I experienced the same after I unlocked my BL with flashtool 0.9.15 (fw .681): no data lost

Was it the first time unlocking ? You too removed SD and sim card?

It was for the 2nd time and both cards were still in the device. Earlier I also posted this in the Flashtool thread but till now no response. Curious, after Xperia S and SP this is my 3rd device and the 1st one which did not wipe data after unlocking

My xzr never wiped even on the first time

And what about after relock?
Or relock AND flash back TA partition?

I relocked by flashing backedup TA

I followed that guide for rooting and back up ta then unlocked. That time it wiped. Then relock using ta restore. Again unlocked using flash tool as I mention in op.no wipe this time

Rooting does not erase data.
Use the Root option, not Flash.

Are you using doomlord's zergrush root method? That's the method that you should use to root without losing data.
Sent from my LT15a using xda-developers app
If you are on 4.0.2.A.0.62(GB) Build, you have to flash the 4.0.2.A.0.42 firmware first because the 0.62 build cannot be rooted with 'zergrush'.when you've done this you don't have to wipe your data.

[Q] Z1 Debranded But OTA not working

Oh ok will unlock it thanks!
Unlocking the bootloader then updating OTA will brick your device. At least that happened with my Xperia Play, it never got bricked because I never did it. But read up about it to make sure the issue has been fixed on the Z1.
Sorry was maybe I bit short on reply, if you have an unlocked bootloader, ota will not work.

I think it's not just debrand by deleting some stuff ...You should change SI number or flash ftf with different SI to provide OTA

[GUIDE][ROOT XPERIA Z]Plus XZ Dual Recovery

Here is a simple guide to root Xperia Z and install @[NUT]'s XZ dual recovery at the same time (BIG thanks to him:good
**NOTE: If you are on .569 or .101 firmware, you will need to downgrade to a previous version as no rooting exploit is currently available**
Before starting, as always, make sure you have a backup of your data
Download XZ dual recovery from Here, and unzip it.
Go to Settings/About Phone/Build number and tap it 7 times to enable Developer Options
Go back, open Developer Options, check USB debugging box, and Click OK to allow.
Plug the phone into the PC via USB cable.
Now go to XZDR folder, run the install file and choose [ 3. Installation on unrooted ROM ]
If a message about RSA key comes up, allow it.
After installation, the phone will boot into Philz Touch 6 recovery.
Go to /Philz settings and select Re-root System (SuperSU) /Yes - Apply SuperSU.
The log should say "done install SuperSU from market"
Select ***Go Back***/Reboot System Now.
You are now rooted with XZ Dual recovery
Dont forget to install Chainfire's SuperSU app from Playstore, and update su Binary when prompted:good:
To enter the recoveries during the boot process, press volume up to enter Philz CWM Advanced edition, or volume down to enter TWRP when green LED comes on.
Alternatively, use the newly installed NDR utils app to choose which recovery to boot into.
For more information on XZ Dual Recovery go Here
Have fun and enjoy
Edit: You can now update to. 569 by flashing a pre-rooted rom in recovery.
An alternative way of gaining root after installing the dual recovery would be to simply boot into one of the recoveries and flash a superuser zip. That would install the superuser control apk to /system/app and includes the latest su binaries.
Chainfire always has the latest version of SuperSu available in zip form on his website - http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu

If I'm on .569 already, unroot and unlocked bootloader, can I still use your method? Install the dual recovery and flash SuperSU?

If your bootloader is unlocked then simply flash DooMLoRD's advanced stock kernel , then flash the SuperSU zip that I linked to.

Yes, I tested it successfully on that configuration, and it doesn't interfere with bootloader. Once you achieve root, it might be.a good idea to backup your TA partition.

No. If you want to flash Cyanogenmod (or any other non stock based rom), you need to unlock your bootloader.

No. The 4.4 roms that are currently available are non stock based. Anything that needs a custom kernel needs an unlocked bootloader.

Unlocked bootloader seems to not trip SafetyNet for Z2

Reverted to stock .291 since I plan moving on from the Z2 and I found that SafeNet was passed despite bootloader still being unlocked (therefore Android Pay and Pokemon Go working). https://imgur.com/a/WlA4A
