Blocking mode not disabling LED notifications? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Used blocking mode on my S3, S4, and now the S5. For some reason the blocking mode on the S5 does not disable the notification LED. The option to have it do so is just not there. Is anyone else noticing this? Any way to fix this?

Seems like a stupid thing to remove. That LED is as bright as the sun in my dark room at night!

I was hoping it would allow text messages for those in the allow list. My phone calls ring through, but texts do not.

Yea, the only thing I can find is going into display and insert LED notification, check the box in there to shut off notifications
Silly

My blocking mode isn't working at all. I do have a separate app that handles my ringtones, but even fb notifications go through when Blocking Mode is on =\

Same here, even after ANE2 update! Any ideas?

any hope to get this changed now that we have root?

I 2nd this, would love to have this working

Me too!
The only way to get this working for me was with GravityBox.
You have to set the time to turn off and on notifications, like at settings menu, but that actually works.

You can disable led in Blocking mode by editing table "system" in "/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db" and setting
Code:
dormant_disable_led_indicator 1
So set that and reboot to apply.

instructions
Can you give step by step instructions on how to edit the system table?

Is there a fool-proof way to ensure data is not turned on?

My data charges depend on the usage and it's very expensive. Sometimes, somehow my data is accidentally turned on. Is there a fool-proof way to ensure that that never happens? Is there an app that ask me to confirm if I am sure that I want to turn on data?
Go on settings
Press "more"
Go on "mobile networks"
And if data enabled is unmarked that means its off

I don't want to always go through those steps to see if it's off.
And, it doesn't really ensures that it never gets turned on.
Is there another way?

I can just press data enabled and it toggles on/off
Also next time post in the q&a section

But if you really really want to make sure pop out your sim and that should work trololol but seriously those widgets work! I used them before

Airplane mode... haha that will be sure you wont have data charges!!! lol
I'm guessing you could make a null APN and simply select it, that way your device shouldn't be able to use data until you choose the right APN.
^^ This will definately work.

Quick settings by dragging the top nav bar down.
And just press the mobile data icon if it is on to turn it off.

If you're rooted hit up your root file browser, go to system> app> delete anything that says widget. I've tried all the lock screen controls and it does nothing to remove them.
[Edit]: Just be aware when you use this method the clock and the user info may also go bye bye.
You can also disable the native lock screen and install a third party with no frills.

What do I do with this message?

Intermittently I keep getting a pop up message showing the following. I am not sure which application is causing this to occur. Is there a way to find out which is the rogue application?

Hello!
This is a bug that Samsung is aware of and is trying to solve. There isn't much to do, other than ignore it or completely reinstall. It pops up every time you turn on wifi and connect to a connection. Hopefully a bug fix will come with the next update.

This happened to me
When the notification comes up, pull down your notification tab, then where the notification appears, tap and hold on the notification (long tap). You will get a pop-up saying 'take me to the app' or similar , tap that and it will show it was Knox Notification. Once you get to the App, force close, and clear data. This will stop it recurring until samsung issue a fix.
hi ,
Here is another take what it could be >
from what i read in my local forums, if you long press on noticfication it takes you to KNOX notifications ( thats giving notice ? )
( further it is a speculated that , most apps use wifi etc warning appears, when you switch wifi on .?)t
presently.. do not have his issue at all ,so cannot confirm above .!
good luck
The popup message is not a bug. Its a security feature built in by KNOX which prevents you from messing around with root.
Follow instructions on this thread to disable it.

[Q] Power menu customization

Can someone tell me how to change the menu color. I have seen the power menu it self changed to a brushed metal background and I want to do that for mine but I can't find any answers.
are you talking about from power saving? that changes everything to grayscale.... settings > power saving > power saving mode > turn on grayscale mode
Sent from my primary sender for sending
No, just normal. I just want to be able to have a different color power menu screen or maybe even have a picture I took as the menu screen with the power off, reboot, emergency.... Etc... On top of it. Does that make sense?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe you can post a screen shot of the menu you're talking about? from your last message sounds like when you hold the power button down and the "phone options" pops up. If so, then sounds like you're looking for something from either a custom rom or a theme. If you're on stock, you won't get options like that.

I'm rooted running risks rom. If it's a theme, do you know what theme will change the background and maybe change the screenshot icon

Its not exactly easy to modify system colors. Perhaps an xposed module will be your best bet.

Notification LEDs off in DND or charge?

Hi,
Is there a way to access the pictured setting via Tasker or some other way? Light Flow causes more problems than solving... It bucks up my notifications...
All I want to do is turn of the LED when in DND mode or on charge at night...

I found this app that is a plugin for tasker that was initially written for the Galaxy S3, but I've tested it and it works for the S7 Edge and I'm using it for my night profile.

Set up a profile for DND and use State->Variables->Variable Value->find "Interrupt Mode" in the list of variables (or manually type %INTERRUPT)
Depending on the DND mode, the values are either ALL, PRIORITY, ALARMS, or NONE
If you want the profile to activate on any DND mode, use %INTERRUPT neq ALL
Then make your task and use the LED controller plug in and under configuration set everything to off. Then create an exit task and set all of the items under "LED Settings" to on.
The DND profile runs non stop whether I'm in DND or not
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
I've tried different operators. Some keep the DND profile running regardless of the state and others stay off regardless...

I did eventually figure it out - i just could not get to the CORRECT notification access settings page...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2117829
I used the plug-in and just created a profile to turn off the LED during a specific time period, which is the same time period I have DND activated.
The plug-in reference in post #2 is no longer available in the Play Store. Does anyone have a copy of it they could post here, or send to me? I accidentally deleted it off my phone.
Edit: Never mind, I found it here:
