Paul O'Brien from Modaco apparently got word that HTC disabled the update servers. Made to be going back on today, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
It's pretty annoying. Can't change CID yet ,so don't think getting a stock rom is even a choice.

Just double checked and it is definatly 1.12.161.17 for Vodafone. I get a replacement phone on Thursday due to complaining about the speaker grill not sitting flush so I will check this when it arrives.

Operator variants I guess.
Am I right in thinking once we are able to change the CID we can flash a stock ROM?

All branded ROMs will have branded CID's which means that all updates come from carriers and not from HTC themselves, we need S-Off. Once we do, we can do anything on the phone.

That's a little misunderstanding, all roms with different cids are stock roms. You probably mean non bloated with carrier apps.
S-off is not necessary, just an unlocked bootloader is enough. Then you can install any rom you want, even use a stock backup from a wwe cid. But you can't update with that, that's the only thing.

By stock I meant a non carrier ROM. Should have been clearer.
What's WWE? And what is this S-OFF I keep seeing mentioned? I'm a newcomer to HTC! I just left Samsung's world.

WWE roms are usually considered carrier free (world wide english) so all bloat it gone, s-off means security off....with s-off we are able to :
flash kernels from the recovery
flash recoveries from within the OS (with commands)
and it should enable us the option to change the unlocked bootloader status to locked (as it usually is when you get it, this was not the case on the htc one x btw)
some points of use there, and there will probably be some more that i am forgetting now...
EDIT :
- change the cid
- install any ruu we like
- downgrade and upgrade the hboot with ease

Are there any teams actively working on S-off?
Just curious.

If you care about S-OFF don't take this OTA (or any OTA) until finding out if this patches known S-OFF exploits.
It might not break S-OFF. It might not break anything.
But until you *know* what it does (which is something you learn by waiting a few hours and then reading reports from people who have actually taken the OTA) you should really resist the urge.
Oh, I success OTA update with S-OFF + LOCKED bootloader + stock recovery + rooted, after update I use Voodoo OTA ROOTKEEPER to resrore root, excellent.

I only cared about s-off to convert my att model to the US dev version... Which I did (yay). Therefore I decided to be a guinea pig on this one... I went ahead with the update and it doesn't appear to change anything... Hboot is still 1.44.0000 it didn't change my s-off status. That's not to say that they didn't still patch the s-off exploits used to initially get s-off, it just means that if your already s-off it won't change it back to s-on. At least it didn't on my phone.
Got the update earlier tonight on my Dev Edition as well and just checked to see if this update fixes the bug where the phone's lockscreen misbehaves if you have the Accessibility Service enabled for an app (like the Pebble Smartwatch app or Lightflow) but it doesn't. Damn it! Wish they'd fix this bug.
Exactly! Same to me, i install this ota on my phone with locked bootloader+S-OFF, l was success with HBOOT still 1.44.0000, s-off and locked bootloader.

I think it's failing because the CID needs to be BS_US001 which the OTA is checking. Try changing it and see what happens.

LITE - Standard needed stuff for the LG UI. So just the launcher, few preloaded applications and UI enchancements. The other is Full Fat LG UI
LG noob here. Will general ROMs like this work with any carrier variant of the G2 or not at all? And if not, whats the difference between the ROMs for different carriers that makes them incompatible with eachother?

Right, but I wasn't asking if my specific carrier worked with this ROM. I'm wondering if LG G2 ROMs are cross-compatible across carriers?
I'm accustomed to Samsung devices where ROMs are carriers specific.

Oohh...come on mate..
Why do you "all" think there won't be OTA update.
I'm reading threads and posts and can't believe what people can say without any evidence or proof..
There will be OTA and it'll be here soon.
Don't have link but that's the common sense and android police already talked about that...
I'm 100% sure, if you have rooted 257 and update to 290 via OTA - you'll preserve root on 4.3..

You can't flash anything besides rom, data, recovery, kernel with a regular unlock. For any other partition, such as the splash partition, you will need to set security to off. S-OFF, yes.
Damn that sucks 25$ for a app is to much to s-off idk how it's not ban on XDA being they don't offer a free way even if it's ad or something
Thank you for this tool. Am i right, that i can put my custom splash screen into that zip? And if yes, which file type is.nb0?

Unfortunately it does not work here. The script says "Succsess" but nothing is changed. What's wrong?

I'm out of town, on a job right now, so I can't help you much.
Plus, that's his tool, best to ask him in that thread mate.
Sorry about that.

Sorry, you missunderstood. The compiling the slpash1.nb0 works fine.
The Aroma flasher does not work. Tried all three variants - nothing changed.

Maybe your rom doesn't have busybox.
Not sure, worked fine in testing.
Can't do anything with it at the moment.
