You need an unlocked bootloader and a kernel with O/C support

You cant use the latest update on your r800x, its for GSM phones
Yeah, shame on verizon. R8oox is locked amd abused by verizon
You can still unlock bootloader though

thanks for your reply .will it ever be overclock on R800x Root
Erm... of course you can unlock the Verizon bootloader. Here you have the reference thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201725
So we can't overclock without a unlocked bootloader?
I have a r800i on 2.3.3 but its simlocked so its just rooted at the moment :/

Maybe someone can make O/C module for stock kernel, Then all you need is root to push the module. Ask doomlord, blagus or binary. they may be able to help
Unlocking the bootloader really is the best thing I have done to my Play, it opens up soooo many new options, custom roms, kernals, overclock, recovery etc!
My Play is running at 1.5ghz, it is so fast now! I did have it running at 1.7ghz but didn't want to over do it!

Loading the CDMA CM7 will allow the R800x model to overclock, but you lose the xplay launcher and verizon market. It's still a little buggy atm as well.

Help to obtain Xperia Arc S firmware

If someone can tell me if it´s there a posibility to change my arc so the Emma recognises it as an LT18, maybe i can download the lt18 firmware.
Thanks
i think it would be the same firm, cause are the same specs only that have a 1.4 procesor, i don't see new features only for the S
It will probaly just be a standard 2.3.4 or whatever it is and we will get that in oct anyways

New owner of an Xperia Arc, previously a HTC Desire user

Hey guys,
I have very recently become the owner of an Xperia Arc obtaining the device as a replacement through my o2 insurance policy for my previous HTC Desire which suffered liquid damage
At present I am relatively happy with my Arc stock however I would love to hear from other users who have flashed roms on their Arc and hear if it is really all that beneficial.
With my old Desire it was a must thing to root it etc because I was stuck running only Froyo and suffered from low internal memory storage.
I look forward to hearing some feedback from you other Arc owners out there!
Regards, DJM.

Hi,
welcome to the club
For me, I really like SE UI, and it looks very stylish, at least for me.
I got only root, and I don't want to unlock BL since it's not needed for me. Now waiting for OTA, to still remain rooted.
And keep it updated new firmware rolled out

Thanks mate
Yeah I love the SE UI, I don't have a lot of interest in flashing MIUI. Tried it before on my HTC Desire and it just wasn't for me! If I was to unlock my bootloader it would be to flash tweaked roms which are SE based.
What do you get out of rooting the Arc? The usual overclocking etc?
No chance to overclock as kernel doesnt support it. just underclock and change governors. I am also just rooted with a locked bootloader. However im waiting to receive the new firmware update as I am o2 uk firmware. I am wary of unlocking the bootloader as of the 0% battery issue which has scared me to be honest

What are your talking about?
He needs to unlock the bl and then he can flash kernels with oc up to 2GHz.

I'm with o2 UK also! I feel the same way as you, the 0% battery issue has scared me as well.
What benefits has rooting your device given you?
I assume you are referring to the 2.3.4 firmware update? I'm really excited at the prospect of getting Ice Cream Sandwich which has been announced to be coming to the Arc

I am also still running the .369 firmware, looking forward to getting the new version!
I rooted my Arc last night and removed the bloatware apps, noticed a small difference in performance but nothing major which I'm sure is expected.
P.S. I totally stole your signature's Xperia Arc image and used it in mine to replace my old HTC Desire one
**Edit** 2.3.4 just became available to me via Companion! (4.0.2.A.042)
Presume you rooted using the new zurg method?.. if you want to over clock at any point then you will need to unlock the Bootloader to do it.. the 0% battery issue only came about through people trying to flash old SE ROMs, root with gingerbreak, then OTA upgrade to the latest version...
NOTHING to do with bootloader unlocking.. and actually not a problem now that we have the new Zergrush root method. HERE

Just got my Arc running SuperCharger V6

New User: Overview Appreciated

Hi all, finally sent of my Mrs's faulty San Francisco and they've offered her a xperia arc as a replacement, which I jumped at after looking at the specs.
Having recently got and being busy with my transformer prime i Just wondered if anyone could give me a nice little round-up of the phone being a late user and how to get the best out if it?
Cheers
Unlocking your bootloader is easy if it's not carrier branded, and thereafter, root is very easy too.
Root without unlocking the bootloader can be done with ZergRush exploit.
We have some Tweaked stock, CM7, official ICS Alpha and MIUI ROMS. There are also various mods and tweaks for stock ROM available.
Arconium 5.6 + DooMKernel V15/16 is a great ROM amd kernel combo
