Confirmed by HTC USA & UK, 1.12 most definitely does NOT have the Extreme Power Saving Mode (Which HTC Australia are so insistent that it does) 1.54 enables this mode.
As of now, HTC Australia, from what they've told me, have no idea about this 1.54 OTA, yet HTC USA & UK know all about it. Doesnt seem like much we can do as far as official updates goes, unless in the next few weeks they have an epiphany lol.
Until then, 1.54 for Aussie users will just have to be custom ROM.

OK guys, I called HTC today and they've advised that the Australian Unbranded & Carrier branded M8's with software revision 1.12 SHOULD ALREADY have the Extreme Power Saving Mode and SHOULD NOT require the 1.54 OTA Update.
This is the opposite of the info I'm sure many of us have read in these forums and elsewhere online.
If you own an Australian M8 with software version 1.12 and DO NOT have the Extreme Power Saving Mode, you need to call HTC and let them know. I'm still waiting on the outcome of the info I sent them today but they seem pretty certain we don't need an update and should already have this option.
If you have an Australian M8 on either 1.12 or 1.54 software version and you DO have the Extreme Power Saving Mode, then please let us know.

Anyways, I have an unbranded outright version from Harvey Norman. But i seem to be missing "Extreme Power Saving mode" and also I'm on the older 1.12 firmware with CID HTC_39. Has anybody in Australia got the 1.54 firmware OTA yet? let me know =D

Mine is not from a carrier. It's unbranded. I have an Optus SIM in atm. I wish they'd push the update for non carrier handsets already
[UPDATE] - OK so i just called HTC and they said the update is currently being pushed out in small batches for Australian Unbranded M8 handsets and should receive it within a week =D

Yeah I bought mine unbranded from Harvey Norman and mine on the box says it's a Snapdragon 801 2.5ghz. However Antutu X app says the same speed but tells me it's a Snapdragon 800... Hmm

CPU-Z knows about the 801. The other app doesn't seem to.
Purchased one from Telstra on the 1st loving it so far, upgraded from a Sony z1 (great phone just not in the same league) Enjoying stock atm so I might wait for fairly stable cm before going custom.

Telstra RUU
Hi Guys,
Anyone got the Telstra RUU for the M8, got a bit over eager and then worked out you need stock to get the 50GB Google drive offer. Have tried re-locking etc still with no luck so will take a run with the RUU and see how that goes.

I just gave my HTC Panache aka glacier to my mom. I unlocked the phone using a website and got unlock code. Now when i put her sim, i get a limited service message. I've looked on the net for at least 10 hours for a solution and this is my last resort.
I don't know why, when i put my old videotron sim it work fine, but as soon as i put any other sim, i get a limited service message on the phone.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Compare the contact surface on your videotron SIM and hers. Are they the same?

Hmm, then I don't know. If the SIM is of the correct type it should work.
ive seen on the net that this problem is not uncommon. Although i havent found any solution. I had a Galaxy S II and now III and rooting was pretty easy, but how is it on this phone? I wanna try flashing a new radio, maybe that will help me but i saw that rooting a glacier is not for the faint hearted. is there any "easy" way?
I dont think there really is an "easy" way, the downgrade method is more time consuming than difficult

Everything. You will need to fool the bootloader into thinking the froyo PD15IMG.zip is newer than the Gingerbread you have installed. Then you flash it. Sounds easy and it can be if you follow the directions perfectly.

I just realized you have a panache. Visionary wont work for temp root. You can follow the gfree guide, but substitute gingerbreak for visionary.

The red one is the one i want and the yellow is the stock videotron sim. Does this mean i can't do anything or do i still have hopes of giving this phone to my mom?

Damn, now i'm worried because if i google Virgin Sim Card, all i see it those square one like in the picture i posted, no rectangular one
The Panache doesn't work on Virgin Mobile because it uses Bell's network which runs on 850/1900 HSPA, while the Panache is only able to connect to AWS bands or 1700/2100 HSPA bands. Bell also does not have a 2G or GSM network so you can't connect to that either. Simply put it, the Panache will not work on Virgin Mobile.
The Panache will only work on Mobilicity, Wind Mobile or Videotron on HSPA, or Rogers and Fido on GSM.
This is speaking under the assumption that you are in Canada since you own a Panache.

If you care about S-OFF don't take this OTA (or any OTA) until finding out if this patches known S-OFF exploits.
It might not break S-OFF. It might not break anything.
But until you *know* what it does (which is something you learn by waiting a few hours and then reading reports from people who have actually taken the OTA) you should really resist the urge.
Oh, I success OTA update with S-OFF + LOCKED bootloader + stock recovery + rooted, after update I use Voodoo OTA ROOTKEEPER to resrore root, excellent.

I only cared about s-off to convert my att model to the US dev version... Which I did (yay). Therefore I decided to be a guinea pig on this one... I went ahead with the update and it doesn't appear to change anything... Hboot is still 1.44.0000 it didn't change my s-off status. That's not to say that they didn't still patch the s-off exploits used to initially get s-off, it just means that if your already s-off it won't change it back to s-on. At least it didn't on my phone.
Got the update earlier tonight on my Dev Edition as well and just checked to see if this update fixes the bug where the phone's lockscreen misbehaves if you have the Accessibility Service enabled for an app (like the Pebble Smartwatch app or Lightflow) but it doesn't. Damn it! Wish they'd fix this bug.

I think it's failing because the CID needs to be BS_US001 which the OTA is checking. Try changing it and see what happens.

Same problem here, if anyone know some fix pls post it.
My phone is the exact specs with exact baseband and all, but the Wifi is not working after flash. Apparently it shouldn't! because "You can't get WiFi work by just restore TWRP backup. You need to flash Lollipop firmware.zip that come from official OTA zip."
Now, looking for that

i downloaded this type of RUU for version asia WWE 2.30.707.1 and not work for me....cant flash with fastboot or htc_fastboot....size of ruu very high and fastboot cant install here.....this type of RUU is combined RUU and i dont know how install it.....

Please post your flash log...
Did you reboot your device to RUU mode and relock bootloader?
And please use htc_fastboot (v3.0.9.2), don't use google fastboot or other out of date fastboot executables.

finaly worked and device back to last ota Stock
i try flash with SD card (u1 version)
sd card format with fat32
rename zip file to 0PK7IMG and put here in root of sd card
start device with power and volume down and phone detected rom automatic
press volume up to start flashing
wait to finish and press power in end of setup device shutdown

I purchased an HTC U Ultra device but the seller sent me by mistake the Chinese version with no google play services and only English or Chinese languages.
I already unlocked the bootloader according to htcdev site guide.
I want to be able to change the system firmware totally to one that have built in Google play services and multilingual, prefer the ability to have future automatic updates from HTC.
Is that even possible ?
I already installed ADB and Fastboot and flashed TWRP.
1) Is the S-off necessary ?
2) is Rooting necessary ?
3) What do you recommend ?

Later I tried flashing gapps but the device stop working.
After that flashed this ROM:

It is now working good but seems that I will not be able to get HTC official updates.
