Improve quality of camera photos - Xperia SP General

Hi all i share this customisations for the camera pics i take this of the Xperia L and i try this in sp 4.1 and in 4.3.3

Tested on Sony Xperia L and Xperia Sp I'm not sure if it is working on other devices. Try it at your own risk. You just need to have rooted your device, and to add some lines to ''build.prop''. Located in ''/system''. You also have to do some changes some in ''media_profiles.xml''. Located in ''/system/etc''. I recommend you to use ''Root Explorer''. Reboot is required...
- General:

ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=8000000 Improve the quality of image.
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000 Improve the quality of video.
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100 Improve jpeg quality to 100%.

Thanks man! It's working fine :good: Minor improvements but overall it's better :cyclops:

Thnx man! Today applied to my sisters SP (4.3) and my Z (4.4.2) and works for sure! Best way to compare before and after is on pc

I did that and I don see any changes in the quality. The lines are still in build.prop, but I think there low improvements..but good and nice!
Sorry my english.

If you're on stock, you'll need an FTF file and flash it with flashtool.

Not clear how to do!!!
??????™ ? ?

As far as i understand the OP, there will be no problem in adding some lines in the build.prop file. However, the problem will arise in editing the media_profiles.xml file. We have to adjust the bit rate to achieve better quality of photos. We should also consider other phones which are capable of having 1080p resolution (example is Xperia Z).
Here are the default values for my Xperia Z using Xsistenz Ultimate 1.5.5:
-Back and front camera profiles (they have the same bitrate values):
@"1080p" / "timelapse 1080p", bitrate=17500000
@"720p" / "timelapse 720p", bitrate=12000000
@"480p" / "timelapse 480p", bitrate=4000000
@"qcif" / "timelapse qcif", bitrate=96000
Note: "1080p" profile is different from "timelapse 1080p" profile. So i think if we are going to change bitrate from "1080p" profile, we also have to change the bitrate from "timelapse 1080p" profile and same goes with the other profiles.
For the OP: What bitrate values are we going to enter for each profile?

Post Pictures taken with The Xperia Play (r800)

First of all I know that our camera sucks, But after applying some tweaks I Was really surprised that I got pretty detailed pictures, Colours are not that bad too.
Add this to build.prop:
#Image and Video Capture improvements
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000 (I added this tweak, All others by 216Monster)
ro.media.dec.jpeg.memcap=10000000
Note: I take no credit for these tweaks, All credit goes to 216Monster
The Arc has one of these threads, Why not us?
Oh cool, i gonna try it out tomorrow. Is there something similar to raise the video quality?

Add those lines in the build.prop, I suggest using root explorer to do so. The build.prop is located in the system folder. If you don't know how to use root explorer then you probably shouldn't be messing with the build.prop to begin with
I'm going to upload a video example later. That sucks too.

Did you reboot your device, and you will only see a difference when scale them up on to a computer for example.
You can see how bad our Camera is for recording a video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbqtEX5Jgok
But I'm not sure if there is some tweaks we can do to improve that.
The Xperia Play video camera is not that bad considering it got updated to 720p
Here is my vid I recorded with my Xperia Play
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXEnXh1p98A&feature=plcp
New Tweak to improve video:
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000
Again add to build.prop, I've noticed a slight improvement, But lighting is a little difference since last.

Well, my actual progress is, "power mode" showing up in settings, you can enable but will get an hot-reboot and than you must reflash ROM because your arc will boot to system, hot reboot, boot to system, hot reboot etc...
I think app need to be suported by some libs , kernel and seting apk

I hope they further improve WiFi and get rid of the lockscreen design, I really dislike it. I miss the simple, but useful lockscreen from our 2012 Xperias (ICS build).
Xperia SP's Wi-Fi strength is poor in connectivity! The new lockscreen is more useful for me! In terms of simplicity, 2012 lockscreen was better'!

Camera app has been updated!

The Camera app has just been updated on my Z5 .. unfortunately, I forgot to take a screenshot of the changelog (but mostly it seemed to be about the UI and Superior Auto seems to be improved). EDIT: see @schecter7's post directly below mine for the changelog!
Looking at it, the UI was changed the same as how it was supposed to look like based on the promo videos and demo units from before. Sadly, there is no manual shutter speed yet as far as I can see, manual focus, and still cannot change ISO when shooting at 20MP/23MP mode.
We all know thought that Sony tends to have 'hidden' changes to their algorithm whenever they have these kinds of updates as evidenced from updates before. I'm still waiting for the complete changelog from XperiaBlog but so haven't time yet to do any extensive testing.
Did you notice any significant changes in yours apart from the UI changes?
Changelog attached
Edit: Now we could swipe to change modes, added another (third) screenshot.

Limitet manual , no iso at 20-23 mp
Low light photo blure decreased
Left blure rest with no change
I installed the update and I've noticed that the problem with noise in low-light... in fact ingeneral is a bit better. It's still not as good as the galaxy line as far as crispness / saturation, but I don't think that's Sony's goal. For real, if I could install the Samsung camera app and libraries on this phone, I'd be all over that. Anyway it does seem to have improved, noticeably.
Where can I change the GPS tag and save folder location in this new app? Can't find it. Thanks.

Trying not to speak too soon as I've not done anything near a comprehensive test but there do seem to be improvements in processing, though not as marked as I had expected. The one biggie is the zoom: to my eyes, the processing on the zoom is much better now; the sharpening fringing on edges is much smaller, which means that it's less of an oil painting mess when you crop the zoomed image. And that's in low indoor light.
8MP generally seems sharper.
More to follow.
On the interface, I note that they've hidden the exposure and colour adjustments on SA in a menu (boo!) but given a button to switch them off when you want to return to auto (yay!) swings and roundabouts but generally pleased.
EDIT: Yep, definitely better digital zoom. Good enough to piece together small text (Just about legibly) at 5x. Trust me: it was not doing that before!

So still no manual shutter speed in this update?
I thought that this would be a given since the Z5 supports manual features now, or don't they?
Is it possible to control the shutter speed with 3rd party apps? What's the resolution and the shutter speed range? Is it actually working or does the system override the manual settings?
