Jolla phone vs nexus 4 - Sailfish General

So I'm searching response about a question over the Internet but I can't find any. It's convenient switch to a jolla phone coming to a nexus 4? Someone can share with me the impression having both the device? Thanks
Inviato dal mio Nexus 4 utilizzando Tapatalk

keep the nexus 4, buy a jolla.

I have both, nexus 4 running sailfish now and although it's early days its pretty functional
Nexus 4 is a good phone for experimentation as its well specced add abundant in the wild..,runs many android roms, FirefoxOS, sailfish, ubuntu and no doubt others
Sailfish support will be complete soon but its beta. Love my Jolla phone also! Less of a brick and I dislike phones with non replaceable batteries

Can anybody make a camera competition?

is it stable? i hope jolla will available here in the philippines..so that i can try something new..

i still like the design of jolla phone; but still the os looks like some old Android device; that's why am not interested in it. Anybody using jolla phone dude. how it is. please comment back. i wish to buy one

I came fron Nexus 5, and definitely love JP. But it's another way of living, lots of limitations, not so many apps (even with Android runtime), and of course it's still in its early days.
I wanted to get out of Apple/Google/whatever, this is my choice (keep in mind that for me the best phone ever is Nokia N900).:good:

I use the jolla phone from 8 months as my unique main device, and I LOVE it (I never swithc back to Android since there are the Jolla option); but there are some negative aspects: the camera is VERY poor, the screen is of the right size but it's quality and resolution isn't good for a end 2013 phone and the edges of the device it's a little too sharp.

Interesting... Since, on paper, the cameras on Jolla and N4 are in the same class it must be a software thing. Hope they are getting that sorted out. I mean, coming from Nokia they should be all over that camera with a quality software imaging package to match the lens.
Because the Jolla phone still isn't coming to the states yet, I'm betting on that N4 image. No camera yet. I guess we would get the CyanogenMod 10.1.3 camera???
I agree the Jolla needs a better screen resolution.

Buy Galaxy S4 or stick with Nexus 4 and buy iPhone 5?

Update:
I've been thinking long and hard about this dilemma for the last few days and I've finally made my decision...I'm just going to wait.
Next month when the S4 and HTC One are both released, I'm going to take a trip to the AT&T store and make a hands-on comparison between them and the iPhone 5. I'm not loyal to any brand (I've owned devices from all three companies, all of which have been great), so I'm just going to pick the one I like the best. What really made me begin doubting my choice to get an iPhone 5 is the large price for the 64gb version I would have to purchase in order to store my music collection. $400 is ridiculous for any phone on contract. However, if the S4 has subpar audio quality and the HTC One underwhelms me or AT&T doesn't offer the 64gb variant, I will more than likely be splurging for the iPhone 5. But, after thinking about it, I really don't want to. While messing with my Nexus 4 today, it hit me hard how much fun I've had with Android. It's the most powerful, dev-friendly mobile OS and it truly gives the user the ability to make their phone their phone. And I feel like purchasing an iPhone would be going against everything I've enjoyed with Android, even if I still do have a Nexus 4. So, if at all possible, I'll be purchasing either the S4 or the HTC One (I'm growing fonder of it with each passing day). But if the storage and sound quality expectations I have cannot be met, I will more than likely buy an iPhone 5 simply for the fact that I made a promise to myself that my next smartphone would also be my MP3 player.
I'd like to thank everyone who posted in this thread and helped me make my decision. Many of you actually did bring up some very helpful points and made me seriously consider what I should use my upgrade on.

I've been conflicted lately. My mom recently bought an iPhone 5 and I've sort of fallen in love with it. I'm no fan of the home screen (it is very, very boring), but the apps are amazing and the audio quality (both external and internal) is great. I'm also not very bothered by the screen size. In a way, moving to something smaller is slightly refreshing. However, it's still an iPhone and I think there's a possibility I could become bored with it...but when I consider this, I remember that I do have a Nexus 4, so I wouldn't be abandoning Android completely. And so here's my idea:
Option one - Keep Nexus 4 (I'm keeping it either way) and buy a Galaxy S4):
Benefits:
Both run Android, though one is skinned with many new features
The Galaxy S4 is a true flagship and should excel in all areas the Nexus 4 doesn't (camera, etc)
I'm sticking with one platform
Negatives:
Android is getting a little old to me and the Galaxy S4 might bore me even more than an iPhone 5 (I'm eagerly awaiting Key Lime Pie; the ICS/Jelly Bean look is wearing thin on me)
The S4 with the S600 (the one I'll be getting since I live in the states) will not have as good audio quality as the iPhone 5 (internal or external)
The Galaxy S4 isn't a huge upgrade over the Nexus 4 and could even be considered a "needless purchase" (not that I really care; I make a ton of those)
Option two - Keep Nexus 4 and buy an iPhone 5:
Benefits:
I get to keep up with the two largest mobile platforms
When I finally get a Mac Mini, I'll have integration with it
The apps are great
Audio quality is great
Build quality is amazing
I won't have to wait for updates through the carrier
I could keep up with Android through my Nexus 4
The battery life is probably longer than the S4's despite having a smaller battery
iOS is really smooth and browsing is honestly a pleasure (not that it's not on Android; I just find it to be a bit better on the iPhone 5)
If I end up hating it, I can sell it and buy a Galaxy S4 (I would buy a 64gb iPhone 5, so it would definitely cover the cost of the S4)
If I end up loving it and want to buy the next model, I can sell it on eBay at an 85% resale value (great thing about Apple products)
Negatives:
The iPhone 5 is six months old (I would have to sell it on eBay for the next model pretty soonish)
I'd maybe have to rebuy some apps
I would sort of be be betraying Android, an operating system that I truly love
I'd have to find a way to wifi-tether (but this might be a problem on a carrier version of the S4, also)
Anyway, can anyone help me out with my decision? And please don't say anything like "Get the S4! iPhones suck!" Actually observe what I have written above and help me decide what the best choice for me is. Because right now I am ridiculously confused and have no idea what I should use my upgrade on.
Only you can decide what's best for you. Follow your gut.

I would go with the Qualcomm S4. I personally see cyanogenmod as a must for my new phones. When I got my I9300, I didn't even check to see what the stock rom features were. Rooted it and install CM9 in 20 minutes. My main problem with the iPhone (don't know if it's changed) is the need for iTunes to sync your media. I much prefer to rip my CDs and drag and drop the flac files in conveniently organized folders. I had an old iPod where iTunes would take readable mp3 files like "My Favorite Song.mp3" and stick them in some obscure folder and give them weird names like a9wepjmcw.mp3. Not to mention for video files I like to keep them organized in a way I can understand. I just hate being tied down to iTunes for trivial things like loading new music, movies etc. Also, while you may not have to wait on a carrier for firmware updates, if rooting/jailbreaking means anything to you, you WILL be waiting for the newest jailbreak fix to come out. At least on android you have CM to take care of carrier updates. My SGS1 runs android 4.2. One of the biggest benefits I think of rooting/jailbreaking is just for the ad blockers. Makes a MUCH cleaner phone experience.
And, I think the whole build quality is highly overrated. As long as it doesn't scratch too easily I could care less whether the phone is made of the cheapest looking plastic or highly reflective aluminum. I buy my phones (when I can afford them) for the raw hardware power and CM, not really for the premium look. Sadly, I'm not due for a new phone at least until 64bit armv8 comes out in 2015? (Which ever comes later.)

I completely agree with basically everything that you've said, but I already have two Nexus devices (the 4 and 7) so pure Android is always going to be accessible to me. Also, I sort of keep my entire music library in iTunes anyway. I just always have, even when I haven't owned Apple devices. Sometimes I'd use it alongside of another one such as MediaMonkey or Winamp, but I always found iTunes to be the simplest when it comes to managing music, burning CDs (am I the only person who still does this?), and finding new music.
As for audio quality, I usually go for strictly 320 Kbps MP3s. FLAC files are huge and I've never been able to notice a huge difference (maybe a slight one), so it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the hissing I get with the Qualcomm DAC on my Nexus 4. The rom/kernel I'm on increased the volume (making it about equal with the iPhone). However, at about 3/4 of the volume level, distortion kicks in. I'm worried that this will also be problem for the S4 considering the DAC from the S4 Pro to the S600 is probably the same. For probably two years now I have been dying to have all of my music locally on my phone. It hasn't been possible due to either hardware limitations (16gb of storage on the Nexus 4 is a no-go) or horrible DACs (Galaxy S2).
The more I think of it, the more I like the idea of the iPhone. I mean, the Galaxy S4 is by no means going to be bad phone. If I didn't have the Nexus 4 to keep up with Android, I'd buy it immediately. But I think this time around I'm going to try something different. I'm not 100% sure, yet. But probably 60% of me is leaning towards the 5.

honestly, I think you should go for the iPhone.
the nexus 4 is a great device, and even though the S4 is much better (IMO) it's not worth keeping if you buy an S4,
I would say sell the nexus, get the S4 and the iPhone 5 ahah
but maybe you like the nexus more than I do
if I had the S4, I doubt I'd ever get the Nexus 4 even though I'd like to have multiple phones I think I'd be better off with the S4 and an iPhone

Ok. Yes. The Galaxy S4 is better in many areas. However, if the Galaxy S4 isn't a huge upgrade from the S3, it's definitely not a huge upgrade to the Nexus 4.

I would much rather keep the Nexus 4 because it gets updates from Google and Key Lime Pie will be out pretty soon. However, I can understand why others would rather have the S4 than the Nexus 4 because of the hardware. But every time a new Android OS update is released, I get software envy, so it's best for me to keep a Nexus device.

No. Because I've never found benchmarks to be a good indication of real world usage. The iPhone 5 is ridiculously smooth. I was literally blown away when I realized how smooth it was compared to my Nexus 4 which I considered to be the smoothest phone I've ever used.

Just saying did you look at the benchies or not... not asking you to base your choice of phone out of it. Although it no matter a whole lot if the differences are marginal. But certainly does matter when the differences are huge!

Yes. I did look at them. The S4 is around two times-faster (processor-wise) than the 5. However, you wouldn't be able to know that when actually using it.

Yeah. I've pretty much made my mind up. I'm going to go with the 5. There's no point in having two great Android phones when I can I have one great Android phone and one great iOS phone. And I'll be switching between the two every now and then just to see how each of ecosystem is improving (I'm VERY excited for KLP and I hope that iOS 7 makes some UI changes).

Your simple question requires a quite long answer. If you're looking for a technical comparison you can look at a site like gsmarena.
I haven't had a Nexus 4 but from what I've heard the screen on the Find 5 is better. It's running full-HD instead of 1280x720, which makes it sharper, and the feel and response is just astonishing. From what I've heard the Nexus 4 has felt a bit faster and smoother, but that source is from before a few updates on the Find 5.
If you google around I'm sure you will find more details about software differences on these phones, but if you look at the hardware of these phones it feels like the Find 5 has the upper hand.
Better:
Screen
Camera
Build quality
(Subjective, but for me: ) Design
Storage
Battery
Same:
CPU
No 4G
RAM
Worse:
Out-of-the-box software, but when you're in xda you likely wont be using it
Price, but little difference when you're in europe
The hardware is without a doubt better on Oppo.
But i think that the community around the Nexus is the best.
developers will be interested to Oppo?
I don’t succeed to decide
I can buy a Oppo for 399 Euro vs Nexus 4 for 349 Euro.

It's actually 399 vs 359 (Google wants ~10 for shipping).
For me, the ~40 bucks difference alone is worth the far superior display and in my subjective view the design and built-quality - plus I like to support "underdogs".
As far as software goes, the Find 5 is one of the view non-Nexus devices getting official support from Paranoid, plus there is CM & PAC and a few other ones, not to forget Oppo keeps it's stock ROM updated very regularly so far (currently at least once per month).
The big question is, do you really really need Android updates the first day and thus maybe also getting severe overlooked bugs or can you live waiting a little longer, but getting the features of CM/PA/AOKP/etc? If you intend to keep stock Android, the Nexus is the obvious choice, but if you're interested at all in other ROMS, the little money extra for the Find5 is well worth it, imho.

I think you will be happy whichever device you choose. When you ask this question in this part of xda I think the answer always will be the Find 5, since we all got it. But anyways, I chose between these two devices before i decided to go with the Oppo. I didn't have any way of seeing the Find 5 (in real life) before I bought it, and I still chose it mainly because:
The Design
The Screen (I knew it was good from reviews)
Oppo's spirit of being very open to modding
The fact that not many have it in Sweden (or Europe). I guess the feeling to be hipster is quite tempting.
So, to sum it up I would like to recommend you into paying those few extra euros for getting the Find 5. You won't be dissapointed.

Thank you, everybody
Having just ordered a 32gb Find 5 I had the same question. Except I had experience of the Nexus 4 as my wife recently got it to replace her Note 1.
From setting it up for her, I must say it's an excellent phone for the money and unbelievably smooth. She loves it despite the drop in screen size (the dpi is greatly improved).
For me though, used to an Note 2, I'm interested in the IPS 1080 screen, build quality, and perhaps above all, that it's not mainstream. Plus the community around it sounds good.
The price is good albeit not as low N4 but the screen and design is worth the extra. I also found dropping to 4.7 inch screen a bit too much from the 5.55 Note 2. I'm hoping the 5 is the sweet spot whilst still being easy to use with one hand.
Tired of iPhone, Samsung's plastic design and Touchwiz. Oppo here I come.

Depends on what you prefer for your needs.
I'm not surprised the N4 has strong development given it's Google's phone and older than the F5.
Personally, the larger screen and higher resolution along with the industrial design are winners for me. I also like the community and how it seems to be growing with enthusiasts.
Now, I'm just waiting for the phone to arrive.

I bought both because I couldn't decide; my Nexus got to my house a day earlier. I detested the screen, it was by far the worst mobile device I had ever had to look it. Truly disappointing. Hardware was fine, Nexus experience was great. Battery was pretty poor.
The next day my Find 5 showed up - I couldn't put it down. Gorgeous screen coming from a Note 2, fantastic battery life on CM 10 (rock solid for me), superb performance. Returned the Nexus the next day, have been using the Find 5 since. VERY happy customer.

Heh, the Nexus screen isn't that bad but nowhere near the Find 5. And it kills the Note 2's SAMOLED outdoors (and indoors!). Makes me want to use it more.

I am also one of them that can't decide which one to pick Nexus 4 vs Find 5.
I did watch/read a lot of reviews, most of them are really pleased about the phone. However there are a couple of things that keep me from buying the Oppo.
I read the screen isn't scratch proof
It is quite a heavy phone in comparison with others (139g vs 165g)
I also read some negative things about the quality of the power button and the volume rocker.
Oppo vs Nexus 4 community
How fast does it charge compare with the Nexus 4
I am coming from the HTC Sensation which is 2 years old now. So as for now, i am not a user that switch phones on a regular base.
For me it is no problem to root the phone and switch to CM or Paranoid Android.
I hope you guys can convince me which to choose
I used a nexus 4 for around 5 months and decided to sell it and get an oppo find 5. I've been using this for a week now and like everyone else has said the screen is AMAZING. The feel of the phone is top notch. My advice is look at your needs. Are you looking for a phone where u are not worried about flashing roms kernels firmware etc? While the hardware is exceptional the oppo is still behind in software and it will require us as users to try out and flash different things and being patient and open minded to small hiccups along the way. The team at oppo and other devs are working extremely hard. On the other hand if your looking for something more stable and smooth straight out of the box without having to worry about and play around with all the flashing then I'd definitely recommend the nexus 4. I still miss it a lot but personally I like experimenting with the latest software releases/beta versions etc so although the oppo software is not as 'buttery' smooth as the nexus. It is the phone for me. It all comes down to u how ur thinking of using the phone. Hope that helps. Any more questions give me a shout.

Hello guys,
I face the same dilemma...
I also don't understand why the oppo 5 scores lower in some benchmarks like antutu, although it has a better hardware.

I believe you already know that benchmarks count for very little in real life.
And I must say that with my FInd 5 I had quite different results depending on the stock Oppo ROM I was using... if my memory serves me yhe best I got was the first ROM I had, one of the betas before Color ROM came along, and got scores higher than the "normal" Nexus 4.
I haven't tried benchmarking for a whie... not with the latest Color ROM, nor CM 10.1, nor Maxwen's AOKP.
I'm running CM 10.2 unoficial and just for info purposes I run Antutu v4 as I was typing and got: 18530 (between Nexus 4 and Xperia Z).
Antutu states 16793 for Nexus 4 in the comparison tables.
UPDATE: running again five minutes later got 18517
I wonder if the FullHD screen has its toll on this...
I use benchmarking just to know if everything's ok with my phone... if some part isn't malfunctioning...not to get higher or lower scores... for that I would have to overclock...
Hi Banimale,
You are right about the benchmarks, they don't totally relate to the user experience, I just found it strange.
Are you satisfied with the battery life?
Is the stock rom buggy?
Stock ROM is buggy especially regarding battery life and some minor issues. But imo it is functional and has some interesting features and customisations.
Regarding themes and ui is kind of hate it or love it...
But one can always get another rom like maxwen aokp or cm... Even cm 10.2 unofficial. Better battery life and probably something one is familiar with and doesn't start blaming oppo for missing this or having broken that...
I really like my phone!

Are you happy with your Find 5?

Hello guys...I don't own this device but I am interested what you like/don't like on it it seems to be a great phone.
Also I'm interested to exchange my Nexus 4 for an Oppp Find 5.
Now you guys write some sentences about your Fins 5
I definitely like the look and feel of the hardware. It is nicely build.
However I start to dislike the software. Some bugs of the official
firmware are annoying. ColorROM is also in Beta and not fully ready,
I guess.
Though I haven't tried any CustomROMs so far. But I'm sure other
can eloberate on this.
I haven't had mine long, but it has amazing build quality. Also, you almost have to be willing to root it to be able to tweak and maintain it at this time. The official ROM is beta at the moment, as was mentioned, and has it's share of quirks. There's a new Oppo phone coming out and you may want to wait for that before you decide to get one, but it certainly has the specifications at a good price point to last a while.

I'm going to sell it for just one reason: International version does not support 900MHz 3G, which is causing me annoying indoor issues; other than that it is a great device. Maxwen's AOKP is stable enough for daily use (ColorROM isn't).
Check your carrier's frequencies before buying one.

It really is a nice device. The thing I like MOST about it is their dedication and support to the development and customization cause. I speak with my money where I can, and I can tell you it'll be either Oppo or Sony (even if someone else decides to play).
Also, I have not run into a phone yet that doesn't have some little annoyances with ROM's beyond the one provided on the phone. The difference here is, you'll find those annoyances on the stock ROM. I root and flash customs on all my devices, so I haven't given the latest stock ROM a sniff.
If you want AOKP, AOSP or CM, you've found a good device. It also helps to have the devs we've got thus far on the device.
Tipping point - Faux123 has one. Whether you use stock or not, you want this dev to have a device you own. Dude's a rock star for kernels (Max and others are great in their own right) and it's the only one going for stock that I know of.
Full disclosure - I am a moderate to heavy work user... I don't play games much if at all, or watch movies on my device. An occasional picture or two is not out of the question.
Absolutely happy with it. Its come so far from when it was first released..as far as the software is concerned. It's a fantastic device. No other OEM is as open as OPPO and hardware wise, its a top dawg for sure

And, there are two Coloradan's that own them :highfive:. If that doesn't seal the deal, nothing will!
I have an LG OG..basically a n4..I'm having a hard time choosing which one to carry. Both have their strengths ..for me the LTE is kind of a big issue. I'm a power user with unlimited data and I enjoy flexing that right often... Fortunately for the oppo most places I go, work, home, school, friends house wifi is available. There are endless amounts of decent custom ROMs for the LG as its pretty much a n4 but I find stock to run fairly smooth and the whole efs backing up for GPS issue just ticks me off, only worked once for me and the ROM was so unstable otherwise I went back to stock .. The oppo on the other hand has been on TeamAslyums Build since day1 with no issues

I like it very much,It's great after I flash CM
The phone is great, and OPPO just confirmed they'll be adding a root toggle somewhere in the UI for geeks convenience. It doesn't get any better than that no matter how you slice it. Actually the stock ROM is plenty nice,if it wasn't for the battery issues on the latest beta,I'd say it's rock stable.
Had a hardware problem, a month later is not here yet. Aside from that, I am happy. The phone is awesome.

Specially I'm happy with the wide community supporting this phone, making differents ROM's. Now we have 4.3 already!!!

Hello, please, could you tell me, how are you content with GPS precision in compare with similar phones? I'm interesting especially of Oppo Find 5 vs Nexus 4 (as I know, Nexus has really fast first fixation and very good precision of GPS).
Thank you very much. H.

Im very happy with my Find 5.
I came from a Lumia 920.
I wanted a phone with Android and open Source Codes, good Hardware and a nice Screen.
All this have the Oppo, and thats for a fair price.
I tested several Firmwares.
CM, CodefireX, AOKP, and at the Moment PA 3.99.
Great Software Support here at XDA.
I’ve come from the Nexus 4 so have good knowledge of both
The Nexus 4 is a capable phone, a nice size with a decent screen, mediocre camera and medium build quality and very average battery life with a 720 screen.
The phones fluid and responsive but the sound quality is poor.
The reason I swapped was my Nexus became unusable because whilst charging the charger melted to the phone! LG and Google didn’t want to know because I removed the screws on the back to unpick the charger remains, it’s now sat next to me looking very sad
Time for a new phone
I opted for the Oppo I had been watching this and really wanted it since it came out.
The Oppo is solid and I mean SOLID the build quality leaves everything behind including Iphones.
The Screen is 1080 and is a real step up from the Nexus in both real estate and quality.
Battery life is about the same as the Nexus and despite people moaning it’s not great? it is when you consider the size and quality of the screen.
The Camera is also way better than the Nexus camera by a long shot
The current Colorom is good but the battery did take a big hit from the previous version that was pretty good, you can choose any 3rd party rom you want but the Colorom is pretty nice so I think I will stick with it.
Overall the comments on the net are pretty spot on, brilliant hardware mediocre software that can only improve.
If you have the choice between the Nexus and the Oppo I would go for the Oppo I haven’t regretted it for a second :good:
Very pleased
I got my Oppo Find 5 a couple of days ago and I'm already in love with it. High quality build and the ability to use custom ROMs is awesome.

Do you think google will release a nexus 6p successor with android N this summer ?

Now that google has announced that the final version of Android N will be available in summer , do you think google will also release a new phone at that time?
I think every android release so far has been accompanied by hardware, although I think that jellybean was released with the nexus 7 ( a tablet) and now would be a good time to release a nexus 9 successor, but technically summer ends the first week of September, and the nexus 6p was released at the end of September, so who knows, just pure speculation , what do you think?
I wouldn't mind a nexus 6ps lol , a nexus 6p with way smaller bezels, bigger battery , snapdragon 820, no chamfered edges, a more scratch resistant aluminium, better camera and good camera software
I think that Google will release another Nexus 6(x) device and maybe finally a newer Tablet too. I hope for the love of God that the Nexus 6 (2016) and Nexus Tablet (2016) won´t be manufactured by Huawei or Asus
HTC is supposedly developing both new nexus 5 and 6 for 2016. Codenames seem to indicate that the screen sizes will be 5.0 and 5.5 inches.

I agree 100%. Huawei did a damn good job.
I´m not very happy with the build quality of the Nexus 6P to be honest. It looks good on the outside but this device has some structural flaws. It warps or even bends at some point. It´s a nightmare to open and to repair too if you don´t want to wait for several months for a replacement device which could be even worse ( eg. include a faulty screen ).
In terms of build quality, reliability I rather trust LG more. These devices are very easy to open and not made in such a way that you need to baby them a lot. This is what I don´t like about Huawei. In the end I think that the Nexus 6P is just the Android version of a crApple device: looks good but has flaws which cannot justify the expensive price ( especially in Germany ).
To be honest, I have my doubts that I would want to get another Huawei device again.
Hmm the current 100$ price discount makes me more suspicious
Not until fall like they do every year
There were a lot of rumours recently about a new N7, which could get a summer release as did the others. There won't be a new phone until October.
I like the 6p, but not as much as I thought I would. It's just a little too big and a little too thin. A redesign of the dimensions would please me. The one plus two, for example, got it right between large screen size, bezels, depth and overall footprint.

Never had any bending or warping on mine. I will never understand why people care at all about the ability to open a phone yourself. All that says is if there is a problem the company probably won't open the phone and try to repair it and just send you a refurb. I much prefer that over having someone trying to open my phone and repair it. The quality will never be the same after opening it.

Don't underestimate Huawei after 6p
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
There's no reason to underestimate Huawei, I've liked the design of some previous handsets if not the final implementation. The 6P is a good piece of kit but could be improved in the ways that I described and the OP agrees.
The 1+2 is 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm with a 139.7mm screen (73.3 ratio),
the 6p is 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm with a 144.8mm screen (71.4 ratio)--for info, I really wish I'd kept the photos of them side by side
It's pretty clear that the latter's design trades everything for depth, but in the process makes it more cumbersome to use. What I'd like to see, to slip back to the OP's topic, is the next iteration of Nexus phones take usability AND aesthetics as a combined first step. They'll be sure to have the internals, and the 1+2 and many other phones show that they can fit in a better footprint.
i recently changed to 6p got so sick of touchwix and i apparently love stock andriod from nexus so im hoping google will manufactor a better nexus N7
If google makes a tiny ass 5.5" phone and not 5.7" i wont be buying this year. I dont want a teeny ****ing phone, if they dont produce a suitable device i am Note 6 this year
Is a nexus 6p a good phone? I see some people having lagg issues...

They just wanted to match apples thickness 7.3 mm I would have prefered to have a 8 mm phone with slimmer bezels than a 7.3 mm with huge bezels, but oh well, they just wanted to give us reasons to upgrade to the nexus 7 2016 right?

I agree. I've had em all starting with the G1. Love my 6p most. I'd be insane not to. This thing is awesome. Look at the history of Nexis. Ha. We have the best now. I'll likely keep mine for 2 years which is very unusual for me. Unusually sell in a year or less.

Will you move to Nexus 2016 soon after its launch?

This poll is to determine and estimate how much the new nexus (2016) is anticipated in nexus 6 community.
Used to be YES! But not if the front speakers are gone. Sticking with n6.... Looking at ZTE axon 7 as bootloader is unlocked and twrp plus good hw and cheaper price, good speakers seems worth a better look.

I see moving to a 5.5" screen as a downgrade.
After spending the price of two laptops on my N6 (£549) I expect it to last more than a couple of years. I like new toys, but there's a limit imposed by common sense. Newer processors may give an infinitesimal improvement in performance, which no doubt can be measured by benchmarks, but the N6 is plenty fast enough for me. The screen may not be the best around these days, but every time I watch a video I think "Wow, this is an amazing quality picture", so again, good enough for me.
No point in squandering resources, is there...?
("I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

I'll stay with Nexus 6, it's the best phone I ever had, even if it's not my daily phone because it's too big, it's really wonderfull with big screen, nice resolution (ready for carboards), enought RAM, 25Go is enought for me, nice photos/videos, good stereo sound with front speakers, fast charge... :good: I still love it
The Nexus Marlin and Sailfish will indeed not be true Nexus devices. It has been announced that Google is rebranding the Nexus brand, rumored at the moment to just be called "G"; and it will not feature a stock version of android, rather there will be G-only features built into the ROM. No word of bootloader yet.

If there is no Nexus device then maybe I will get the One Plus 3

Me too, not going to happen as long as there are decent 6" or bigger phones available. It's a pain trying to type messages or emails on such a small screen.
I really want a 64 bit mobile to develop my rom, but the 6P might break if I think about it too hard. So I'll check the new ones, but if they are too expensive here in Europe, and the early reviews are negative, then I'll just keep my N6.
I still love my N6 but I cracked the screen a bit in the corner.
I also want to finally make the move to Project Fi so I'm hoping for a bundle deal.
If what is in the leaks is true. I rather buy note 7. Back design too ugly for me.
There are a lot of reasons why people buy a Nexus device. The 2 most common reasons I always see is either the simplicity of the device (dare I say, bare bones of what a phone should do/have) and stock skin of Android or on the other side, the complex and customisable options that is possible with the fact that Nexus devices are easy to tinker with combined with the support of the developer community who are constantly providing support for devices for years even after they reach their sell by date(shoutout to all the devs btw )
Combined with this I guess its safe to stay for the most advanced users and beginners alike it all depends on if they're specific needs are still being met for them to stay with Nexus 6 or any other device for that matter and if not then it's time to upgrade.
Personally I will probably stick with Nexus 6 for as long as it lasts me or if a phone gets released with everything the Nexus 6 is and hopefully more ( Preferably a phone such as the Xperia Z5 Ultra , if Sony ever release it )
The price is too high for me. No front facing speakers, "just" a 5.5 Inch screen etc etc. For the moment my N6 is fast and stable enough to use it for the best part of the next year as well.
Bottom line, I would rather buy a OnePlus 3, than a "New Nexus" at this point.
Did they unviel it yet? I have my credit card ready. But i love my n6 to much lol
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've grown to the size of my phone and cant seem myself owning anything smaller.
Since first buying the Nexus 6 a couple years ago or so I've had a Moto X Pure, Huawei Mate 7, OnePlus 3, and now I'm back to the Nexus 6. This phone just has everything I want in a phone. 6 inch screen (which for me is the perfect size), simple, clean design, great development, stereo speakers, and good battery life. No point in updating to a newer phone for minimal gains in speed at the cost of at least a couple of the N6's great features.
More than likely I'm going to upgrade. My N6 will be paid off in October.
I'm ready for a smaller form factor, unless they completely **** it up and the design is completely underwhelming, I will be getting one, I'm not gonna get it on launch day like the Shamu though , gonna take my sweet time waiting for reviews to make a final decision, there is a chance I will be sticking with this device for another cycle, we'll see

Me too, I wish they would make another Nexus with a screen this size! They did it once and never again! I LOVE my N6!
I'll be keeping my N6 or getting the One Plus 3 if what I have heard and read about the new devices is true. I just love my N6, has everything I've ever wanted (minus a removable SD and/or battery which I really don't miss). Got my son a OP3 and it is really nice, I really liked my OP1. OnePlus is as close to a Nexus as you can get and unlike recent Nexus they are still inexpensive.
