Petition to Bring 32GB S5 to Sprint - Sprint Galaxy S 5 General

Somebody over at the Sprint.com Community started a petition to bring the 32GB S5 to Sprint. Sign it here: Sprint should offer the 32gb version of the Galaxy S5 - PetitionBuzz

Why? With SD cards so cheap why would anyone pay up to $100 more for 16gbs? I ordered the S5 from Sprint and purchased a couple 16GB Samsung class 10 SD cards for $10 each. I understand that some apps work better on internal storage but with proper management its easy to work around it.
With that said, I'll still sign the petition. Who am I to say how people should spend their money.

Because built in flash storage is many times faster than MicroSD (even the fastest of them).

SD Cards still wins in terms of price to performance ratio.

Of course. Although many (me included) would rather pay more for faster storage. Storage speed can be more important than CPU speed on a device for fluidity. The reason the Moto X is so fast is because it uses very high performance flash storage. This is why I have no desire to use external storage on any device.

Is there a 32gb galaxy S5 in existance? I haven't heard any official news about any carriers having it.

T-Mobile will have the 32GB, so yes, it exists. No other carriers have said anything though.

Thanks for the link, but i've already seen it before and there's nothing official about it. Also the leaked image doesn't say "T-mobile" in it. Only 16GB is up for pre-order at T-mobile. The reason why Tmobile isn't currently offering the 32GB could be the same reason the other carriers aren't, but it may come later . You'll just have to wait and see.

Yep true. I'm hoping AT&T gets it within 14 days of the 16gb release.

Maybe, but they'll never achieve the elegance of the Chinese abacus (suànpán, or 算盤). I demand that phone manufacturers finally share some love with those of us who still prefer 2nd century bce Chinese technology! It's outright marketing discrimination.

If sprint sucks then why do you bother

32GB/64GB Note 2 in UK?

Hi guys,
I currently have an S3 and I have a buyer for it, I will be buying the Grey Note II very soon. However, due to the large number of games I have and the increasing file sizes for game data (in particular gameloft games) I would like to go for the 32GB or 64GB version. It is very inconvenient to always run out of space and have to move game data to the SD card. With the size of phone games these days, 32GB really should be the new standard imo.
I already have a 64GB memory card so please don't tell me where I can purchase one of these. I want the Note 2 in Grey with 32GB or 64GB internal memory. Do they exist? Will they ever appear or am I likely to be waiting indefinitely?
Now the buyer for my S3 is getting impatient and he wants it ASAP. I could sell it and buy the 16GB grey Note 2 now, but if there is any news regarding the 32 or 64GB version I will hold out for a bit longer.
Any information would be most helpful.

Samsung are just about to start releasing an S3 64gb. Doesn't bode well for seeing a Note II anytime soon.
They seem to use the extra memory to even out their sales further into the phone's life, rather than maximize them at launch. Bloody annoying really.

I ordered this: KINGSTON SECURE DIGITAL CLASS 10 SDXC 64 GB
I will update this thread once I pick it up at the post office today
I was in the same boat. I wanted the 64GB with 64GB microSD, but it is really unnecessary. To use that space you would need A LOT of movies on the phone. Movies etc can be streamed from your home computer via the Emit app. You can also use dropbox, so even 16+64GB is moooooooore then enough space.
Im one hoping for the release of the 64gb variant soon.
I think samsung have dropped the ball here.

You guys confirmed what I already thought, I can see it being quite a wait until we see the 32GB and 64GB versions.
I've gone ahead and ordered the 16GB Grey Note II today. For those interested in the UK, this is the deal I got:
Grey Note II (FREE HANDSET)
300 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
1.5GB Internet
£27 Cashback.
£31 per month (T-Mobile)
24 Month Contract.
I ordered it today, it should be with me tomorrow.

No, the one I ordered is 3G.
Thing is, I do not intend to use 4G at all yet especially since we can be sure it will cost a fair bit on top of our contracts. I have also heard reports that the battery life takes quite a hit on 4G. By the time 4G is standard across the UK and we have coverage everywhere, I reckon I may have the Note 3 by then...
farfromovin - I agree with you, I think 128GB micro sd cards are literally just a few weeks away now.
If your thinking for waiting before buying the consensus is that is too long to wait for most. We are greedy. But it might still be a good idea as next week ee launch the lte version, this may affect the prices but come November network prices will definitely be affected. Combined you might save £50 in 30 days. This is all skeptical I know so let's say the EV is around £25 allowing for a fall in hype too.

It's funny you say that. I was thinking the same thing. I sure hope so. If this is the case I'd be willing to go that route. Not only is it more storage it's a more future proof solution. In fact the difference between a 16GB and 64GB note will probably be roughly equal to the difference between a 64GB card and a 128 GB card.
... here's hoping.
Got my Note II today, what a beast of a phone. Takes the best things from the Note I and the S3 and combines them, and improves it some. :good:

The XC standard is supposed to be fixed regardless of memory size (up to a limit I forget) where the HC standard was different for each capacity. Wouldn't guarantee it but if 64 works then 128 (256, 512...) should be fine.

No i mean sandisk is more reliable overall.
Dont know much about the reliability of samsung cards... not very popular but i know that this specific card from samsung has faster read write speeds..
Again using this card over sandisk class 10 may not make a difference in real world use in phones..
The difference would be copying large files.
smasung vs sandisk
Guys I previously did research on this when looking for a sandisk 64 gb, and hands down samsung is the better card. In terms of speed and functionality samsung is the clear winnner. However many choose sandisk for the better price. Sandisk went down to 38 at one point and if you are willing to wait can be had around 46. The samsung card averages around the mid 70;s most of the time, even on amazon. I would highly reccomend this specific deal as you will not find the samsung at a similar price. It has great reliability. Sandisk, as many people have found with the 64 gb, has iffy quality. They recieved some bad rep from an earlier faulty batch of cards. This was a manufacturing issue and has been fixed at this point. Don't be afraid to buy either because of quality. I personally use the sandisk, simply cause I didnt want to pay more for the samsung. However at this price point, I would buy the samsung without hesitation.
???
I don't like the fact that the pics from newegg and amazon have different typefonts on the cards itself. Of course it's possible one or both are using differing generic photos. Not sure if I trust amazon over newegg when buying sd cards... But I do have amazon prime... But then again newegg will definitely have it to me in one day if it ships from the jersey warehouse... So confused... Anyone have any advice? Oh and btw, the last samsung card i bought 32gb class 10 was amazing compared to my class 10 sandisk cards.

[Q] S4 with 32 or 64GB internal memory

Are Samsung ever going to release the S4 with 64GB internal memory as stated, or even one with 32GB internal memory?
All signs point to probably not.
i hope so, i preordered two ... im not buying anything less than 64 so.. ill continue to wait, got an N900 holdin me down.
edit: the 32 is already out in the 9500 flavor .. 24GB freespace
why wait or pay so much more for a 32 or 64 gig version, just get a 64gb sd card and slap it in. cost a lot less than the phone does
You can't move all games on sd, only some. So, you need larger internal memory.

And to answer the original question: I think Australia will be also getting a 32gb model in the coming wks (don't take this as gospel though, it's an unconfirmed rumour as far as I'm concerned).
File binding and rooting doesn't work yet, has reliability issues and stops some apps from working.
Internal memory works better. We need bigger memory models. The 16gb should never have been sold.

Unlike Apple, Samsung doesn't sell the phone directly. It gets orders from the carriers and wholesalers. The carriers no nothing about the memory and apps issues so just ordered the cheapest model as it would sell the most. But they were basing this decision on lack of technical information.
Every single mobile phone shop is lying to customers telling them apps can be moved to the sd card. I have corrected the staff but do they care to raise it higher.

Any news update on 32gb/64gb with LTE models? I'd rather buy an 64gb htc one than a 16gb+64microsd S4. But I like the S4 more than the One.

That's probably because it's too expensive. People expect to pay close to $900 for an iPhone and carriers are willing to take the risk on an Apple product. Not so much with any other manufacturers.
Unless it's going to be a few months I will definitely hold out for the 64gb version. I have 16gb now which is horrible.
Too expensive is a load of BS. The price point between 16/32/64 is each one goes up $50-100 so a 64GB should cost $349-399 at most. People buy 64GB iphones though not as many compared to the 16/32GB options. The issue is people in the US are CHEAP, the average user just won't spend the extra $50 to get more storage, they cry they can put an SD card in which is only partially true, you can't put apps on that SD card which is WHY we want 64GB. I guess it will take another few years before Samsung drops 32GB and goes 64GB only
I had high hopes for LTE being the one standard to which we could all balance on but those telco's certainly like to screw us royally and will never agree on anything that takes dime out of their own pockets.

I dont see how it could be too expensive. I bought the HTC one 64 GB from AT&T pre-order with no problems. I actually got a hell of a deal on it too. Did it during the free Media Link promo they had. They took the 99 dollars off the 64 GB which made it like 250 and were supposed to re-charge me that when they shipped the media link. Well they never shipped it and never tacked that price back on.

Too little, too late. 32GB is the new 16GB. It wasn't that long ago when phones were 4-8GB. My Note 1 is approaching 2 years old, back then the market wasn't full of 1gig plus games, the camera res wasn't as good etc. To me especially with limited data bigger internal storage is a must.
And as you said an SD card isn't the same when you can't move apps to it, I have a 64gb card for music, audiobooks, pictures and videos and I still barely get by with the 16gb internal storage.
Not that I myself will actually use it...But the Note3 is said to be able to shoot video in the new 4K format. That's a space DEVOURER right there!

I don't disagree, but if Samsung hadn't removed the 16GB version the US carriers would have ordered those and NOT the 32GB. Like I say we need Samsung to just go 64GB + microSD and make it a big value.
My understanding is 32gb + LTE or 64gb + NO LTE
In which case it's pretty reasonable tradeoff to me...
but then I hear about 4 core CPU + LTE or 8 core CPU + NO LTE - now that is bullsh!t
Yes I noticed that. I wonder why or how they are related...

2014 FLAGSHIP KILLER - OnePlus One

Sorry if wrong place, couldn't see sub forum. Check this phone out guys the specs seem to good for the price. Wow!
Wounder if we can buy in UK?
http://oneplus.net/one#overview
Yup this phone is certainly one to keep an eye on, early reviews are positive! Amazed it's cheaper than the Nexus 5 (£229 for 16GB / £269 for 64GB) and has better specs too.
The runtime schould be better than the Nexus 5 runtime.
Seeing as Oneplus is created by ex Oppo employee and the 32gb Oppo Find 5 I used to own only had a 2gb partition for app storage, even the new Find 7 only has a 3gb partition, I will get the 64gb version only if the full 64gb is available for apps storage.
These small partitions for app storage are totally useless in that a lot of apps nowadays can be 1gb+ in size so a small 2 or 3gb partition will be filled up pretty quickly. As an example on my Galaxy Note 3 my total apps have taken up 3.7gb.
Otherwise, this phone sounds like near perfect device for me.
Why don't you just create a bigger Partition for Apps? That should be possible with the OnePlus One.

Certainly interesting! I wouldn't call it a flagship killer, though.
For me a device will never be the ultimate flagship if it lack a MicroSD slot. Especially if the phone is 16GB. Maybe the US has worldwide free 100Mbps WiFi for cloud and streaming, but the rest of us don't.
I'm ready to give them my money

Who is not ready ?
Yep, can't wait for this phone to be available. Seems to address all the things I was disappointed with in the new HTC One (M8) - primarily camera.

Certainly interesting! I wouldn't call it a flagship killer, though.

The only way in which it is a flagship killer is the unsustainably low price. Hence their ridiculous invite system.
You can either play the game with rabid forum fanboys in the hope of MAYBE being permitted to purchase this device, OR you can just to and buy the nearly identical Oppo Find 7a and have the device arrive within days.
If they'd priced it $100 higher they would've been able to have a sane ordering system. With their current business plan, the device is going to be vaporware for all but a small handful of users.

Maybe true, but if we all start to share invitations over here as well (as we already do), at least we can get one. Also, I do think there will be a point where they'll open up the store for everyone, so doing that for the lower price is fine with me.

I'm not really sure what this means.
I don't think I could fill up 60GB of usable if I tried. Although, my video/music collection is in the terabyte range. I don't need all of my music (not even a quarter of it), and I think I've watched an .mkv on my phone once.
I've been happy with 16GB (12.6GB usable). All of my music (via Subsonic, or Google Music all access)can be cached whatever I want on WiFi. I don't come close to hitting my 2.5GB limit of LTE on Net 10 or 3GB on Simple Mobile. My internet connection is also metered at home (300GB) and I've never been close to hitting that.
I didn't even have a microSD in my S4, and that was my last device with the option.

Very good point, I didn't know that about the Oppo phones. I'll definitely be looking out for that before I buy (assuming I'm lucky enough to get invited) since I have 5GB of apps installed on my N5.

With the latest KitKat changes the usefulness of the MicroSD slot is quite limited and according to both Google and Koush it is likely to be more of a second class citizen as time goes on. And the One has 64GB models for dirt cheap so I don't see this as much of an issue. There is no way I need more than 64GB.
No SD slot = sticking with my S5 and Note 3.

Do you really need a SD in a 64GB phone?
64gb internal is great especially since it'll be running at maximum performance. S5 has only a 16gb option and formatted it's 12 then TouchWiz brings it down to around 8gb. What SD would you put in there? 64gig would be the best since 128gb is expensive.
