Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Streetview > Clear Data
Hold down Menu when powering on goes into safe mode
THIS WAS POSTED ELSEWHERE AND IS VERY IMPORTANT IF YOUR PHONE CRASHES.
Awesome list
getting rid of icons on your home screen
Here's a cool one I just learned. Hold and press the icon you want to get rid of. you'll feel a short vibrate. after the vibration you can move the icon around or delete it by dragging it to the little gray trashcan that appears at the bottom of the page. This won't delete the program, just the icon.
Great tips! Where do you get this information? I would like to
access even more information.
Also, how do you shut down particular programs running in the
background? Thanks.

The easiest way is to:
1. On home screen press and hold
2. when the menu pops up select "shortcur"
3. select the first option "folder"
4. done.
To rename the folder (only cause I didn't understand the first post):
1. open the folder
2. press and hold the top bar of the open folder, otherwise known as the 'dock'
3. type in name and change it.
4. Done.
the ringtone tip doesnt work
or what format do they have to be in?
ive only tried MP3

Create a folder on your memory card names 'ringtones' and place your .mp3's in there.
First, unplug your phone from the USB port, then edit a contact. You should see your new ringtones in the list.
Save pictures from messages?
This possible? I can't figure it out?

I guess I should say that I am trying to change the name of the shortcut icon, not a folder- wasnt really thinking it mattered but it must
Only folders can be renamed

I don't think there is a way to change the name of a shortcut once it's made. Also I think only Any Cut gives you a choice about the name at all.

Download anycut and you can rename any app shortcut as well.
While using the web browser, double tap the trackball rapidly to zoom out with a magnified area. Press again to zoom into that area
music?
When doing the ringtones memory card trick, will the ringtones stay out of the music list? For example
, in the music player app... I am hoping that ringtones will stay out of the music app. Can anyone confirm or deny?

How To: Remap Home and Back Keys to Open Applications

Hey, if youre running a custom ROM, and want to use the on-screen buttons, having your capacitive buttons still functioning the same can be pretty redundant, so I came up with a way to remap them to open any app that you choose. All that is required is Tasker and root access.
First off, what you need: Tasker, Root, and a text-editing program
Get your keylayout file. There are multiple ways to do this, but since all phones use different names for them, its best to just open up an app like Root Explorer and move to the file itself, and then copy and paste it. The files name is synaptics-rmi-touchscreen.kl, so if youd prefer to adb pull it, its located inside the /system/usr/keylayout folder.
Edit your button IDs. After getting your .kl file, open it with a regular text editor, and find the keys that you want to change. For mine, I used the home and back keys. Locate where they are; it wont be hard as the keys have their actions next to them, and change one key to CAMERA, and the other the SEARCH.
Map button actions in Tasker. Finally, open Tasker (turn off Beginners view in settings), and hit New > Event > Hardware > and then your button of choice. You can either select the Camera button first, or the Search button. Inside the Event screen, set the priority to Highest, and if youre editing the Camera button, check the Stop Event button. Create a new task in the profile for your button, and create a new action. After, click App > Load app, and then select which application you would like to launch on that button. Do the same thing for the Search button, but you have to long press the search button to access it, as regularly clicking it will open Google Now.
Hope this helps anyone with hardware keys that wanted to switch over to the nav buttons.

Home Button Screen Wake Function

Hey guys.. might be a newb question but I just came from the HTC world after several years of modding and this is my very first Samsung.
I have tried two ROMs and really like one of them. The only thing stopping from me completely abandoning my stock ROM is I really like how pushing the home button brings my phone to the lock screen. I have a brand new trident case and the power button is a little stiff so its easier to have that function available. I am on the AT&T MF3 firmware using Graviton ROM.
Can anyone tell me how to make this work??

I tried this ROM before and if I remember correctly there should be an option in Settings -> My Device -> Display. It sounded like enabling the option turned off the home wake, and it was already disabled which was confusing. But enabling the option and then disabling it seemed to work.
I have NOT tried gravitron rom so I don't know how it is configured. But I found this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263253 that talks about How To turn OFF the hone button wake. So it should be easy to CHECK your keylayout and see IF it is set up like below. If it is I would venture to say you will just edit the keylayout file FROM "172 Home" back to "172 Home Wake". Just follow the directions from below BUT reverse what it says.
How To DISABLE Home Wake
1) Open Root Explorer
2) Navigate to: /system/usr/keylayout/
3) Press 'Mount R/W'
4) Long hold 'gpio-keys.kl' and choose "Open in Text Editor"
5) Remove "WAKE" from the line "172 HOME WAKE"
6) Back out, Save, Reboot
How to Re-enable Home Wake
1) Open root explorer
2) Navigate to /system/use/keylayout/
3) Press Mount RW
4) Long hold "gpio-keys.kl" and choose "Open in text editor"
5) ADD "WAKE" to line "172 HOME" (SO IT READS 172 HOME WAKE)
6) Back out, save, reboot phone

Tasker not needed, You can do this under settings menu:

Do you guys think you could do something similar to wake the device up?
For example long press home or back, while the screen is off, to wake it?

How to exchange the function of left&right key?

left key = go back
right key = menu
system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Open Generic.kl in a text editor.
Scroll down to find key 139, to the right it should say MENU. Change it to BACK. Scroll down further to key 158...should say BACK. Change it to MENU.
you've now swapped functions. Save the file. Reboot. Success.
Edit: Forgot to mention you obviously need to be rooted to do this. Also, MENU and BACK need to stay capitalized.

Seems easy for me. I will try it later. Thanks.
Get Xposed Framework and then get Xposed Additions module. You can edit any button functions. I have the menu button set to be task switcher on first press and menu on long press.
