Left hand Button Short press for Options - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hate the new system where you have to long press for options and short press gives you task manager (Which I never use).
Is there a way to revert it?

I assume it requires root which I do not have.

Yes, root only, and you'll need the xposed framework. .. well worth doing, and the first thing I installed when I got my phone yesterday! I now have menu options on the left key how it should be!

Try another file manager to install apk`s or try clearing data of the Solid Explorer app in settings/apps.

Most sounds are read off the oggs located in system/media/audio/ui
You'll see your file there. You can replace the file if you want. I have mine say, "You are weak. You must feed." It's off the Soul Reaver game back in the PS1 days.

You can disable it by installing the Xposed framework then installing the Xposed Tweakbox module.

There is an application for that:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsideout.silentbattery
You do not need to "root" or "jailbreak" your phone to use this app.
It will work directly, on any smartphone.

yes you can use it but you cant replace the stock task manager with it
You can however in cyanogenmod roms choose what app to launch when you hold the home button therefore you can select any app including a 3rd party task manager to launch on long button home press
Also questions go in the question and answer section
The dev section is for posting dev related work - eg roms and source codes
Therefore I will get this thread moved
edit - thread moved

Autorun management on Android Lollipop

Ever since updating my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0, I've found that you can't manage startup. I tried Clean Master, Autostarts, and Autorun Manager, but none of them works.
Please assist me in finding a solution. Thanks.
Anybody? Well, can the "Autorun" in the thread title be changed to "Startup" at least?

you can use app ops, the lastest version can do that
Do you mean the one by Lars Team? I just tried that, but disabling an autostart doesn't stick, it's enabled again when I recheck.

you can use this app to remove the permissions and it does not require root too..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.heagoo.apkpermremover&hl=es_419
Does that manage startup entries? Doesn't look like it, and App Ops seem to manage permissions fine.
Greenify?

You can remove the unnecessary permissions like boot with the phone...
Greenify is an option, but I'd rather not depend on another running process... Oh well, have to make do with it for now.
Just tried APK Permission Remover. It requires you to uninstall, then reinstall the app. Too much trouble keeping up-to-date.
Simply deactivate the app.

Just flash Pie Patch
you should just flash the pie patch via recovery, it solves a lot of the problems root apps have in lollipop, including the startup one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/fix-bypassing-pie-security-check-t2797731
Sounds risky and unclear, maybe someone else can try?

I agree, you should try it first, let us know how it goes...
What do you know, they just started working again for me... Didn't patch anything, just updated normally.
Autostarts has been updated to support lollipop.
Kingroot, but its also do more than I need.

Double tap to wake????

Hi guys, I'm using C.M12.1 on my A6010 device. I wonder if there is any kernel that allow double tap to wake. For further information, my rom is 64 bit version. Thanks for reading.??

What option of gravity box that support double tap to wake? I though it just simply change your status, notification, etc. I'm sure It will not support it. Just kernel. I had installed xposed and gravity box already.

P/s: According to that video, I don't see any option about double tap to wake. Don't know why you showed it to me.
May be it in cm13
i attached screen shot from my phone, i installed gravity box for lollipop . just open gravity box ,and select lock screen tweaks from main screen . that's it
lol he was asking for double to wake, you showed him double tap to sleep. hahahaha

Hey. Thanks for helping. But did you notice my title? I said "double tap to wake" not "double tap to sleep". LOL. I can easily do that without using gravity box. Just install nova launcher, arrow launcher, etc

I don't think so. No matter what your android version is. All you need is a custom kernel which has that function.
i'm sorry my bro, i'm not a geek , i just wanna help u . and i really didn't notice that , i thought double tap to sleep will allow u to double tap to wake up the device.
