[Q] Forum rename suggestion - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can we please get these "Android Wear" forums renamed to "Android Wear Watch" instead? Most of the posts now are about anything but the watch.

[GREAT INFO] Searching Within XDA-Developers!!!

I have seen countless posts in response to a question that has been asked before to SEARCH BEFORE YOU POST!
BUT… Maybe some people are unsure about how to effectively search within a forum, or using the GOOGLE super search interwebz machine! I propose that we collectively share some great info and how-to’s on effective searching! I will update the OP periodically as additional info comes along.
There was only a short bit of info on searching these forums in the “How to use these forums-Please read thread” so why not some more?!
We all know that searching within a forum can be pretty much useless if done incorrectly, so here we go!
BASIC SEARCH TIPS –
- When performing a search – DO NOT just use the basic SEARCH THIS FORUM function! (SEE search1.jpg) This is pretty much useless and will give you a millions billions irrelevant results.
- ADVANCED SEARCH is your best friend – I find this is the best jumping off point for a search on XDA. Simply click ADVANCED SEARCH, your keyword(s), and choose SEARCH TITLES ONLY. This will filter out a TON of irrelevant info, and get right to the point! I used “setcpu” as an example. After this search, only threads WITH “setcpu” in the title will be shown. (SEE search2.jpg)
-GOOGLE is also a great way to search within XDA – Many people prefer to use GOOGLE to search within XDA anyway! Most of the time, you can just type “XDA keyword(s)” and you will likely return your desired results. Try typing “XDA root evo” and see what happens!
You can also perform a site specific search with the :site search function - ex) evo root site:forum.xda-developers.com
(submitted by kamiller42)
-Performing a search within a thread is a great tool as well! Let's say you have just flashed a new ROM, but may be uncertain if a certain kernel is compatible.(See search3.jpg) EX) Just flashed Myn's Warm TPT, and want to see info on Netarchy's kernels for this ROM. When in the ROM thread click "Search Thread" and simply type your keyword (I used netarchy). Now every post that contains "netarchy" within the thread is shown. AWESOME!
Hope this helps a few, and if you have some good search tips POST EM!
.... what he said....
If you are using Google, you can narrow the search to a specific site.
Ex: "evo root site:forum.xda-developers.com"

Congrats on your unicode success
Having troubles Searching XDA from within Dolphin HD, on both my EVO and my Galaxy Tab.
When I press Search it brings up the text box, then when I click within it to type the box disappears and it throws my screen outta whack (zooms in a little).
Does it every time on the XDA webpage but other pages seem to be working fine.
This a Flash thing? It's up to date, AFAIK.
Hopefully just a clickable thingamabob that isn't clicked but I'm having no luck.
Thanks.

Android Market Shows No Paid Apps Anywhere

Please ignore this thread. Noticed that others are having this issue as well. Should have used search instead of just looking at threat titles

[Q] Remove nagging prompt dialogs for restart and shutdown S5 Active

Is there a way to disable the annoying dialogs asking for confirmation to shutdown or restart?
Bump
Similar nags for the regular S5 are addressed in various xposed modules and custom ROMs. But the S5 Active is a niche device and there are relatively few of them out there. Meaning that anything unique to the Active model is esoteric and going to show up on the radar of a lot less people.
Your best bet is to do an exhaustive search to see if anyone has tackled this yet. In the alternative, you could try to change it yourself. It's likely a simple edit to disable the nag. But it might take a bit of effort to locate where the nag message resides.
Start with this thread, which shows how other S5 nags have been removed. If you can't find your specific nag here, that thread would still serve as a template to locate it yourself. It would almost certainly be in the system.ui apk, so you would need to decompile that with apktool and search for strings similar to the examples there.

[Q] New Forrum Format Question

Two issues/questions with regard to the new web format:
1. I'm subscribed to both some forums and threads. In the past, if one of my forums (e.g. "Galaxy S 5 Themes and Apps") it would show up in my control panel has unread even if none of the threads had unread posts. Now, the threads no longer show up unless I have at least unread post. Is there a setting to rectify that?
2. Some of the "AT&T specific GS5 forums seem to have disappeared. The only one I see now is "AT&T Galaxy S5 Android Development". What happened to the AT&T GS5 threads for themes/apps, Q&A, etc.?
Thanks.
Ps: Please excuse my fat-fingered misspelling of "forum" in the thread title.

My screen died

So my display died today. I wasn't able to backup my stuff before so I would like to somehow recover it.
The touch functions still seem to work as I can activate gesture based functions like the flashlight and start stop music.
The phone was rooted, running stock OxygenOS, and USB Debugging enabled. Any way I can perhaps use some program to access the screen from a PC?
Also, can someone post a screenshot of the MTP selection menu (the one that pops up when you plug it into a PC).

1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting or creating a new thread. Whether you have a question or just something new to share, it's very likely that someone has already asked that question or shared that news.

5. Create a thread topic or post a message only once, this includes external links & streaming media.

You can bump your unanswered question once every 24 hours
Duplicate threads and posts will be removed
