was reporting it as i9505, international S4 LTE version.
However the download mode is reporting it as SPH-L720. Nvm, just a little hiccup I thought, let's go ahead.
I managed to get it to root and install TWRP 3.0.1.0 S4 LTE version. However after this it started throwing the Recovery is not SELinux enforcing error. It was still booting fine however. Could enter both S4 Stock rom and TWRP.
I wiped its data, cache, dalvik, and system, formatted to F2FS. So far so good. Installed AOSP 6 by JD Team, installed stock GApps. Booted straight into
Great. Everything's working perfect. Now I inserted my sim and whoop-de-doo. Sim shows up in home menu, but no antenna activity.
That's strange, why isn't it working? I thought the modem firmware was out of date or incompatible with Android M. Decided to find the latest FW matching my modem description and flash it.
Except, this is what showed up in the data I'd taken care to gather before beginning anything:
Model Number: GT-I9505
Baseband version: I9505OLBFNB4
Build Number: KOT49H.V1
AP: I9505XXUBFNB7
CP: I9505OLBFNB4
CSC: I9505DXUFNB3
Found a firmware I thought matched and flashed it. Rebooted, and suddenly phone won't boot at all.
Can't find a firmware now. PIT's gone. Phone is showing "SECURE FAIL: KERNEL" and "System software not authorized b Samsung has been found on your phone" on normal power on where it refuses to boot at all. Can't access TWRP either.
I can still go into Download mode and Odin can still access the phone.
I'm completely lost with how to proceed with this now however. Phone model numbers do not match anything, PIT gone, TWRP gone, serial numbers do not match anything, Kies refuses to initialize the phone, etc etc.
Any help would be welcome. I had opened over 50 tabs before I suddenly lost heart and closed all of them and took to writing this post. Thanks for reading.
EDIT: Further checking the IMEI shows the phone is actually a i9500 according to SNDeep.com. This just keeps getting worse.
if you bought this from a second hand from a phone shop it's state is down them not having a clue what they are doing and flashing firmware onto it. pretty much everyone here has the not enforcing SEandroid on recovery and kernel it's nothing to worry about.
AOSP 6.0.1 is almost a unified rom so it works with all but a few variants of s4, the problem is whatever you tried to flash after that, you didn't mention what that was. but it's kinda beside the point now.
when you enter download mode whatever model it mentions there is the firmware want to download and flash via odin.

I flashed a MDCModemOnly version of the CP firmware. Since the phone said its a SPH-L720, I thought the latest unlocked European rom would fix the antenna problems.
Clearly I screwed that up.

The SPH-L720 is a Sprint S4. So you'll have to flash that firmware. I believe sprint is a US carrier only, is that right?
So it's a CDMA (or CMDA?) device I guess. That means it uses different frequencies to connect to the network. I'm not really sure what I saying, lol. I just know that GSM and CDMA are a bit different when it comes to network connectivity.

Sprint, as far as I know, don't lock the bootloaders. Only AT&T and Verizon do.
Here you have the CF Auto root thread for the SPH-L720 if you still are concerned.
Is there any place to download the firmware aside from sammobile.com? They're demanding I pay them to download a firmware at more than 15kb/s!

You could try SamFirm. It's a tool for downloading Samsung firmwares, but it requires some info about the phone and, since you can't boot up, it will be hard to get.

Wow, thanks, that worked like a charm! Already had pulled my PDA, CP and CSC, knew the region and Downloading mode reported SPH-L720.
Currently downloading at 400kB/s.
Voila! Works. Stock SGS4 5 installed, only Knox Warranty set to 0x1, everything else's fine.
I've already rooted the phone with cf-auto-root and Odin, installed TWRP Manager, now what?
TWRP manager is asking me to install Busybox, should I do that? I'm attempting to install TWRP recovery and flash JDCTeam's AOSP 6.

TWRP can be flashed with Odin or with an app called Flashify.
I recommend the Odin method.
But if you want to install it with TWRP manager, there is no harm in that. But you do need to install busybox. Just follow the app's prompts.
Followed your advice, installed TWRP 2.8.4 via Odin, upgraded it via TWRP to 3.0.1.0.
Following this I've tried installing JDCTeam's AOSP 6.0.1 again. However, my cellular network has been deactivated. AGAIN.
Now what?
EDIT: My baseband is reporting L720VPUGOK3 according to the current ROM.

Is that the most recent?
It could be caused by the fact that the phone was repaired with mismatched parts.
Or kernel related. They have a stock aosp kernel that you can flash. Try with that.

Flash it via ODIN's AP command?
EDIT: Yes, I believe so. It is the one that was returned as most recent by both Sammobile and Samtool, as well as according to official samsung releases.
EDIT 2: Flashed it via TWRP, no difference. Still no network.
I don't get it, this is odd. The team lists L720 as supported, and my phone is unlocked, after all I can use the default SGS4 stock ROM with my SIM and network, so why isn't it working on this?

You can try and update the modem and bootloader even further, manually, via Odin.
There is a dedicated thread in the general section.
I don't think it will work, but it may be worth a try.
If I look further...
Phone Model = GT-I9505
Bootloader = SPH-L720
IMEI = a GT-I9500 phone
I think it's a GT-I9505 phone with SPH-L720 motherboard and IMEI that tampered from a GT-I9500 phone. Really, I would bring back this phone to the seller.

Exactly. Things are really weird with this. But returning this isn't an option. Phone belongs to a friend and he's been using it a while. Can't take this back now.
Also restoring to stock wiped out the international unlock. Phone is showing Sprint in top left corner.
Right now the phone is 101% stock 5.0.1. If anyone can please help guide me through unlock this permanently for all future foreseeable ROMs and flashes, please.
Managed to unlock it via the S4 Unlocker, following the instructions in that thread.
Still can't get 4G LTE to run on it like it was before, but can confirm 3G HSPA+ mode is working fine on it.

Stock Recovery for 900A

I cannot do any more looking to night. Is there a stock recovery for the 900A somewhere? I keep finding only firmwares.
I used dd to write a recovery to the sd card and now I get a message that says "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest AT&T store for help." After the boot screen, this is all I get when I start the phone after doing a factory reset. I can get into download mode though.
This is the worst phone I've ever dealt with when it comes to flashing. WTF AT&T?!

Pokmemon Go/ Uninstalled Kingroot and derooted boot screen custom & gear icon on boot
Hi, so a while ago I tried using kingroot and installed it for a little bit and used root to uninstall some factory installed apps like amazon, etc. then when i decided i did not want root anymore. i used the kingroot app to remove root and then uninstalled the kingroot application.
then i downloaded a root checker app to see if i was rooted. i was not.
now whenever i boot up my phone it says samsung and then the word custom with a gear icon below it.
now when i tried the newest version of pokemon go version 0.37.0 it says it cannot run on my device cause apparently it thinks i am rooted.
is there anyway to solve this? other than a factory reset?
I don't think a factory reset would help either.
You'd have to delete every trace of root left on your device, and kingroot probably left some files behind.
Unless you can find them, the most sure method is to flash another ROM (stock) though Odin.
I believe a custom kernel would also work, or the stock boot.img of your current ROM.

I already told you that a factory reset does not unroot.
If you want to completely unroot, flash the stock ROM.
If you don't want that, downgrade to Pokémon version 0.35.
0.37 has not even been officially released yet. I mean, I don't even have it on the play store and it's the same for many others.
PS: Xposed also needs root.

You need one for your specific phone model (AT&T or Verizon I assume).

ok how do i get the stock boot.img of my current rom? also dumb question, could you explain what a rom is? also is odin a program that i use on my laptop to flash the rom to my phone while it is connected to my laptop? also what is sammmobile? and if you say i should get a rom, is there a specific version of the rom that i should get? sorry for dumb questions.

I already told you that a factory reset does not unroot.
If you want to completely unroot, flash the stock ROM.
If you don't want that, downgrade to Pokémon version 0.35.
0.37 has not even been officially released yet. I mean, I don't even have it on the play store and it's the same for many others.
PS: Xposed also needs root.

ok now do you mean a firmware or rom? am i at the right place see screencap. also how large should these files be? i already have odin downloaded. i am using this guide: http://downloadstockrom.com/download-android-4-4-2-stock-rom-for-samsung-galaxy-s4-sch-i545-2.html
GDReaper said:
I don't think a factory reset would help either.
You'd have to delete every trace of root left on your device, and kingroot probably left some files behind.
Unless you can find them, the most sure method is to flash another ROM (stock) though Odin.
I believe a custom kernel would also work, or the stock boot.img of your current ROM.

You don't need a pit file. And if the files are wrong, the instalation will just fail.
If that's the firmware you had previously, then it's ok.

Yes. But if the firmware is older than what you had on the phone (5.0 > 4.3) it may fail to flash.

AT&T S7 Edge stuck on a boot loop I believe, I'm not sure where to go from here.

I have an official US AT&T S7 Edge bought from the carrier themselves, and I attempted to root it.
Really, I didn't do anything wrong. I turned my phone onto download mode, opened up Odin, selected the root AP and pressed Start.
It performed successfully, however, now it'll show the "Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge" logo screen on repeat, turning off and on every 2-3 seconds. Not stuck on the regular Samsung logo.
Did it work? Did I break it? What do I do? Do I run the root.bat or am I screwed?
Thanks

the bootloader is locked so no root is available for any snapdragon s7 edge just flash stock rom
Kinda ****ed right now.
Stuck on that loop for a while, tried downloading a stock ROM to flash it with, and it wouldn't work due to multiple Odin errors. Tried everything to do with my USB cable, and still nothing.
Now I can't even get on the recovery boot screen...

Restore not working for me

Hi Everyone I'm not even sure if anyone is going to reply to this but heres the deal. yesterday i flashed a custom rom to my phone s4 (sgh-i337m unlocked carrier) i have twrp3 installed for custom restore and i did make a restore file when my phone was still on lollipop, and i think that the backup worked because the boot screen is back to stock but now heres my issue, i power up my phone i get past the "galaxy s4" screen but get stuck on the samsung animation, i gave up on it after it sitting there for 2 hours then i removed the battery and then flash installed 7.x nougut onto it, but cant get playstore but thats just minor but what i do want is to go back to full stock no root, i feel that ive made a mistake and im just not comfortable with it anymore even if i loose all my stuff thats fine ive had the phone for a week, i do have odin on my computer but dont know how to use it because theres icons like bl, ap, cp and csc i dont know what those are well i know ap for installing twrp. I'm needing help like yesterday
You will have to download the stock ROM and flash it with Odin. Stock ROMs can be downloaded from sammobile.com, but download speeds are slow for non-premium users.
Flash guides can be found with everywhere.
Confirm that the model # is sgh-i337m in download mode. If it is, do this:
download Odin 3.07: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...168421&usg=AFQjCNHMbaSWjgVwWQGtMVr1TvJSsXWUcA
download the latest 5.01 firmware from here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s4/SGH-I337M/BMC/download/I337MVLSGQB1/125370/ (This is for Bell but it doesn't matter because Rogers, Bell, Telus, Koodo, and Fido use the same ROM with some minor carrier customization). Unzip the file once to create a tar.md5 file;
put the phone into download mode;
open Odin and click on PDA, select the tar.md5 file;
connect the phone to the computer using the original Samsung USB cable;
uncheck everything except f reset time and flash the phone;
when you see the word RESET in the status window, remove the USB cable from the phone, remove the battery, replace the battery; boot the phone into recovery mode, factory reset, and reboot.

Thankyou i did fully verify everything before hand and yes it is sgh-i337m i actually got a different rom fully working and i do thank all users that did view and help me out. I did find a way to get gapps installed wothout issues. I still cant restore the device back to stock but i actually bought a replacement stock phone and use this one that were communicating on now. So now i have two phones completely identical minus the fact that one is unlocked from at&t and the other was never locked to anything.

Took a while but finally acquired 2 stock roms one telus and one sasktel. I will probably do a rom swap one day
The non-aws version of the s4 sold in Canada is the sgh-i337m. You can cross flash roms from any carrier as they are all the same except for a bit of customisation by adding their own apps.
A quick download source is updato.com.
Btw, the Canadian s4 forum is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att
I'm stuck also on the samsung animation screen, and flashing a stock rom does nothing for me it's stuck. I can't even go into stock recovery. everytime i do try it just say recovery booting and loops back into samsung screen. is there any way to fix this?
Thanks I'm new to the site and didn't know there was a Canadian s4 forum, I thought it was a specific device forum because my phone isn't att because att is not active on my area, we have telus, koodo, rogers, sasktel and bell

One thing I did because I was in the same boat and it sounds like your stuck in a soft boot is download lots of roms to a SD card and trial and error, use the latest version of twrp and flash the first version of twrp to the phone with Odin there's lots of YouTube videos to assist you, also when using a custom rom (in my experience) is that you also have to download gapps to gain the full google/android experience and it's safer to download apps with Google playstore compared to using a browser. Also when flashing remember to wipe catche and delvic before rebooting. Hope this helps and if your using the same kinda device as me I'd recommend the 7.1.2 rom by JDC it works pretty good and it feels like the s8
