resolution... - Nexus Q Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

its been asked before, but not with the crew we now have. How does one change the resolution on the q's? the factory image is 720, and cyanogen is 1080, so it must be possible... i can't find anything in build.prop.

I'd like to ask the same question. I have a TV which for some reason can't output what CM10 is sending to it. My tv shows only an "invalid data" message. The factory rom works well, so I was hoping that using this resolution would help me.

change wallpaper in all tabs?

is it actually possible to change wallpaper (I mean a 480x800 pic) in all touchflo tabs?
Yes, do a search in this forum using your own title - you should get your thread and one other that will give you enough information to try it out.
Be warned though, the end result is slightly disappointing - the source image has to be 256x256 apparently - so you will need to take your 480x800 image and resample it to this size. The HD doesn't seem great at restoring the image without losing a bit of quality. Maybe there is a better way but I haven't found it yet!

yes I yet known that thread but I don't like that 256x256 result, I hope as soon as possible will be available a full customization of HD touchflo.
however thanx for the answer man
Yes, it should be that way. Don't understand the 256x256 limit and might see what happens if you use a bigger image. Seems a terrible waste on a device like the HD

[Q] density change

have anyone succesfully tried to changed pixel density on our device? if you did, please leave a comment - i'd like to know which app and rom you used. thanks in advance.
btw. is it possible to lower the resolution on android devices? (resolution, not density, some people seem not to realise that these are two different things)

[SOLVED]Split screen

Hi again,
i have problem, my hp pavilion dv5 have 1280x800 screen and i cannot split screen in windows 8 like on screenshot. I know i must have min.1366x768 screen but maybe there is option to unlock this option in lower resolution.
Possible I guess. By using the resolution hack, I think you may achieve split screen. It's using the netbook screen res method, you hack the registry to show more screen resolution options. Gives you more, but it looks cramped, blurry, with uneven pixel density. That's putting more pixels than the actual screen may support. Another method you can use is plugging an external display that supports 1366x768 and up. This will definitely allow you to have that split screen.

res registry hack doesn't work anymore. Haven't found a way to do this yet.
Okay, solved. If you have nVidia you can add other resolution via nVidia Control Panel. Now I can split on my 1280x800 screen with resolution 1366x856
ATI Radion HD?
Hi all
I have the same native resolution as the OP but my laptop has an ATI Radion HD graphics card.
Does anybody know how to add an additional resolution with this type of card?
Thanks and God bless
andrew-in-woking
Check ATI software, maybe there is option to add the "adjusted resolution".
I checked it in nVidia software and Intel also ( HD 3000 ), and i can add other resolution ( higher than native ).
Regards
I use an nVidia based Graphics Card and this is how I change my resolution, in case anyone wanted to try it out! And yes, snapping works perfectly after this but your monitor might not display it all very clearly.
I have a Dell monitor as you can see in the screenshot running on a native resolution of 1280x1024, just like the OP's! \

What I have observed from using Split Screen is that, each app has a minimum running width of 1024px wide, anything lower and it will look cropped and uneven. So even if somehow the people at XDA bypass that option and allow snapping at lower resolutions, it will still look bad.
It's not such a great feature either, you keep getting confused on what's running and hard to concentrate on one app when there are two taking up the screen. Multitasking was made for the desktop version and it should stay that way in my opinion

CIA Bootanimation

I found the CIA bootanimation but it was showing the last pictures before the first ones. I fixed it. It is currently 720x1280 but I cannot correctly change the resolution. I change the numbers in the desc.txt but it doesn't work then. Anyway, this works but it is a little small. If anyone wants to correctly change the resolution, feel free to do so.

to change the resolution of the bootanim you have to do more then just edit desc.txt you have to edit the actual images that are part of it...

[BOOTANIMATION] NEW Leaked Android Nougat 7.0 Boot Animation

LEAKED MARLIN AND SAILFISH BOOTANIMATION
Info + Intro
via @@urmilshroff on G+ I have created my first project - a bootanimation based on this source. My version is a 1080p Manual install that works good on my Nexus 5 and OnePlus 3, both with 1080p displays. For my version of the project, I have "open sourced" it; resources available here.
These resources have allowed for projects for other devices, such as this port for 480p displays here, so you can feel free to use them too.
Mentions, honours and credits
@@urmilshroff for requesting the project in the first place.
@@androcraze for helping me out in the beginning and then continuing to maintain the project.
This should work for all 1080p and 720p devices.
Tell me what device you have if it worked for you.
Confirmed working on:
OnePlus 3
Nexus 5
Xiaomi Mi 3
Bugs and/or issues

Finally cleaned up OP, enjoy!
I really do appreciate your work, but could you not just cut the video on screenshot and make a config file how should they change(btw there is some sort of a mistake in its first part), but at least fullfil all screen in white color? It's not so hard to do and this write rectangle looks really... werid, I dunno...
And in my opinion, Google won't use white background for bootanimation in final release, or they would need to change the bootlogo for other supported nexus devices too :/

Thanks for the notice, just realised there's a bug in the beginning. I'll work to get that fixed.
Since this is my first boot animation I'm not really into developing yet, could you please further explain what you mean by config file?
Of course Google won't use a white background, but it's the only source I have gotten. I'll see if I can find a way to fill in the background.
This video, in fact, isn't screenshots, used a tool called ffmeg.
I, to some extent, made this to test my skills and whether I could do it for a guy on G+ (You may know him, he's called Urmil Shroff)
@ZeevoX thanks for your contribution, I will be posting the actual bootanimation.zip file soon in the Android Themes section, formatted perfectly for MM and LP devices.
Possibly even with the sound.

It is based on Google's original resources from my Marlin dump, so I have them at all resolutions.
Sounds have to be hacked I somehow.

Can you post a sample of your desc.txt?
The thing about "c's" vs. "p's" is that the c's are "timed" to system events, or at least I believe that they are:
Code:
p 0 0 part3
will never go past this line, yet:
Code:
c 0 0 part3
does, if some "milestone" is reached.
Different devices have different animation rollouts and structure. I always shy away from "c's", unless I'm modifying frames in an existing animation.

UPDATE: The animations in this thread are probably for a future version of Nougat, perhaps 7.1. The current Nougat animation is a derivative of the stock Marshmallow animation; the main difference is the "Google" text-logo at the beginning of the Nougat version. Both are very close. I have copies of both (and "maxed" versions) for 1080p in my boot animations thread (check my signature).
@ZeevoX has really done a great job getting the Nougat animation on the N5; he's put much work into converting things, and should be commended for both inspiration and perseverance.
He's more than welcome to use the above modifications in his thread, if they are acceptable. My main concern is whether they work on multiple platforms, not just the N5.
