Use greenify and hibernate the apps that u do not use. Alternately, you can go to task manager and clear memory to kill applications.

How much free RAM should I have?

What does everyone have for free RAM? I have between 320 - 400. Is this normal/average? Running rooted stock.

That's about it.
You don't have to worry about free ram, JB will take care of itself

As said, dont worry about the free memory, JB will manage it fine.
Dont use a task killer either for memory management, only to kill problem apps, and if an app is repeatedly a problem app, then uninstall it.
With Android, you are better off with apps in memory as they will launch/run quicker, free memory is wasted memory.
I agree with these post, don't worry about free ram. As long as a particular app isn't causing problems by taking up too much theres no need to really worry about memory. Unused memory is basically resources not being used.

Empty RAM uses electricity, and RAM used as cache is as static as empty RAM. It's not as if the system is turning off power to the modules that are unused. You'll see a negligible impact (if any) from having more free.
Edit: In fact, you may see the opposite if you aggressively free memory due to increased flash memory usage.

Cool, thanks for all of the info. I just wanted a point of reference, nothing was wrong.

Frm the screen shot it seems you have background processes running(BBM n alarms). If you are always on 3g/wifi then the battery draining is normal. Or you can buy a new one for your satisfaction. Or charge it fully n dont use it just check for successive draining and if it drains within minutes then buy a new one.
Turn of features like google now and google location reporting. They consume hell lot of memory. Install greenify.

Try to check your battery if it is swollen...this is the big down of s4..
Or maybe a bad flash of your rom if u have
I'm using lindroid rom and i experienced good battery life. I also tried thunder_universe rom and thorvicc did a good job...
Try also one of any custom rom it might solve your problem
thanks to all
thanks to who want to help me
i use official rom

I never use task killer, memory booster or other similar apps on my old slow note 1. The app itself will consume ram.
Maybe because I like more to reflash rom if it tends to get slower so I could be bias.

I only use the clear ram option from the taskmanager (google put it in there), and Greenify to kill useless apps.
People can say it's bad all they like. When your device starts alowing down, the keyboards lag and apps crash, and clearing the RAM solves the problems, experience speaks more loudly than theory.
So what if that means Facebook takes a whole 2 seconds more to launch?

1 Gb Total Ram?

Hy guys new to this forum
i recently purchased SM-G7102 (dual sim) . Once going through the specs i noticed it shows just 890 mb of total ram in apps and cpu-z whereas it's written all over it has 1.5 gb ram. I really don't understand why is it so. Checked thoroughly for counterfeit or clone but i guess it's original Samsung device and getting oficial software updates too. Stock samsung pre installed apps are working fine just this issue of ram is bothering me.
Any help and advice will be much apreciated.
Thanks.

Only 865 MB instead of 1,5 GB RAM?
I checked the RAM of my SM-G7102 (Grand 2 Duos) with CPU-Z, version 1.26. Only 865 MB of RAM is displayed.
Is this correct?
