[Q] Jealous of VZW G2s, is there a wireless charging addon? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For a bit there I thought my G2 (sprint) might be wired up for wireless charging! I got all excited and went off to Amazon to order a charging pad and all, but luckily I saw that it was verizon exclusive before I purchased one. Now the bug is in my head... I know a lot of phones have some way to add on wireless charging by sticking some magnetic receiver under the battery door or something. Is there a kit for the G2?

No.

Tether

How is it for you owners on tethering when your out and about ? Is it annoying you have to turn on your wifi on the mobile and then turn it off again ? Is there a big drain on battery life on your mobiles ?
I am about to buy the asus but concerned with the hassel of using it outside with no 3g built in and relying on my Nesux One.
Also does the USB port on the keyboard dockcharge other plugged in device ?
Sorry if any of this has been asked before.
Tethering my TF was actually really annoying until I started using an app called AutoTether, which lets me turn the access point on my N1 on and off from the tablet. It's kind of like a remote control for tethring, and it really makes things much easier. Still kills my phone's battery life, but not as much as if I had the hotspot on all the time.
Seams great on my Galaxy sii, but only tested it at home for 30 min. Will be testing for longer and away from home soon.
Well I took the plunge and purchased the transformer last week from Comet online, very impressed, however the unit had a dead pxiel right in the middle of the screen so I am awaiting for an exchange but now I have just read the 3g is coming out in August so the question is should I now return and order the 3g version ? Or really it makes no difference if you tether.
Normally I always bring usb cable and while tethering I connect the usb cable so that the TF&dock will charge my phone.

I use my Evo4g to thether and I just keep it pluged into the Transformer. It works all day and the transformer and the phone never drop below %100

Bought one at best buy a while ago, quickly returned it. Car mode didn't automatically launch and the 4g model is a pain to take out of the dock

I have one in my 9-3 and it works great. It gives you a lot more options for mounting.

Generic mounts never seem to fit as well and are unnecessarily bulky for me. I see your point though if you don't mind their size / form factor.

I love this dock it's only $49.99 (I saw it here).
Bought this @ Best Buy a few weeks ago and I like it. Very sturdy and comes with a car charger.
You could just use this one for 8.99 and from Kensington.
I've used it with my previous phone (EVO) and the Nexus S 4G, also have had random other similarly sized electronics in it (Ipod) and it works perfectly
Comes with a window mount and a vent mount...

the car dock mode didnt launch on the 4g, so i tried a regular magnet on the back of the phone to see if it the phone could even auto launch the car dock and no luck. That's a bummer but i always exited out of the car dock mode on my original droid so i dont think ill miss it.
Where can you buy a single NFC chip? i see packs of them on amazon but i only really need a couple

Backlight started flickering after being plugged into Motorola charger

I charged the phone in my car for about 10 minutes today with no issues. When I got home and went to bed, I plugged the phone into my charger that I've used forever; a Motorola charger that originally came with my wife's old BlackBerry. I use it because the cord is about 5ft instead of 3 which seems to be the norm these days.
I didn't look at the phone again for about 20 minutes. When I did, I noticed that the backlight was flickering like crazy and that the edges of the screen were bleeding. When I unplugged it to get a closer look, I freaked out. Over the next few minutes, the flickering went away and the bleed disappeared. I couldn't even get a picture or video of it. I got the OEM charger out of the box and am using it now with no issues.
Weird.
You were using a charger for another phone? Wow man, never do that.

Do you happen to have daydream on?

My phone flickers from bright to dim when I use my car charger. Most likely the cord's teeth to hold it in the phone are worn out/flush against the head of the charger. Replace the old cord with a new one and it should be fine.

I do that with every phone I've had with no problem. I have random chargers plugged in all over my house and I use other people's chargers at work too

It kind of looked like this but about 5x as intense. Not my photo.
Probably something to do with heat, as you were using a different charger.
Nexus 4 is glass after all, so it generates even more heat.
Well you have been lucky if you just use any charger around unless you are sure they are the correct voltage etc. They are all probably similar though seeing as they use the port that plugs into a USB. Still I wouldn't do it across manufacturers.

so do i lol, i had a super long blackberry one but i gave it to a guy when i sold my n9 :/
I am sure they are all close but it is still taking a chance and will void your warranty for sure unless you lie about it..

I always use different chargers. Mine are a mish mash of all kinds. They all usually output 5v and 1Amp or there abouts.
Living room - Sony charger with blackberry USB cable.
Living room - playbook charger
Bedroom - HTC charger with archos USB cable
Kitchen - Samsung charger
Work - HTC charger with Nokia USB cable
The playbook charger outputs 2Amps and that is fine too.
The only charger I have ever had and issue with on any phone is an LG one I got with an optimus 2x. That used to cause BSOD even on the LG.
Whether it voids your warranty or not, they would never be able to tell what charger you had been using.

glass itself does not generate heat
Same thing happened to me, except on the stock charger but it has something to do with overheating. Mine is recovering, but took a while and is still showing some ghosting.

Is there something wrong with my orb?

Those jagged lines are from the orb. It doesn't slip or anything and I've tried different outlets but the orb still decides to barely charge. Do I have to RMA this thing?

Try a new orb, or perhaps it is the heat induction coil in the phone, RMA the phone, or the orb see whichever fixes it

try different position first. I see lots of screen on there you probably used it and pushed it out of charging sweet spot maybe? try leave it there. Don't touch it

Make sure you are using the charger plug that came with the orb. The one that came with the phone doesn't put out enough juice.

I'll try that out. I've got a similar issue. My charger is stuck to the wall next to my bed with command strips. I have a full body screen protector on my phone, and its very grippy so it sticks to the charger all night (I can confirm because the phone is still exactly the same distance from the wall as when I went to sleep). Despite all of this, I still wake up to a phone charged to between 80 and 90 percent. My charge history doesn't look as jagged as his though. It'll just stop charging once its fully charged, leaving me with a phone that has been running on battery for a few hours when I wake up.
I can confirm that my cheap qi charger from eBay set up in my car charges just fine, but it had similar issues when using a cord other than the included one. It would cycle charging every 5 seconds or so.
I'll see what switching back to the included lg cord does.
I'll try the included usb cord.

Wireless charging?

I read that the Verizon LG G2 will include wireless charging. I currently have a Lumia 928 and am loving the wireless charging capabilities! Question is will the G2 work with the same charger or will I need a new one?
Thanks all!
most likely will work. I have the Nokia fat boy that works on my dna and nexus 7, and it should work on the LG as well.

Yes, it will work. Both use the Qi wireless charging standard.
I didnt see anything about the us LG G2 having wireless charging. Is this confirmed?

That is probably why the changed the buttons on the back, maybe to make room for the inductive coil.
