[Q] Pure AOSP Nexus ROM - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all, hello to all Lg G2 users. I joined the family upgrading from S4 two weeks ago.
I was wondering why there isn't any pure AOSP rom? Is there a big reason or something? We got the same hardware as N5 and from my side i dont know why there aren't any pure AOSP roms at the top of all threds.
Btw the phone is great! And i really fell upgrading from S4 is a big defference.

well that's very simple if we were aiming for pure aosp experience than we would have opted for a nexus, actually that isn't true I'm pretty sure the reason there isn't a pure aosp rom is because nobody bothers to make one, there are alternatives like cm/aokp/pa and each one is better than pure because they have new things to play with, im pretty sure that it wouldn't be hard to make a pure aosp rom I mean it'd be a simple as taking cm, removing all the features and making it look as nexus as possible

Pure Android on S4

Hi everyone,
I just switched from an iPhone 4 to an S4 and so far the experience has been great, however, I wanted to know if there's a way to run 'Pure Android' on it.
From what I THINK I know, Samsung's version of android has a bunch of pre-installed crap. Call me crazy but this bothers me, I just want a clean OS, and that's something I liked about iOS. I don't know if it has any other limitations, I haven't gotten that far into it yet, except from the home dock being locked.
Anyway, I'm a complete Android noob, but I can follow clear instructions.
Is it even possible to do what I'm after? Is there a clean, safe and fast way of doing it for somebody like me that doesn't know much about these things?
Also, I don't have access to a PC as I am a mac user.

If you can't wait for the Galaxy S4 Google Edition , why don't you just buy LG Google Nexus 4 instead of Galaxy S4 before that ?

The S4 is still pretty new so development is still picking up, but AOSP roms are supposed to give you that pure android experience. Cyanogenmod (CM), AOKP and others add some great tweaks and settings for further customizations. You can check the Original Android Development for Cyanogenmod and AOKP, but I would suggest you wait a while as things are still being improved. They should get more stable soon and have clean and clear installation methods.
Android differs from iOS in that you get a lot of customization options. Different people have different choices and android can be adapted for anyone. Some like the pure android experience and go for either a Nexus phone, which is pure android, or install an AOSP rom on their non-nexus phone.
Some people like Samsung's Touchwiz while others do not. Other roms add even further customizations, etc. Welcome to android..!

Is there any AOSP ROM for the n95005? and why not?

Just wondering is there any fully stock/vanilla roms for the note 3?
I've seen people on this forum in the past on custom ROM threads saying they hate Samsung and devs wont supply vanilla roms, I don't understand why? is it because of the bootloader or something?
I would love to use my Note 3 on a purely stock rom, something like the google play edition S4.
Any help greatly apprectiated, thanks

Bizzare isn't it?? espcially on XDA I would have expected more Note 3 users and devs to want a fully stock experience, given the hardcore specs on the phone im sure with a particular kernel the stock/vanilla experience would give some great battery life too.
I use NOVA with Xposed for a tweaked custom feel, but its on top of touchwiz. I'd like the google play edition feel.

Thanks, yeah I've used it before but effectively its the same as running a launcher on top of touchwiz (also kitkat launcher has far less feautures compared to Nova)
C'mon devs surely someone would love a stock android experience on a beast like the Note 3?!

Is it that time yet?

Hey guys. Do you think its about time we incorperated features like multi window and mabey even screen resizing into AOSP such as cyanogen? I know AOSP is built on pure android but would such features really weigh down the vanilla experience we seek in cyanogen. Just a question. I love cm12 however i always revert back to TW 5.0 only because of the availability of such features. And with xposed disabled for 5.0 users it seems we are a bit limited. Would an AOSP team ever consider adding such features or is something like that against what cyanogen stands for? Is it even possible to add those things to the build of cm? Its just me pondering and hoping some day we will see these conviences in CM. I would like to hear from our XDA community and see if you feel it is something good, bad, or your indifferent too. I did actually post this question in temaseks CM12 section but then thought to hear the voice of XDA. So please take a moment and let us know your thoughts.
That's why I'm on stock. CM just doesn't use all the bells and whistles of this phone!

I am kind of forced into a stock-like situation. Only because the newer 5.0 based n3 are mostly stock. But with the ability to clean and debloat they run a bit better. However i love aosp based roms. So i do bounce around. I would love to see temaseks cm12 use afew of the convient features of tw.
All the TW features are worth it except S named ones, you know, Smart this, Smart that, I have never used a single one of them, ever.

Possible to build a pure AOSP rom for N910F?

Hey XDA, I've been looking for a pure AOSP rom for the Note 4 for a while because I'm not a fan of AOSP derivatives with all their extra customisations. Seeing as my warranty has ran out and I've still not seen anything in development, I figured I could probably give it a go myself. However, I've not done any developing since the days of the HP TouchPad having android ported across so it'd take a bit of work on my part (which I'm willing to commit).
All I wanted to know is if there is a glaringly obvious reason that I'm missing for why no one has developed a rom like this for the Note 4?
I have a Nexus 5 which will be good for getting back into practice compiling roms, and an LG GPad 8.3 running a pure AOSP rom which will be good for practicing too. Anyone else interested in this?
Cheers, Will.

Am I getting this right, not a single custom ROM for SM-A510F?

Hi, just wondering what's up. I'd kill for CM12 or 13 on my brand new a5 2016.. what gives?
thanks!
We waited more than a year for the A5 2015 edition to get roms, and there are only about 2 serious developers working on it. It is likely that you will get very little to zero support for your phone, even less if you have the Exynos variant. If you want big custom rom support, buy a flagship or a Nexus. That is the best thing you can do. And what I have realised is before you buy a new phone, first search the XDA forums to see which is more popular and which have the most support.

well... ****
Hey bro, I'm waiting too for any custom rom on my a3 2016, coz i'm getting sick of using laggy and bad looking touchwiz.
Please Devs, do smething for our devices....
I've always used CM or CM-based custom roms on all my phones, but (never thought I would say this) I'm quite liking TouchWiz. Everything works, no bugs. Good stock apps like calendar, camera and email. Theme engine is good enough. Unbelievable battery life.
Just root, install xposed, and you're good.

:good: Absolutely right! And if you don't like TouchWiz you can use other launchers ... - I think the A5 is one of the best phones I ever bought and do not see the need to use a custom rom.

agree. I have used kf rom for several weeks . but now back to the stock rom
You can port CM by yourself. There are a lot of porting guides on the internet, but... there aren't developers because there aren't much people with that device, maybe later there will be some developer with that phone or maybe not. As jnvdh06 said u have to buy a nexus if you want lots of roms, because google release all sources
