S Health Widget - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having issues with the s health widget? I have it on one of my home screens but when you click on the pedometer or the heart rate monitor neither will open. Occasionally they will work but is probably like 10% of the time.

You can choose another widget from Google play store "Battery Health Bar Widget"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tweber.batterylife.widget

Uhhh, this has nothing to do with my question. Thanks though. The issues I described is relating to the s health widget and has nothing to do with my battery

I have the same issue. Haven't found a solution yet other than opening the app from the drawer.

No solution yet. I'm surprised more people aren't complaining about this.

Just installed an update & it seems to be working much more consistently

Bugs? Empty Market & Application Manager + CNN Widget Slowdown

A couple of things happened last night. Anyone else experience these?
I went into the market and was presented with a grid of 16 apps, and that's it. I can click on the apps and install them, but searching revealed no more apps nor could I get to the main app market home page or menu.
I attempted to close the market app under settings, applications, manage applications, running services.
The problem? It was empty too. So was the list of installed applications. According to Android, I had nothing installed.
Rebooting fixed this issue, but I don't know what caused it.
Second interesting thing. One of the first apps I installed was the CNN app with the widget. I thought it was a pretty neat widget to have on the home screen. Over the next few days I noticed lag. Keyboard lag, browser lag, app drawer, etc. Just about everywhere. Last night I removed the CNN widget and guess what, lag vanished. I don't know if it's the widget or just a coincidence but thought I would share.

I have had some weirdness with the CNN widget. For no apparent reason, it would disappear from my screen but would really still be there, just invisible because I could not add another widget in that spot. Rebooting corrected it the few times it has happened. I noticed they released an update today (or yesterday) so I installed it and hopefully that will take care of it.
Same problem here. I even tried to remove the invisible CNN widget but couldn't. Restarting the Xoom seems to fix it but hate to keep doing that all the time it disappears on me. Needs to be fixed soon

Unwanted spam messages appears on my phone

So I'm on MIui and for the past 4 weeks I've been receiving approx 1 "spam" message a week which appears in the header of my screen.
It's a little bit annoying, and obviously, I'd like to get rid of them given a choice.
I've attached a screenshot showing the issue.
Is there any advice on how I can stop this spam message being received in the future please?
A cursory google search and an xda search has revealed no obvious answers
Thanks in advance
Looks like you have downloaded an app with airpush advertising, at least I think its called airpush anyway.
There is an app you can download that will tell you which app is the culprit or alternatively there is an opt out app that you can download.
I had the same problem after downloading a youtube downloader so I know how annoying it is
I'll check it up and get back to you.
thanks
appreciate you taking the time.
It's annoying!
http://newbwired.com/2011/06/10/removing-airpush-from-your-android-device/
seems to have solved it for me - a beautiful widgets addon seems to have possibly caused the problem? I say uninstall to that, see what the impact will be over the next week.
Thanks ponk2k for giving me the spark I needed to potentially solve this case.
Yep, it is airpush. You can get either airpush detector or add-on detector in the market which will show you which app is causing the notification bar spam aand give you the option of deleting it or else google airpush opt out to keep the app but rid yourself of the ads
I expect you've already found it, but I used this app to find the culprit when I had airpush problems:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector
The Airpush Opt Out app doesn't seem to be available any more.
Dont forget guys that MIUI builds adds into the roms so it may not be just an app.

[Q] How do I turn off Google maps prefetcher?

It seems like Google maps is always running on my S4. I turned off the location service, but there is still something open called prefetcher service. I've been trying to find the setting in the menu to turn it off but I can't find it. Anyone know how to fix this?
Can you post a screenshot of where you see this prefetch information from? I'll try to help you.

You can Google "Caching and offline reliability - Maps Help - Google Help" and find this cached.
If your phone's battery level is near-full and you're connected to a WiFi network, Google Maps will passively prefetch map and road data near to your current location. If you lose access to a mobile data connection, you can still get directions and view locations if the area in question has been cached on your phone.

You can supposedly disable prefetch if you are on 3G as well. I have not found this "live" though as that thread is no longer visible from the support page, so maybe this is no longer true.
I charged to full 6 hours ago and under running service the prefetcher is shown running for 5 hours. I was on 3G the whole time, location service disabled.
The only solution off the top of my head is to freeze maps until you need to use it, with App Quarantine or Titanium.
Or use greenify which doesn't allow the app to run in the background.
All you need to be able to modulate system apps is exposed framework apk found in the apps and themes section.
This is a better solution than freezing with titanium as you can still use the app at any time. It just won't run in background.

Original stock CLOCK WIDGET apk for stock rooted lock screen [can't find ANYWHERE]

Searched all xda, also did a google search, only found deodexed on a google drive server and that one wouldn't install
I need a STOCK clock widget for G2. Uninstalled it via titanium without making a back up but now that I have a nasty plus sign and "add widgets here] on my lock screen I want it back
Tried some other widgets, but weather, soundhound, and nextradio look nasty on the lock screen
[and yes, I searched, closest thing I found was our clock widget modified for l9 and that didn't work either]

Colors changing in game

When i'm on the normal screen i have the color right.
When i launch a game, the colors change and are way more saturate.
Nobody have this?
Check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/help/highly-saturated-lagging-playing-games-t3330344
Someone mentioned it to be related to GameService there, if you disable it it's gone (but I'm not sure what features of the game launcher and tool will be gone with it). I guess it's meant as a feature to make games look more vibrant.
thx but apparently is not the case... it continues even if gameservice is gone.
I can confirm Package Disabler -> GameService fixes the problem.
Samsung screwed up. I tried Force Stop of the service and Modify system settings disabling from the Applications settings screen, but neither worked.
Here's a fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=65741380
I read through the linked thread as well as the e other linked threads from that thread and all the other threads LOL but still don't see a solution to the screen Dimming and color shift without having to use package Disabler.
In one of the threads someone said that a software update from Verizon fixed it but I have the most recent update from Verizon and still have this problem.
So the question is has anyone figured out a way to stop this behavior without having to use package disabler?
