G900F - Voice HD - AMR-wb - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys!
I've been looking around for this but I can't get a clue on it.
Is there anyway to confirm if amr-wb is on? My csc has the flags and the operator supports it, but I can't be sure if it's working.
On previous phones (like the S4) the service menu *#0011#* works but on the S5, after inserting the number 1 it takes takes me nowhere.
Thanks for your tips!

I too am interested. Any ideas?

Hi!
I think that it works well on three uk, check it using *#0011# you should see AMR-WB xx.xKb/s. Usualy it only shows up when on hsdpa (H+ network).
Say something!

I'm with Three UK and when i use that code (Service Mode) i see no mention of AMR-WB. Speech version is showing as FR FR FR and occasionally below that it shows AMR Undef but it keeps appearing and disappearing. I've been trying to figure out for ages about the HD Voice as when i call my friend who also has a S5 and is with Three, it definately doesn't sound like HD voice quality like it did on my S3.

Today I found this (here in Portugal)

But I'm flying to the UK today and I'll check that on 3.

Did you check your phone when in the UK?

Right now I'm the UK and both me and my wife have AMR-WB in 3 network...
I'm having exactly the same problem in Portugal with Vodafone... A friend have HD Voice and I don't have... It's somehow related to the SIM Card, or network profile I guess...

When you call your wife does it display a HD symbol on the screen to indicate HD voice?

No, it doesn't... I never saw that symbol even on other phones... But I can tell you that we can ear the difference on the conversation.

Cheers. Maybe it's just me then but it certainly doesn't sound HD voice when im calling and if it is then its nowhere near as good as it was on the S3. Reason i asked about the HD symbol is when i was googling i came across a few reports of t-mobile users who stated that when they were using HD voice, there was a HD symbol on the screen indicating it was on. If this is true it would seem strange that it shows for some networks and not others.

how many video calls have you made (orange m5000) 3g

Since I got my m5000 almost a month ago I have only made 2 video calls, with orange when you get your m5000 you get some free video calls for the first three months, ... don't know that many people with a 3g phone.
How about you, have you made many video calls?

How do I make a copy of the ROM from my SVP M5000?
What's your experience like? What's the frame rate/quality? How expensive is it to use?
I don't know, since I'm in the USA and will never get to use that feature here on my Qtek 9000.
Cingular just launched 3G, but it's on the 1900MHz band.
I have used it twice! Just to see if it works and the framrate isn't too bad for such a little device.
With T-Mobile you get 30mins for free too!
Only problem is that you either see the person you are speaking to or yourself but not both.
And they charge 15p per minute to T-mobile users and 50p to other networks.

On my O2 Exec you can see both parties on the video call, kinda necessary really so u can be sure the other party sees u not the ceiling. Take a look at your setting. Not only both but you can choose the size of both incoming and outgoing images.
Hope this helps
0 calls, but I think I tested it once for work on VJBigPhone.

Yeah both me and my colleague played around with the settings but still no joy!
I shall try again - not that I will ever use it in the real world.

I have an Ericsson v800 for 10 months now, on which I never tried. Tried it once on my Qtek 9000 to see if it works. It does, ...............with two screens.

I had one like this, mine was the QuickGPS needed updating. Check if you have anything that needs an update.
Sorry to sidetrack the threak... what theme is that one? It looks really good.
It's the roaming symbol
I installed this Icon set as well, as far as I can tell it is the symbol used to show you are roaming, ie travelling abroad.
Best regards
Ed.
What the name of this icon set?
and because your provider is telfort, you will always be roaming. telfort uses the kpn network, that is why the yellow icon is always there

That exactly it, when I first got my HD on telfort I was worried that I get overcharged for the roaming cost so I called telfort customer service. They told me that is normal since they operate over the KPN line and I should set my phone to KPN to remove it, but somehow it won't stick. I don't really mind the extra icons, but everytime I get on the weather tab it would ask me if I want to used it even if I'm roaming, might as well set it up as allways when roaming.

Toggle 3g/2g

Hey guys,
I have been looking several days for an option to toggle 3g <-> 2g but it simply isn't there where it supposed to be.
After discovering this article I'm wondering why this feature is missing in all wp7 samsung devices.
I really miss this option because I get at home barely 1 bar on 3g and thats not very good for the battery.
I thought that OEMs aren't allowed to customize the os on this level but why is this option not visible ?
Regards
I always thought that this option has been disabled by my provider because "3" doesn't have 2G at all. All GSM data is transferred via Roaming with A1 mobilkom.
Don't know, I've realised that my Omnia7 doesn't have this option but I don't miss it though.
worth a ponder

My boyfriend's Trophy has the 3g toggle located in settings. He's using vodafone. My omnia however is missing the feature. HTC vs samsung or carrier difference?
According to Orange it is missing on all Omnia 7s as it's missing from the Samsung software.
Thanks for your answers but nevertheless I'd like to hear why samsung did exclude this feature on their wp7 phones because I couldn't barely find any information about it on the internet.
It's incomprehensible and there we see that samsung failed once again with "their" software. Toggle 2g is an option that I really won't miss specially in areas where I have bad signal. I'm going to contact samsung to see what they say about it.
Regards

Would be interesting to know, but don't get your hopes high...I cannot remember any time Samsung answered a support question for me
My Omnia 7 has this setting. I have a 16 GB device from T-Mobile Germany running on o2.
My Omnia 7 also has this setting (Optus stock [unlocked] 8GB version).
Settings > Mobile Network
What I LOVE about these settings is that whenever my phone tries to access the internet and 3GB/Data is turned OFF, it won't force it on. Infact, unless you have Wi-Fi turned on, it will just say it's unable to access a data connection.
More than I can say for Windows Mobile, which always turned it on no matter what you told it to do.

Thanks, guys
So it's not Samsung's idea but, more likely, our provider's idea to cut this setting.

T-Mobile service menu access... (PLEASE LOOK AT PICTURES)

So i just found out from another thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11088696" that we can access the tabs service menu with the the following code (*#*#197328640#*#*). Now this is a LONG shot but here it goes, for all of those with more technical knowledge than myself, would it be possible to set the tab with Voice+3G using a T-Mobile sim through this menu or no? Just wondering but i am sure i will get bashed for this.
I tried that! The menu has the choices we want, but they don't do anything. I'm sorry you got nervous to post that idea! I wish it worked. Did you try it yet?

*#2263# gets you to the frequencies. Try it, but write down what you try, and what modem and carrier you have. Good Luck.

no luck...
just noticed something interesting:
this picture shows all the bands while on voice+edge using Roto's modem switch:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and this picture shows all the bands while only on 3g using Roto's modem switch:
now clearly while on 3g the is an extra band, WCDMA 1700(FDD IV) , and it does not show up while on Voice+edge does this mean anything? i wished someone with technical knowledge regarding this would chime in....
sorry for the way the pictures are layed out.
Well that confirms what we all have experienced. The modem in use that allows voice calls to be made does not have theT-Mobile 3g Bands( Band IV/ AWS/1700). The original T-mobile modem does allow 3G access but does not allow voice. How we combine the two is the challenge.
