Does this really warrant a brand new thread in the development section?

And in other news, tensions remain high in the vzw gs5 forums as members continue to search for root. It is not a pretty sight out here. Back to you in the studio.

Not to be Debbie downer.... But the days of Samsung products being easy to develope on... Are over... Look at the S4 and Note 3 threads... D.E.A.D. I personally love Sammy products.. owned a S3 and a note 3... Bought both cash.. spoiled with a S3 unlocked boot loader.. which chances are Will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN ? then my locked down tighter than a rat's a$$ note 3! loved the phone.. but the lack of development made me so bored with it.. HTC m8 has all the goodies.. could not be any happier.. COMPLETELY UNLOCKED all the way... If you guys are hoping to have a great phone.. with lots of development.. and are still under your 14 days.. I HIGHLY suggest taking that s5 back and getting the M8. You went regret it... If you don't care about development... ( lol then you probably would not even be reading this ) lol.. then I'm sure the S5 is the perfect phone for you... All I know is I paid top dollar cash for a brand new note 3.. and was completely bored after 2 months... That thing is so locked down and always will be.. ( along with all Sammy products) I took a huge loss and sold it..and now totally happy with the M8... Lots of developers are giving up cause of Verizon and Samsung are just making it so hard to work on.. it sucks... But the truth.. I'm a m8 owner but love Sammy products.. why I'm here was just hoping for some miracle that may have happened with this phone.. but it's a needle in a hay stack... But love this M8.. can't be any happier with this phone.. just sharing the love.. hope people don't lose money on a phone that will bum then out on a phone that won't get much development.. Root alone is going to be a task.. specially with Knox involved now.... Good luck guys!

I would've got the M8 if it didn't have such a ****ty camera and that useless bottom bezel.

Yeah.. I think I would of liked the buttons to be like S3 s4 and S5... I hate losing screen real estate cause of the buttons but the stereo speakers do sound great though... I dint see much difference If any in screens.. and as far as the camera goes... Seems to shoot sold pictures for my needs... I Am a little bummed about the No 4k video recording for sure though...

How in the world could anyone leave a super AMOLED screen for an LCD? Samsung has the best camera and the best video player out there. I realize they aren't the best in regards to updating their firmware, but yikes. Samsung has the best hardware, hands down. I don't think I could ever leave them.
Droid charge FTW, by the way.

Agree 100%, you can't beat samsung when it comes to hardware.

A good friend of mine just upgraded from the Incredible to the Incredible 2 and the only thing I like about it is the front facing camera. Other than that, it's MEH. The screen size is smaller than (or same size as) Fascinate, the speed doesn't seem to be any different, they are still using the LCD, crappy 1 Gig of phone memory, shipped with a small SD card... I'd take a stock, bloated Fascinate over the I2 any day... much less my fully customized, sweetly configured piece of artwork.
Bottom Line: The Fascinate is still one of the best out there, it's an amazing phone that is easy to use with great results. My kids watch movies on it all the time, the screen rocks! Games play flawlessly most of the time and it's just a very nice piece of hardware.
I do wish good ole VZW hadn't jumped away from the GalaxyS II. Now my future plans for an upgrade later this year are going to be put on indefinte hold because I really prefer Samsung.
its sad that the samsung phones tend to need modding to show their true potential, nice phones out-of-the-box, but nowhere near their potential till you start modding.
I am on hold for my upgrade as well to see what verizon will do, may have to change carriers if they dont come up with something from verizon to replace my fassy
I have a funny twist to this story, I have an inc2 but will be switching to a fascinate in a few days, unless my wife wants it. I just want a new toy to play with and it looked like a good phone and I didn't wanna pay 350 for a replacement of her inc 2 she broke, so I ordered a fascinate. I have been reading these forums, and the terminology seems different and some things are new to me "whats this odin thing lol" but I'm really excited to mess with it and try stuff out as I have already done/tried everything available for the inc 2 since it came out. I made a thread under q&a if anyone is so kind to help a fellow flashaholic out...

Galaxy Nexus Goodbye Thread!

Well guys, this may be it. I'm probably going to buy a G-Nex tonight, if not, sometime this week. I've had a great experience here. My first android phone was the DINC and it will be remembered....as my new MP3 player... Sad yet great day! Thanks to all the Devs! Hope to see some of you over at the G-Nex LTE forums!!!
Also, everyone else feel free to use this as a home for your goodbyes!
Same here! I loved my Inc, got it on launch day shipped.
Also same here - I'm thinking of passing it on to my son, who is too young for a phone but loves to game on it. Anyone know of a ROM that is specifically designed to turn it into a sort of aPod?
How would you be able to get one tonight? It releases tomorrow. I'm getting one too probably tomorrow.

Goodbye DINC forums, I've been such a fan for so long. Thank you so much to all the Devs who made the DINC so awesome to have that I kept it way past my upgradability timeframe. I'm off to Galaxy Nexus land but I'll still be around since I now have 3 DINCs I have no idea what I'm going to do with.

Got one as well! Hopefully some of our great devs migrate over with us!
Ah DInc, you were a great phone, and because of that I've met a ton of great people in the community. My DInc will be my glorified MP3 player for my car.
I've learned a lot here, since it was my first Android device. I'll miss it here, but you can find me in the Galaxy Nexus / HTC Flyer / Xoom forums.
I'll stop back from time to time, see how things are going!
Mr Skyraider, Jermaine, McD, 'Stang, Newtoroot, and all the devs and others, thanks for doing what you do. See you on the Nexus forums or in future endeavors!

Not good enough
I went into Verizon yesterday to look at the Galaxy Nexus and I just wasn't impressed enough to spend the money. Oh well, maybe the next big phone release will be too irresistible. The whole game playing with the release date changing so much just left a bad taste in my mouth too.
I too, am joining the Galaxy Nexus crowd! It's been a great year and half everyone, hope to see all of you around GN forums!

Goodbye Galaxy Nexus
Well,
After 26 days of owning not one, but 3 Galaxy Nexus phones, I have returned mine as the problems I had with the call quality/signal strength and the phone constantly muting itself during calls, have made me not want it anymore. Yes it was a beautiful device, had great speed, an awesome screen, and a lot of other things, but it didn't live up to what a phone is meant to be, a PHONE!. I know that there are software updates coming out to all of the folks with this phone and I hope that you get your issues resolved by it, but I simply couldn't justify keeping it for what I paid. So now back to an old phone for me until something works out!
Former Inc owner with a Nexus now. Unlocking and rooting the phone was easy. Haven't had a chance to flash anything on it yet but the roms look great. I dunno making the switch was easy for me.

I have a rezound, an OG Droid and just picked upa Dinc for the hellovit from a cousin...I cant tell you how impressed I am at the speed and feel of the dinc. I had a tbolt too for a while and the dinc feeps way faster and battery life is magnificent with an evo 2000mah battery in it. May activate the dinc one day just for $h1ts and giggles....

How is the Rezound? I'm not up for an upgrade till April, but I'm between the Rezound and GNex... I'm leaning for for the gnex due to the problems they've had rooting the Rezound

Goodbye to an amazing phone

I am giving up my Note.
I pay for my father's phone and his current one has died on him. Because his sight is getting bad he wanted a 'phone like mine' with a massive screen.
I have considered the Note 2 as a replacement or the S3 but am being swayed by the Sony Xperia T as I take a lot of photos on my phone and the camera was my only point of contention with the Note - the camera hardware/optics aren't that great.
Regardless, I'll be visiting another forum soon so I just wanted to say thanks to Chainfire, Dr Ketan and everyone else who has made owning a rooted Note such an amazing experience!

Basically we are so much emotionally attached with community so can't leave without saying see off. Just take it easy, I know other point of view too. But emotion is always beyond the control of we human beings.
So it's ok, may one common thread can be started to say goodbye to all or such kind of thread should be reported by op himself after some period to keep forum clean.

Don't want to start any flaming but my main reason for saying goodbye was to thank those who give their time, free of charge or depending only on donations, to make our phone experience better.
Most people understand the sentiment of thanking someone for having a positive impact on their lives and experiences, but if you don't subscribe to that then just don't contribute!
My next phone will probably be the Xperia T, if I can handle the reduction in screen size that is. My Mrs has just got an Xperia S and its a great phone, the stock software is the best I've ever seen on a phone, build quality is excellent. Thing is things are just getting great with the Note development wise, so will be sticking here at least until the price comes down a little on the T.
Oh and another reason to get a Xperia T - Codeworkx has got one.
Enjoy your new phone, nothing like being new phone happy.:highfive:

I got the Xperia T in the end. So far so good - the half an inch less screen makes a BIG difference but the T is great and once I'd stopped using the Note for a few hours I didn't miss it so much. The camera is just amazing. I RDP to my PC quite a lot and was worried the smaller screen would be an issue but nope, it's fine, so I know it will be fine for everything else too.
This will be my last post in this forum because I can't be bothered with the likes of abhinav and because I'm moving on to pastures new.

Sounds like my 87 year old Granddad who thought colour TV was pointless until I gave him one in 2003 and wired it up while he was out and I said he could have it back if after a month he still wants his old TV back, and now he regularly plays on Wii with his Great Grandkids.

I have the S3 also. I'm debating the S5, but at the end of the day I think that I want a phone that's smaller than the note. The S5 doesn't have all of the features that I want (namely the larger internal memory), but I think it will be the best option out there. I'm also on the fence, but not sure I could wait until the note 4 comes along.
I'm on the Moto X, and I have my upgrade June 1. I'm at a toss up between the S5, M8, or waiting to see the X2 or Nexus 6. But I hate waiting...

I'm coming from an M7. I used to love HTC but this phone really upset me. Horrible signal (4G basically doesn't work and a SIM swap didn't help), not-so-good camera, and other slow down issues that really annoy me. I've had every HTC phone on Sprint since the Hero and none have disappointed me as much as this one TBH. I wanted an S4 last time but went M7 instead and now I'm just gonna switch over for the S5. Mine's cracked and a replacement would be $200 so I'd rather spend less and get an S5.
Im on the HTC Evo3D still and looking to upgrade and was looking at the One (M8) But the more I look at the S5 the more I like it. My mom has the S4 and being a bit of an HTC guy, I really like her S4. Plus I like the fact that the S5 looks to have an SD card slot as where the One doesnt. Not sure what to do just yet but in about 3 weeks I will be looking to upgrade to something newer. So far the S5 is in the lead. If it gets root right away, then im all in!

I don't like the sizes getting bigger and think the s3 size is right for me but there just isn't other choices in that range.

I'm sure there will be an S5 mini, or the Moto X is the same size I think.
Just upgraded to the HTC one max and it's pretty nice. There's not much development though. I'm getting the s5 for its waterproof feature and because it looks like the most balanced phone at the moment.

I'm coming from the S2. It has been a great phone, but 3 years is a long time and it's starting to show need of retirement. Can't wait to see this beast.

The S2 has been a beast and really stood the test of time I think, but my charging port finally gave out on me 2 weeks ago so i've been forced to make a decision so im jumping ship in hopes that the S5 has the same great community the S2 has had. I just hope i dont end up regretting it, for example locked boot loader keeping us from asop and etc. or maybe i shouldve opted for the note3... hmm.. too late now!
I sure will miss this versatile little phone!

The S3 and S4 are very similar in size and if I recall the S4 might be a bit smaller.
And the biggest thing that is putting me on the fence- Sprint Spark sucks if you depend on using data while on a call. This is kinda a huge deal to me and almost makes the S4 (Non-Triband) a better phone. But at the same time- S5 is kick ass other than that. It has the best battery life of any Android phone due to algorithms. But I may buy a S5 to get Framily plan- I know it sucks but it is something.
