You can flash any ftf firmware with flashtool. The bootloader does not get unlocked if you flash a firmware.

Thanks for your upload..I doanloaded the 3 parts and put them into the firmeware folder and I went flashingmode but the flashmode seems not to see them...so is it normal to have 3 parts? Sorry to ask..this is my first Sony and I find it quite hard to root the phone...I have a TELEKOM_DE branded phone but simfree, please let me know if I can install your tft and how?
I uploaded a screenshot as well.

You need to unpack the three parts with 7zip, the output will be a single ftf file which should go to the firmware folder.
I had to split it into 3 parts due to upload restrictions (max 500MB per file)
BTW: flashing this rom will not root your phone.

Version 2.7.121 is current latest dualrecovery, yes. You can also follow my guide over here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2642081 ), it's the same rooting procedure but more detailed. I've got Clockworkmod stuck on my phone from the seller I bought it from and didn't tell me. If I flash one these ROMs, will it kill Clockwork and put the stock Sony recovery tool back (which is the goal)?

After flashing the ftf file can i recive futures updates directly from Sony?

I have orange branding and my customization number is other that from this thread.
If i unbrand with this rom and in my phone will other customization of rom than phone so what about warranty?
it is ok with sony policy?
i want be sure that this operation dont avoid my warranty

What files to use?
Hi, just picking up on this - I also want to root my Xperia Z1c wihtout unlocking BL. DE Firmware would be optimal, so I found this message but I am wondering which files to use in steps 9 and 12 instead of the ones described in the guide.
For starters, I currently am at Model D5503, Build 14.3.A.0.757 stock, unrooted, locked BL.

I thought Generic Nordic is the same as Generic World? There was a discussion a while back that talked about how there isn't such a thing as "generic world" even though it's always referred to as that.
whats differnt in this version pls

I'm sorry, it's not so easy..... you have to root with recovery, and after that load a zip file with cwm. That's how i did it, and the way it works for me.

Can u provide a step by step instruction if you have time to write down?
I have an lt 15i, bootloader unlocked: yes, and now i am on lt15i 4.04 FR version.
What i did is:
flash the phone with a lt15i 4.04 FR edition with 562 kernel inside (it is on this forum)
start the phone with a lot of errors
root the phone with one click root. OK
put the phone to flash again and flash only the 4.04 kernel (ONLY, it is also on this forum)
at the end i started the phone, now i have a 4.04 FR version, rooted and with 431 kernel..but from pieces.
The removal process of FR bloatware it works ONLY with root explorer software.
Now i see there is a generic world firm but no easyroot process.
how to root ??? ( i want to install this generic world from one piece).
Big thank you
If you have bootloader unlocked and want root.
1. Download http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680793
2. fastboot.exe boot boot.img (This command won't flash the kernel just boot it)
3. Download Superuser from http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip and flash it.
4. Rooted
I might aswell upload a prerooted system.img file, anyhow both methods requires bootloader to be unlocked.

How is the touch screen response ?
I flashed mine with 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 for LT18i and the touch screen was horrible for games (Max Payne, Dead Space, NOVA1,2&3...etc...) in both the cases. (display driver problem i think due to mismatch)
Is it smooth in this version ?

Installed yestaerday and no issues if you do it right, like I did. After unpdate you can also unlock the bootloader, without losing camera, and you are ready for next step, Rooting. To rooting 4.3 at the moment is necessary unlock bootloader. If you follow this steps you will be fine, waiting for the root release for 4.3 but in the same moment you will enjoy your phone updated.

No, the FTF 4.3 you can flash without be rooted and with Locked Bootloader like me. At the moment there is not relased any app like Vroot to root Android 4.3. Was relased only another FTF already rooted (Have bugs, they still testing) but to flash that Update Rooted you have to Unlock the Bootloader. So that's why I was telling you to Update to 4.3 and later Unlock Bootloader. If you unlock bootloader in 4.2.2 you will lose the camera, but the 4.3 fix that and also you can Unlock later after update and do not lose the camera. At the moment you don't have to do that because any type of rooting 4.3 is in developing so is up to you. It's your choice.

Very good. The most amazing thing is the battery, very well improved. Still stock anyway but smooth and clean, no bloatware and a little bit more free ram. You will be happy. Use Flashtool 0.9.13 and flash. Take off sim and sd before do that.

Do not matter what you have now, you will losing the root anyway. You have to flash in default, just like that. To make a fresh install you have to wipe data, cashe and appslog. Install Flashtool 0.9.13 and put the FTF in flashtool folder "Firmwares". Turn-off you phone, keep pushing, all the time, volume down when you connect the usb, wait to install windows drivers, when windows drivers are done run flashtool, keep pressin volume down, click flash on left side, select the firmware and flash again at the right bottom, keep pushing volume down until the flash green bar at the bottom will not start. Done. The windows of flashtool have to be set up like in the picture.
Dont worry i trust your guide and i dnt mind lossin' my apps...i already finish downloading the ncb firmware i will flash this later..i hope sony will put "move data to sdcard" in settings, in there nxt release of firmware..need to sleeo first mate i'll PM you for my reserved questions..

Sigh.
Dear God, will the Z1 never have a normal/easy rooting method like it did on 4.2.2 with vRoot? I'm an amateur at best. I don't want to downgrade (which I heard could break the IMEI or something), or unlock my bootloader (which seems like an awful lot of trouble). Someone please tell me it's possible... I've been walking around with a non rooted phone longer than I'd like. My S3 and note 10.1 were a breeze to root. I don't even remember having any trouble rooting them... Why is it so hard to root the Z1!?!?

I think IMEI lose only occurs on Samsung Devices. Off course its possible on most other phones but it's far less unlikely that it will occur on the Xperia Z1.
By the way if you downgraded to 4.2.2 you would temporarily lose cellular use on your phone, you would need to update the baseband to the one that is packed with the latest update. But even that won't ruin your IMEI, just temporarily disable it.

use this ftf to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48555400&postcount=3 to .534. You won't "loose" Your IMEI.
Than root, install recovery and upgrade to .136.

I'm currently on 4.2.2 generic UK. Can I use this method to go directly to 14.2.a.1.136?

if you're rooted and have a working recovery there shouldn't be any problems. Just follow the steps in [NUT]'s thread.

I installed your rom and all is working fine: newest firmware with full root @ CE customization.
Thanks a lot.
thanks mate. I was asking yesteday to Nut to créate this or at least to tell me how to do it.. Could you tell me the process to change from baltic to central europe?. Cheers.
So to check.
If on 4.3 with full root and recovery.
Wipe
Flash rom
Load kernel via flashtool
Profit?
That simple?

Yep.
You can add another step to this. If you have a backup in TWRP.
After flashing via Flashtool reboot to system. After system boot reboot to recovery and flash the data partition backup (_only_). Then wipe Dalvik. You will end up with all Your apps+data
(This tip is from the previous version update. Again, thanks to [NUT] - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988 :good

after few days of VERY heavy Z1 usage (many root privileges being used) everything is smooth and stable. Fine job.

To tell you the truth: I don't know.
What I would do is:
1. Make TWRP backup.
2. Wipe everything.
3. Flash the zip.
4. Power off.
5. Flash the FTF via Flashtool.
6. Boot into system. After boot reboot to recovery.
7. Restore DATA partition ONLY. Wipe Dalvik.
8. Boot into system.
After that you end up with a clean install with all your apps+data.
HTH.

Mateusz

This works on ANY Xperia Z (C6603 & C6602).
Your Xperia Z does NOT have to be rooted.
Your Xperia Z does NOT have to be bootloader unlocked.
This does NOT re-lock a SIM unlocked phone (unlocking is ONCE and PERMANENT).
This does NOT unlock your bootloader
bro, is this tested? because i downloaded a commercial version recently and it is not being detected by flashtool as ftf. i can see my other ftf but not that one. i do not want to waste my time downloading for something not working, thats all. i just want to make sure this works.

You should remove the link to Flashtool 0.9.13.0 from your post, as firstly it's an old version and secondly it's considered bad manners at least to be hosting software that you didn't create.
Flashtool is available from www.flashtool.net

Ok, I've corrected. Thanks
thanks, done with the download, flashed, and seems good. though the lag which has been reported already is still present. but i just want to share with you guys, i notice that the NCB version seems to have less lags than this one. just a thought though, but for me, the difference is really observable. and so i am thinking of reflashing the NCB version.

my phone has already cosumed the 10 chaces for being unlocekd

[DEV][Thinktank]Root 23.0.1.A.0.167 FW on Sony Xperia™ Z2? (Android 4.4.4)

Today, the long-awaited update Android 4.4.4 for Sony Xperia™ Z2 is released.
Rejoice!
But, installing this update will overrun the root access. Root access will be gone. So, how to root 23.0.1.A.0.167 FW on Sony Xperia™ Z2?
I'm gonna try the same old "Easy Root Tool" and see what happens. Any ideas would be good!
-EDIT-
Do you want to update your Sony Xperia™ Z2 to 4.4.4 but don't want to lose root? Don't worry, you won't! Click "here"
Credits to @niaboc79
Also, thanks to @funky0308 and @Envious_Data for their work
-EDIT 2-
I got root on 4.4.4 on my own, using this guide, credits @norti
@niaboc79 's pre-rooted ROM was based on Generic RU and the NC feature wasn't working on it. So I wanted to download a brand new FTF with my customization number and followed the steps on the guide.
ZBAM!
Got my own .167 (4.4.4) ROM (Generic DE) with root on my Sony Xperia™ Z2.
we will find a way...
but you should definitely put question mark in title...
we are lucky to have older fw (I'm talking for LB, z3 can't be downgrade and they will have problems to root 4.4.4. I believe we could use older fw to root fw and to upgrade keeping root...
I'll upgrade later today and will try few things...
In the title a statement and not a question !! WTF
I thought u achieved root, wtf

I doubt...
Sony patched all those security holes and all those methods should be updated.
Of course, someone should try...
Can anyone confirm he upgraded D6503 to 4.4.4?
Wouldn't downloading the update through PC companion and making an ftf/downloading an ftf and then pre-rooting the firmware work? We have recovery for the phone so a pre-rooted flashable firmware should work without working exploits right?

In 30 minutes, I will. The update is downloading now. It's around 1.2GB.
Mod edit
As a few members noticed, the thread title was a little misleading, as it seemed like there already was a way to root the new firmware.
I changed the thread title to one that shouldn't mislead people.
OP, if you have any problems with this, or prefer a different title, please send me a private message or quote this reply.

4.4.4 for D6503 isn't out yet.
Don't bother to download that, it'll say it's 167 but you'll download 314 and flashing will stop immediately after downloading fw.

I didn't actually read any of the other replies to the thread. Mainly cause the main post was all about how could we root it.
It is possible to install the lockeddualrecovery from NUT? If yes we can use it for root

i guess this will be the option for now. Root .314 firmware, backup TA then flash 4.4.4 ftf. Plug the device to flashtool and unlock the BL, install Doomkernel (for recovery), flash supersu.zip, plug phone again to flashtool reflash stock kernel, boot the phone and it should be rooted then restore TA Backup.

You wouldn't even need to do that.
1) Root .314 firmware.
2) Install locked bootloader recovery.
3) Make a pre-rooted firmware of the 4.4.4 build.
4) Install the firmware through recovery.

Is it for the D6502 or D6503? If I was able to update my D6503 to 4.4.4 I would have done it but I have been plagued with the same problem as all the other D6503 owners. I'm just going to wait for a UK unbranded pre-rooted firmware (or a UK unbranded ftf, whatever comes first).
