External Keyboard - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If anyone is looking for an external keyboard for the Nexus 10 I just got a Logitech K400.
I had seen a year old thread (4.3?) that said you'd need a different kernel but it could be made to work. However it works with the KOT49H kernel.
This is NOT a bluetooth keyboard - at least it is not recognized as a bluetooth device. You need to use the included unifying adapter and an OTG cable!
But with this setup everything works remarkably well. Specifically this is a 14" keyboard that you can actually type on - for real. The trackpad works flawlessly, complete with multitouch scrolling.
All the dedicated keys work also! Not the function keys that have no equivalent in Android. But Home, play, lock, power on/off, volume, search etc.
This is a very cool device well worth the $25 Amazon charged for it. It is now practical to actually use AIDE.

Sounds very interesting. How bout a picture of it connected to the tab with your OTG cable?

Will we be unable to do HDMI out and use a controller since they use the same ports?

HDMI out is MHL; controllers are USB OTG. I believe it's a hardware limitation that the two can't be used together, unfortunately. But nothing stopping you from using a wireless one (if there's one that works).

Yes that's what I meant with this only apply to GSII. I guess only a bluetooth controller would work though.
I think that the MHL-adapter will have an micro-USB port on it. It looks like it will on these pictures as well:

But I don't really have any reliable source to that.
The Micro USB port on the side of the adapter lets you charge your phone while in use.

USB Mouse

I had this mouse for my laptop and decided to throw it in the A500 to see if it works. It works perfect. The wheel scrolls pages, you can long press to select text, and you can double click to zoom.
It may be a cheaper alternative to a Blue Tooth Mouse, maybe??? Just an FYI for those of you that may have a USB laser mouse laying around.

Yea my mouse that came with PC works also.

Try a hub too
Yep. And whats even cooler is that you can throw on a USB hub and simultaneously run a keyboard too.
My desktop decided to blow up on me a few weeks back and I had to type up a really big report. Grabbed my tablet, a small USB self-powered hub, keyboard, mouse, and hooked it to my monitor with the HDMI jack and I was back in business!

If they use standard protocol the keyboard and mouse will work.
I use a Logitech Keyboard, and optical mouse combo with a single doggle which gives back the usb port for other use as well.

BT Keyboard Case MOD - OTG - USB HUB

Hello people!
I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100) and I've been fantasizing with a very particular MOD.
I've seen this Blutooth Sliding Keyboard cases:

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But I would like to get it working thorugh OTG, and take advantage of the extra height o add a USB port for USB DRIVES using an integrated USB hub.
This way I wouldnt need to carry around an OTG cable, and wouldnt have the constant drain beause of the BT pairing.
My main roadblock at this time is wether I could get the keyboard working through USB (bypass the bluetooth interface) so it could get recognized by the phone.
Once I can sort this out, the rest of the mod should be quite straightforward.
I dont own the keyboard case yet, so If anyone has some previous modding experience could shed some light on the bluetooth matter, it would be of tremendous help!
Thanks a lot in advance.
I don't have the first idea how to do this but I am very interested!
I like a physical keyboard and I've had to import from the US or stick with very outdated phones....

[Q] What to do with my Nexus 7

So I have a few Nexus 7's... One 2012 and 3 2013. I have no use for the 2012 model at the moment and I am trying to find some off the wall use for it. I already use a n7 for my car stereo and the rest for standard tablets. What should I use this 2012 n7 for? I am looking for very non traditional uses. In other words I want to use it for something it was not really intended to be used for that might breathe some life into this extra piece of tech.

Not very non-traditional, but you can mount your N7 in your car and use it as a smart multi-media centre. Check out AutoDroid Rom.

Yep already have one in my dash. Needing something else.
WIFI MOD
do this
i did it to my N7
I think I'm going to use it as a test dummy for modding my 2013 n7.... Like move the rear camera out of the case on a ribbon and install it and the microphones in my dash. That way I can do video and hands free calls via hangouts.

Rii i8+ 2.4 GHz Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Mouse would work with a M.O.J.O.?

Does anyone know if an "Rii i8+ 2.4 GHz Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Mouse" would work with a M.O.J.O.? Thanks!
It should. I used to pair mine with the Rii mini (72 Keys 2.4G Mini Wireless Keyboard)

I'd imagine so. I use the i8+ and it works like a charm.

Wow that's actually brilliant. I have a mini Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad that I'm going to to the exact same with right now.
The types of USB peripherals and Bluetooth devices that the MOJO can function with is actually rather surprising. Its too bad I couldn't find a way to get mouse-mode to work with the PS2 Controller, but it still works otherwise for games the same as the CTRLR. I've had this controller for a while, but you can still get them pretty easily on Amazon, its called the Nyko iType2
Please excuse the terrible camera from my phone.
Just going to leave this here as well... the irony that Mad Catz never intended their old gaming peripherals to work on the MOJO, but they still do with a PSX to USB adapter. LOL
