Gallery question & issue with Docs to go - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In both my S3 & S4 I was able to label a picture in my gallery from any one of my albums a favorite picture making it easier to find a picture i wanted. I can't seem to find that option in my S5. Is this feature gone?
Also, I cannot open any type document files on my phone. I was able to open files on my S4 and I haven't changed the Microsoft Office program I use to normally create or edit files. I keep getting the error THIS FILE CANNOT BE OPENED BECAUSE IT IS NOT A VALID MS WORD 97-2011 FILE. This error happens with word, ppt, & excel files I try to open. Anyone else get this error. Thanks in advance

[Q] Anyway to view/clear clipboard?

Does anyone know how to access/clear the clipboard on the nexus 4? Im finding it increasingly annoying when I accidently press the paste option when I'm trying to replace misspelt words.
If not, could anyone recommend any apps that would do the job.
Reboot
Idblove to know how to open it up and view whats on it, maybe as a folder in the gallery?

I use an app called clipper and it lets me select what I want to paste out of all the items I have coppied and has a section where I keep things I paste often.....

questions about polaris office on the note.

The app seems to work pretty well, but I'm having one major issue.
How do you send, forward or email out a doc. I have read through the help menu and tried everything. It says to click on the box etc.
No box exist anywhere and nothing seems to open up the option.
Does anyone know how to do this? am I missing something?
You can't send from an open doc, you must use the browser, navigate to where the doc is located, tick the box next to it and then hit the icon second from right.
I forgot to mention that the copy function does not work either. Is this a full version of polaris, or is it a custom version for the note, that is missing features?

Problems with moving files around

Hi everyone, so I have fx file browser and I use it to manage files on my phone. I download some pictures and do screenshots of some funny pictures, and I want to move them all to their own file. So I made a file, and moved them all to that file. I go to gallery, but I still see that those pictures are in the downloads and screenshots folder. So I clear data with the gallery, reboot, and still they haven't moved to the new folder I made. It has been 3 days since I have done this, and the pictures still show up in the downloads and screenshots folder, while fx says that they are all in the new folder. Any ideas on how to fix this??
Thanks!

You created a new Folder (not file). For your pictures. Did you copy them to the new folder or cut and paste them? I'm thinking you copied them. If you copied them Gallery will still find them in the old location.
Using your file explorer, find your new folder, open it, cluck on a picture, open with Gallery. Gallery should find them after that.
Try a media scanner from play store

Ya I made a folder, but I cut the pictures, I didn't copy them. And what does that media scanner do?

Hidden Folder

I have a certain folder with "only for my eyes" content that I have always had hidden by using a . Before the folder. (.folder) I come from an S3 so I had a microsd card which I sorry miss but I had transferred everything without issue but once I added a new photo too the folder it now shows up in my gallery. Resetting the cache on gallery and reboot has not helped.
Any help you guys can offer?

Try creating a blank file .nomedia inside the folder. Then the Gallery wont read it.

Thanks but that didn't do it unfortunately. A reset of the gallery and a reboot got rid of the new photo. But once I put a new one in there it again appeared in gallery.

using the stock gallery? why not long press and hit hidden folders.. you can then hide it.

^^^ What he said. But still, strange that the .nomedia trick didn't work. Worked on mine. But I haven't added any new pics to the folder, though

[Q] how do file managers retain listview

In most of the file managers present on Google play. when we open a folder and then go back, list view is automatically scrolled to the position from where folder was opened. So either the scroll position or whole list view is saved. I want to ask how this can be implemented?

yes, there are a few ways to do it, probably the easiest is just storing the scroll position yourself, much info on SO about this if you google... also complex views like listView save their own bundles too iirc
