[Q] Is there any way to link Ringtone and Notification volumes? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm really surprised by this it seems kind of a useless thing to me but when pushing the volume button down it lowers the volume of the ringtone but not the notification volume? I have to click on the volume settings and lower it manually.
Is anyone else experiencing this? or know of any way to link the two so that notifications would be the same volume as the ringtone?
I'd even use a volume manager if that would work but I tried to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The Simple Volume app works for me to address this issue.

How it's possible ?

Now if I could only separate the vibration for notifications and ringtones. Haha I will post another question for this.
Thanks again

High Message Notification Tone

I am sorry but I searched and couldn't find any relevant info:
Is there any way to make the message notification sound full without always keeping the system volume to a 100% ?
I dont see the point of having Notification tones linked with system volume.
Shouldn't it be more related to a ringer volume. I am using Dutty's HD V16 COM3 Rom...!!
thanks....
Yeah unfortunately the sms notification is not with system volume. Best solution is one volume setting and not dual.

Option to cut off notification sounds

Hi All
I did a few searches throgh this forum but couldn't find the answer I was after. Basically I'm after some way to cut off or override the sound of notifications while the phone is in my pocket. I had thisfeature on my Atrix using MIUI so unsure if it's a feature/option relating to MIUI itself but would very much like the same functionality using the i9505. Does anyone know how I might achieve this?
Thanks in advance

If you're looking to turn off the notification sounds (or change the volume) click one of the buttons for volume and click the gear the the right of the volume bar and then you can change the ringtone , media , notifications and system.
Hi, thanks for the reply, That's not exactly what I'm after.
Basically when you have a notification going off and you drag the notification bar down, it'll cut out the sound. I used to be able to hit the power button when my Atrix was in my pocket and it would do the same thing. I'm just looking to be able to do the same thing with the S4.

[Q] Notification Volume

So I've run across an issue that is quite bothersome to me.
is there no option to make the notification volume change with the ringer volume?
I haven't found the setting anywhere and on both my old htc and samsung devices there was an option, does lg not have one or am I missing it?

If you press the settings cog in the volume slider in the notification Window it let's you change volume for a bunch of different things, I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for.

No, I know how to change the volume.
What I'm looking for is a setting to make the notification volume change at the same time as the ringer volume.

Gotcha, I haven't looked too hard at that, I will take a look when I get a few minutes.
I'm sure there's an app that let's you do this. Have you checked the play store?
Nothing that I've found works so far

[Q] Using volume button to change notification volume?

I know some people like independent volume settings but I don't. Is there any way to change it so that when I use the volume button to change the volume is also changes the notification volume?

Does that app allow you to "join" the notification volume with the ringer volume so when you push the volume button on the back of the phone, they both change?

I am pretty sure that it does. There are a lot of settings within the app. I paid the 99 cents for the pro version, so I may have more settings then the free version.

Here's an app for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37023489
I'm using it myself.
EDIT: Actually THIS is the one I'm using: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aj5613.fgd&hl=en
Works great.
Hopefully there's a way around it. It is kinda annoying I agree. I think the issue was it maybe was linking the ringer to the notification but our buttons change the ringer. We need it the other way around.

Works perfect. You don't "see" the notification slider move actually but if you go back in...its moved. Thanks!

I just wanted to point out that I edited my post to include another app too. I use one from the play store actually, but if this is working (and it should), then it doesn't really matter . This definitely annoyed me too. For a while, I couldn't figure out why notifications were still so loud even when I had ringer on level 1 or 2!! It's so odd that they are NOT linked and have no option. It just makes sense that if you turn the RINGER down, the Notifications would be quieter too. I mean, silencing the ringer will also silence notifications, so it's just inconsistent!
Anyway, rant over. Problem is resolved :good:

Volume buttons question

If I am on my home screen and I use the volume buttons, it only changes the media volume instead of the notification/ring tone volume like I would expect. The only way I can change the notification/ring tone volume is to go into the sound settings menu and adjust the slider. Am I overlooking a way to change what the volume buttons control?

Apparently, that's how Oneplus has set it to work. You'll have to tweak it with xposed/ custom rom/ magisk mod.

Has anybody found a solution to this annoying as hell problem? How do you make the volume side buttons control the ringer volume? Why is there not a choice? Is it that difficult to for the programmers to fix? It's a simple thing. I hate that when you go into settings and control the volume that way IT PLAYS YOUR F&$KING RING TONE!!! That is so stupid! And don't come back with "use your slide switch above the on/off button" because I want to use my volume buttons. Can anyone help? It sucks having to waste so much time to try and find a solution to such a simple request....
Same here. Any software "fix" that bypasses the slider? I just have a bad feeling about it breaking one day...

use a volume app. Also, if you are putting a request do it nicely, nobody is working for you here. We share what we know and nobody owes anyone anything.
That is how oneplus has designed the volume keys to work so complain on oneplus support.

What volume app? I can't find anything that overrides the slider. Allegedly, oxygen slider (xposed module) might be it, but wanted to confirm if anyone here was successful in doing so.

Try this thread - xposed alternative full working
I don't know which app. It has been a long time so I don't know if it exists anymore.
Ended up finding a little app called "silent mode toggle". Basically puts the phone into vibrate mode, which is all I need. Tasker has similar functionally as well. This bypasses the slider (needs to be in the ring mode).

Just found another solution and posted about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/how-to-bypassing-slider-to-change-t3958265
