new to note3, what is this knox thing and how can i safely root the device? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So i was reading through the forums and attempted to root my phone until I got into this knox security feature.
So samsung can see if we rooted our devices even if we revert to the stock bootloader and firmware? Bastards!
Is there any safe way to root the device without triggering the knox counter? And maybe an easy step by step guide or friendly toolkit?
Thanks!

ROOT - Not rooted pre-4.4...How?

Wanting to root my brothers phone for him...but can't find any solid details on how or if its safe for those who are already on official 4.4. He upgraded via phone OTA from 4.3...and all post I find are in reference to 4.3 rooting to 4.4 ...and since root has been accomplished prior to official being rolled out...is there a method to it for those who werent game enough to try it on a nee device???
You can root but will trip knox, so no warrenty. If thats cool check out CF-auto root method and pick the apropriet 4.4 version..

Root is always possible. If firmware is 4.3 MJ3 & above, you are not able to have a safe rooting without tripping the KNOX. Don't worry, this trip is only for warranty. No other issue other than warranty is voided.
The easiest way to root, is always chainfire method, which is mentioned earlier ==> CF-Autoroot.
Just grab the latest file from his thread (under Note 3 original Android development). Choose a correct device for you. N9005 must use N9005, N900 must use N900, and vice versa.
Read carefully on the instructions on how to root (easy to follow and to understand).
Good luck.
Ok beauty. Thanks for your help. Not worried bout warranty. Cheers

Best method to root note 3

Greetings
I have planned to root my galaxy note 3 and it's current running kit kat. So I searched online there were quite a number of ways to root note 3.
So I would like to ask which method is recommended and also doesn't trip the Knox?
Thank you.
I used cf root on 4.3 and had no issued. But I tripped my knox.

As of today there's no method of rooting that doesn't trip knox! the CF-root by chainfire seems to be the reliable one, but it TRIPS YOUR KNOX COUNTER. Downgrade to 4.3 is also not possible on N9005.

There're numbers of rooting method.
The best (in terms of dummy proof) I could say is cf-autoroot.
As u r in kitkat, don't bother to waste ur time to find untriggered knox rooting method, as said earlier post, there's none up to now.
If u need root, forget knox.
If u need knox flag, forget rooting.

Yeah.
1. Towelroot is for root android 4.3 or higher.
2. You can use CF-Auto-Root without void the warranty coz you are using android 4.2.2. This is the first firmware of the Galaxy s4 and it hadn't KNOX. You can flash any custom recovery too without KNOX.

I think you are wrong. Go to download mode and add me one screenshot of what appears there. I added one screenshot when I was using android 4.2.2. I promiss u that rooting your device with CF-Auto-root your KNOX will be off anyway.

If you don't know what is the difference btw Knox and binary flash counter isn't my problem. One nice guide is in this website. Read and learn a little more.
* EDIT: This root process may increase binary flash counter, not change KNOX status. Read a little more about TRIANGLE AWAY too.

Cf root will trigger my knox though. I have used cf root and triangle away many times on my s2 and my s3. I know the difference between knox and binary. Believe me your 4.2.2 I don't think was mh6, must have been earlier 4.2.2. This is my download mode.

KNOX started in android 4.3. You can read THIS article for your info :highfive:. You can try IROOT app too.

Sorry my friend but once again you are wrong! Knox started in 4.2.2
I know you are trying to help but YOU need to read more before giving advice, because if anybody listened to your advice they would void the knox counter.

How To Root S5 On Lollipop Without Tripping Knox.

Hi guys
As the title suggests really....
What are the current options to rooting the s5 that's already on 5.0 without tripping knox?
I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-triggering-knox-2nd-method-t2843044
But this guide seems to be for people that are still on kitkat and want to update to 5.0 without tripping knox but not for people that already have 5.0 installed.
Anyone
I don't know if there is a solution once you are on lollipop, however you can downgrade to kitkat using odin and then follow the guide

What model? G950F/FD? G950U? There is a very simple way to root G950U/G950W devices already in existence. It's called SamFail and is listed with an accompanying rom in the threads section.

Sadly, currently there is no way of rooting Exynos S8 without tripping knox..
Unfortunately as mentioned above and beyond there is no way currently without tripping Knox. Sadly, I use Samsung Pay alot and like the idea of keeping that option hence no rooting as long as this device is my DD.

A question if anyone can help me.
I really need to Root my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) cause i need to try to recover some photos and most apps to recover need the root done.
I know that root trips Knox, but if i install an official firmware after been tripped, will phone get back to normal, or it will tripped forever??
Thanks

It physically trips knox warranty, so if it’s tripped once, you can’t recover it unless you replace motherboard.

Nope, you won't be able to use it again, even after you install an official firmware afterwards.
