Seems to be even more entry level than the Moto G. They quote the price for the dual SIM + TV as R$599,00 - I'd expect it to retail for something like $119,00 / £89,00 / €129,00 SIM-free, unlocked.

Why would a more entry level phone cost more?

I'm going by Amazon prices here, but the cheapest G goes for $179 / £115 / €159,00. Obviously you can find it discounted, but this isn't what I'm talking about, I'm talking about standard prices.

Unlocked? Without contract?

It also looks like a Moto G LTE version is going to be released in the coming months as well. I would imagine the next version of the Moto G will have LTE as a standard feature. The costs of including multiple bands for LTE is coming down so it only makes sense.

I might get the LTE Moto G since the screen on my current G is cracked/scratched at the upper right. It's barely noticeable, but it's noticeable enough to annoy me. Quite a few people like my phone and it isn't available here (I don't think Digicel plans on carrying this phone and it's expensive as hell to import) so I can most likely sell it for some good cash once I get the LTE version.

I am so buying it just for the lte features xD

I want the moderator to ban me.

Really ?Why here is so expensive ?

Moto G Indian Thread [Pricing, Availability, Reviews, Support and More]

Hello,
This is a official Indian Moto G discussion thread. It is expected to be launched in early January 2014.
I will update the thread as we get more information.
Please keep this thread clean and use if for Moto G specific stuff only. Please avoid OT discussion.
I was thinking about getting this phone to replace my old and tired Galaxy Y.
I wonder what the price will be...

16 GB Moto G costs 199 $ in US i.e. Rs 12500 approx. So it will not be less than Rs 15000 here I'm planning to get one from US
Looking at the Nexus 5 pricing and as they will have to include headphones in the box as per Indian law, I think 16gb will cost around 18k. I hope Motorola prices it close to 15k.
Moto G 8GB is available for Rs.15,990 and 16GB for Rs.17,990 at eBay India including all taxes and import duties. It was imported from US.

But how about warranty? I doubt whether motorola will accept US phones for warranty in India.
Also, they have mentioned dual sim model. When will this be launched?

People who import products from US/UK often won't care about warranty which we won't surely get. But the seller who is selling US Moto G 8GB and 16GB on eBay India is saying he is giving one year warranty and 10 day replacement guarantee. ALWAYS enquire the seller before buying on eBay.
But at the moment its the cheapest option available instead of importing manually for who can't wait for the official launch of Moto G in India.
16 - 17K
Right now, Moto G costs 200USD [16GB version]
Convert that to INR = Around 12,000 Rs
+ Around 30% Tax = 16,500 - 17,000 Rs

Where did you get that 30% tax figure from?
It's 6%... and there are some other charges too. But OEMs import in bulk.. it is subsidized.
It'll effectively be around 10-15% tops
prices of smartphones in india are almost same as in UK, where 16gb versions costs about 16K (inr), so adding a charger+Dual Sim+Headphones may increase price upto 2K so i think 16-18K is a good guess for 16gb version in india. Also if they launch single sim version without charger and headphones, it would be a better option
If they do price it at 16-18K then I don't think its going to sell a lot. The Micromax canvas 4 is a good deal at around 16K. And there are a ton of other phones cheaper than that with better specs.
Altough the Moto G will get KitKat faster and will be the one supported by the community more.

Should be around 15k. Am looking forward for getting my hands on the 16gigs variant too as soon as it lands here. Hoping that Moto will be providing warranty here.

had Motorola not promised KitKat for Moto G, it wud be senseless to buy it over Canvas 4 or Canvas Turbo or other Sino-Indian phones.

nope.. 16.5k for single-SIM 16 GB, without charger & headphones.
Here's how I calculated-
Nexus 5 : Moto G
= $349 : $199
= Rs 28999 : Rs 16535
(come on! Congress won't lower the taxes)
And of course warranty will be there because it'll be "officially launched" like Nexus 5 (not like Nexus 4).
P.S.- I think, we would get more of dual-SIM ones (expectedly costing Rs 1.5k more) before single-SIM ones become readily available.
By then if Nexus 4 drops to 20k, it wud be a more sensible buy than Moto G.

but that was about ancient feature phones (non-android RAZR, ROKR, etc.)
Despite Qualcomm chipset & Gorilla Glass 3, Moto G is priced quite low, which means all other components are cheap and as bad as LG's.
So, in terms of durability Nexus 4 should be as good as Moto G.
Had Moto G been costlier, we could have considered it to be more durable than Nexus 4, but not now.
Anyway.. if Nexus 4 sticks to 21.5k and Moto G costs no more than 16.5k, then of course Moto G will be the winner.

Technically, tax isn't applied on imports! Its only the shipping charge and customs levied (if a relative sends you the device, then no customs). So, basically it should be 14-15K max.

New motoG with LTE and microSD slot!

Have people seen this?
http://www.engadget.com/2014/05/12/moto-g-with-lte-pops-up-on-amazon/
"As good a deal as the Moto G might be for frugal smartphone shoppers, it doesn't have speedy LTE data; for some, that's practically a deal-breaker. However, it might get that often-sought upgrade relatively soon. Amazon has posted listings for two unannounced Moto G variants with "universal LTE," including one in a previously unavailable white hue. Detailed store pages are sadly missing, but both entries mention a $220 price (slightly above the $200 you'd pay for a 16GB 3G model) and a June 30th ship date. We'd also expect these to work only with GSM-based networks like AT&T and T-Mobile, so don't count on there being a Verizon equivalent."

That's great news! Only thing that I really don't like about my Moto G is the lack of a SD slot. Google don't like the idea of using SD cards on phones, maybe that's why our Moto Gs didn't have slot when they were released.
I don't think I will buy another Moto G right away, but a Moto G2 will probably come out by the end of the year and will have a SD slot.
Motorola rocks.
Also about the SD card....Moto has re enabled the "move to SD card" feature of androids...so you can move apps to SD without any root or 3rd party app

Sad for current owners...
Can some developer answer this for me:
To my knowledge the hardware (SoC, modem) is the same as in the "old" Moto G, if it is so, will it be possible to enable the LTE?
It would be interesting to see how the IO performance and overall performance would be with external SD card enabled . IO is pretty speedy with the embedded SD card.

I just hope Motorola doesn't forget the other variants like Samsung does.
Keeping variaty of devices to a minimum is the best thing Motorola can do right now to keep devices updated.
Galaxy S5 is barely out and there are already news of 5 different S5 variants in the making and only the Original S5 will get updated.

Since so many of these devices get abandoned so quickly by the manufacturer, buying the "cheap" ones (sub $300) like the Moto G is part of my strategy.
If the Moto G loses support in a year, hopefully there will just be another ~$200 device to jump to by then.
How difficult do you guys think it will be for developers to get the current roms/kernels over onto this new lte model?
Ordered the Moto G yesterday, and Motorola would not cancel my order. I guess I am gonna need to return and re-order the LTE version. This is exactly what I need for T-Mobile.
The non LTE version of the Moto G doesn't make sense anymore, IMO. Its either the LTE Moto G or E.
I don't really care about the new Moto G. The only difference is the SD card slot and LTE. I store all my files on the cloud so 16GB is more than enough for me. The battery on the new Moto G is the same so I suspect that the LTE will destroy the battery. I get about 12mbps down and 5 up on 3g, that's more than enough. Also my battery lasts all day.
Sent from my XT1034 using Tapatalk 2
Quite an interesting turn of events, especially considering it's got KitKat on it and that has issues with microSD cards for a lot of apps and purposes. Regardless, it does make the Moto G a damned fine device I suppose, but honestly my Galaxy Express is still way ahead of it in my opinion. Might be a slight bit less powerful with a slightly older processor (dual 1.5 Krait) and lacking that HD resolution (Galaxy Express is 800x480) but I paid $80 for this thing and it's been rock solid since day one with an official CM11 build (just hitting M6) so I'm good to go.
Besides, the Wolfson DAC in this thing more than makes up for any potential shortcomings.
So am I right in assuming that this new version comes only in 8GB and has the microSD card slot?
and there WON'T be a 16GB with microSD card slot?

I just ordered the Moto G as well, and Motorola won't cancel.
What they will do:
* ship it to me.
* provide pre-paid FedEx shipping label to ship it back.
* give me a 100% refund
Yes, they are paying to ship it twice instead of just cancelling it.

Getting Moto X Style?

Well, what leaked so far for the upcoming Moto X 2016 with the lack of stereo speakers left me quite cold...
There are some Moto X Style (same as the Pure Edition, but for Europe) on sale at expansys.ca for $440 CAN (or $349 US). It's said to be compatible with the major Canadian carriers for LTE and 3G. It's very tempting to upgrade my Idol 3 with this (my Idol is still sold $360 CAN over here)..

[edit] Looks like it's backordered for 3-4 weeks...And now $454 CAN...
Anyone ever used Expansys?
Looks like Expansys-USA provides a 6-month warranty for this Moto X Style, with an additional 12-month that can be purchased for $50 CAN.
Thanks.

Some questions before I order?

I am very excited to order a new Moto G4 Plus, it will be a replacement for my One Plus X which was stolen about 6 weeks ago.
Amazon UK have the following listing:
Motorola Moto G4 Plus 16GB Dual SIM-Free Smartphone - White - Exclusive to Amazon for £199 (€221/$248)
The Dual SIM would be useful for my work number, but not at the price of a white phone!
Am I correct the Moto G4 Plus cannot be bought for that price dual SIM in black?
If so would it be possible and cost effective to order that white dual SIM model and a black front and back bezel?
Otherwise I was thinking of ordering this model:
Motorola Moto G4 Plus 16GB SIM-Free Smartphone - Black (Single SIM) - (Exclusive to Amazon) for £199
Unless there are issues with heat or performance with that model and I should consider a 3GB RAM model instead? I have a 128GB Sandisk MicroSD card so I thought I could get by with 16GB of on board memory...

This may not be relevant considering the reasons you're upgrading from OPX, but given my few days experience with OPX you'd miss its fantastic OLED display on MOTO G. At the cost of sounding discouraging, being a current Moto G4 plus user I'd recommend considering another phone for your intended purpose of upgrading. This is based on my two month rigorous use and finding far too many issues with Moto G4 plus for its hype. For one, unless you aren't fond of dedicating a few hours each day flashing ROMs and tweaking settings or installing mods, heating-up and ghost touch issues, apart from Moto G's build and design are not easy to accept for the price you pay for this fourth moto G iteration which is far from its predecessors' in terms of quality and performance.
As for the memory, going from 16 to 32 gig is surely worthwhile though only if there weren't other 32Gig phones out there offering better performance at prolly more competent prices.
Sorry if I sound sore, but couldn't help being honest with what I've learned from buying this phone.

And why not shoot yourself in the foot at the same time? Do you not read the news? The Note 7 has had more issues than any phone in the history of smartphones. That was the laughing smiley for.
Okay, so it seems most would recommend their Moto G4 Plus.
Another 'Moto-maker' order cancelled by Motorola UK. After speaking with 3 technical support agents through their web based Live Chat, and being unable to get a clear answer from either one of them, I phoned and spoke with someone whose first language was actually English, and they explained the orders were cancelled because I was using a redirection service.
As I am in the Republic of Ireland I cannot order directly from Motorola UK, instead I tried using the same forwarder I always use for this kind of thing, but it is blacklsited by Motorola UK. Not sure what to do now, I really want a black dual SIM 32GB G4 Plus, but I do not want to pay Amazon an extra £39 for the privilege! It would be a real shame if I had to instead opt for the black single sim 16GB model from Amazon.
I am not sure what to do now, perhaps see if any family have friends in the UK that would manually forward it.
Sorry about that, I wasn't aware you'd already ordered for one, could have toned down the bad stuff I've had to say.
I guess, having shopped around a bit, doesn't look like there's much to choose from if I were to get a different phone, besides to be more honest my budget won't allow an upgrade just as yet. So guess I'll live with it for now and while my time away installing and uninstalling programs to squeeze out whatever good I can from my Moto G4 Plus.
And yes, majority moto g4 owners do seem to be swearing by their phones, that should ideally suffice to join their lot, besides making it worth buying considering there's going to be no dearth of dedicated forums and communities and such.

FWIW, there are things I'd like to see like NFC, a magnetic compass and water repellent like the G3 but all in all it's a pretty solid phone for the price. Oh yea, it doesn't have the built-in heater like some Samsung phones but I can live without that.
