Its doesnt matter as long as its an official rom, just know that once go to kikat theres no way to go back to jelly bean, u should look for the steps to flash the rom, it pretty simple.

Don't update. the KitKat version has a lot of problems!
For one, the SD Card read/write problem.
Second, for me, I have a problem with device heating while gaming and doing some intense things on KitKat.

Sometimes it is possible to downgrade, but for sure my friend, then u won't have wifi and/or sound
tapatalked by an Echoenian on old b/l without knox
What if he installs a custom 4.3 rom?
Would that work? can he install the custom rom in recovery? or that would brick the phone because of the new bootloader?

downgrade always possible but there are problems
example
sound, calls
can be fixed using a custom kernel, mods, etc.
but this did not benefit
why necessary ? 4.4.2 is better
question is downgrade and reset Knox
it is
everything else is nothing
confirmed for I9500 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2686882

Hi,
It depends in what bootloader you have , Odin will not allow you to downgrade to a lower bootloader that the one you have ( stock rom)

That is because you have a newer bootloader......nothing you can do about it , sorry mate
just curious, when it's said that you can't downgrade the bootloader...presumably it means when downgrading to a lower version of android? because i tested the latest ngf1 firmware and updated bootloader and have since returned to fnb8 and phone info is now showing fnb8 bootloader again.
I wonder how each day has someone to open a new thread and ask this question
Discussed a thousand times, and most illiterate person knows that this is impossible, but there are still people who have not understood
xda has its own search

For : GT-I9500
Yes it is possible/
Just Download this firmware and flash it via odin: I9500XXUBMH1_I9500OJVBMH2_I9500XXUBMG9_HOME.tar.md5
http://d-h.st/4bG
I tested it myself and worked fine.

to be fair, the search feature is pretty lousy :\
number of times i've wanted to find something on xda, use the forums' search function and it basically displays EVERY thread in the forum. It doesn't do a great job of actually narrowing down what you're looking for. But what I tend to do now is just use google and type XDA at the beginning of my search. e.g. these are the result for "philz recovery" in the search feature http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=288653448
now do the same in google https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BsS6U8CcJ67Y8gfQjYDoBQ&gws_rd=ssl#q=xda+philz+recovery+9505
it's the first result and takes you right to the thread.
the forum search leaves a lot to be desired, so I kinda get why people struggle finding thing on here :s

Hi ,
Knox is trip so i guess you do not flash the "knox free bootloader" from 4.2.2 so in practice you only flash a modify stock rom......
You can remove KNOX with the removal script.

Search sammobile for you're last 4.3 rom.

Its safe when you follow the guide.
You can get a softbrick, do a full wipe when you finished flashing, than your phone wil start.
Notice that after flashing it can take up some time before it boots.
