[Q] Unlocked Sprint Note 3 - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In theory, wouldn't it be possible to use an Unlocked Sprint S3 on Verizon? They both use CDMA networks. I was just wondering if I could do that and stay with Verizon, but also get a Bootloader unlock.
Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk

They both do use cdma but I think they use dofferen bands so it would not be possible and even if it was you would be stick on 3g or with no data at all
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

You can flash a Verizon Note 3 to Sprint and you can flash a Sprint Note 3 to Verizon. It has nothing to do with carrier locked/unlocked phones in CDMA. Flashing is done through CDMA flashing tools such as DFS. Either direction you go, you will only get voice, SMS, MMS, and 3G data speeds. No LTE. It is best that you just trade your Sprint Note 3 for a Verizon Note 3 if you've never done a CDMA phone flash before and/or if you want to use LTE.

Is T Mobile Neuxs 4 Unlocked?

Hey, I just wanna know if it's unlocked because t mobile told me it's not unlocked and this guy on youtube told me it's not unlocked but it's easy to unlock.. Yet I see soooo many forums that say it's unlocked. I need to know if it's unlocked cause I may be switching to Sprint due to the fact that they have more coverage in PA than T Mobile does even though I live in NY, i recently bought a house down in PA and my t mobile service sucks
If it isn't unlocked, please tell me how I can unlock it. Thank you.
It comes unlocked. But different technology than Sprint uses so it won't work for them. It will only work with carriers who use a SIM card.

it is unlocked for gsm carriers
sprint and verizon are not gsm so you wont be able to use it with sprint.
and also there is NO possible way to use it on sprint. different bands different wireless technologies
The Nexus 4 is a GSM device not a CDMA device. A Sim-card is required to use the phone.

It is unlocked. You could use AT&T or one of their MVNO's like NET10. The deals are not as good for data, but they have better coverage outside the city. I would do a network scan while in PA and see what GSM carrier's show up. If you see AT&T, try a NET10 SIM for 1 month and if reception is strong enough, choose them or AT&T directly. If not, sell the N4 and look for a new phone and carrier. A friend who lives in the city, but has a house in PA uses Verizon because Sprint has poor data speeds there.

Incorrect. Only works on GSM carriers with sim. Verizon uses sim cards on their lte devices and putting that sim in a nexus 4 wouldn't work.

(Q) GSM settings on VZN

Is there any reason that the VZN rom had greyed out GSM settings. Does this mean that there are antennas that can be enabled with drivers or a SIM from ATT or TMobile?

The phone is a world phone which means you can put in any gsm SIM card and it will work with the Bands that the phone is equipped with. I have used it on T-Mobile and metropcs successfully so far.
Also the area is greyed out because Verizon doesn't have a gsm network for cellular use. Yet. Their LTE is deployed over gsm but it is data only.

I get 4g h+ where T-Mobile has upgraded their towers.

Verizon would have GSM settings grayed out because it is not applicable to their network at all. The phone would come carrier locked so if you pop a sim card in from say TMobile then the phone still wont work. However if you were to unlock the phone (currently illegal last I heard, might change in a year or so though) it should theoretically work on ATT and TMobile and other GSM networks, although you may or may not have to manually input APN settings to get the network data working. The stock Verizon ROM though may also not include drivers for activating those radios bands wither, IDK if that is something they would do or not. All the versions of this phone use the Snapdragon 800 chipset, which has built in radios that can hit basically any network's frequency in the world.

This is completely and I mean completely wrong! ALL VERIZON LTE PHONES ARE UNLOCKED...... Which is why they are called world phones because you can, travel the world with them switching SIM cards and still have Verizon. I personally have done this with gs4, note2, droid maxx, motox, and now the lgg2

Well at most only a small part of what I said is wrong so thanks for trying to correct me in in a very dickish way. Unfortunately you are also wrong, not all Verizon phones come unlocked from them.
digitaltrends.com said:
AT&T will let you unlock your device permanently, provided your contract has already expired. AT&T customers still on contract may unlock their devices up to five times per year (for international travel purposes), as long as they don’t owe any past-due amount on their accounts, and have been a customer for 60 days or more.
Verizon sells all iPhone 5s unlocked, meaning you could take your device over to AT&T or T-Mobile without having to unlock the device. But other devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S3, are locked by Verizon. However, like AT&T, customers in good standing can request to have their devices unlocked for international travel.
Sprint does not offer unlocked devices, but it will allow customers to unlock their devices for travel after three months with the carrier.

All verizon LTE devices are unlocked out the box... wasn't being a. .... despite your assumptions the gs3 is unlocked so is all their world phones. And I never said all their phones were unlocked I stated all lte devices which are world phones are unlocked out the box. I currently have every phone that has come out since the gs3 and all work on T-Mobile with no call to verizon. But I am not going to argue about it. My apologies to the op simply stating what I know is true...

Does my Verizon note 3 get att lte like it does on t mobile?

These new att plans have me intrigued. I know I put a T-Mobile sim in my Verizon note 3 I get lte. Is it the same for att? If I put their sim in my Verizon note 3 do I get lte as well?
Thanks to anyone who knows 100%
I'm no expert but I'd say no. Since att is gsm. And Verizon is cdma

I just had to chime in. I hate when people give this response. LOL
Most of the LTE phones on verizon are CDMA & GSM. I used an AT&T sim card in the Verizon Galaxy S4 and got HSPA+ speeds. got about 6 Mpbs up and 3.5 down.
NOTE: VERIZON PHONES DO HAVE SIM CARDS AND YOU CAN USE GSM SIM CARDS WITH THEM. THEY ARE CDMA & GSM.
NOW PLEASE PLEASE STOP GIVING ANSNWER LIKE ""I'm no expert but I'd say no. Since att is gsm. And Verizon is cdma """"""
I get 4g download speeds on my Verizon Galaxy note3 on tmobile. Has anyone With experience tried a Verizon note 3 with an att sim card?
Verizon 4G Phones are unlocked and SIM compatible with CDMA/GSM/LTE.
Most phones using Qualcomm chips will get HSPA+ and some will get LTE depending on the radio version. I've been able to get LTE on both the GS4 and G2 on AIO wireless
(ATT).
My 2 cents
Really ? youre gonna talk crap? He said would he get lte speed.. the answer is no. because atts lte bands arent the same as vzws. So chill it with the all caps. and not to mention your example of a s4 getting hspa+ speed (which is not LTE ) didnt validate what your answer to the OPs question anyway... There was no reason to bash what i said. seeing as how your post did nothing to help the OP at all. Neither of us knew 100% Need to learn a little respect. Cant we all just get along without it being a pissing contest??? Just trying to help here. Heres a link from some others that have already answered the question.

I think at&t uses a different frequency for 4g than tmobile. Google what frequency at&t uses for 4g and what 4g frequencies are supported on the Verizon Note 3.

Is the GSM radio unlocked?

Is the gsm radio in the note 3 for verizon unlocked or locked? I am on verizon right now and can buy a note 3 from my friend for $500 in box, but I want to leave for strait talk when my contract is up in november. Can the phone be unlocked to work on any gsm network I know it has international but verizon has been known to lock out specifically US carriers.
This Verizon note 3 is very well unlocked for gsm..I've used it on straight talk. ..h2o..and even flashed the phone to work on pageplus wireless network. .Only downside is the network icon..you only get H or H+...Btw am on At&t..they have better coverage. ..Now to get a 4G network icon you can go with T'mobile even on straight talk but coverage is just not as good as At&t. Also you can flash your this phone work on straight talk Verizon tower..Google. .

Can I use a Tmobile Note 4 on AT&T and vice versa and have it work with LTE?
In other words, is the Note 4 interchangeable with both Tmobile and AT&T LTE service?

Potentially, yes. You could do the reverse, so I can't see why it wouldn't work.

It's showing the same bands to it should work, no one will know until they actually test it. The Note 3 also had the same bands, but some anecdotal reports stated the reception was a bit worse and it didn't hang onto LTE as well. Nothing scientific, just users reporting this so make of it what you will. Personally my business can't take the chance of reception issues so I just bit the bullet and got the ATT version knowing I am saying goodbye to root. Once again this is unsubstantiated, it's just what I got from hours of looking at all the forum posts about using the Tmo Note 3 on ATT.
How about a Verizon Note 4 on AT&T? Verizon is charging almost $150 less for an off contract phone, however I have a mobile share plan with other AT&T phones on contract so I'd need to stay on AT&T if possible...
Is it possible to "unlock" (or whatever the term is) an AT&T phone to use with Tmobile?
I want to use AT&T mainly but when I'm traveling internationally, I want to be able to switch to Tmobile.

Yes you can and the term is "unlock". Just make sure the bands are compatible on your at&t phone with the Tmobile network.

I know you can use TMOBILE PHONES on ATT - I assume you can do the reverse -but I don't think you can run TMOBILE PHONES on Verizon - or Verizon PHones on TMOBILE - I say this because the roms created for Verizon were really never very compatible for Tmobile phones ( at least not for me on any of the roms I tried to flash - data didn't work - wifi didn't work - ) so I htink they have different kinds of radios - but I am not a developer so that is only a guess -
USE TMOBILE phone on ATT and you are fine

Yes - as long as you manually add the APNS - but keep in mind the ATT PHONE will have a locked bootloader and it will probably be a while until someone finds a way to root the ATT PHONE - I say this based on what happened with the Note3 and S5 - I assume the same will be the case for ATT NOte 4s
If somebody takes an AT&T phone to T-Mobile, it will get fully functional LTE (as they both use band 4 aws). However, T-Mobile has built most of its 3G network on Band 4 UMTS / HSPA (AWS 1700/2100) which AT&T phones to not support. This coverage footprint is bigger than their current LTE network. The AT&T phone will get Band 2 (1900) UMTS / HSPA in the areas T-Mobile has refarmed.
A T-Mobile phone is fully compatible with AT&T. All T-Mobile phones support bands 2 and 5 for 3G (H+). T-Mobile phones also support AT&T's Band 17 for roaming reasons.
Be advised that if your using a T-Mobile device on AT&T (preferably an LTE device) it may not get the best reception, as AT&T optimizes their modems for their lower frequencies. Last year my T-Mobile Note 3 LTE reception was awful on AT&T. The T-Mobile S5 on AT&T was improved, but not as good as AT&T's own S5's reception.

I am pretty sure I know the answer to this - but if the ATT modem is better for att users - if someone does have a TOMBILE PHONE - why is that we can't flash an ATT Modem on the TOMBILE Phone?
I realize there is a chance of 'brcking" but if the phones are so close to each other anyway - why can't you flash an ATT Modem on a TMOBILE phone? Anyone?.

I'm not sure. But a few years ago there was a guy from Canada using a Rogers device ( I think the S3?) anyway AT&T had just released an update for their S3 and it drastically improved signal strength and data speeds. He took it upon himself to flash only the modem from CWM. The phone rebooted and he had no IMEI number. Therefore his phone couldn't even connect to the network. I'm not sure how or if he resolved it. But that lesson right there made me never flash any carrier's modem on my device.

That would keep me away too - but it's too bad - as much a like as the variants are - it is too bad they are not more interchangeable
