Good to see someone confirm it, I never doubted it'd be released for us though. I'm sure it'll take time. I feel bad for the Xperia Z owners on T-Mobile who almost got 4.3 and then it was pulled, I hope they get their update soon. It would help the Sony name here in the US. It not getting updates would hurt them.

I hope that they "fix" all the issues that Z1 owners have been experiencing before it is released to us!

That's my thought. I haven't really had any issues with our 4.3. I'm hoping the 4.4 we get is also stable and bug free...

I went to that site directly and I don't see the April 10th certification. Only for Dec 2nd,10th,2013. Did they pull it back or is it still there?

I don't think the GPS will ever be perfect. I am just hoping all the random reboots are finally gone. I found it is more related to battery power. As my battery got below 30% and my memory was cleared out. It rebooted once an hour until I put it on charge then no more reboots.
No more leaks! Lol. Yes, there nice to know that its still being update. But give it up samsung, you'll never get it perfect. Our devs are better than yours

You mean SamSprint. Samsung released Gingerbread to Galaxy S series in Europe months ago. My guess is FCC restrictions in the US make Sprint and Samsung (as well as the other US carriers) work together to make it conform. Thus the modem issue.

The FCC is primarily concerned with hardware - I have no idea how they would have anything to do with holding back a software upgrade.

Not sure but that would be the only difference with Galaxy S series in the US and in Europe. Of course if the FCC has caused restrictions in our hardware that makes the European version of Gingerbread not compatible, there would be the connection.

Your order has been cancelled

I had this phone on pre order since around the 25th of June, coming from a Galaxy Nexus to a phone from Samsung which I thought had a good history of not completely ruining their devices, and now hearing the news I have cancelled my order and will wait until this issue is bypassed/fixed. I will stay with my Galaxy Nexus which is completely open.
I hear you concern man but you didn't really need to make another thread for that

You do realize that it most likely wasnt samsung's fault considering it was released globally and on all other US carriers unlocked.. So dont blame Samsung.. Blame your carrier.. Yes,the nexus is open but that's because it's a google device. I'm sure if Verizon could have locked that baby up they would have but I'm sure they had an agreement to keep it open if they were going to offer the device.
so you should change that to say because of "Verizons poor decisions"
I'm so confused.

new firmware update today - whats new?

today I got an OTA update notice about a firmware update (size 8.7mb). As I have rooted my phone I really dont want to install it unless I get something useful. The update info just says "improved stability".
Has anyone tried to install this update and knows what it adds?
How are we supposed to know it? You did not tell us the region or carrier? You did not mention your current firmware version?

Look under settings/about phone.
Here you find your current firmware details. If you combine this information with what carrier you are using and try searching either XDA or simply Google it I'm sure you will find something. There are lots of forums out there that does nothing but discuss these things.
In short, search!

So I am not tripping. I noticed it being quite a bit smoother after my update. Which is scary. I can't imagine how smooth it can be with Jelly Bean.
But as has been said this update might be an old update .
Update with no details of what firmware does not exist and is a pointless post and for all we know may just be yet another dumb hoax .

I did get the update via OTA but no information regarding firmware or such, just "performance upgrade".
So here are my findings so far:
The battery time sucks, big time.
When you insert head phones you don't get the notification that phones are inserted. In notifications you don't get the start music options that were point before the update.

Now it has build 2.17.401.1
So when the official update will come from htc, will the build number will be same as leaked 4.2.2 by mike?
And what does that different build number means in real life??

hmmm good question. But upon further inspection 2.18.401.1 and 2.17.401.1. are not the same number. I dont think?
Which CID will thus be for, so I know which RUU to flash to get it, does anybody know?

I'm beginning to suspect the way the firmwares are "leaked" to roms, and later for a more updated build to be pushed before any rom has it.
Maybe they take advantage of XDA (in a good way) and use it as one hell of a QA team? And we're actually willing.
Don't get me wrong, I like this approach.
