Power Line Communication - Networking

I ve got a plc adapter of d-link(DHP-P306 ).Ι had a successful internet connection in three different rooms.Suddenly.i lost connection and since then I am randomly connected, except for the pc that is in the same room with the router.I ve set up the adapters through a process that i found in various websites(pushed the safety button to synchronize adapters). But still i ve got problem( Huston)!! Is there any hint?

any thoughts?

Hi buddy
Actually I had a similar problem, and then I noticed that the PLC from D-Link have a power saver mode that, if you don't use it for a certain amount of time (mine is 5 minutes) it will cut the internet connection. For me, 5 minutes is the most moronic thing they could have done, so whenever I don't use the internet for 5 minutes, it closes the connection, even if I'm logged in my PS3 session, it just stop working. I have noticed that this is in various d-link models, maybe that's the same issue with yours?

what is more..i turn on my computer that is connected to a plc adapter.i have an internet connection.if another computer, that is in another room, turns on then i lose my connection.its like the other pc "steals" my connection's power.
another incident,if i remove the laptop's plug and i use only the battery then i can be connected.like there is not enough power for energy and sign transmission simultaneously.
any idea for causes and solutions??

some idea?

Can't reconnect to 3G/GPRS on T-Mobile

I am a Vario II user on T-Mobile in the UK (is it healthy to love your phone?).
It connects to the Net flawlessly using either 3G or GPRS. But if I disconnect from the Net (by pressing the red phone key a couple of times - the 3G/G icons disappears) then I am unable to connect again - sometimes until I switch off my device (a "hard" switch off) or at least for several hours.
Is this normal behaviour? Should I disconnect from 3G/GPRS or just leave it connected? If I do disconnect (it saves battery life and reduces heat in the device), how do I reconnect?
Thanks in anticipation of a reply.

No, its not normal behaviour - I have a Vario II on T-Mobile UK and it connects and disconnects perfectly. Unless you have fiddled with the registry, I don't think it should be necessary to disconnect manually - there is an inactivity timeout and it will drop the connection automatically after a while.
Have you loaded any non-standard software? Before getting my Vario II, I had a T-Mobile MDA and it suffered the symptoms you describe with some non-standard diallers loaded...
Martin
The only software that I can think of is Skype (for Pocket PC) and I don't think that that's the problem. And I haven't "fiddled" with anything in the registry.
Maybe I just shouldn't disconnect from the Net and let it go down "naturally" as you say you do. This seems to drain the battery but it's preferable than being permanently disconnected.
Don't suppose there is an alternative way of resetting the comms without physically switching off my device (this always clears the problem - until the next time!).

Well, on the few occasions I have had a connection problem, turning off the phone section via the top-right button in the communications manager and back on again has solved it...

Thanks for this. I'll give it a try.
In the meantime, I've left my 3G/GPRS connection running - how long should it take before it drops "naturally"? I last used my device about 4 hours ago but it's still connected!
Hmmm, I must say that the timeout does seem much longer than it was with WM2003 on a Magician - I cannot see too much of a pattern to it, I'm afraid.
Martin
Problem solved!
I stopped all running programs - and I could disconnect and reconnect! I guess it was one of my programs. I will experiment to see which one was causing the problem. Most likely candidate is Skype. But I also regularly run Fizz Traveller, which might also cause the problem.
It's Skype
Skype is the problem. If I stop this program running I can reconnect to 3g/GPRS without problems. If I run it and try to connect - nothing. Don't know if Skype is aware of this issue?

why live messenger not using the WiFi connection????please help

i am using the live messenger and connected to the internet through WiFi but it refused to use this connection and connect through the gprs.....please help
did M$ do a favour for the operators? I've experienced this, too...
If phone is switched off in the conn manager, then it's able to use the WiFi connection.
It favours the GPRS connection because the Windows Live services are designed to stay connected while you are signed in. Something that would not happen with WiFi as you can turn your device off, or lose the WiFi signal if you moved out of range and so on.
I am under the impression that it will use WiFi if available, but it will always use GPRS to maintain the connection. Not sure how true this is though as I haven't looked at it with a data analyser.

not working with me too through ActiveSync connection
Not a cure for the problem. But this allows you to disable your GPRS while you are on WiFi
http://www.modaco.com/New-FREE-Utility-t246171.html
On mine I just press cancel when the gprs connection pops up and it uses wifi after that.
They talked about it on one of the WM blogs. I can't find the link at the moment, but they said it was because the WiFi chipsets used too much power for always on connection so they forced it to use the phone. Apparently the phone chipset can be in low power mode but only power up when it receives data but the wifi chipset couldn't.
I found that even clicking cancel connection, it would keep trying to connect until it got through, then it would always send data over the phone.
On the other hand.... the reasons they gave for not allowing activesync over wifi were that it would be "insecure".
so there you have it... it's not allowed either because they are trying to save your precious battery... or they are keeping you safe and protected from the nasty people out there.
or it's a big conspiracy.

How I solved Wifi problem

Lately I have been reading many post related to Wifi problems in the HD. I had the same. Even I was very near my router I couldn't connect to the net and the signal was very weak.
So I entered my router configuration and I found a solution.
Before, for security options I had: WPA-PSK [TKIP] then I changed to WPA2-PSK [AES] (of course you also have to change your HD connection configuratoin), and now it works great¡¡¡¡
Now I have all the bars for the signal and I can connect very easily.
Hope it works for other people
I have a similar WiFi connectivity problem, but after reading of the poor service provided by most vendors and HTC itself, I will try to gather some more experience with the problem before I contact HTC or my vendor, and hopefully find a solution. Bellow is my experience so far:
I own an HTC Touch HD since January and have a similar problem, only it surfaced last week. Before I had only used the WiFi connectivity briefly. The problems started after I installed an AP on my house expressively for the new PDA. The node is fully open and set to B/G/N protocols.
After a couple days of medium (couple hours per day) use the WiFi connection suddenly quit, the device would try to connect (the top bar showing the WiFi connection animation continuously) and after a few moments gave up with a dialog box stating the current network settings were wrong (even thou they worked fine a few hours earlier).
I tried several hot and cold resets, but only solved the problem after flashing a new ROM; even then the same symptoms reappeared after a couple of days of regular use. Again no re-setting would cure the problem, and now not even flashing the ROM again would work. Nonetheless, some hours latter the WiFi would connect perfectly with the same nodes it refused to before, and in very short time.
I have witnessed this cycle twice and have yet not been able to find a trigger for it, but will keep my eyes open for any tell tale signs, and post any findings here.
I could add to the above mentioned problems.
i got a new hd just few days back.
The wifi worked great. But now it doesnt.
I have disabled wifi, so can start it whenever i require.
I click on wifi button to enable it.
Then open opera, try any website.
it will open fine.
For instance say my email at gmail.com
Now after that if i try to open anysites or even continue with my mail, it shows error saying connection not available.
One of the workaround is to go back to toggele wifi off and switched it on.
Not sure if anyone faces a similar issue.
I's been about a week since my last post and I have already witnessed a couple of cycles of WiFi connecting perfectly and then not connecting at all.
No matter the settings I try after it decides not to connect, it won't. Even to nodes it had connected perfectly and fast jus minutes before.
I thought re-flashing might help but so far has proven ineffective. Once I thought some part of the non-volitile memory was causing the problem since after I cleared the memory I could connect for a while.
Any thoughts anyone?
Same problems here.
For the last hour I have been reading 10ths of threads here concerning WiFi problems.
My HD's WiFi worked fine on my home and outside for about 2 months. Now it doesn't. It reports connection, but no program can use the internet. At best, it seems to be able to exchange some Kbytes the for just a few seconds after a connection is established. Then nothing. Connected but unusable.
Tried everything Internet/My Work/My ISP, WAP enabled/disabled, soft/hard reset, everything.
When connected through ActiveSync everything works fine, all programs see internet.
Has anybody taken their HD to the service? Has any HTC service worldwide identified the problem as hardware and solved it by replacing something?

I have just encountered a similar problem, but already used wpa/wpa2 with aes. Have tried a hard reset with no joy. My old HTC Touch has no probs connecting via wifi nor does my laptop so I would surmise that the prob is with the HD and not the router.
I am going to try flashing with the latest version of Duttys 6.1 rom and see what gives.
Edit: Tried flashing with new rom with no success. Take a look at this post.

There are a couple of files to download but i only used the second ie this one.

Now no problems and can connect via wifi no probs, ip address assigned by dhcp.
Try to go into WiFi settings and move the power slider to max performance. I need to do it here to access my router. This happened also with my HTC TyTN II, with any recent radio firmware. The original WM 6.0 ROM and it's radio work fine in low power mode, but the new ones appear connected but are always at 1 Mbps and there's no traffic until you move the slider to performance mode.
You go into WiFi settings and you configure manual IP and DNS so as router.
DNS is important.
Whit manual configuration, Wifi work always.
(sorry for my english)

This is not a solution. I didn 't buy the device to be able to connect to my home WiFi only. What about public hotspots? Or hotels? Or whatever outside your home?

Hero Wi-Fi Connection Issues

I've had these issues ever since I bought the phone, but basically the data over WiFi just seems inconsistent. When I first connect via WiFi, it seems okay, but then after about 10 minutes or if I open the browser, it will just stop working completely. Sometimes it will work again if I disconnect and reconnect, but usually I just keep it off. I was hoping the official 2.1 update would fix this, but I have the same issues. Any ideas??

I have had problems similar to this with my phone the entire time I've had it. Yes, I discovered the "Always On" setting under wi-fi about two weeks after the phone came out.
I personally believe my phone just has some kind of hardware wi-fi problem, as it doesn't seem to be a common issue. My phone is actually slower on wi-fi than on 3G. I only get about 600 kbps down and 400 kbps up on wi-fi. Also, while running the Speedtest app, my speeds are very sporadic on wi-fi, and the little needle jumps all over the place.
Thanks for the replies! I see the option. The wording is strange though... "specify when to switch from wifi to mobile data" Does that mean it would only use wifi for 15 minutes at a time then switch back to 3G? That is weird... Can't understand why you wouLd want to do that... Battery maybe...
your router. that makes a MASSIVE difference in speed and reliability.
great example, i had a dlink i would get great speeds, 5-10 mbps on speed test. but after 15 min of no use it goes into sleep mode where my phone cant turn it back on so i have to reconnect every time. i sold it
got a newer cisco. i get 69-100 kbps but it doesnt sleep. its all about settings. search the router ip (i.e. 192.168.1.1-linksys) mess with wifi settings. helpsss aloottt

[Q] Desire Z looses Data link following USB Internet Pass-through.

Hi,
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue so here goes.
I regularly connect my Desire Z to my PC in Internet Pass-through to get data for updating apps and Navdroid map updates.
No problem connecting and the data throughput is great.
However, once I have disconnected the phone from the PC I have lost 3G/HSPD connectivity. The only way to get these back is to restart the phone.
I have tried turning on Airplane mode, and then turning it off - no success.
I also tried turning off data and then turning it back on - no success there either.
Is this a known issue or has anyone else come across it. Anyone found a solution if they have, bar restarting the phone that is.. ?
Thanks,
Des. . . ; )
Yeh this also happens to me, though only sometimes. Unfortunately, all I've been able to figure out in terms of fixing it is just restarting.
Data connection is not the only thing that glitches for me with internet pass through, sometimes the other types of USB connection stop working as well (e.g. the phone will not be seen by my windows machine when put into removable drive mode after being in internet pass through) until I restart. Essentially, even though internet pass through does not always cause problems I always restart after using it since it seems to be good at glitching other things out and probably messes up things I don't even notice at first.
This has happened to me several times...
What I noticed is that whenever I disconnect the phone while it is in Internet Pass-Through mode, I couldn't get my mobile data connection to work afterwards..
So before disconnecting, maybe you can try changing your USB connection mode, say, to Charge Only. When disconnecting from that mode, mobile data works.. at least in my experience..
Hi,
Might be worth a try, that. Czechton can you try and see what sort of results you get?
Thanks,
Des. . .
I will second that - this problem occured for me everytime I connected the phone in the "internet pass through mode" - I also noticed (although I did not keep track to check if this solves the problem EVERY time) that if I change to the "charge only"
mode and then disconnect - I get back my mobile data connectivity back
