[Q] Which kitkat version should i choose? I9500 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Xda community,
Personally i own an unbranded GS4 i9500( currently i have Android Jellu Bean) and i wanted to know which version of kit kat is the best to update to, since there are many options in sammobile.
- Country: India
PDA: I9500XXUFNB3
CSC: I9500ODDFNB3
And the rest are from different countries(Trinidad and Tobago, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia) but they have the same PDA and CSC, unfortunately it isnt released in my country yet...
PDA: I9500XXUFNB7
CSC: I9500OLBFNB4
Thank you in advance

The best u can do for avoid problems is:
1- Conect it to Kies 3 for know ur code region. CSC are the 3 letters btw parenthesis. The list of codes for region is HERE
2- Wait the update for ur code region. Why? Each country is different (some have LTE, others only 3g, differents modems, etc).
3- If its try for try.... select the one u wish but take care of the step 2 :highfive:

Indian one is quite stable and battery friendly.

As the i9500 does not have LTE, is safe to flash both. I did saw some improvments in phone calls and time to do the call in the indian version from the latest Omega Rom. The v18 was based on Russian version and v19 is based on indian.
Hope this help.

[Q] I need firmware Kitkat 4.4.2

For a Galaxy Note 3 LTE N9005XXUDMJ7.
Were can I find it? On Sammobile I find nothing for that number in combination with kitkat 4.4.2. Please help me.
I have a Bosnia and Herzegovina Note 3.
Will a firmware 4.4 from Slovakia (or Uzbekistan, Papoea New Guinea, or ...) work? As long it isn't branded? Or do I have to stick to N9005XXUDMJ7??

why do u need that 4.3 JB?
flashing other region shld be no problem as long as same device.
e.g: n9005 must take n9005.
however u have to avoid hongkong and Taiwan firmware.

[Q] Can update N9005XXUGNG1 4.4.2 Austria A1 to N9005XXUGBOB6 .0 POLAND XEO?

hi
I had problems during reflash n9005 before.
i had version N9005XXUFNG2 and wanted to update to Poland XEO version N9005XXUEND3. Somebody reply me i can use it and i almost kill my note3 during flash.
Then somebody explain i cant downgrade from NG2 to ND3 so i reflash back to correct version and let i to wait.
question 1:
my current firmware is N9005XXUGNG1_N9005ATOGNG1_N9005XXUGNG1_HOME.tar.md5, phone is probably from Austria A1 network (i bought it in local store with papers)
now there is update to android 5.0. Of course i got info and tried to update phone via wifi but after it download firmware (over 810mb) during recovery flash it end at 29% with ERROR message than suggest to use KIES so can i now use POLAND XEO firmware:

Hi,
I'm in Qatar and I've SM-N9005 with Baseband N9005XXUGNG1. Can I flash official update firmware from other countries like Saudi Arabia with firmware N9005XXUGBOEA?
I would really appreciate if someone could give me link to some kind of tutorial on reading firmware compatibility issues.
Regards

I have been trying to find an answer to this for a long while, but I just can't. There are some ROMs which are meant for 32 GB devices, and then there are some ROMs which are meant for 16 GB devices. If you download a ROM which is meant for 16 GB Note 3, then obviously you won't be able to flash it on a 32 GB Note 3. And the firmwares listed on sammobile.com don't say which are which!
So I have given up, when a new base pops up, I simply head over to the Alexandar's topic to see whether he has complied the newer version or not, and he does that so fast. That is as stock as a ROM can get, other than ROMs from sammobile.com, so I don't really bother any more.

Hi,
What model of phone do you have? The LTE SM-N9005? If so (and I hope someone could either second this or correct me if i'm wrong) I believe you could flash via odin (and you do not need to be rooted to do this) the lollipop update that O2 has. 5.0 is available for the UK via the sammobile website, so if the basebands remain the same and the phone is the same model, I believe you could just download the 5.0 update from sammobile and flash it via odin.
Since you would be flashing an official version of sammy's rom, you won't need to be rooted, nor have a custom recovery.
Cheers

so, you are using the sm-n9005, and the firmware u have is the same one as the firmware that the 02 UK version runs in 4.4.2.
Unless I'm mistaken, and if anyone sees I am please correct me, you could flash the 5.0 version with odin for o2 UK. I don't see why it wouldn't work, since it seems you have the same phone and firmware currently in 4.4.2
cheers

Your device is using of UK (with CSC: BTU). It still without Lollipop update. I recommend don't flash via ODIN any firmware and wait for future updates (via OTA) if you aren't rooted.

Note 4 SM-N910C Trinidad and Tobago Kit Kat downgrade help.

I have a SM-N910C from Trinidad and Tobago. I am using in on At&t in the US and it works great with LTE and all. I would like to downgrade to Kit Kat 4.4.4 from Lolipop because of all the lag and bugs.
I would like to know if flashing the stock rom back to kit kat is going to mess up the basebands? I went to Sammobile and found the Trinidad and Tobago 4.4.4 rom in the link (it won't let me post the link but here are the numbers from the link (PDA and CSC) below is this the right rom?
PDA: N910CXXU1ANK5
CSC: N910CUUB1ANL1
Country Code TTT
Also I was wondering if I could possibly flash other countries roms to the SM-N910C or if it would mess up the modem? If it is possible which countries roms are the most US friendly?
(One thing I hate about the Trinidad and Tobago Rom is the date format is backwards compared to the US "dd/mm/yy VS. mm/dd/yy" and it confuses me all the time)
I just want to make sure I'm not going to mess up my new phone some how.
I'd appreciate and help!

Use any unbranded firmware mate, UK for example. By unbranded I mean try those which don't come with any carrier labelling, you know like O2 etc.

Yes, unless EE is a carrier name it should be unbranded.
Installing the EE firmware will also install EE's own remote phone locking software in the persdata partition (Which is a real pain to remove as it will keep coming back even if you flash a non EE firmware) as well as EE's bloatware.
Use the BTU firmware for a clean unbranded phone.

Thank you for the valuable insight. Its a good thing since I have delayed the downgrade.

Hi....I just found your thread and wanted to know did the downgrade work in the end and what impact did it have on the phone. Did it improve? What were the reasons you decided to downgrade?
Thanks
