But I was in that place
Sony color images closer to reality
Photos taken with HTC are overexposed and white balance issues.i find HTC produces more natural colors then Sony but sony has more saturated colors and so they look nicer then HTC.
HTC has wide angle lens which is meant to take landscape photos but non existent DR of HTC camera struggles to take beautiful landscape photos. As a result HTC UltraPixel camera is not a good camera but not bad either. It just doesn't fit to flagship phone nowadays.
As a HTC one m8 user i have to admit that Sony compact z3 better camera then htc UltraPixel. I am glad they will drop UltraPixel on next flagship phone

Ultrapixel has allways been a joke, the camera is just bad, even thoug some HTC owners think they got a hasselblad cam...

You can go to any device section and read complaints about the cameras. Why? The cameras in phones are cheap "add ons" and no phone camera compares to a $99 actual camera.

People complain about everything. There are no threads about dslrs and if they were some, people would be complaining there. As far as camera being "cheap add ons" that's a big load of nonsense. People use their camera more than ever and the iPhone 6 cameras for example, is far from a cheap add on, its simply incredible.
So why are camera cameras so big? If less than an inch squared space can pack a camera in that's just as good? ?
I've never seen any phone take a picture any where near as good as my 3 year old Kodak that cost about 129 bucks at the time. ?
Not here to argue though... Just like to toss my 2 cents in when I see threads like this. ??

Oh.. And I don't disagree, phones have replaced cameras for many many people..... But when you really really want nice pics at an event.... A phone is going to disappoint you often.
Ive just come from owning an S5 and then a z3, now thankfully back to the best smartphone out there the M8
Hated the camera on the S5, most of my photos are taking in low British winter dim dull and dank lighting, 5/10 photos would be incorrectly focused or generally blurry, the Z3 did a lot better but that auto setting is awful, manual modes are very good and low light capture is miles better than the S5 but not as consistently good as the M8, i like to capture without flash as much as possible and so far the best for overall quick low light capture is the M8, also the Ufocus and other completely unique tools are unbeatable in my opinion something only the dual lens can create, if i want photos to print I'll use an SLR, but very very rarely do i want to these days.
Yes the M8 does create a slightly warmer photo, something I tend to adjust on most of mine, to try and warm things up, must put the heating on
Well for me I see that the M8 camera is the better one, man this camera can make magic if you know how to use it, I take some time to understand the correct way to deal with M8 camera and it is the best phone camera as I can see it

I have taken these photos with my One M8 ...
I myself think that the M8 has better colors and its photos are more near to reality !!!
Though Z3 has more details on photos because of 20 MP camera ...
But as you see , in our monitors & Displays , just A 4 MP camera can be enough ! we don't need a 20 MP camera for our Displays , because they can show just 2 or 3 mega pixels !

HTC is Not the natural color

My experience has always been
Sony not good in automatic mode
It's all a bit subjective of course but side by side I think:
The M8 over exposes slightly in bright light, but can be as good if not better in medium light.
The Z3 gives a higher contrast and better handling of mixed brightness scenes.
The Z3 gives a "colder" (maybe more natural) feel by emphasizing blues rather than greens.
Overall the Z3 for me just edges better in certain light conditions but maybe it could improve the green range slightly.
In medium lighting I can see some might prefer the M8 though.

+1 That's going to be nice if it makes it to market. And with the Z3C being waterproof we wouldn't need and extra cover.
looks to be an innovative solution. One flaw is the Z3 needs to be in portrait to be visible with polarised sunglasses.
I've modded a Z3C as a bike computer and having good results so far

Display is a lot better than the normal Xperia Z5(fhd).

So I have both a Sony Xperia Z3 and a HTC One M9 which one is better and why? I heard HTC One M9 (T-Mobile Version) is getting Nougat
Had a 6633 Z3 which I bought used, I loved the battery life, sleek copper bronze build and relative compactness of the build, the LCD display surprised me a bit.
But the M9 despite its shortcomings as a 2015 flagship is infinitely better, and I also couldn't find proper custom ROMs for the Dual-SIM variant since the developers only have access for the D6603 blobs. I would still pick the M9 above the Z3+/Z4 or Z5.
The XZ (2016) is the only one I would consider to replace this device.
