Yahoo email "authentication failed" - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 2 yahoo accounts, I use the stock email app because I have comcast and work email that utilize that app as well. One of my yahoo accounts worked fine, no issues setting it up, the other I am getting an "authentication failed" message. Anyone else get that? Any thoughts as to how to resolve it?
Thanks

You can go yahoo support center. or again send authentication mail.. And please tell me, did you set up recovery mail when you create account?

This is what I did when everything else failed.
Try to remove the sim in your current (faulty) phone and use a similar phone's SIM - if you have a friend whose emails are ALL correctly setup on his/her phone, ask to use his/her SIM. Make sure other phone (and SIM) have successfully setup all emails. Power down the 2 phones, use the good SIM to setup email on your (faulty) phone. Then change back the sim and you should be good.....

Email Asks For Incoming Mail L/P and Domain All Of A Sudden

My e-mail has ceased to work. It's configured via T-Mobile's website and I can download the settings right to my phone. When it tried to send/receive now it prompts me with Incoming E-Mail Password screen which also has a box for domain. The thing is the password is already entered in there and even if I select OK it just keeps asking for it. Any ideas?
No idea what's happening but mine started the same nonsense about 2 weeks ago. I just reconfigured the email to pull off my gmail account and it works fine but pulling from the tmobile site doesnt - go figure.
Unfortunately, I don't use Gmail nor do I want to. I tried deleting the accounts and re-instating them, but it's still doing the same thing. Can someone else advise? Thanks!
Weird. When I got home it worked. Perhaps, TMO's server was down.

Gmail no working! Please help!

Not sure what ROM version or anything, but I'm using wm6.1 on my Mogul
All I know is that I had my phone replaced recently, as my old one was getting pretty beat up. I finally got the phone up to par with my old one in terms of setup except for e-mails. So I go to setup my Gmail account on the phone, and no matter what I try, I keep getting an error message about loging into the server, how I have the wrong login name or password. How is this possible? What am I doing wrong?
I've tried using the automatic setup (worked on the last phone), manual setup with POP3 and IMAP, even using a new password for Gmail. Nothing works at all. Please help!

Problem setting up pop3 Email

I convinced the Mrs to get get a wildfire (nice!) but having set up pop3 exactly like i set up on my Hero it says the password/username is incorrect, even tho the password or username is fine!
anyone else had this problem?
i checked to see if all the set up options were the same as my hero and they match perfectly.............any ideas?
the only thing anomalous is the sim card isnt working yet as her number ports today, but connection is fine over wifi
Don't know if this will help, but I set mine up to my yahoo email account using IMAP without any issues.
Update
Ok I now know its not a fault specific to the wildfire, I've tried setting up her email on my hero, with the same result. I've also used my pc to log on using her password and username with no problem at all..........weird!
As I said previously my own pop 3 sets up fine and is also with the same provider, yahoo in this instance, the only thing I can guess at is wether there is a user name length issue? Hers is only 12 letters long tho?
Will try imap and let you know, thanks for the suggestion or try the yahoo app.
Update
installed the yahoo email app from the market and the email comes thru fine with the mrs password etc.....wtf?!!! now i just want to get the HTC email app to work.......really dont get why this not connecting
weirder still!
just got my old diamond working and using the htc email app set up the mrs email account with no problem......
oh also works on my old Xda exec.........................
Hi,
are u setting it up manually or automatic. Because when i put my hotmail account in its working fine automatic. Manually i have no idea.
Also exchange and of course gmail works great on this phone!
Thanks for looking in I've tried to set up both ways even comparing with the settings on my hero, strangely all looks fine!
And as I said her settings work on every device I've tried except sense on android.
ANy solutions yet... ?? it tells me authentication failed..incorrect username/password .. i m setting up my gmail account .. not working for imap and pop both
Possible temporary solution
I bought this phone yesterday for my younger brother and since then its.. f***ing my mind out how to setup his email...
Well after trying all bull**** and even going on email settings tweaking it several times could not get the mails on Wildfire...Also the problem is not with username or password length coz tried to change that too..
For some reason though my account could be setup in a fly on his cell.. but for his own account i had to find a temporary solution
Tap Email setup >> type ur username and password and click manual setup>> Then in the first drop down menu Select POP instead of IMAP >> in the pop server box type pop.gmail.com>>Click on next and finish the process...
Note: For my account IMAP setup was done pretty quickly so it seems to be error from GMAIL server side i have mailed them to look into the matter and resolve the bugs if any.
Works fine for me both POP3 and IMAP.
I am thinking of switching to K9 mail though.

Password Length
In case anyone comes across this thread as I did looking for an answer to this question:
The length of your Hotmail Password was the culprit for my login success. I had a 17 character password and kept getting "Authentication Failed..." I then tried shortening it to 10 characters and it worked like a charm.
I hope this is the solution to a problem many others have been reporting.
this works for me. thanks heaps!

First off thank you for the prompt reply. I tried that website but everytime I time I try and have it send me a password reset email it doesn't pop up in my gmail. Also even more confusing is that it won't let me set up a new account. It keeps saying server error..
Any ideas? The fact that I can't get past this one screen is REALLY frustrating lol
I had a heck of a time setting up my wifes. Just kept trying and it finally went through.
Thanks all I got it working. It was my old motoblur account. For some reason I couldn't use it, and I couldn't set up a new account under the same email account either. They also wouldn't send the email to reset the password either..
So I just created a new account with a new email and it synced just fine

Strange problem setting up SMTP mail account

Hi guys I have a really strange problem setting up a SMTP mail account on my wifes phone.. It is a bit difficult to explain because I'm dutch and my phone language is dutch too of course..
My wife and I both have a Galaxy s2. I tried to set up our mail account from home (versatel) on our phones. With the Premium account (POP/IMAP) setting both phones worked oke with the mail account. But then when deleting a message form the phone, the message gets deleted from the server too and we dont want that.
So I went to my phone and set up the mail account via manual settings (in stead of premium and just click next). I left the incoming settings alone. (pop.versatel.nl, no verification, port 110) And changed the outgoing setting so the correspondent with the settings on our PC. (smtp.versatel.nl, no verification, port 25)
Now comes the strange thing! This works on my phone. On my wifes phone however it keeps saying our server doesnt support verification. As said I already have this checked of tough.... I already tried deleting the account en resetting. Didnt work. Also tried check verification on and off again. Also didnt work. Any suggestions?
I have the same issue, is there any solution to this?
Follow your email providers instructions IMAP not POP .
Check the ISP ?Network that the mail is sent through they may have port restrictions to prevent spam .
